Not Completely understanding what happened during my time on Tython, I watched the blue of the corridor fade down to individual stars dropping into the Asteroid field that once was the Planet Carida. I chuckled as a chill ran up my spine that i could sense millions of presences… millions of myself all around in the field… it was a true nexus.
Switching on the Systems cloak I prepped a message to Master Kel'Al Raganella with Starnet encoding
: Hello old friend
I have Arrived. you will find a map of the location sent to you via open comms, you will also notice that the open coms has several possible signatures of the Skith. The cypher is 8176-Aurek plug that in and you will be able to see my ship. I would instruct you to hail using Starnet and not Open coms.
…Forgive my nature.. but if you hail via open Comms, or if someone else crashes the meeting before you, I will be forced to Bolt and we will have to reschedule our symposium.
Best -D.Tuhlute Jedi-58.13:: Heading up with Jedimaru, I began listening in to every observable band of data… I wanted to learn all that i could while waiting. When Kel Arrived, I would come in range and extend a docking ramp between our ships (assuming he brought something that had such a ramp) and i would explain all that i knew about the Situation with the Case against Adieumus Matango. Not long after Tuhlute's arrival, Kel'Al's Corellian Tracer popped out of hyperspace over Carida, and as his slowed his fighter for the final approach to the planet, he noticed that he had a new Starnet message. It was his friend, and the meeting was set. Kel was relieved, it seemed that at least the first step of this extremely delicate and dangerous operation had succeeded. Not to mention, Tuhlute was operating with an appropriate amount of caution. Retrieving the map of locations from the open channel, he applied the cipher, and sure enough, the possibilities suddenly shrank to exactly one.Locating the indicated coordinates among all the other traffic entering and exiting the busy system, Kel'Al stared at the spot, but could see nothing with the naked eye or on his scanners. Evidently his friend was cloaked. Stretching out with the Force, the Corellian took a deep breath, and focused on that single point. Yes, there was definitely someone there, and the most likely explanation for his feelings was a Jedi in a cloaked ship, although he couldn't be sure.Sending his response via Jedi Starnet, Kel hailed his friend.I am here, and heading in your direction.
I hope your capabilities include a docking collar for a starfighter.Fitting his actions to his words, he began to dip and dive through the other traffic, making his way toward Monte's coordinates, but being careful not to be too direct about it.

The Dragon-class heavy cruiser & the empty troop transport transitioned back into real space well clear of the planet. It wouldn't do to scare people before the mission even got under-way after all. Once they had assured themselves that they hadn't landed in the middle of a battle, the Dragon-class began sensor sweeps. Mainly they were searching for Imperial coded transmissions, but in case that came up short, they were also building a map of the major energy sources in the system.

