Eyes on. Come back to bite.
Grinding her cigarette beneath the toe of her boot after stepping out of her speeder and taking a last drag, Madieke looks over as she exhales the smoke from her nostrils as she asks Nuala, "Seriously? They're on the holonet right flipping now?"
Lifting her datapad to show Madieke the live report coming from the home or Lyov Entin, where a reporter is interviewing the Epicanthix and his Zeltron companion, Nuala takes her pink lollipop from her mouth as she says, "Seriously. And I just commed Sigi too. She says she's had eyes on them both all night. Wasn't them."
Frowning as she absorbs the ramifications of Nuala's news, Madieke spots a patrolman nearby and calls out to him, "I want the building entrances covered by unis, tell 'em to keep the press outside and away from the witnesses inside. Nodding toward the front entrance of the law offices, Madieke tells Nuala, Get reports from the other surveillance teams, see if any of our suspects have made any movement or comms. Then see if you can pin down where the twins are now, establish their whereabouts for the past hour."
Nodding as she follows Madieke, her fingers tapping away rapidly on the keyboard of her datapad as she starts typing a message to the other members of the investigative team to get their reports, Nuala says, "I hope the fact we don't have teams keeping tabs on the Vyridians doesn't come back to bite us."
"Me too, Madieke says, shaking her head as she starts imagining the accusations that will fly if they cannot eliminate the twins as suspects for Monite's murder post haste. Me too, she repeats as she enters the lobby and asks the patrolmen keeping watch over the doors, Where's the security guard? Pointing towards the cameras in the lobby, Madieke tells Nuala, Get that footage, start going through it to see if you can't verify the perp looks like one of the twins like the media is reporting."

Umgul City - Nighttime, sometime after today and tomorrow - Outside Law office of Varik Monite
"Just over there, ma'am," one of the UPD patrolmen covering the front entrance tells Madieke while pointing to where the office building's security guard is being treated by paramedics for the concussion he sustained from being thrown against the wall.
"It was one of them, the security guard says when he spots Madieke making her way towards him and, able to tell from her walk that she is not only on the job but also someone in charge of things, guesses what will be her most pressing concern. Waving the paramedic away, the guard gingerly touches the bandage wrapped around his head, saying, Or it was someone or something doing one heckuva convincing impersonation. Whoever or whatever they were, they went straight for Monite. Poor sod came down in the elevator right when the killer arrived. Waving a hand towards the desk, he explains, I was behind the desk there. Killer had a lighstaber in their hand, so I told them to halt and hand over the weapon. Laughing at the memory of having followed protocol despite the slim chance that it would have stopped the killer, the guard goes on, The killer just Force pushed me into the wall and kept going. Forcing himself to look at the consequences of his failure to respond to the situation more directly, the guard looks over to where Varik Monite's decapitated body lays, saying, I should have just drawn and opened fire."
Nuala will find that acquiring access to the security footage captured in the lobby and outside the office building is a simple matter of asking the member of management she is directed to for it, the building manager wanting to cooperate fully with the investigation. The footage from the exterior cameras will show the assailant's arrival, with the interior cameras surrounding the lobby having captured events inside from several angles. The footage will show that the killer entered a stairwell near the elevators, and then seemed to simply vanish as no camera anywhere in the building shows the killer after they entered the stairwell.

