A visiting warship arrives over the planet of New Carida, the Immortalis, a Victory III-class Star Destroyer who was registered with the Ars Moriendi Squadron, one of the many escorts of the Executor-class Dreadnought that was the pride of the Imperial Navy. From its hangar bay, an Upsilon-class Command Shuttle disembarks and zooms down to the planet's surface, escorted by a squadron of TIE Xs.

As the Aniquilador-class Battlecruiser known as the Sideswipe exited hyperspace with the Twelfth Attack Group over New Carida, Grand Admiral Tala Vane was unsurprised to find who the current Victor was. Given Standash's seemingly resolute loyalty to Nicademus and now Octavian and the Training Academy under her tutelage, any defectors to Baltasar's cause had been short lived. But with the firepower the Ren could bring to bear, Grand Admiral Vane felt much more confident about her chances. The comm broadcast was sent offering them safety and protection under Empress Fiora Ren if only they would swear loyalty to her as the true heir

As expected, the response to the message came in the force of a defence fleet and the Golan Stations powering up and launching starfighters. Grand Admiral Vane was nonplussed as she ordered the Twelfth Attack Group to return fire. TIE Fighters launched out into the void and streaked across the emptiness toward the oncoming fighters. The bigger guns were turned upon the defending forces and fired as soon as they were charged up and within range