Eventually, the Tianlong's sensor operators spotted a series of burst transmissions from the remaining moon of Carida. Normally, it would be logged & then ignored, but the transmission used Imperial style encryptions. The information was quickly passed on to Marcos. Marcos, meanwhile, was still trying to get used to his uniform. He had spend most of his life in armour, either culture or more recently, occupational. Making the switch to yielding cloth was going to take a while to get used to.
-Marcos Right, Have First Company prepare for deployment. Third & Fourth Platoon with deploy with me to investigate the transmissions. First & Second Platoons will hold on the Tianlong in case we need backup. Zeke, you have the ship.
-Battalion Captain 'Zeke' ZK-6154 I have the ship.
Having given the required orders, Marcos left the bridge to head to the ready rooms that separated the twin hangers. The Dragon-class was too small to carry or deploy most ground based vehicle, troops on the other hand where a completely different story. Each of the hangers were host to four of the Gamma-class shuttles, as well as a single larger Sentinel-class. Finally, the port hanger deck was home to the Upsilon-class shuttle that was Marcos' official ride. The cosponsoring spot in the starboard hanger deck had been left open for any visiting shuttles or small craft.
Each of the Gammas was marked with the numbers of the platoons it served. First & Third Company platoons used the Port hanger, while Second & Fourth Company platoons used the Starboard.
By the time Marcos arrived, the four platoons of First Company were nearly ready to deploy. Of course, only half of them would leave the hanger. The other two platoons would stay ready, but wouldn't leave the ship unless called.
Boarding the Upsilon with a quartet of Security Platoon troopers, Marcos slipped into the navigation chair in the cockpit. He wasn't actually going to help fly the craft, as the pilots could do much better than his own rather shoddy flying. Still he didn't like being stuck were he couldn't see whatever was happening. He could also make more informed command calls with a front row seat.
Lifting off nearly in unison with the Gamma, the Upsilon followed other craft out of the hanger. Once in open space, the two craft immediately angled toward the moon of Carida, with the Upsilon taking the lead.
The remainder of the trip was roughly half an hour of boredom. Of course by the time they landed, the Tianlong would only be ten minutes out by shuttle & closing. The initial sweep over the target coordinates, made at extreme altitude to avoid any anti-air defences, showed only a single small bunker. While it might serve as the entrance to a much larger concealed underground system, it was far more likely that it was a relay point of some kind. There would be many such outposts in any system with long Imperial ties.
Landing roughly a kilometre from the bunker, The pair of craft prepared to unload. The moon wasn't a complete vacuum, but it would still be a drain on the Troopers' armour. So it would be best to limit the number of troops suffering the drain while keeping the rest close enough to help out.
Each squad was designed to deploy alone & overcome anything in its path. Each was commanded by a Sergeant, with nine stormtroopers under her command. A quartet of riflemen served as the core of each squad, with a heavy trooper alongside to provide heavy blaster fire. An Engineer provided explosive & anti-vehicle support, while a flame trooper took care of any suppressing fire needed. A single riot trooper was also assigned to each squad in case of lightsabre wielding enemies or the need to take prisoners. Finally, a medic finished out the squad.
-Marcos Joker, your squad is with me, Everyone else stay with the ships & be prepared to come in guns blazing.
After a chorus of confirmations, Marcos & the Second Squad of 3rd platoon headed out across the blasted landscape toward the broadcasting bunker. The trip was rather boring, though the view of the sky was impressive enough. Before long the squad found itself at the airlock to the bunker. Any defences that might once have guarded the approach had long since been removed.
Deciding to take the direct course, Marcos lead the squad through the bunker's airlock. Within, Marcos discovered that he had been wrong about his initial assessment. As the inner airlock cycled open. Marcos & Second Squad found themselves facing down a number of levelled blasters, as well as an older style E-web emplacement. Noticing the men holding the weapons were stormtroopers, Marcos reacted before anyone else could start anything.
-Marcos HOLD FIRE, Second Squad.
This had the desired effect as both sides checked themselves. Stepping forward, Marcos put himself between the two squads of stormtroopers. He also pulled up some files in his HUD to make sure he had all his details straight.
-Marcos I am Major Marcos, LE-9615. This is Second Squad. We are on a mission to locate the 83rd Battalion. Which according to my records is under the command of Major Genfeild.
-83 sergeant Well, you found us. I don't recognize your armour style though. It looks Imperial in design, but it isn't the Phase III.
-Marcos Phase IV, Novatrooper Modification. Can you escort us to the Major. Or should we wait here for him?
-83 sergeant I already sent word. I'll know more shortly. Are you here to bring us back to the Empire?
-Marcos In a word? Yes. It is a bit more complicated than that however.
-83 sergeant It always is. Most of the boots on the ground want to get back. I warn you, however, that there is word the major, along with the captains & lieutenants have other plans for the battalion.
That certainly didn't sound good.
-Marcos Understood.
-83 sergeant We had a number of squad up & desert as well. Which is why we are camped out on this crappy moon.
About that time a procession of boots was heard coming up the hallway behind the airlock chamber. The sergeant's stance changed to a more hostile grip & he suddenly fell silent as well. That was very much not a good sign in Marcos' book.
Entering the room was a Major & five captains. Also present were several lieutenants & a number of security troopers. It was time to see how they would react. Hopefully he could get out of it without much bloodshed if any. Quietly sending a command for the two shuttles to join him at the bunker & preparing orders for Second Squad. Marcos prepared to drop a bomb on the Major opposite him.
-Marcos Major Genfeild, You are hereby ordered to return with your command & all equipment to the First Order. This order is a direct command from your Emperor & any attempts to countermand it will be viewed as treason.
-Genfeild I don't recognize you. & I don't acknowledge your so-called Emperor. Get off my base before I have you shot.
Second Squad didn't wait for orders. They had already been given orders in case the Major refused. The squad guarding the airlock hadn't been prepared for the sudden burst of violence as Second Squad opened up on the command staff of the 83rd Battalion. The new, advanced weapons tearing through the older style armour.
-Marcos HOLD FIRE, Second Squad. Sergeant, you are in command now here. You have your orders. Do you forsee any other problems?
The sergeant hesitated for a long moment, obviously torn between the empire & any loyality he might have had for the now dead major. The Empire won out though as he straightened out & saluted Marcos.
-83 sergeant No sir. I need to issue a few order to stop a few potential trouble makers, but everything should go smoothly now.
-Marcos Understood, the rest of my Battalion is standing by to prove any assistance needed to relocate your command to the orbiting warship.
A little reminded of the power flying above them wouldn't hurt to crush any lingering loyalty to the dead major.
True enough, within two hours the 83rd Battalion & the remainder of their equipment have been loaded aboard the waiting troop transport. After that it was just a matter of getting clear of the planet's gravity well before jumping to hyperspace.

… except that was not quite correct. there was a larger ship were Kel sensed it… but by the time Kel'Al Raganella had arrived at the coordinates, the shuttle had vanished from the spot and the sector. leaving behind a small Pod.
Inside the pod was every bit of data that I had collected on Adi . from the transmissions with honoghr, to the note left when he ditched the crew (with appropriate files on possible answers to the riddle with explanations for why)
but the last object. what gave the pod its hold that made Kel find someone there when he scanned. there was a small Tiger doll at the head of the pod. battered and worn as if this toy had once seen combat… and even holding the toy one could detect the faintest remnants of an Echo of what used to inhabit this body.
When the Kel had the time to process through the data, a single message would arrive in his Starnet Inbox. a small hologram from a “mysterious” man.:: Greetings Master Jedi.
Sorry i had to leave. I did not intend on acting rude to you a second time… but Ashla often has a mind of her own, and as such i had to be called away to another part of the galaxy
I admit to my insubordination, only because i do not believe that the Jedi order operates for the glory of Ashla anymore. I do hope that you can see this as well as I. in fact in my travels i found an order from my home world that is closer to the light than what the Council has led this Jedi Order to become. we do not claim to act as instruments of Ashla’s will. but instead that when we act, the result of our actions always be to the glory of Ashla
I beg of you not to seek me out presently, for your sake. Brand me a traitor, Mark me as wanted, but do not try to track me down using the resources I have given you. You may see me again old friend, when your plans intersect with the Dragon’s Path.

It was a tricky business to retrieve the pod, but with his astromech's assistance (and mechanized arm), Kel finally succeeded in acquiring the data drop left for him by Master Tuhlute. He scanned through the data and the reports, his eyes widening and his heart rate increasing as the details slowly dawned on him. But when he came to the Tiger doll itself, he was baffled, and turned it over in his hands several times, before setting it carefully aside. He could sense ... something ... living? No, not quite, but an essence from the recent past. The Corellian was not angered by Diamonte's disappearing act. Frustrated, perhaps, yes, but he had the answers he needed to continue his search, and he trusted that his fellow Jedi had good reasons for his departure. He now had a list of possible locations, and the name and model of Adi's crew's ship. From the list of locations, he could chase the missing Jedi Master, and try to catch up with him, although that task might prove difficult. But from the ship information, he could also send out a watch notice to his various Republic contacts, and hope to catch his target on arrival. If it were the will of the Force, combining both strategies would enable him to trap his old friend in the middle, between his recent past and his intended future destinations. The trail, which had gone cold so long ago, was warm once more. But would he be the first one to find Master Matango?Opening a private channel directly to Coronet, he placed a watch notice for The Wayward Son, then programmed his navicomputer for the jump to Bastion. Moments later, he was nothing but a ripple at the edge of the Carida system, gone as quickly and as quietly as he'd come.

