Atlantis had muted himself and gave his undivided attention to the Detective. He listened attentively to the description of how the other gangs worked and it sounded just from that, Sike was smart enough to keep his hands clean more or less, if he avoided prosecution one way or the other, then Atlantis definitely granted Sike that. Then again, what did Atlantis know about that to begin with? That area wasn't supposed to be his jurisdiction so he never paid much attention to the crimes non-Force related on the planet. After he was placing his faith in Detective Pakchoain’s assessment and he trusted her judgment so whatever UPD had planned concerning those two witnesses and whoever they were tailing currently, that matter was something he relegated away from his priorities.
When Mace called out his attention, Atlantis’ head turned in her direction and he looked at her dubiously for a moment, yes he recalled telling the Kiffar Master about that thing that Crystal found odd, or too fast so to speak and for the time being, Atlantis was drawing a blank and he did not know where she was getting at, until he remembered that Mace always processed several information at the same time and that led her to always think ahead no matter the circumstances…
Now he got it, and he definitely understood where she was getting at especially when she requested the Detective to tail that editor that Crystal mentioned that very morning when she read the news before they all set off towards the government building.
“No, Detective.” Atlantis told her with an amiable tone because of course, Nazani could be thinking that, that Mace was potentially implying that, but not at all actually. Mace’s mind worked different than most of the average sentient beings and even the ones attuned to the Force. “Councilor Vos is implying that whoever might have managed to put him there with the recent so called suici-…” Atlantis took a deep breath and shook his head, he actually couldn’t take that chance, so he cut himself short and looked at Mace knowingly.
“If whoever already knows what happened there at Sike, it could be the actual culprit and therefore that darksider we are looking for.” Atlantis came to that conclusion, considering that the one they were looking for was talented enough to manipulate people’s vision with putting Andros’ face right in front of the survivors, maybe he or she will be the one to see Healy. “Send Ayla after she is done talking to Andros…” He instructed because there was no way he was going to let the suits take care of that if Mace’s assessment turned out to be true.
No way…
When they finally arrive at the crime scene, Atlantis stepped out of the airspeeder and closed his eyes momentarily as he processed the Detective’s words, so most of the guards were outdoors, perfect. Atlantis opened his eyes again and looked at the Detective thoughtfully before tilting his head on the side. “Gloating, no.” Atlantis shook his head because he did not believe that, unless that darksider was here for a reason and considering that he or she went for the big fish, it was more than gloating and with the TOD significantly later than the other killings, and something else came to mind. “Extracting information, yes.” However those information were taken, Atlantis had no idea, it couldn’t have been mind-reading because that would have taken quicker.
So probably however way else…
“Actually, no Detective, I do not need to get inside.” Atlantis said thoughtfully before looking back at her with a faint smile. “At least, not for now.” Looking at the two forensic techs with an amiable smile before he inclined his head to greet them, he looked for a moment as what they were wearing and remembered their height to hopefully not see them per se roaming around here.
When Atlantis focused right in front of him, he clenched his fists before canalizing the Force to him to the point that his signature went over his stygium until he opened his eyes again and saw that distinctive silhouette he was looking for that was moving too fast compared to the other guards that were on sentry duty. Atlantis groaned and willed himself to replay that scene that only him could see over and over again.
“Mace.” Atlantis called out before pointing at his temple and then pointing right in front of him to redirect her attention towards the mist where nothing was clearly present right now but to him there was evidence, although that silhouette was moving fast and the others were dropping quickly one by one at a quick rate.
“Could you outline that please with the fiber’s description you were given?” Atlantis knew that she understood immediately, so that didn’t worry him, but what worried him right now, it was the people that were with him. It was the reason why he looked behind him to the four ladies with a warm smile.
“Please stand behind me, at all times, for a few moment.” Either way, Atlantis took a step back and drew a line between him and Mace, completely clearing the mist in a foot width.

