From what I understand. Profiles and posts have different BBC codes and markup.

That is correct, I had to write custom code to process BBCode on profiles, and for the time being, I used the BBCode from the old site. I believe most of those codes also work in posts, but ProBoards converts everything to a sort of pseudo-HTML that's more complex than BBCode.
I'll see about putting up some sort of guide when I get chance.

Or if someone else wants to start writing one, that would be even better!

So far, it's seemed that the old codes we're used to work, but the site converts them to something else. So you're probably safe to stick with the old codes if you'd like, though I don't deny the usefulness of a guide for the stuff.
Also, one thing I noticed: Notification markers in the silver theme are dark ad hard to read. Any way to make those stay red like on the default theme, or maybe a brighter color?

Aer: Yes, I noticed that too. Notification markers were the one thing I didn't test when setting the colors, because, well, I didn't have any notifications at the time. They'll be fixed when I get a chance.

Wahoo! I have color!
So old codes for profiles, new codes for posting. i gotcha. Thanks for the help.
I will see about typing up what I know and start a thread somewhere in the Far, Far Away section where people can add to it :-)

Random thing I noticed: When I try to search, results aren't turning up beyond a certain time now. I can't pinpoint when, I'd estimate about 24 hours ago is when the cutoff seems to be. Is this a bug? Did I hit some setting by mistake when searching or in my profile settings? I don't think I hit anything while searching, since I tried multiple times while completely reloading the search bar. Did searching just get unindexed, or is Proboards just being dumb?

Speaking of, Chilly dearest; the little notification bubbles for Messages and notifications are almost invisible on the Grey/Silver version. Not a big deal, just thought I'd note that, if you ever did tweaks, they could do with being a little brighter and blend into the background less...

Quick Bug for Profiles: I can't seem to get Font Sizing to work. Any sort of code I try will not make the text smaller. Using Google Chrome. I've tried using both the normal proboards system of 1, 2, 3, etc., and the original JvS deal where it was based on "100" for default size.

Another quick suggestion: Is it possible to make it so that we have to click the actual shoutbox button to bring up the shoutbox, rather than include the blank space to the right of it as well? Just a minor nuisance, really, but something I thought was worth asking.

I'm going to be off the grid for a few days, but I'll take a look when I get back. I believe the font sizes run from 10 to 40 but I don't have time to check right now.

Glad to see that the site is back up. Nexus was starting to become a part of the real world since I couldn't let him live his life on the boards. I look forward to shenanigans once more!

Just wondering if the Whills are working lately on any of the requests I and others have made on the "Locations and User Group Requests" thread here on the site. Hope everything is going ok.

I heard the site was back up and decided to come along and check it out, upon looking at it and negotiating it something occurred to, no, not occurred but more began to puzzle me.
Upon the old site there was the message asking for donations to go toward a new site, to be used to make it better and more reliable, many, myself included donated our own hard earned money toward the site, placing our faith in Christian to handle our money and use it to make a good site for us.
Yet I come to the new site and find the site is in fact a free site, a free site with adverts upon it.
Now I know a little about sites and I know for a fact that with the amount I and others have donated, we could have paid for an entire year for a site with no advertising and without experiencing the lag that I have on occasion found on this site while taking a look around.
As I am sure you can understand these facts have made me more than curious, and nervous as to where our donations have been spent.
Could someone please explain this to me as, having given my own money to the running of this site, I am entitled to a break down of where exactly my money has gone.

Hi there, and thank you for your enquiry.
Firstly, I have reason to believe that you are in fact a permabanned person attempting to once again circumvent your ban. Which - if true - makes me wonder why you were donating in the first place.
Secondly, I should point out that it is in fact costing money to keep the old site running, even in its current state, and though this particular site (proboards) is in fact free, there are premium options which are not, and we are currently in the process of investigating which of these options would most benefit our userbase.
Thirdly, I would be very surprised if your idea of what the old site cost was anywhere close to accurate - paying for not just the servers but the bandwidth was certainly more than I thought, before I found out.
And lastly, I can honestly say that Christian and all of the Whill team do indeed appreciate all donations (even though the Whill team itself doesn't see a dollar of it) because those donations DO make a difference to the service provided. So if you did indeed donate, then thank you. And a big thank you to everyone else who has donated as well. Unfortunately for you, it is not our policy to provide a breakdown of exact expenses, any more than a charity would when you drop a note in their collection box.
I hope this has satisfied both yours and others' concerns, but if not, please ask as I'd be happy to elaborate further.