The Imperial Combined Fleets exits hyperspace over Carida would find itself instantly engaging a chunk of what appeared to a minor Imperial Warlord that had claimed New Carida for himself. Nicademus had not expected an Imperial presence over the planet, but clearly someone had set up shop here. Upon arrival, sensors detected at least three Imperial-class Star Destroyers and a number of various supporting ships, ranging from Vindicators to Dreadnaughts and even a pair of Venators. Whoever the Warlord was, they certainly had a substantial foundation in order to have this kind of firepower.
What the defending commanders did not expect was the arrival of the Sovereign-class Super Star Destroyer. The Imperial fleets entered New Carida's orbit aggressively and began to systematically crush the defending fleets. It was quite a spectacle to witness the discipline of the Imperial warships and the awe-inspiring firepower of the Sol Invictus as ship after ship was turn apart under a flurry of turbolasers. Many ships ceased to exist within the opening actions of the First Order's arrival to the vital Core system. Certainly this battle would bring about a new change to neighboring systems and sectors.
===============================
Nicademus, from the bridge of the Sol Invictus, directed the battle from a holoprojector that depicted a map of the ongoing and changing battlefield. He had held off on utilizing the superlaser, but perhaps it could make the defending fleets surrender. They were tenacious and fought like cornered wolves. It irritated the Supreme Commander slightly under his skin as his face was illuminated by the explosion of one of the enemy's Imperial-class Star Destroyers. Having focused the starboard turbolasers on smashing it, its demise ensured the Imperial right flank could increase the pressure and continue their advance towards New Carida.
He orders a transmission to the fleets of the Right Flank.
This is the Sol Invictus! Push forward, break them now! All fronts, advance, keep the pressure on them!
The Imperial Combined Fleets began a renewed advanced after a period of stagnated and skirmishing maneuvers. The enemy fleets began to roll back, attempting a tactical retreat in order to reform their lines and attempt to hold once more. Still a pair of Imperial-class ships that remained, ensuring the lines still had firepower to spare. The Supreme Commander returns attention to his own ship.
Begin firing starboard turbolasers on the nearest cluster of ships, attempt to break their retreat. Portside weaponry, I want all firepower focused on the ships protecting the Imperial-class Star Destroyer on the Left Flank. I need that vessel exposed! Have all wings split into two groups and continue with their wolf pack objectives, search and destroy any chance they have at air superiority.

New Carida. A chance to shed some blood. It had been quite the relief to finally see some action. He had spent much of the fleet battle on the bridge, watching Captain Lasek at work, offering the occasional order. But with the fleet engagement drawing toward a close, Harnan had made his way down to the Resurgence's hangar bay. The dying explosions of the conflict could still be viewed through the massive openings, as the First Legion formed up and loaded into their AALs. Now would come the fun part. Fleets clashing were all good and well. But it seemed so large and distant to watch the mechanical behemoths clash.
Fighting on the surface of a planet though. That was where it all changed. Armies marching toward one another, watching as either sides numbers were dwindled away. He could stretch his legs, and also put some better distance between Nicademus and himself. Up here, Nicademus was a master. But down there, on the front lines, was Harnan's world. Where Nicademus would sit safely away from any true danger from the fighting, Harnan thrived in the thick of it. Once all of the transports were loaded up, and there was a clear path to the surface, Harnan loaded into his own AAL and gave the order to make for the surface

Warlord command, entrusted with hold the Sol Invictus' left flank, put up a brilliant focused volley on the left most ISD and, while it took a handful of salvos to finish it the ship was soon venting through several deep gashes and drifting below the plane of engagement. Checking the tactical readout, Acting admiral Chiamaka, saw that the right squadron had pushed through the enemy's left flank already. Things were going well then. She didn't like this stringent two dimensional formation, but she new how to follow orders just fine. Her fighters were busy keeping bombers away from the Sol Invictus, and doing a wondrous job, considering how many targets the pilots had to shoot at. Pellaeon's constant drills and simulations, plus the mini-crusade, had served everyone under her command well. The extra experience, and resulting boost in confidence, clearly showed. Nothing had gotten close enough to the Sol Invictus to be engaged by it's point-defense systems, at least not yet. The group moved forward, focusing fire on the highest priority threats to the Sol Invictus, within their field of fire, until the vessel was a smoking husk or less. The massed fire did wonders to overload the shields of the individual vessels, who's shield were meant to survive a sustained engagement more than a colossal hammering. So far, most of the return fire had been scattered across the fleet, and while shields were being strained, none had shattered yet.
Yes, the battle was going well, for now, but the Imperial force as a whole had yet to find it's rhythm. Commanders were slow to exploit openings, but disciplined enough to hold their own, and prevent similar openings for occurring in their own ranks. That would carry the day here. The defenders were desperate true, but they had grown sloppy over the years of chaos and misinformation following the demise of Emperor Palpetine. The FO fleet just needed a little more practice, and they would all be marching in sync.

The firepower of the Sol Invictus continued to plow through the enemy lines. This began when Nicademus noticed that the rearguard was shifting ships between the two flanks. Their commander had ordered a redeployment of various ships in the middle of a fight! What a fool, thought the Supreme Commander, as a general order to advance was signaled throughout the Combined Fleet. All flanks began to surge forth, with the Sol Invictus cutting through ships either with its prow or its heavy armament. The Imperial, watching the battle unfold for a moment, turns to the gunnery officer.
Power up the superlaser, commander. Full power, do not leave an ounce out. We will take out their flagship with one good shot!
The commander salutes and sends an order down to the superlaser crew. Moments later, the system came online and began to charge...