Sighing inaudibly and almost out of boredom, Mace did not even bother to reply when the Detective started being on the defensive. . . That wasn’t what Mace meant, far from it, granted that she did not explain, but then again Mace was no longer used to working with people that did not know her. If she could, she would avoid working with people that barely knew her too. Right this instant; she was reminded why she always preferred to do things on her own too. Yes, Mace wasn’t that much of a talker and no, she clearly didn’t like explaining herself, going into details each time she said something.
The Force help her then and there. . .
Thankfully for Mace but also maybe for the Detective, Atlantis was more inclined to speak and share. At least he was explaining it to a certain point and maybe, just maybe the Detective was going to get where Mace currently found herself with her line of thoughts.
“Ayla, it is. . .” Said Mace after hearing Atlantis’ order before glancing at him meaningfully as if she was currently warning him that she did not want to hear a complaint from the Detective due to this matter that was obviously taken over by the Mist Order. Mace had no time to deal with those futilities and she clearly did not want to deal with any type of social relations between Force users and non-Force users.
Yes, she probably sounded or looked arrogant then and there, but there were things that were far more important in her opinion than detailing every action of hers, or every thought of hers. Currently, Mace only wanted one thing and one thing only, it was to find whoever did this and whoever potentially impersonated Andros because the Vice-Governor still had the shortest of fuse than ever. Especially currently with everything he had been dealing with.
Part of her actually wished that Ayla was in her place, because Mace was certain that her cousin was more approachable in a way, or maybe just easier to talk with. But Ayla wasn’t here, Mace was and that was something she was going to be dealing with. Mace should probably re-learn how to deal with people no matter what the circumstances were. . . Although she currently wasn’t holding her breath about that for the time being, lest something drastically happened, but again, not holding her breath.
Finally though, they had arrived at their desire location, and Mace could just step out of the airspeeder and breathe. Maybe it was just the wrong thing to do, to just slightly pull away from the three others, but currently she really needed to breathe with all the thoughts that were tossing and turning in her mind. During the time Atlantis spoke with whoever he needed to speak, Mace pulled her datapad out and sent an encoded message to Ayla to track down that Doran Healy and even get the data from the Deputy Director of Intelligence if necessary, but just to track him down and start surveillance on him.
Returning to where Atlantis was currently standing, Mace looked right in front of her for a moment in silence before syncing herself with what he was currently seeing. Mace was thankful that Atlantis always left his mind over to her when it was necessary, and despite not currently seeing a thing, Mace could see through his own mind those silhouettes that only he could see due to how he came to master the mist for himself. . .
“Natural origin, right?” Asked Mace rhetorically while she removed one by one her gloves and let Atlantis stand back for a moment. Channeling the Force inside of her, Mace closed her eyes briefly to concentrate and remember the images she saw in Atlantis’ mind, she knew that she had to drain the mist of the humidity otherwise she would be causing a chain reaction with what she was about to do. . . Clearly she did not want that, although she was thankful that Atlantis had created a breach between her and the others.
Mace usually did not do this, she usually increased the humidity in the mist, but tonight, it was a whole different matter, which required of her to be concentrated more. Tucking her gloves into her belt, Mace removed her cloth and tossed that in the breach that Atlantis created and it already looked like her own cloth was creating that static from the electricity that her fingertips were forming.
I really hate this part. . . Thought Mace, as when she finally opened her eyes, their colors had changed leaving her with a gray stare and she began to send multiple little balls of electricity not as big as two millimeters of diameter each all over in the mist hoping that whoever had been standing there with that natural origin clothing would have left a mark right then and there into the mist.
All of the balls were scattered, that went without saying due to the fact that the person who had committed that crime moved fast, but looking right in front of her, it felt like it was a joyous event with fireworks except that the balls remained where they were until she brought them altogether with the Force to outline that silhouette that Atlantis had been seeing all along.
Judging from the height, it definitely couldn’t have been Andros, he was taller than that. “Definitely not you or your brother, Atlantis.” That was a given, they all knew that, but from the flat surface, Mace didn’t even start to guess if it was male or female. Sighing softly and shaking her head, Mace looked over her shoulder in Atlantis’ direction and still she had no cut her connection to the Force but her gaze returned to normal, thankfully.
“Who do you know is at that height here?”

Umgul City - Sike's EstateNazani crinkles her nose skeptically when Atlantis, apparently trying to make sense of what Councilor Vos had meant by her suggestion that Healy be assigned a tail, makes even less sense than Vos had. The idea that Healy is working with or for the Force user responsible for the attack on Sike is far fetched enough, in Nazani's opinion, without adding in some half baked idea about the suicide of a prominent editor having been faked for the purpose of getting Healy promoted in his place. Nazani has seen the coroner's reports concerning the suicide in question, knows the case the investigating detective's built, and can't for the life of her understand how the Jedi have leapt to their conclusions, primarily since neither of them seem concerned about anyone other than themselves understanding what the frak is going through their heads. Fortunately, the Jedi elect to send one of their own to keep an eye on Healy, sparing Nazani the unenviable task of trying to convince her chief to put the editor under surveillance without understanding herself how the Jedi have arrived at the conclusion he could be involved in what is going on.
Standing back with Aninh and the forensic tech when instructed to do so, Nazani watches as the Jedi work together to somehow reconstruct an image of the killer, using their abilities to manipulate the mist and electricity to do so. The image, a silhouette of a cloaked figure, is, as pointed out, definitely shorter than the Vice Governor or Grandmaster, and of a thinner build, but they already knew the Vyridians were not involved, so Nazani isn't sure how useful what they have seen is. "About half the fripping population of any given planet, Nazani answers Councilor Vos' question even though it was not directed at her, then sighs and says, That was real neat and all, truly, but I don't see that it helps us much other than narrowing down our suspect list to Force sensitive bipeds under six feet tall with thin builds. Which, she admits with another sigh, is more than we knew before, so sorry if I sound bitchy. Nazani has been on the clock for most of the day and night, and she can tell that her exhaustion isn't making dealing with the frustration of working with strangers that don't always explain their lines of reasoning any easier, and so she suggests, Unless there's anything else you need to see here, I say we head to the coroner's and see if he's learned anything and then call it a night, or morning, whatever. I don't know about you all, but I'm frelling beat. Maybe some sleep will give us a fresh perspective to look at this frakking mess from." Umgul City - 23rd Precinct “Oi. Mad . . . Aninh wants to know if we can get a surveillance team on Arezou. She okayed me to start if the UPD doesn’t have the people to spare. She also wants to keep the teams on the Niktos if possible. Not sitting since she might be getting right back up depending on what the Rodian needs to do or does not need to do to get things moving, Nuala leans against a wall and asks, What do you think the chances are we can do all that?” Nemes looks up from the file he has been reading when Aninh's partner returns, setting it aside and stretching his thin arms overhead as he answers her question, "I'd say the odds are good we'll get the go ahead, and then stands, loosening his tie with his suction cup tipped fingers with a sigh as he adds, but getting the warm bodies to do the watching might prove more difficult. Hang tight, the Rodian says as he starts for the door, I'll run it by the chief and see what happens."
Returning a few moments later, Nemes gives the Ranger a thumbs up, his tapir-like snout curling up in a grin as he says, "Good to go. Chief'll have a pair of watchers on Arezou as soon as they can get their equipment together. You want me to make sure you get copies of any reports the teams make so you and Aninh stay looped in?"