Second guessing. Up to no good. Airtight.
"Probably just would have gotten yourself killed," Madieke offers the guard consolingly, albeit in her usual dry tone, after he wraps up his account of events by second guessing his actions. The guard's confirmation of the fact the killer was either one of the Vyridian twins or an impersonator of one kind or another is not surprising since the perp in the previous killings had also been identified as one of the Force sensitive siblings well known all over Umgul due to their respective highly public roles, though Madieke finds it no more likely that Andros or Atlantis are guilty now than she had before. Someone definitely wants to make it look like one or both of the Vyridian brothers are up to no good, however, and unless she can prove otherwise P.D.Q., Madieke knows that she will have to defend her decision not to take the twins into custody.
After telling the guard to stay put for the time being in case she has more questions, Madieke walks over to examine Monite's body. Kneeling to take a look at the lawyer's headless corpse, Madieke asks the patrolman nearby, "Anything useful from the wits?"
Nuala joins Madieke beside the body after having watched the footage from the security cameras in the lobby, handing her datapad across to Madieke with the footage cued up. "No illusion this time. Cameras show one of the twins, or an imposter of some kind, clear as day. I'm guessing we've got a shapeshifter of some kind on our hands."
After watching the footage, Madieke hands the datapad back to Nuala. "Why shapeshift for this murder, but not when killing Sike? From what Atlantis and Vos were able to reconstruct in the mist with their abilities, perp was shorter, and thinner than what that footage shows us to be the case here."
Frowning as she shifts her lollipop from one side of her mouth to the other while pondering the possible reasons a killer able to shapeshift would not do so in one killing while doing so in another, Nuala eventually admits, "I don't know. Maybe they needed more focus in the last killings? They needed to take out more opposition, and used the Force to move quicker than they did here. Maybe they couldn't do that while holding another form?"
Shaking her head, Madieke points out, "Telepathic manipulation, making the guards see Vyridian, would have required a lot of focus too. Standing, she points at the cameras on the walls as she guesses, Obviously wanted to be filmed this time, didn't take out the security systems like they did at Sike's estate. Trying to force our hand maybe, since the last try to implicate one of the twins didn't result in an immediate arrest."
Running a hand through her small orange and yellow mohawk, Nuala says, "Well, let's hope the brothers Vyridian have some airtight alibis so we can prove they aren't involved. Foil the evil plan and all that."
"Won't end this, Madieke sighs. Whatever this is all aimed at, getting the Vyridians in a jam is only a part of it. Nodding towards Monite's body, Madieke tells the patrolman she had asked about the witnesses statements, Can release him to the coroner now."

After summarizing the witness statements that he has taken, which all boil down to the fact that a killer resembling one of the Vyridian twins beheaded Varik Monite after Force pushing a security guard that had tried to stop the killer's progress into the lobby, the UPD patrolman that Madieke had addressed stands by to keep others away from the perimeter that has been set up around the lawyer's body. Half listening to the conversation between the Sector Ranger and her deputy, the patrolman finds their theory about the killer being a shapeshifter interesting, but wonders how they could prove it. Glad that such issues are well above his pay grade, the patrolman zones out until Madieke addresses him again, telling him that the body can be released to the city coroner, Nic Claus.
Tipping his cap, the patrolman says, "Right away, and then steps away to go about arranging for the lawyer's body to be transported to the city morgue to be examined. Once the transport of Varik's body is underway, the patrolman returns and tells Madieke, There's a lot of press scum outside wanting a statement from someone on the force, and to know when they can get access to the witnesses. What should we tell 'em?"