Warlord command was still churning out salvo after salvo, as the enemy continued to resist. The foe's indecisiveness was keeping any one of the many ships in the task force from being overwhelmed so far, though several of the DP-20 frigates were sporting new scorch marks on their hulls, from the occasional volley of return fire from enemy corvettes. One enemy corvette, shifted it's position, cutting across the fleet, and began to charge it's hyper-drive. Most officers would assume the ship was trying to flee, one of the sensor officers did a quick calculation to be certain there would be no accidental collisions as the ship left, and so caught what might have been a crippling blow before it landed. He flagged the vessel as a Tier I threat, highlighting it's projected trajectory which ran straight through the Sol Invictus. Warlord Command's guns fell silent for a moment as every gun with line of sight, shifted aim to the priority target. Missile systems locked on as well, this priority target was to be approached with excessive force lest it achieve it's own objective.
The fleet fired as one, the small corvette was half twisted slag at the end of the volley, and the remains were blasted and torn to shrapnel by the missiles as the tractor beams held the target in place. The small double flash was all that most commanders in the fleet would see of the desperate corvette's maneuvers. With the threat erased, the feet returned to it's previous targets, chewing through the enemy's escort vessels so the larger ships could more easily access the enemy flag ship.

Onboard the Caridan Flagship, Iron Will...
Lord Admiral, we are getting a reading from that Sovereign-class Super Star Destroyer.
Within the seat of the command vessel, Lord Admiral Marcus would look away from the battlefield to his sensory officer. A reading? The Imperial thought for a moment, stroking a thin beard upon his face, which was grey, yet marred with his original color of brown hair. He had been warlord of New Carida for a couple decades now and did his best to prevent this First Order assault. Yet, it was a tenacious fight, with that Sovereign-class being able to absorb a lot of firepower.
As the officer sought to speak more, the bow of the Sol Invictus turned slowly, slamming into a Victory I-class Star Destroyer with ease. Its prow was soon pointed directly at the Iron Will. Suddenly, a feeling of dread began to fall upon him. The Lord Admiral barks an order.
Prepare to jump for hyperspace! Get me full power to the engines!
It was too late. The last thing the Lord Admiral ever saw was a blinding green light from the prow of the Sol Invictus. All sound vanished, all sight vanished, feeling evaporating in seconds. Only to be replaced with darkness...
======================================
A brilliant green beam fires from the Sol Invictus, slashing through a few other ships in the way before striking at the enemy flagship. All sensors went off as the Imperial-class Star Destroyer disappeared in a massive implosion of molten steel and flames. The sight of the superlaser being fired off had caused a sudden stillness along the battlefield. Enemy ships ceased their salvos and their movements. With their attention garnered, the Supreme Commander opens a channel.
To my enemies, this is your one and only chance... Surrender immediately and unconditionally to the First Order!
Seconds later, many acknowledgements came forth as a maelstrom of surrenders came forth from all enemy vessels. New Carida was theirs.

Nine days post announcements.Banshee Fleet and Task-Force Incursio arrived in the New Carida system and command was formally shifted to Commodore Viggo for the duration of the exercise. He began with several simple drills on the edge of the system, with crews being scored by the senior officers who had been instructed to look for areas to improve or polish existing performance levels. Gunners worked on accuracy; sensor crews were given increasingly difficult readings to interpret for their superiors; engineers were put through damage control and emergency repair simulations; pilots and ground troops were in their own simulators. Even cooks and sanitation crews were given new drills and problems to solve. No crew member was not given new work, and the officers were tested in their ability organize and compel a crew to it's task.
Viggo was soon all but swamped in the data influx and complaints and problems that went with such an aggressive training regimen, sanitation in particular was less than thrilled with some of the cross training to repel boarders particularly with the troop compliments of each ship. As anticipated, Incursio needed a lot of practice and training to get it up to Imperial standards. Banshee Fleet provided the experience necessary to accelerate the learning process and Viggo was soon assigning Banshee officers to train Incursio crews. He didn't pay much attention to ranks when doing so and several junior officers were commanding their seniors. That added some friction, but Viggo was watching for it and slapped it down immediately. During training, the instructor had superiority for the duration of the lesson. Viggo relied heavily on Banshee senior officers to help him keep things organized and running smoothly and was pleased by their professionalism and skill. Jenia still knew how to run a tight ship, well fleet now.

Three weeks after their arrival in the system, the ships began individual maneuver and firing drills, competing against each other for accuracy, precision, response time, application of resources, and command competence. Due to senior officers from the Banshee Fleet being used extensively for overseeing and judging the exercise many of the junior officers would be in command of the individual ships for the duration of these exercises. The first week would be individual vessel simulations. The next two weeks would involve multiple ship scored matches, in which they would compete in live fire exercises attempting to bring their opponent's shields down to the specified percentage, in the specified fields, as exactly as possible.
Army compliments had been sent to the surface to practice basic maneuvers and unit specific drills. In the coming weeks they would be practicing combined maneuvers and assaults on hardened targets and fortified defenses. Most of the fighter and bomber groups would be tied to these drills as CAS and air superiority, while cycling through the naval drills as their mother ships participated in the scored matches.
Commodore Viggo was keeping on top of it all and tweaking drills to tailor the practices to each crew helping them improve trouble areas and skills until each unit was able to perform to an acceptable standard. Incursio units proved to be very eager to learn with high morale, but almost no practical experience. Banshee units were better experienced but were not as enthusiastic to improve their own performance. The rivalry between the units was proving sufficient to produce adequate results but Viggo had hoped for a bit more from the veteran units. He adapted his later training regiments accordingly.