Umgul City — Sike’s Estate
Atlantis looked at the figure that had been shaped and even though he was flinching briefly at Mace’s aura, he was satisfied that it worked because that was a start and he would probably be able to backtrace that with Mace or without Mace since he knew now which shape to focus on and what to completely overlook.
If he had been fortunate enough, the assailant or killer in this instant, walked all the way here to commit the crime and maybe returned to where he or she came from…
“I believe that, I will not need to see anything else but what I am currently seeing right now.” Atlantis said before he looked at Mace and lifted his index finger to make a circular movement in the air so that she widens her focus in the perimeter; it was not for him or Mace considering that Mace could read his mind and that he had noticed that same silhouette retreating once again.
But it was for the Detective and the Ranger to follow a certain trail. Although the Detective was tired, that was understandable but he couldn’t lose this trail, and time was of the essence for him. “Don’t worry about it, Detective, get some rest if you want, but I am not going to leave just yet, because I don’t want this to run cold.” He stated before he slowly turned his head to find that silhouette he was looking for, but plenty were still overlapping and that was just a hindrance to him, which was why he told Mace to…
“Send a pulses right in front of you, I don’t need you to form the shape any longer but just follow the trail of where your little balls of electricity are attaching themselves with the static that remained in the mist.” Atlantis said, although he knew that he did not need to spell that out to Mace because again, she already knew what he had in mind, he was just doing that for the people that weren’t keeping up with how they worked.
“I’ll point you each time to where I can see that silhouette.” By the Force, it sounded like he was lecturing a Master Jedi, the Kiffar Master Jedi who he still considered as being above him in every aspect of the Force and that all by itself was annoying him somehow. Atlantis rubbed the root of his nose and took a deep breath before he walked over to pick up Mace’s cloth.
“If you want to come with, or even the techs.” Atlantis began to say with a faint smile over his shoulder, hey who knew what other clues they might find along the way? “Feel free, otherwise, take the night off if you feel like you need to rest now.”

Mace closed her eyes briefly at the Detective’s words. . . There was a point to begin with and Mace wasn’t even sure that she could isolate the static to begin with, despite her hands still creating some sparks of electricity, she never cut her connection to the Force but she lessened it gradually now that she knew what she was looking for and now that she knew that it was going to help. . .
“Detective, just remember that we never do things mindlessly,” Said Mace after Nazani’s apology. It sounded that she did not even to further explain considering that Atlantis was doing all the talking, only that Mace was currently half listening because she already knew. She knew that if he called it a night now, he would lose the trail, like she would also; the imprint of the fiber would disappear from the mist. That much was a given, so no she wasn’t about to head inside to do whatever because for better or for worse, Mace or Atlantis wouldn’t find anything inside and this was more important than anything else right now. . .
Mace released the figure that she gathered together from the mist before she followed Atlantis’ lead who didn’t quite needed to point her in which direction because she could see the silhouette in his mind, but right now, she just sent a ball of electricity discharge each time it was required so that a trail of breadcrumbs, so to speak, started to form.
“Can you see from the movement if it’s male or female yet, or not?” Asked Mace midway towards the exit of the estate. Although she knew that they couldn’t define it still considering that there were enough baseline sentient with that corporal shape and that insofar, it might have looked to her that the culprit had a predatory stance even when walking. . .
Why did that person even walk. . .? Right to be more discrete, no doubt about that, but she was really hoping that this matter would be resolved quickly before someone, like Andros, lost it. Continuing with her talk and even when she passed those agents at the front gate, Mace continued to send pulses of electricity in the directions that Atlantis was pointing. . .

The surveillance teams assigned to the Niktos, Strago and Orainn, have an uneventful evening. Neither Strago nor Orainn venture from their homes, and neither make or receive additional comms.
The surveillance team assigned to Arezou, when it is in place at or near the apartment tower atop which the Weequay’s penthouse sits, will learn from her comm activity that she, too, was not involved with the attack on Sike. Arezou’s initial concern is for her own security, the first communications she initiates used to increase her own personal security at her penthouse, with her next comm being to Klivian. Arezou suggests to her associate that he increase his security, and the two then speculate as to whether Strago and Orainn’s report that Andros Vyridian was the attacker can be believed, and if so, whether it means that Umgul’s government and law enforcement have decided to abandon legal means of attacking organized crime and resort to tacit approval of vigilante measures. Nothing the two say, however, amounts to admitting their own involvement in criminal activity, meaning that the primary fact the surveillance team learns is that the two are almost certainly not involved in the evening’s earlier events.
Master Vos will not find Doran Healy at his residence, though if she thinks to look for him at the offices of his new service she will be able to locate him. Healy remains at the offices well into the following morning, working on the morning’s edition of his news services’s holonet and printed newspaper. The only individuals that enter or leave the news service’s offices are employees of the service, and Helay’s comm activity, similarly consists only of communications to or from employees or UPD officials. The morning edition of Healy’s news service will report only on those details that the UPD provided to all new agencies; noting that a suspected head of a criminal organization had been killed along with six individuals identified as employees of a private security firm hired to protect the Bothan’s home. Healy has a role to play in Lyov and Helaine’s plans, but the time has not yet come for him to fulfill it; the editor, for now, is not unlike a game piece that has been positioned on the board for later use.
Grandmaster Vyridian and Councilor Vos will be able to follow the path the ghostly figure their abilities have allowed them to reconstruct easily enough from Sike’s residence into the city center, the fact that the estate is relatively isolated making it simple to locate a single figure moving alone. The Jedi may perhaps even be skilled enough to note that the figure’s movements become more relaxed as it reaches the streets that, hours earlier, would have still been busy as participants in the city’s nightlife would have been going about their business for hours to come. The shadowy figure then joins what would appear to the Jedi using their unique abilities as the ghostly ebb and flow of the pedestrian traffic the figure met and melted into once in the city, and the question then becomes whether the Jedi Grandmaster and Councilor can reasonably be expected to isolate a single being and its path amid the crowds it had blended into hours earlier. A second challenge facing the Jedi, and one that any Force user would also face, would be whether they both have the mental stamina and focus that would be required of them to call upon the Force for such an extended period of time. . .