Thank you Peter for your swift reply, Which had I tried to access through the normal path I would have not been able to since there is/was a site wide error…..
Anyway. You suspect me being a perm banned member because???? I dare challenge where the money from the donations of us members of the site is being used? Or because I did not reveal my true username through concern of retribution?
Despite your suspicions you are very very wrong, I am not Vale *yawns at the narrow minded assumption*. I am a site user who wishes to know where their money is being spent as there has been no evidence of it.
In reference to the points you have made (which seem to be dancing around the subject rather than answering). We the users were not informed our donations would be used/wasted on keeping a dead site up and running, this matter, I am not alone in thinking, should have been put to the members.
Secondly, do not assume me ignorant of the cost of the site. Before I made the donation, and after seeing your request for help for the old site via FB, I did the responsible thing and did a little research, so I am more than aware of the large amount it costs to run a site such as JvS.
People (when I say people I mean Whills using their character identities, You know who you are!) continue to attempt to demean members on the site, chat, Twitter, who ask questions or say anything remotely negative about the running of the site, the problems the site has etc with the phrase “this is a free site!”, it is NOT a free site when members are putting their own money into it, and the attitude we are seeing in response to this is “the Whills have rl lives “, yes, they do, however that does not mean to say that does not mean you should not do your job, if your rl is too busy to make the site run effectively, step down and let someone take your place who is willing and able to do the work. Another attitude you see, if you read between the lines “how dare you challenge us mighty whills”, we dare as we have a right to ask to questions, we have the right to express our concerns and not be shot down for voicing them. I saw someone challenged by Inky at the beginning of this thread for asking a simple question on why did it take so long to get the site up and running, and why were we not kept informed, all of these valid questions yet it appears we are now going to be told what we can and cannot say to those in power? Here we are with an example of this attitude again, I ask where our money is being spent and I am met with false accusations as to my identity and told I am not in anyway entitled to know how it is spent?
You say a charity/ “non profit organisation does not explain these things but they do, by law they are obliged to. I know this as a member of my family (close member) I a CEO of a ‘charity’. This is how I know that JvS being a non profit organisation should be declared to whatever government agency oversees these things in your country, and accounts have to be declared and such, is Christian doing this? These are the agencies that safe guard the public donations and make sure they are being spent accordingly, and not filtered into the pocket of whoever ‘runs’ it. These are the laws for the UK anyway.
So, as an act of good faith, do we, the members of the site, not get the same courtesy? Would we, if there is nothing to hide, be better off knowing the running costs? Maybe it would be wise to ensure that we can all trust the almighty Whills with our money to ensure it is being spent where we think it should and not going into their pockets instead?
Now instead of dealing with this where I would actually prefer Christian replying, why don’t you deal with the many admin requests?

Hardly narrow-minded to suspect you might be Vale when your IP address comes from almost the exact same geographic location as his. But if you say you aren't, I'll take you at face value.
Now, you want to call me Peter? When you know that we try to differentiate between the Whill and the person for a reason? Fine. In that case, I'll answer you as Peter, instead of as Odin. Odin would have been more diplomatic. Quite frankly, I find your clear insinuation that you have to remain anonymous lest you face reprisals to be highly offensive. If you or any other user of this site has an issue then, as always, we are here to hear it. Same as we have done for the past 7 years. We don't ban people for disagreeing with us or you would have been gone a long time ago.
Now, you want to talk donations. Fine. You CHOOSE to donate. Don't bitch about it now. If you didn't ask what it would go towards beforehand, that's your problem. Because this is NOT a non-profit organisation. It's not an organisation at all. That donation was legally speaking a donation directly to Christian himself, and money given freely between individuals is not required to be accounted for by law. And I tell you now, all the money that has been donated has come nowhere near how much its cost him to run it for the last 7 years. You think he does this for a profit? No way. He's lost money. Lots. So don't go pointing fingers when you clearly have no idea, regardless of whatever internet research you may have done.
Speaking of the old site - before you criticise the decision to keep it, you should probably take a good look of your fellow players... it was from talking to many of them that the decision was made to maintain that history so everyone could continue to access it.
At the end of the day though, we could go back and forth for hours, but there'd be little point, so I'll only ask this; if you are so bitter about your money and the Whills and other players, why the hell are you still here anyway? That's the question, isn't it? Because this site will always be run by the Whills, and the Whills will never be perfect, and if you were a Whill you wouldn't do it any better than we do. But go ahead, sit back and criticise. You are clearly good at it.
As for Christian, don't expect him to drop by anytime soon.