Commodore Viggo watched as his mounted infantry corps moved with speed across rough terrain, before engaging and overrunning fortified positions in a surprise attack scenario. Some areas of heavy fortifications required assistance from the over head patrols of TIEs or even higher platforms of the orbiting cruisers to properly silence. Each instance was quickly and correctly identified, and the necessary support requested and delivered. Viggo knew that war was never this accommodating, but it would serve as the baseline from which his commanders could draw their models and future assessments.
Elsewhere his artillery batteries and AAA practiced defending a static line fortification. It was proving to be less than ideal without heavy infantry to support it with suppressing fire from the defensive line. Unfortunate, but understandable. He let the simulations continue to see how each unit handled being ordered to fight to the last. It was an interesting problem for intelligent beings; did they really trust their superiors enough to taunt death against all odds? He hoped that he was capable enough to keep them from ever having to answer that question, but knew the whims of war wouldn't leave the choice to him alone.
The next day Banshee Fleet and Task Force Incursio would begin joint maneuvers to deploy the ships and men in the most opportune arrangements possible. Viggo was hoping to make use of the Immobilizers to bring his more vulnerable ships in close to the fighting as safely as possible. That would be tested, as well as general battle worthiness of each vessel. So far each vessel was performing admirably. The elder Liberator-class vessel was a work of art, but a tad outdated. The platform fit a remarkable amount of materiel and weapons onto a surprisingly small frame, but it held remarkably well against a single Victory-II class, and if left to duel it alone it would eventually gain the upper hand with greater maneuverability, smaller profile and higher concentration of firepower. Adding even just the Immobilizers to the fray against the Periklis pushed it’s shield generators to their limits but the fight was considered a draw. The truly amazing part was massive carrying capacity, with 72 fighters held in it’s hangar it could easily out last two Vic-II with their full compliments. Though the Periklis was left limping and with less than half it’s original compliment at the end of that simulation, it’s competitors were completely destroyed with no fighters remaining.
And Viggo was certain that the ship could do more under the hands of an experienced crew and command staff. Still, when fighting alone, it was easy to see it could be overwhelmed and it’s compact nature meant that vital systems were often close to the hull and easily damaged. It was something to keep in mind. As crews polished their skills and commanders grew accustomed to eh weight of command, Viggo began running planetary and orbital-station assault simulations. Using both fleets, and all his available troops, to complete the missions as best they could. Again each unit was scored against their peers, and some simulations were repeated if the initial run was a particularly abysmal failure. That wasn’t unexpected, though it was demoralizing for the crews. The co-ordination required was unlike anything practiced yet, so Viggo and the veterans took it in stride, and worked to do better next time. As they crews and soldiers grew more confident in each other and trusting that each would do their part, morale stabilized and began to rise as scores improved across the board. Banshee fleet lead the pack with ease in fleet objectives, but Incursio’s troops scored better on the station and ground objectives. Incursio’s fighters and bombers scored higher in CAS and Trench Runner roles, but suffered noticeably from a lack of experience in dogfights.
Overall things were... going as planned. Two more weeks of training were scheduled to get through these more complex simulations. After that rumors of an operation in the core might give the task-force it’s first real action. That rumor got people to put a little more effort into their training, so Viggo encouraged it though he never confirmed, or denied, it’s location since he had no idea himself.

As time had passed on and orders from the Admirality forced Jenia to return quickly from her brief absence as a commander, she would eventually take her flight to New Carida - though in another way than expected. As the Charybdis exited hyperspace, the Rearadmiral recapped her previous meeting at Kuat, where she had not solely departed from Lucien for the moment, but also met with the naval command in order to take command of one of the most recently designed Conservator-class Star Destroyers. With the Charybdis at her disposal, Jenia saw the value of this asset immidiately, as it centralized the weaknesses of two vulnerable Immobilizers to one larger ship to a single, major ship, granting it the capabilities of a Pellaeon-class Star Destroyer, yet improved. The perfect vessel, capable of combating larger ships, while still being maneuverable enough to keep up with the other ships within the fleet. Therefore changes would await both her fleet along with the Task Force of her Commodore.
Eventually the Charybdis would reach its main destination, the orbit of New Carida in close distance to both fleets, which she had left under Commodore Krzesimir Viggo 's command. Both the Commodore along with Jenia's two Star Destroyer captains, Naya Thax and Paxter Thorn, and Colonel Asmus were notified that she would hold a meeting aboard her new flagship within the conference room. A small group of Imperial Navy Commandos within their First Order armour would await their shuttle in order to escort them to the destined location aboard the modernized ship, featuring two large hangar bays inbetween the ship's center.