Illuminating. Echo. Pattern. Unwrapping.
Madieke does not understand what Atlantis is attempting to do until Vos illuminates a silhouette of the perp. Madieke has never heard of powers like those the Jedi are using, Vos apparently able to telepathically ‘see’ what Atlantis is ‘seeing’ and then using electricity to enable them all to ‘see’ it as well. The silhouette, cloaked and wearing clothing that makes determining the sex of the silhouette difficult, gives them a few new facts to add to their suspect profile such as height and a narrower list of possible species the perp could be.
When Atlantis and Vos begin to try and backtrack the perp, creating a trail of illuminated silhouette’s to follow, Madieke motions for the techs to come with them in case they find any potential trace evidence, and tells Pakchoain, “Might want to stay with us and see where this leads, detective.” The idea they might be able to follow what is essentially an echo from the past seems almost too easy, and Madieke doesn’t get her hopes up for just that reason. As they get nearer to the city center, Madieke motions for Pakchoian and the techs to remain as quiet as possible so the Jedi can concentrate on what they are doing since she imagines it must be taxing for them, and that it will only become harder in the city where the silhouette could be more difficult to separate from those of other beings that had also been moving in the same place at the same time or in the time since, some probably even moving through the very same areas the silhouette had passed.
Back at the precinct Nuala nods when Nemes explains he is going to ask his chief about the possibility of assigning surveillance to Arezou, then sets her laptop shoulder bag on the table in the center of the room before walking closer to the progress board to see what the Rodian has added to it. Seeing an older case has been added to a section of the board pertaining to possibly related matters, Nuala glances at the details of the killings of two low level drug dealers that had been working with Klivian. The weapon used in the killings was a blaster, and nothing seems to indicate a Force user was involved, but Nuala makes a mental note to see about getting access to the UPD database so she can try and cross check older cases and any future ones with the murders at Sikes to see if she can find a pattern that could be used to possibly determine what the killer’s ultimate objective might be.
“Yeah, and thanks, Nuala tells Nemes when he returns and asks if she wants to receive any reports from the surveillance teams going forward, and then asks, Is there a way I can get temporary access to UPD case file archives? Especially OC related cases. Taking a lollipop from a pocket of her jacket, Nuala starts unwrapping it as she explains her request, I was thinking I could go through them to see if any recent activity can give us a better idea of what the killer is after. So far we're just assuming a lot of things. There has to be a reason Sike was targeted though, something the killer wanted to get, or something the killer wanted to know from Sike. If we can figure that out, we might be able to anticipate their next move and start to figure out what they are after.”

Umgul City - Sike's Estate
Nazani rubs the back of her neck when Grandmaster Vyridian says that she's free to go, but that he will be continuing to use his abilities to try and learn more. Shaking her head to indicate that she will staying even before Aninh suggests that she stay for the time being, Nazani mutters to herself, "Who needs sleep anyway?" When she has an idea of what the Jedi are planning, Nazani feels a thrill of hope that they might actually be able to track the assailant's actions after the attack, and she unconsciously adjusts the paddle holster at her back that holds her DC-15s as they set out.
Vinter tells her partner, "I'll catch up," then sprints for their speeder to grab an evidence collection kit in case their search leads them to additional evidence. Cacracci nods, moving at the rear of the group and, looking up from time to time to watch the progress of the faint images the red haired Jedi creates with the small lightning charges she periodically releases, focuses her attention of the ground near where the image passes to see if anything may have been left behind that could provide additional clues. Vinter, when she rejoins the group, adds her efforts to her partners as they continue following quietly behind the others.
Umgul City - 23rd Precinct
Conall purses his tapir-like snout in thought when Durnin asks about getting access to the UPD's databases, shrugging after giving it some thought and deciding that there is nothing to lose from letting her sift through old cases and saying, "That's a good idea. You never know what we might turn up. Gesturing towards her bag, he says, Get that set up and I'll get a tech to get you temporary access to our database. Returning not long after with the dataterminal tech, Conall watches as he does his mumbo jumbo to get Durnin her access. Once the tech has finished and left, Conall says, Let me know if you need any help sifting through anything."
His datapad pings, and the Rodian excuses himself, reading over the initial report from the surveillance team assigned to Arezou before telling Durnin, "The team sent to keep tabs on Arezou is in place, and then sighs, rubbing his sternum before reaching up and rubbing his antennae with a wide yawn as he says, I'm going to grab some sleep in the break room. Wake me if anything breaks."

Atlantis isn’t usually the type of person to give up quickly and easily and while the trail was easy to follow since he only had to focus onto that single silhouette that he had picked up from Sike’s estate, the moment they reach the city center was when everything turned sour to him. He still had not defined if the perp was male or female, he still couldn’t say at all, and now that they got to this point, one of the busiest part of Umgul City, plenty of silhouettes had been overlapping and that caused him to exert himself until he just couldn’t do it anymore.
He was drained and he wouldn’t be surprised if Mace, too, was drained and he also wouldn’t be surprised if her multiple electric pulses scattered into different directions into the mist. Atlantis groaned and took a deep breath before he finally and entirely shut his connection to the Force because he knew that he no longer could go on and that was a fact that Mace would already know considering that what he saw, he was sure that she would see it too…
“Dammit.” Atlantis said as he rubbed his temple, considering that he had been using that power that sure he had a pretty solid hang onto but he still had not mastered that. Long use of a Force power that he was still developing and training to master always gave him a migraine. The last thing he had seen from that silhouette he had been tracking with the help of Mace for the others, it was the fact that he or she had adopted a relaxed posture. But before he could get into that, Atlantis closed his eyes briefly and he might have been exhausted by now, and even beads of sweat started to form onto his temple, but he turned to look at Madieke and Nazani mainly before saying.
“I lost the trail.” Taking a deep breath before rubbing his forehead with his forearm once, Atlantis looked around and glanced around to see if there are some cameras in the premises, maybe one of the cameras caught something. Who knew? But considering the density of the mist, he knew that whoever got those cameras installed thought about that and made it infrared.
“Mace, who assumed the installation of the cameras in the city?” Atlantis asked dubiously, he might have had an inkling but then again, whatever the government had been doing here in Umgul and what Andros had been issuing lately, he was following but he never asked his brother about his own work, so he would find the whats and whys on the news. Also since Mace was also part of the government as the Senior Advisor to the Senator, she was bound to know.
“The Deputy Director of Intelligence?” Atlantis ventured on that guess, and since he had recuperated enough to do this, Atlantis cleared the mist around all of them to see where the cameras were located, he looked back down on where he had last seen that silhouette he was tracking and knew that it might not give them anything because that silhouette had obviously avoided the camera…
“I am sorry that I couldn’t be or more help right now…” Atlantis said to everyone before he rubbed the root of his nose because clearly he was annoyed at the fact that this investigation was going to take longer than expected.