Nebulosity Apartments - Today
Her self-doubt and anxiety so deep-seated that she is only able to take a small measure of comfort from Delaana's reassurances that she not only follows what Elikapeka feel is her inane babbling, but enjoys it as well, Elika nonetheless does her best to at least look relieved since she is able to recognize that Delaana is sincere even though her personality quirks prevent her from being significantly relieved by that sincerity.
Smiling kittenishly with a shy glance down towards her sleeve as she fidgets with it when Delaana says that Elika's admission of being attracted to her, as awkward as it seemed to Elika herself as she said it, was nice to hear, Elika laughs with a shake of her head after Delaana asks whether it would be a bother if they were to plan to have lunch as well as dinner together, "A bother? Not at all, my Cessi, and, she crinkles her nose and manages to meet Delaana's eyes again, really, I think . . I know I'm the lucky one," she concludes sincerely, her chronically low-esteem making it natural for her to feel fortunate, if not more than a little perplexed, to have captured Delaana's attention at all.
Glad that the conversation continues flowing thanks to Delaana, despite her protests that she is unable to think of anything interesting to say, Elika laughs and, comfortable enough to reach over and brush Delaana's hand, says, "Well, I guess it's my turn to reassure you, my Ceesi, that you're not doing anything wrong at all. Trust me, Elika adds softly while leaning over to rest a hand against Delaana's cheek as she kisses her lips softly. Settling back after the briefly lingering kiss has ended, a reflective expression coming over her as she considers Delaana's question, Elika asks after a pause, If I had to pick one as a career, you mean? I'd have to say music, she answers, guessing that she has guessed the aim of the question. Frowning as she considers the second half of the question, Elika goes on, Why? I guess because, even with how anxious performing made me, there's something extremely . . . freeing, rewarding, and . . . exciting about capturing music you hear, she taps the side of her head, up here, and, she extends her hands outward, bringing it out here as close to what you heard inside as you can. Laughing, not sure she has explained herself well, she says, I'm not sure that makes any sense, but architecture has limits imposed by the strengths of materials and so on, and is shaped by the wants of clients, where music is just . . . unadulterated creativity, it's . . . Elika laughs again, covering her face with a hand as she shakes her head, settling on, It's just more rewarding to me I guess, more fulfilling."
Wanting to afford Delaana the same opportunity to share something about herself, Elika reaches over to brush her fingers down Delaana's arm as she asks, "So, if you could do anything you wanted for a living, anything at all, what would it be, and why?" Delaana arched her eyebrow dubiously when Elika told her that she was the lucky one. There were many ways Lana could contradict that statement, and also tell Elika that she shouldn't take herself for granted because she did have a beautiful soul but also a sweet smile and kind eyes. She wanted to let the architect know all of those things, but something told Lana that perhaps Elika would hardly believe that fact, instead of saying anything about it, at least for now, Lana pointed at herself before shaking her head to convey that she certainly was at this moment in time. Not needing to say anything more at the present, especially when Elika got closer to her, Lana closed her eyes momentarily and enjoyed that soft kiss onto her lips and she had even put her hand onto Elika's, that one that was on her cheek.
Opening her eyes slowly and looking at Elika with a warm smile, Lana leaned her side against the couch and just watched her guest right now speak, Lana of course listened attentively and nodded when asked if Lana meant career choice. "It does make sense, my Shakal," Lana said softly with a warm smile. "The free part does make sense, you do follow the melody that is currently in your mind and steer it the way you want to without any boundaries that are present in architecture, whether it's by the materials or your clients wishes, to which you have to adapt." It was how she could explain it the best way she could, or at least the best way she understood it. Either way, Lana did understand perfectly what Elika wanted to convey. In a sense, it was how she had felt before about a certain hobby of hers, but again that was just a hobby, nothing more, nothing less, when time did permit her to do so.
Looking down at Elika's fingers, tracing her arm gently, Lana closed her eyes briefly in content and just that soothing feeling that she had been feeling. That really was a good question, and even with her pensive expression right now, for she was really pondering on the question. Lana really never truly thought about that, not that she didn't really have the time to do so before as she had often been sent to some remote places due to what she did and was also currently doing, there was a part of her right then and there that felt guilty, of course, but at the same time, she couldn't really go against what she had been told. Though thankfully for Lana, she did have the correct answer there, which was also the truth anyways, since it had been her hobby back then.
"Truthfully, if I really had to choose, I'd say photography." Lana looked at Elika after her pensive expression, she smiled and looked at some of the frames around her living room that had been there, the landscapes, just the freedom, it was gratifying in a sense. "And why? Just for the simple reason that I admire any thing that nature enables to let us see," Grinning at the thought and looking at Elika with a warm smile soon after. "Also because when I see beauty, I can hardly take my eyes away from it, so I feel that need to capture it."