Commodore Viggo watched proudly as the last series of his planned exercises began, with Incursio assaulting and Banshee defending, a cobbled together imitation of a space station. The mock up was used since total destruction would be allowed, so a real station was out of the question. I did have several pressurized rooms, one cavernous hangar for civilian use only, one large depot room, and several small nodes for defense, life support, communication, command, leisure, and mess hall were included. Though the both interior and exterior of the structure were scoured with burns and patches from blasters, breaching charges, missiles, turbolasers, and ion cannon hits. It had served in several live-fire exercises already.
Incursio opened the exercise with probe droids arriving in system at several points in an inverted arc. Each probe began gathering data passively, as they drifted along their programmed path through the system. Upon being scanned they began scanning actively and accelerated along their spiraling course through the system. Each sent tight-cone shaped data streams back towards the edge of the system where shuttles waited to receive the data. There was a small danger of being detected and destroyed before they could leave, but it was very unlikely that the enemy commanders would act so desperately. And even if they did, well they wouldn’t be able to hit all the shuttles before they got away with the data.
The arrival of several new bodies in the system alerted Banshee Fleet to an external threat and the commander, having no idea who sent the probes sent flights of fighters to destroy the probes while calling her capital ships back to defend the vulnerable supply depot. Several of the fighters sent to destroy the probes noticed the encrypted data streams in the course of their mission. All the probes were unarmed droids programmed to follow a single flight path. So dispatching them proved a simple task. Flight control and sensor officers in Banshee Fleet worked to back track the data stream. Each line converged several light minutes out of the system. That far out was a bit much to risk a small ship in hyperspace, so it was reasonable to think the main task force might be out there. It was far enough to prevent a response from the garrison, as it would be too costly to leave the depot open to attack. Instead, Banshee commanders set up a defensive arc, facing the projected convergence point, and projected gravity wells in a three dimensional arc around the depot. Fighters were launched, weapons charged, and shields shifted forward to meet the coming enemy.
Incursio shuttles received the last of the data from their respective probes and each made a short jump away from the system in case their opponent had better sensor than intel lead them to believe. They then turned and jumped to a new location, a short distance away and above the Carida system relative to the galactic plane. Here Incursio lay in wait, and received the data as the shuttles were recovered and began projecting final positions of the enemy and predicted a standard defensive line near the depot. Guns were lined up with projected positions and half charged to reduce charge time without too much risk of misfire or other malfunctions.
The task force was brought out of Hyperspace early, thanks to the Banshee’s Immobilizer 418s. They didn’t get the approach vector right though, so their guns where aimed at empty space. The Banshee gunner’s discipline kept the guns silent, instead of firing prematurely, and quickly had the weapons tracking towards their targets. Fighters scrambled to shift their screen around between the task-force Incursio, above the fleet, and Banshee Fleet. Ships began the cumbersome process of maneuvering to face the enemy.
Incursio deployed fighters rapidly and charged shields and weapons instead of bringing the sub-light engines online immediately. This would make them easy targets to hit, but would also provide the guns stable platforms to fire from. Knowing the approach vector, and having preformed a basic reconnaissance of the system with several probe droids, had their guns lined up and ready to fire first. A withering salvo of ion cannons followed a half second later by turbolasers tore into the pride of Banshee Fleet, and the Banshee was hit along her dorsal surface. The hits to the bridge and aft surfaces were particularly devastating since shields had been shifted forward prematurely. The ship took substantial damage and was ruled disabled/destroyed for the reminder of the exercise. That would take a few weeks to repair, and Viggo cringed slightly at the thought of writing up that report…
Banshee responds with a furious salvo of their own turbolasers and the Perikles takes several hits despite it’s heavy shields. It’s armor holds though and the damage is largely superficial. Banshee’s fighters swarm across space meeting the opposing point defense and TIEs head on. The pilots, eager to avenge the loss of their command vessel focus on overwhelming and destroying every last enemy fighter. Commanders are lost in shock only a moment before the next officers in line begin issuing orders. They would destroy the Perikles and protect the Depot at all costs. The fire from the Vindicator-class cruisers, while ideal for fending ships of like size, were not well equipped for chewing through the heavily shielded and armored Liberator-class Light Star Destroyer. Still eight of them would be able to wear it down in time. This was an unfortunate start to the exercise would prove the superiority of the Banshee Fleet, and the men and women of the fleet were determined to see it through to the end. Morale remained high, despite the early set back.
Incursio capital ships began engaging their own sub-light drives, to maneuver behind the remaining vessels. They were aiming to pull in between the enemy fleet and the planet, so the planet’s gravity aided them, for now. Assault shuttles began launching and racing towards the depot. This was a bit of a desperate gamble, but the pilots were willing to risk it given the potential gain. The shuttles also raced along an arc that cut aft of the enemy fleet. Gunners shifted their attention as ordered, turbolasers were split by flanks, each targeting the remaining Victory they could hit. Perikles proudly showing off it’s full broadside potential, but also wary of the fighters swarming nearby. Ion cannons were directed to work with Fighter Command to help defeat the enemy fighters. The first salvo had a significant impact and even the shots that missed helped keep the allied fighters in flight a little longer by distracting the enemy. Incursio TIE Strikers then executed a complex maneuver in which they broke towards the center of the dogfight, and then flew past each other shooting at approaching pursuit vessels as they could. After passing allied pilots, they flew straight-ish, for another two seconds, releasing a short fuse proton bomb behind them as they did. Pushing their craft to the limit was not enough to prevent several Striker “fatalities” as the bombs went off. The destroyed craft had their IFFs changed automatically and controls and weapons disabled as the auto-pilot carried them away from combat on the most direct path possible, and then parked them near Viggo’s shuttle where he observed the conflict from the edge of the system.
Banshee Fleet continued to pitch back slowly, trying to minimize the effectiveness of the enemy’s maneuvers. Gunners easily kept the Perikles in their sights for now and pounded the ships beleaguered shields with another full salvo, trusting their fighters to chase down and deal with the assault shuttles. The Preikles suffered more hits on her hull but the armor held, though several batteries were now understrength. Banshee fighters were nearly decimated by the triple bait and switch run by the enemy Strikers. Pilots were further aggravated by the order to break off and intercept the assault shuttles, knowing it would free up the strikers to cause havoc elsewhere. The stealth squadron seemed to be forgotten, since it’s orders were given by the acting fleet commander now listed as dead thanks to a lucky opening salvo. Banshee’s remaining Victory II-class Star Frigates, adjusted their shields in time to avoid the Banshee’s fate, but would be in trouble soon if they couldn’t get their prows up faster to match the enemy maneuvers. The Vindicator-class cruisers, only slightly more agile than their larger counterparts, were also struggling to pitch up enough to keep their guns on the target for much longer. Two commanders took the initiative to order the energy being wasted in ventral guns and shields be redirected towards engines to increase their pitch rate. The Immobilizer 418 commanders, realizing the enemy was committed to winning this fight, dropped their gravity wells and began moving to follow the rest of the fleet. They avoided engaging Incursio directly, as that had proven disastrous in most of the prior exercises. Banshee Fleet had been sucker punched, but she was swinging back hard.
Incursio was edging out of the Vic II’s line of fire, though the other enemy ships, which were keeping up better, still held enough firepower to cripple the small task force. The Strikers were nearly gone, with less than a dozen remaining and still outnumbered three to one when the enemy suddenly broke away. Fighter Command quickly realized the new targets of the fighters and ordered the shuttles to break into evasive patterns, and the fighters to chase the enemy down and destroy as many as they could. The remaining Strikers gave chase, picking off enemy TIEs two or three at a time as they all raced after the shuttles. The shuttles broke and raced for their real targets, all but three that continued towards the station. Those three had been assigned to the now defunct Banshee. Three shuttles each raced towards Specter and Revenant respectively. Sixteen shuttles raced towards the enemy Vindicator-class cruisers in pairs, and each of the Immobilizer 418s were targeted by a single shuttle a piece. The full wing of TIE Demolishers were finally deployed, each of the seventy-two bombers was grouped into one of eighteen flights of four. Of these eighteen flights, sixteen were paired up against the eight enemy Vindicator-class cruisers, two flights per cruiser. The remaining two flights were tasked with destroying the Immobilizer 418s. None of the Demolishers were in range yet to engage the enemy, and hoped the shuttles and capital ships would be distraction enough for them to pass harmlessly. Perikles was significantly damaged, having lost about half of it’s guns. The remainder of which pounded against the dorsal and aft shields of the active enemy Vic IIs. The escorting Vindicators kept their light turbolasers on the active Vic IIs, and their point defense and light ion cannons on the enemy fighters. They hoped to give the assault shuttles the best chance they could to succeed. All three ships were moving rapidly down Carida’s gravity well, but would soon be arcing back up to stay in the enemy’s blind spot.
Banshee Fleet continued to pound the Perikles steadily chewing through the ships tough armor. The commanders realized what the shuttles were trying to do almost immediately and turned what guns they could against the shuttles. Banshee’s own TIE Demolishers were deployed against the shuttles. The nearly forgotten stealth squadron attacked the unescorted enemy bombers. Specter and Revenant were now taking hits to their aft quarter, though the damage to the Perikles and shifting angle of attack allowed the shields to hold a little longer than they might have otherwise. But the rear had always been a weakness of the imperial designs, and they wouldn’t last long against sustained punishment. Their captains rerouted power from the now useless forward guns to the aft shields, hoping to extend their life a little longer. Troopers were sent to hangar bays to greet the expected boarders, and the command decks were sealed as per standard operating procedures for repelling boarders. The TIEs dropping quickly to combined point defense batteries, shuttle turrets, and the unanswered pursuing Strikers claimed two shuttles and damaged three others while evasively harassing the shuttles.
Incursio ships began decelerating as they pulled up again and tried to stay in the Vic II’s. Perikles is struggling to maintain it’s return fire, it’s batteries reduced to a little under half strength. But the rear shields on the Vic IIs finally fall and hits begin to take effect, as the shuttles assigned to those craft veer back towards the station, taking pot shots at enemy fighters where they can. Strikers continue to pursue and hound the remaining enemy fighters, scoring another handful of kills but still have almost two to one odds against them. The Demolishers launch a wave of anti-fighter concussion missiles at the enemy bombers before shifting to heavier proton torpedoes for their primary targets. The first few die suddenly under the surprise attack, and the rest begin evasive actions but proceed to targets and launch their torpedoes salvos doggedly, even as it costs the loss of several flights. Each wave consists of two missiles or torpedoes per active bomber. The missiles do little but give the shuttles a brief respite, the torpedoes have a more substantial effect, dropping shields to dangerous levels and scoring a few lucky hits. The handful of surviving shuttles arrive at their destinations begin breaching the command deck hulls directly, putting troops almost directly onto the bridge of three Vindicators. These were ruled disabled. One shuttle makes it to the station and unloads it’s two platoons of Stormtroopers but the commander proceeds cautiously not knowing what lies ahead. The station is empty, and is soon ruled captured, ending the exercise.
Viggo shows his first real emotion since the beginning of the exercise as he dresses down Incursio’s commander for being a reckless fool, throwing away valuable lives and resources for what amounted to a strategic loss and a very technical tactical win. Such shortsightedness and wanton disregard for Imperial personnel and resources would not be tolerated. That quelled the previously jubilant atmosphere across the taskforce. He was less livid when addressing Banshee Fleet but was clearly disappointed with the predictability and one dimensional response offered by the junior officers. This should have been a resounding defeat for the aggressor, but instead it was total disaster for both sides.
As time had passed on and orders from the Admirality forced Jenia to return quickly from her brief absence as a commander, she would eventually take her flight to New Carida - though in another way than expected. Sometime during the exercise Rear-Admiral Jenia had returned… and required his presence on board a new vessel, no doubt her new flag given it’s size and bristling armament. He directed all ships to return to their orbital staging points and effect any necessary repairs, which few should need since the munitions had been carefully made duds or purposefully under-powered shots. Then he directed his pilot to take him to see the newly returned admiral. He reviewed the more detailed data of the exercise as the shuttle traversed the open space. Upon docking he collected his datapad and then stepped to greet his escort and be lead to his final destination, once more the picture of calm confidence and professionalism. Arriving in the conference room he saluted, and stood at attention until directed to take a seat or stand elsewhere.