Those with the Jedi familiar with the layout of Umgul City will recognize the area that Grandmaster Vyridian loses the trail he has been following as one that is geographically near to two potentially significant points in the city. The trail ends equidistant from both the spaceport and an area of the city that is comprised of large estates that would be affordable only to individuals possessing great wealth. The shadow that they have followed was most likely enroute to one or the other of those destinations. The search for cameras that might have captured an image of the figure that is being sought will prove successful, an ATM placed near one of the streets Grandmaster Vyridian was able to track the shadow's progress on being equipped with a camera to film all transactions. When the footage is reviewed, an image of the cloaked and hooded figure can be seen briefly moving behind a customer making a withdrawal at the ATM. The hood of the figure's cloak obscures its facial features, as the cloak conceals its clothing, but the investigators now have a clear image of the garment that would match the fiber recovered from the Sike crime scene, as well a relatively clear idea of the figure's height as comparison with the other individuals moving on the streets around it show that it stands at or near 5'5, which is below average for a humanoid male and average or slightly above average for most humanoid females. Ranger Durnin's search for OC related crimes will show that Sike did indeed keep a tentative peace when alive, few reports existing of casualties related to fighting between organizations and none of civilian casualties related to violent organized crime. Statistical analysis will show that deaths related to drug use are higher in lower socioeconomic areas, which is not uncommon on any world, but it will also show a profound lack of drug related activity near schools, suggesting Sike strictly enforced a policy of restricting sales of narcotics to children. UPD's OC unit knows that Sike also sold narcotics to wealthier individuals, through CI's or other sources. The crime that Ranger Durnin noticed Detective Nemes had considered possibly connected to the death of Sike, when looked into more closely, will reveal that the victims often worked as bodyguards for Klivian, and would more likely than not have accompanied him when meeting with Sike.

When they got to one of the busiest part of the City, Mace was starting to lose her breath and she was starting to get exhausted by the continual use of that Force power that she had come to master. It was difficult due to the fact that not only she had to negate the humidity from the mist but also concentrate on targeting that silhouette Atlantis was seeing. Even though her mind reading ability had entirely been a part of her, that it was an innate ability of hers, the rest wasn’t. Despite making it look like it was a stroll in the park for her, each steps she took and each surge she sent in where that silhouette had walked on by was starting to turn taxing for her.
And it got even more difficult when they actually got there to one of the busiest part of the City because when she sent multiple surge of electricity, it went into different directions. It just meant that the trail ended there for her and even for Atlantis because he lost it. Mace cut her connection to the Force entirely and began to grit her teeth slightly before turning the palms of her hands upwards to send the remaining charge of electricity upwards.
When Atlantis called out for her attention before he cleared the mist, Mace went to stand where he had last seen that silhouette and looked upwards seeing that the city camera was there and obviously, no image from that one. At least Mace knew that whoever was the person they had been tracking had been intelligent enough to avoid all cameras.
“That’s right,” Said Mace thoughtfully to his assumption. “After Andros’ directive to get most busy areas covered by cameras.” Mace grabbed her cloak again and put that on before grabbing her gloves from her belt to cover her hands again because there were things that she preferred to not touch with her bare hands unless it was necessary. . .
Looking right in front of her, Mace recognized this area and looked around. But she knew that no one knew this area better than the locals and even maybe Horsea, but right now she was guessing that the Deputy Director might have been busy with already upgrading the government’s networks or whatever she might have been doing, so Mace looked at the Detective and the Ranger.
“The two areas, if I am not mistaken those are the spaceports and the wealthiest residents of the planet, right?” Asked Mace curiously before looking around again noticing that this area was populated enough during the day and night and there might probably something else that would help them.
“What are the main businesses in this avenue that would have a camera at our level?” Asked Mace to the Detective, she might have been here longer than she and Atlantis and she might know this place better, if not then she would have to resort into calling the Director who had been dealing with most streets in Umgul City lately. . .

Nazani cautiously pats Grandmaster Vyridian lightly on the shoulder when he apologizes, not sure whether he is the type that prefers not to be touched or not, telling him, "Don't sweat it. This may have been more useful than you think. Answering Councilor Vos' questions, which will also explain what she meant when she said that their little field trip was productive despite what she had thought when they set out, the dark haired, curvy Lorrdian says, Our perp was either headed home, she points towards the lights from a few large, gated estates that can be faintly seen through the mist to the east, or to the spaceport," she points to the west even though the spaceport cannot be seen through the mist.
Vinter, running a hand through her blonde hair to push it behind an ear, muses aloud, "They might have just been reporting in to an employer. You could check the list of residents and see if . . ."
Caccraci, her lips pursed in thought as she scans the businesses nearby to see if any are likely to have cams at street level, interrupts her partner, "There's no probable cause. Besides, what would you look for? Previous employment as a criminal mastermind or something? It would be pointless without more to go on. Getting passenger manifests for outgoing transports at the spaceport during the time frame would be just as useless. The killer, if they are offworld talent, would probably be traveling under an alias. Pointing towards an ATM not far from where they are, the dark haired, pointy eared Morganian says excitedly, There! Most ATMs have cams to record customer transactions, right? It would have a good view of the street, and we know the killer passed that way. You could probably easily get a warrant for the bank to give you the cam footage in the morning."