Though I make all possible haste to the location where Andros, or perhaps Atlantis given that there would appear to be some uncertainty given the ease with which one twin might be mistaken for the other, has reportedly slain the lawyer that had threatened him with a civil suit - leaving instructions for the Umgul PD officers I have joined on the surveillance detail watching over Arezou, a suspected lieutenant in Sike's organization, to contact me should Arezou make any suspicious moves or participate in any suspicious comm chatter that could implicate her in the killing of Varik Monite - I know that I have arrived too late when, as I set my borrowed Umgul PD speeder down, I see that the building and its immediate surroundings are blocked off, with the press and morbid gawkers that always flock to such scenes like carrion birds, being kept at bay.
When, after having identified myself to the officers keeping everyone back, I make my way inside to see the scene of the crime, I arrive just as an officer is telling Officer Aninh "There's a lot of press scum outside wanting a statement from someone on the force, and to know when they can get access to the witnesses. What should we tell 'em?" I wait until Officer Aninh has answered the patrolman, and then, to get up to speed, ask without preamble since I recall that officer Aninh is not one to beat around the bush, "What do we have so far?"

*The Europa roared across Umgul's sky as it closed in on the spaceport. She could feel slight vibrations under the soles of her boots, and the steady reports of her crew. Closing in on the spaceport, the Europa slowed to a crawl before slowly touching down in the hangar. As the ship settled in, and her crew finished landing checks, Harli made her way down the ramp of the ship to meet the Customs Official.*

Umgul City Spaceport
As the Europa descended, customs officials were already on site, and at the ship's docking bay, and when it finally landed and the ramp descended the Ughnaught was already typing a few things in the datapad about the condition of the ship and the Balosar, Custom Officer Chaffery Vapasi, advanced towards the person who was descending the ramp.
"Welcome to Umgul, ma'am, we have been upraised of the situation that you are in need of some repairs. We shall come to that in a moment, first, I will need to know if you have any weapons to declare before a few of us check the ship?" Considering the ongoing occurrences planetside, Intelligence had requested thorough searches and also to make sure that everything was in order, and seeing the state of the ship right there, one couldn't really be safe to begin with...

*Harli gave a nod to the customs official.* "We have personal weapons, that's about it. I can have the crew disarm i that's what's required." She unholstered the DC-17 blaster pistol at her him and held it towards the officer.* "there's nothing dangerous on chemically hazardous on the vessel. Just what supplies we could salvage from scuttled Republic ships."

Umgul City Spaceport
Taking note, or at least listening attentively to what the Captain of the ship was telling him, Chaffery nodded letting her know that he understood loud and clear, and when he also saw the weap she presented, that again made him nod while his comrade by his side was putting everything into the datapad. "Perfect, thank you for the information, ma'am."
Chaffery always followed protocol and therefore he sent the others while he had been talking to the Captain to check the ship and everything within while some others checked the surroundings of the vessel, it took a few moments but nothing was let aside and everything was checked, until everything came back to him, the status report, nothing wrong and nothing suspicious flagged. "Thank you very much for abiding with this planet's laws, we shall let you go on with repairs and if there is anything further you need, please do not hesitate to inquire to any of the officers around the spaceport, ma'am."

Official Statement. More like four. Big mess.
Though tempted to tell the uni to tell the members of the press waiting for some kind of official statement that they can all fek off, Madieke restrains herself and instead tells the uni, "Clarify that the suspect has only been reported to resemble one of the twins, and remind 'em that there's at least two known species capable of shapeshifting . . ."
Taking her lollipop from her mouth, Nuala interrupts, "Actually, it's more like four or more with the Homanan and the . . ."
Rubbing the bridge of her nose and closing her eyes, Madieke sighs, "At least four or more . . ." Interrupting again, Nuala says, "And you might want to specify that only includes those species capable of altering themselves into any form they chose. If we start including. . . Catching Madieke's glare, Nuala puts her lolipop back into her mouth and backs away with her hands up, I'll let you make the statement boss."
Shaking her head and finishing up, Madieke tells the uni, "Remind them that it's a big, strange universe with all kinds of weird shit, including shapeshifters, and then end with the usual we're pursuing all leads crap. Should get them out of our hair for now, let us get to work." "What do we have so far?" Frowning as she answers the Jedi Master's question, Madieke says "Big mess if we don't nail down where everyone's favorite twins were when this went down. Got someone or something on cam footage that looks exactly like one of them beheading Monite. Since the Twi'lek seemed to be on good terms with Atlantis, making it probable that Andors won't bite her head off for questining him either, Madieke asks, Think you can get their alibis and verify them while I see what the coroner can determine from his autopsy?"