The conference room itself was spartanic in terms of interior, offering only the necessary holotable and a few comfortable seats, as well as some monitors to the side of the walls, yet it fullfilled its purpose despite giving the room a complete stale greyish look. The Rear Admiral herself, dressed in her usual uniform, sat down once everyone else had arrived within the room, offering everyone present a seat. The six Novatroopers, which usually represented Jenia's bodyguard stood already vigilant at the sides of the room, two of them at the closed door outside. Over the last weeks, Commodore Viggo was at least able to know five of them, among them their leader NT-711 -or as the squadron called him "Prometheus"- since the sixth had accompanied Jenia to her personal journey towards Prakith. Each of these commando bodyguards were capable of protecting the present officers with ease, though luckily there had been no serious situation within recent time, which had required these services.
Out of the present persons among the officers, Captain Thax seemed to be especially worried in terms of expression, most likely because of the most recent exercise. Being next to Thorne and Asmus one of Jenia's closest advisors, the female captain was quite ambitious herself in terms of improving her own abilities - thus it was clear that the outcome of the most recent combat exercise couldn't satisfy her as all, given that it meant a failure to her own inabilities as well. And unlike Viggo she wasn't aware of how much Jenia already knew nor how the Commodore would present the results. The two other senior officers, older and more expierienced than the younger female, seemed more relaxed at least. Viggo recalled that they were neither satisfied with their results and promised to get rid of the mistakes being made, yet they seemed less troubled of what was to come. Given their backstory it wasn't too surprising. Paxter Thorne served in the past alongside Jenia, when she was a captain herself, he had no higher ambitions rather than to command one cruiser and serve his commander and the Empire faithfully - thus he probably knew the Rear Admiral better than his colleague Thax, who pretty much got promoted to the rank of Captain more recently after Jenia herself became Rear Admiral. While Colonel Asmus was already quite old in his midfifties, knowing that mistakes hardly matter if they can be seen as chances to learn from. His profile indicated that he participated in a lot of battles, which the First Order fought, unlike most officers of his rank, who might have never seen more than the battle simulations on New Carida themselves until their promotion, claiming even that he served before within other Imperial Remnant factions before they got all united under the banner of Nicademus. The rest of the captains wasn't even present - Jenia would probably call them over in time, once she had heard Viggo's report and discussed matters regarding the flagships and the overall fleet.
Other than that though the atmosphere was calm as Jenia's icy eyes mustered every single person within the room curiously, before she adressed Krzesimir Viggo directly. "Status report Commodore", was all she demanded to know. No real smalltalk, no introduction, Jenia was completely formal and wished to know straight away what has happened within her absence. As officers were used to, no matter how long they knew her. It wasn't anything untypical, yet neither anything unexpected. Probably it would have been more of a surprise if that cold aura surrounding her when being busy with the Imperial Navy had melted already with the young Needa's help - it seemed though that heat had already worn off for the moment.