Atlantis smiled a friendly smile when the Detective patted his shoulder. He did not mind that gesture at all, as after all he wasn’t his brother, the kind that would sneer and glare for being touched without permission… So he smiled and inclined his head despite looking exhausted currently before he turned his attention onto Mace that had been fielding his questions.
Headed home or the spaceport…
The home area, there wasn’t much he could do about that but the spaceport, he knew he could burn several lines and request a favor from several high ranking government officials to provide him with the data. Atlantis knew that the spaceport was one of the tightest and most secured area for incoming and outgoing traffics. He also knew that for everyone leaving and everyone arriving they would have to go through customs and be checked out by them if the immigrants or emigrants and even those that came here for business and/ or pleasure were checked out instantly with the coordinated help from the Intelligence Department.
“We can have every manifests from the spaceport…” Atlantis said thoughtfully before glancing at the gated estates currently. “As for those wealthy residents… Maybe check who are the last people that immigrated here and...”
Atlantis cut his statement short upon hearing the first tech remembering that her name was Vinter, or was it Caccraci? He had no idea who was who because the names had been spoken by the Detective but other than that, he did not know who was who. So he was just going to settle with the blonde and the dark haired one.
Who were both nice to look at, but he wasn’t here to stare nor was he here to have crazy thoughts running through his mind especially when there was a mind reader with them and also he was already taken. He really had to stop his train of thoughts and it wasn’t until he heard something of value that got Atlantis to turn towards that dark haired tech forensic.
The bank, one of the institutions that was all but gibberish to him, and the ATM, right. Also a warrant to get that footage in the morning? Atlantis pursed his lips and glanced momentarily at Mace but then he decided otherwise just to test a certain water because honestly, what Mace might have said earlier back at the academy how she had been aware of the hacking in the biometric area of the government building, that might have been all in jest, after all, insofar, Atlantis did not feel a spike from Andros just yet. Andros would have known about that and he would have been pissed off. But so far nothing, just plain ol’ Andros.
“Madieke.” Atlantis called out to her and by her name, because quite honestly he did not like the fact that he was called by his title or whatever, he was just that way, so he went on personal basis there despite the current setting they were in right now. “You trust Ranger Durning hacking skills, right?” Atlantis left it at that, it was her choice to either wait for that warrant, or not. Atlantis wasn’t that much on point anyways and he might have been known as being a rule bender too anyways, so in his honest opinion, why even wait for that warrant and for that morning to come when they all had the tools to get the footage of that ATM cam.

Mace had still been looking around while she recuperated from her excessive use of electricity. Sure she might have been exhausted from that, but she did not show it on her features. She continued to keep an impassive expression on her features while she continued to retrace the steps of the silhouette that they were tracking to begin with.
At some point she stopped and looked to think about every permutation and every road that killer might have taken, and it either could have been towards one of those estates like it could have been towards the spaceport. That much was a given. She had reverted to her usual silence, speaking only when spoken to and that was it. Even though maybe she could have looked like she’d rather be someplace else right now because the trail had run cold it did not deter her from looking left or right. . .
Every options were options and worth to undertake, so when the dark haired forensic tech said that there was no probable cause, Mace looked at her thoughtfully. “Not if you start looking into a profile of someone that has disappeared entirely from the grid and then just came back out recently. . .” Said Mace as a food for thought, after all, like she thought earlier, any leads had to be exploited one way or the other. . .
Relaxing her posture when the discovery of that ATM had been made, Mace stared instantly at Atlantis having a brief glance of his thoughts and she just kept on looking at him with a deadpan expression as if asking him if this was really the right time?
At least he got a hold of himself quickly and she returned to her usual stare, that placid one while she listened to Atlantis’ suggestion to maybe get instantaneous access to the camera feed. To think that he asked if Madieke trusted Nuala’s hacking skills. Of course, the SEO should, either way, as far as Mace was concerned even the Intelligence Department had not been aware of that to begin with until she sent her cousin to warn Horsea to strengthen the network. . .

Cracks. Implicitly. Outbound.
Madieke is silent during the tracking, giving Atlantis and Vos the quiet they probably need to focus, and she stays just as quiet when the trail is lost. Having lived in the city for as long as she has, Madieke knows the area the trail has led them to well, as most of the members of the investigating team do. Listening to the others speak, Madieke finds that they are all more or less on the same page where what they can conclude from their perp’s route has led them is concerned. Like the pointy eared tech, Madieke is not sure that getting a hold of a list of the spaceport’s outgoing travelers or recent immigrants with the credits to afford a posh address in the city will prove useful since even with the somewhat draconian security measures Umgul routinely employs in an effort to protect its citizens there are bound to be individuals skilled enough to find cracks to slip through. Madieke also knows that cases have been solved by more trivial things, and that she will be going through the records searches anyway. Vos's idea about looking for individual's with gaps in their histories is a good one as well, even though such gaps don't prove anything and can exist for benign reasons as well as malignant.
“Good eye, Madieke, keeping her thoughts to herself for now, tells the Morganian with a nod when she spots the ATM. When Atlantis asks whether she trusts Nuala’s skills as a slicer, Madieke answers, Implicitly, almost but not quite smiling at what she thinks he is implying by asking the question. Unable to resist the opening for a joke the situation presents, unaware her dry tone makes telling whether she is joking or not difficult, Madieke asks, Not worried we’ll get some bank manager’s tightie whities in a twist if they find out we violated their customer's privacy? Already taking her comlink from a pocket of her trench coat, Madieke says, I’ll get her on it,” and then steps away to explain the situation to Nuala.
Returning after speaking with Nuala, Madieke says, “She’ll send the stills as soon as she has them. Remembering that Vos had wanted to see the bodies at the morgue, and curious herself to learn anything the autopsies may have revealed, Madieke says, Think we’ve got all we can here. Nodding in the direction of Sike’s estate where her speeder is located, Madieke asks the others, Morgue? Deciding to ask first this time even though Nuala might be able to get the information more quickly, she asks, Who can we contact about getting census records for this area and the spaceport’s outbound passenger manifests for the last few hours?”

Nazani can't tell whether Aninh is showing signs of possessing a sense of humor or not when she asks if Grandmaster Vyridian is worried about violating bank customers' privacy, and so she pretends to rub her nose to cover her amused grin in case the Ranger was being serious. Not having missed the fact that the Grandmaster addressed Aninh as Madieke, Nazani wonders whether the two are closer than she had thought based on their meeting at the academy; though she supposes that whether they are or not is irrelevant, only her naturally curious nature making her wonder. When Aninh asks about who they would need to reach out to in order to gain access to the spaceport's records and the census information, Nazani says, "I'll ask the chief to see what he can do, and then glances at her wrist chrono to see whether it is too late to make the request now. Wincing at the time, late enough at night or too early in the morning that the chief will not be in the precinct yet, and since he was there late tonight, or really last night now, Nazani knows it'll be best to wait and try to catch him when he's more likely to be in a giving mood. You two can go now, Nazani tells Vinter and Cacracci when Aninh sounds ready to head out to see the coroner, Thanks for your help."
Cacracci, lips pursed in thought as she considers what Mace had said and not hearing Nazani, muses aloud, "There's a lot of reasons someone might be, she makes air quotes with her fingers, off the grid, actually. I mean, just because we can't reconstruct a history doesn't mean it's logical to conclude that someone has something to hide. Not everyone lives a life that leaves a paper trail, and there are some worlds that don't have as efficient or as invasive a . . ."
Vinter tugs her partner's shoulder and says under her breath with a smile, "No one's listening. We're forensics, remember? Not detectives. Or Jedi. Rolling her eyes as she nods a farewell to the two Jedi, the detective, and the Ranger, the blonde haired Shownarri says, Good hunting," and then tugs Vinter, who lifts a hand and waves goodbye to everyone, back towards Sike's estate where their vehicle is waiting.

Despite Madieke’s dry tone, which indeed could be passing up as someone who wasn’t joking, Atlantis was more or less used to it. They had interacted enough during that one enough that he could tell the difference, even though it might have been difficult for some. To him, he knew that she was just taking a jab right now which was why he looked at her with an amused expression and tilted his head from side to side with uncertainty.
“On a scale…” Atlantis demonstrated that with his left hand being all the way down on his body, or he was guessing that his hand was going to reach his thigh anyways, that was as far as he could go. “Bank manager.” Before raising his right hand above his head and smirking as he added on. “Andros.” It wasn’t to demonstrate that he was afraid of this or that person, it was more of the repercussions he knew that could happen…
Atlantis lowered his right hand and relaxed himself before tilting his head from side to side to unstiffen his neck as he listened to what Madieke was saying, he nodded in acknowledgment to that fact and was glad that they weren’t going to wait for too long. Although previously he had seen Mace’s stare and he internally cringed and internally facepalmed himself knowing that this was just awkward particularly when Atlantis was hearing the two techs speak. Awkward, really awkward…
Thankfully Madieke was giving him an out right now and he focused his attention exclusively on her about their next route, which would be the logical one to take, especially with what Mace had said previously but also to who those census and manifest could be requested from.
Atlantis had an idea about that, even before the Detective said something about asking the chief, the man would be faced with several ramifications, it depended really on City Hall’s reply for the census and the Intelligence department for the manifest, Atlantis guessed.
To him, it obviously showed that the Detective clearly had no idea how deeply Mace was connected to the government or if even people outside of his group were aware of it. He wouldn’t be surprised though that they never knew, because Mace made it a point to never get her name spoken in government matters, like she also made a point to never get her name spoken in the Mist Order’s matters, because for all the people knew, Mace was just a Jedi with no links anywhere.
She did not look like a Kiffar, like she did not look like an advisor to the Senator, but Atlantis guessed that it wouldn’t hurt here and now. “Detective, don’t worry about asking your chief to place in a request.” Atlantis said with certainty before looking at Madieke with a knowing grin. “We’ll have the census records and the spaceport’s outbound passenger manifest in an hour, hopefully.” Glancing knowingly at Mace since she was the person that could make those things happen whether the two women they were with were aware of that fact or not, it did not matter. But if you clearly wanted to get information as soon as possible, it was through the Deputy Director, who happened to answer first and foremost too to Mace herewith present.
“But yes, the morgue.” Atlantis said and unable to help it, and also because he was just the kind to do so, he turned to look at the two techs with a smile on the corner of his lips. “Yes, thank you also to you both.” And maybe it looked like he was being suave like Franz would put it, but really if he was doing that currently, he had no idea whatsoever, it was just the way he smiled, simple as that.
Turning around to follow whoever it was to follow, Atlantis took a deep breath as his body was screaming for some rest, but not yet, and not right now, not when they might get a clear picture of the perp…