Viggo took the seat offered to him, and having regained his composure was the perfect picture of subordinate officer. He noticed the others peripherally but kept his professional focus on Rear Admiral Kasalle. When ordered to report, as he had expected her to do, he started with the simple exercises which had been successful. He let his datapad send the figures to the holoprojector and rotate through various displays of units and performance scores. He then presented the more complex maneuvers and the resutling scores and follow up critiques and suggestions, including an obstacle course for the larger ships to practice maneuvers in. Something he'd failed to anticipate and prepare for, despite it's usefulness. Viggo didn't waste time apologizing for his failure, but continued with the report covering the latest simulation. Anyone who had heard his open broadcast immediately after the exercise would not readily recognize the report he gave as being about the same action.
In this report he praised the use of forward reccon and the successful attempt to mislead the defenders regarding the fleet's approach vector. He especially praised the use of the enemy gravity well projectors to pull the fleet out in tight formation in an unexpected place. However the assault plan was to brazen, and the casualties incurred too severe to count the operation a success by any realistic measure. While the defending fleet survived the loss of it's flag in the opening moments with barely a stutter, before exacting a harsh and vicious vengeance on the attackers. The inexperienced commanders allowed themselves to be too focused on the enemy flag ship to appropriately disable the enemy assault, though they did manage to render it ineffective even with their preoccupation. This was a testament to the gunners and TIE pilots tasked with destroying them. He ended with a smile and confident declaration of readiness.
"These ships and personnel are now ready for the rigors of combat. Some still lack the wisdom of experience, but your senior officers will be able to guide them to victory in any engagement you task them with winning. No force is without fault, but this force has ironed out the most atrocious of faults in Imperial forces and replaced them with Discepline, Confidence, and Courage. I pity the bastards in your sights Ma'am, they're going to be swimming in the void for a long time. End Report."
The final score bard, listing each ship individually and the score they had been given by Jenia's own senior officers over the course of the entire training period was displayed now, with a new column. This column represented the % efficiency rating based on Official Navy expectations. Every ship on the list exceeded 100%, every ship was performing better than Brass thought they were capable of performing, and that was with the Jr. Officers in charge. The entire fleet, Banshee Fleet plus the Incursio ships, averaged a 112% efficiency rating. As long as each crew kept up it's drill schedule, that number would stay steady or even rise a little higher. Viggo left it up as he sat back, further indicating that he was done with his report in his posture.

Taking the results so far neutral, some time passed before Jenia nodded, so far pleased with the summary of the event. "Then this iron will be used well for smiting it as it is still warm", she said solely, continiueing on with the next revelation as if it was nothing, "Prepare the fleets without further hesitation, we have new orders. In a few hours I wish every ship moving to Foreost for meeting up with the main force of the operation." "Operation?" Colonel Asmus looked up slightly irritated raising an eyebrow. There had been no information of any massive imperial operation during the last days, safe the time of Jenia's absence. If matters seemed so dire to press on, it was something important. "I have no further details, but given Grand Admiral Needa's words the entire strength of my fleet is required for whatever orders we recieve afterwards", the Rear Admiral stated dramatic, yet truthful, eyeing now Commodore Viggo directly, "Commodore Viggo, I officially transfer hereby the Revenant along with the Siren and Lorelei towards the command of Incursio fleet. Captain Thax will take my command over the Banshee as the Charybdis will from now on serve as the official flagship of my fleet. This will include command over Banshee squadron as well." Naya Thax' eyes widened in surprise, as she faithfully nodded. The weight of this sudden change meant a lot, no matter how often she was present aboard the Banshee within recent time. Once everyone had realized of what just happened, her eyes fixed on Krzesimir again. Any further questions, Commodore?

Ah, the fleets were needed already, good thing they'd been training. Figures began shifting in Viggo's head as it began the tackling logistical necessities of a moving fleet. And now he'd need to include... firefek woman! give a commander a chance to learn his command before venting his entire bridge section... okay, well that would prove interesting logistically, but would be feasible. He was more concerned with how this would affect morale going into a pending conflict... The instability shouldn't prove catastrophic, but it could be a hindrance to efficient maneuvers for the the next significant battle at least.
"Twenty three standard hours, the fleets will need at least that long to be fully stocked and battle ready. And are you certain you wish to shift command chains now? That could adversely affect crew morale, I advise caution when deploying beyond the staging ground. Once the fighting starts things should be fine, but the uncertainty prior to battle will be worse than usual with the sudden shift of commands. If there are no further concerns; then I would like to begin seeing to the logistics of getting us to Foreost Ma'am. Also, congratulations Thax on your promotion."