The thing about her, Mace never really asked for something to anyone within the government unless it was necessary and because time was of the essence. Usually for this case, she wouldn’t even have lifted a finger to ask for this or that manifest because she preferred to always keep things separate. That was just the way she was and that was also how she operated somehow. But this case was different. It concerned the Vice-Governor who also was a Force user, who also had most of his core powers turned in the darkside of the Force.
Not a lot knew that, and even if some came to find out about that and exploit it, she really didn’t want to think about the unthinkable concerning Andros. In this case, he was indirectly involved by being cited as the attacker, so she knew that she might have to get those data. When Atlantis clearly instructed the Detective to not even bother with getting the chief of her precinct on this, Mace grabbed her datapad and sent in an encrypted message to Horsea knowing that her friend, even at this hour, was still within the Intelligence Department probably because just like a few of them, they were all avoiding more or less the rest of the Kiffars due to that matter that concerned Forcias. . .
Sooner rather than later, Mace got a confirmation from Horsea who also informed her that Ayla was currently with Andros and that she had been informed more or less of that situation. . .
“Make that half an hour.” Said Mace thoughtfully, knowing that it would approximately take from Andros’ office to Horsea’s office about five minutes and then accessing those records before sending it, not taking into account the multiple matters that were always brought to Horsea whenever she passed through the open space of the department. Thirty minutes was perfect enough.
Mace was nonetheless listening to what one of the techs was saying, it was true, she conceded that fact, after all Mace had more or less the same matter that hanged over her head. A lot of things were sealed about her whereabouts, about what she had done, plenty of things had been sealed by both Horsea and Forcias, but the thing is, her lifestyle never changed at all. Whereas who she was clearly targeting right and who were going to be looked into were the wealthiest and what discrepancies were present there. . . But right now she wasn’t going to get into that, and she just inclined her head briefly to thank both of the techs while she turned around to follow Madieke and Nazani.
Hopefully, also the morgue would provide them with other evidence that they could use but she really needed to just stop thinking for a moment and try to recuperate as best as she could because, she did not know what to expect there and if also she was going to have to do something about reading those bodies or not. . .

When the outgoing passenger manifests for outbound public and private transports are reviewed, only two female travelers will be determined to be possible matches for the suspected killer in the Sike killings based on the suspect profile the investigating team has built thusfar: Rena Tuain, and Edea Mar'shyal. Tuain, traveling under an alias that, unfortunately for her, has recently become known among law enforcement circles, is a bounty hunter known primarily for operating in the Inner Rim, though she is sought in other regions as well. Tuain began her career pursing legal bounties, but is thought to have focused later on the more lucrative contracts available to those willing to sell their services in the criminal world. It is not known, however, whether Tuain is a Force sensitive or not. Tuain's flight plan lists Juvex as her destination, and when her incoming customs interview is reviewed, during which her alias had not yet been discovered, her purpose for visiting Umgul was listed as business, though the nature of that business is unknown.
Mar'shyal, who listed her occupation as an artist, has little in the way of a public record, but matches the physical characteristics known about the killer and is observed on security camera footage recovered from the spaceport to be wearing a hooded cloak matching that worn by the killer. Mar'shyal was traveling during both her arrival and departure on public transportation, her outbound destination listed as Nar Shadda.
The census records for the recently arrived residents of the exclusive area determined to be a possible destination for the killer will reveal seven individuals have recently moved into homes in the area. Three of the individuals, all members of a local family that has relocated, are likely of no significance to the investigation given that their lifelong residence on Umgul means that their lives are all extensively documented.
The remaining four individuals compose two couples residing together. The first couple, Lyov Entin and Helaine Orlov, relocated to Umgul slightly over one year ago. Entin, a former competitive duelist and a retired owner of a successful financial consulting firm, has one gap in any attempted reconstruction of his life via public records: a twenty five year period beginning when he was sixteen wherein no records can be found of any kind detailing his existence. After the gap, however, Entin's recorded history, which consists primarily of tax records from his former world of residence, Muunilinst, and on Umgul where the tax records are accompanied by records of Entin's highly publicized charitable work, is on the whole spotless and unremarkable. Orlov, revealed to have been an orphan if and when records from Zeltros are consulted, has little in the way of public records other than the paperwork available detailing her transition to ward of the government on Zeltros. Orlov is not known to have been employed at any point in her life, no employment records existing on Zeltros or Muunilinst where tax records for the Zeltron first appear. There are similarly no records that Orlov was ever formally educated. Orlov is also listed as co-owner on all properties, vehicles, and other assets Entin possesses in addition to matching the available physical description of the killer. There are no records, however, indicating that Orlov is Force sensitive.
The second couple, Khromy and Evir Anders, have little in the way of public records save for their marriage certificate, issued after their relocation to Umgul from Clak'dor VII, and tax records from Umgul. Khromy, a female Sorrusian, lists her former occupation as importation and exportation of goods, and her spouse, a human male, lists his as shipping. While it cannot be proven, the couple's vast fortune is believed to come from smuggling, a profession the two appear to have retired from. Khromy matches the available physical description of the killer, though it is unknown whether she is a Force sensitive.

On the table. Jumping. Pieces.
Madieke nods when Pakchoian says she will have her CO handle the requests for the spaceport and census records, arching an eyebrow minutely when Atlantis and then Vos state they can handle the request more quickly. It shouldn't, Madieke thinks upon reflection, be surprising that the Jedi would have contacts within different agencies on Umgul that they can call upon, but it might be necessary at some point for all involved in the investigation to lay their cards on the table where the resources that they can call upon is concerned so that they can operate more efficiently. Used to working alone, or with those she has worked with and has developed the ability to operate smoothly with without a lot of unnecessary clarification, Madieke knows that she will have to adjust to being on a team where the majority of the members are mostly unknown to one another or, like her, used to working alone.
"We're listening, Madieke tells the tech that apparently feels that her and her partner's contributions are not valued, then looks at the Morganian and says, Good points. Don't worry, we won't be jumping to any conclusions." Nodding when the two head off, Madieke looks at those that will be coming along with her to the morgue and then inclines her head towards the direction they came from before starting the walk back to her speeder.
The Jedi both seem worn out from the tracking, so Madieke is silent on the trip back to Sike's estate, using the time to organize what they have learned and fit the new pieces of the puzzle together with the rest. They know a bit more about the assailant, though not enough yet to make identifying them any easier. Atlantis thought that the time the killer spent with Sike could mean that the Bothan was interrogated before being killed, which could explain the choice of victim if the whole thing is not just a power play between criminal outfits. Learning what the Bothan might have known worth killing for could bring them closer to narrowing down who the killer was, or who they are working for if not themselves. How to go about learning what a dead Bothan knew that someone wanted to know badly enough to kill him to get it, however, could be a challenge. Arriving at Sike's and getting into her speeder, Madieke takes off after everyone is seated, deciding to stay quiet for the time being to give everyone the chance to collect their thoughts.