Looking back and forth from SEO Aninh and her mohawked, tattooed companion with the lollipop fetish as they hash out a rough version of what they want him to tell the members of the press waiting for a statement of some kind, the UPD patrolman resists the urge to point at his chest and ask in a panicked squeak if they really want him to address the press, and instead mentally urges himself to man up.
Nodding when the SEO and the lollipop kid are done interrupting one another, his adam's apple bobbing as he swallows his fear, the patrolman asks, "I should edit that a little bit, right? I shouldn't say weird sh. . . Lifting a hand and smiling more confidently than he feels when he realizes his question is not likely to inspire a great deal of confidence and could rob him of the chance to prove his worth, the patrol says, Never mind. I've got this. You can count on me," he concludes, straightening his cap and holster while turning to march out to meet the press.
Rehearsing his brief statement in his head as, passing the repulsor-ambulance that will be taking the victim's body to the coroner's office to be examined, he makes his way towards the press members being kept at bay by his fellow UPD officers, the patrolman puts on an expression with what he deems the appropriate combination of determination and acknowledgement of the tragedy that has occurred as he says, "The UPD has a brief statement for the press, after which you will all be required to disperse. Standing up straight, his hands clasped behind his back as though he is making a recital, the patrolman continues, At this time, the UPD can confirm that Varik Monite was slain by a perpetrator resembling Andros or Atlantis Vyridian. Holding a hand up to prevent any interruption the mutterings of the press indicate may be forthcoming, the patrolman quickly and firmly says, The UPD is pursuing all available leads, including the possibility that the assassin was one of the many species of shapeshifters in the universe attempting to besmirch the reputations of the Mist Government and Mist Order. The UPD will also be looking into the whereabouts of the Vyridian twins at the time of the crime so that no possibility is left unexplored. We will make the press aware of any future developments as they arise, the patrolman concludes firmly to make it clear he will not be taking any questions, and adds, Thank you," before motioning for his fellow UPD officers to herd the chattering gaggle of excited press members away from the scene.

Frowning as she answers the Jedi Master's question, Madieke says "Big mess if we don't nail down where everyone's favorite twins were when this went down. Got someone or something on cam footage that looks exactly like one of them beheading Monite. Since the Twi'lek seemed to be on good terms with Atlantis, making it probable that Andors won't bite her head off for questining him either, Madieke asks, Think you can get their alibis and verify them while I see what the coroner can determine from his autopsy?" Looking from the uniformed patrolman that has been tasked with making a statement to the members of the press gathered outside of the building as he strides off purposefully, I turn back to Officer Aninh as she replies to my question, trying not allow my amusement with her dryly delivered summary of what she has gleaned from the scene thusfar to show in my expression. If what Atlantis and Mace were able to learn with their unique abilities to replay past events in the mist is correct, it would seem that there are now two assassins involved in the plot against Andros, and possibly his brother as well should some of the motivations we've guessed may lay at the heart of that plot are accurate. Where the murder of Sike was carried out by a Force sensitive capable of telepathically altering the perceptions of those guarding Sike's estate rather than their physical appearance, the murder of Varik Monite was carried out by someone able to change their physical form. Why, I wonder, the need for two separate assassins? And who is guiding their actions, if one of them is not the author of the overall design? Questions, I remind myself, for another time, and set them aside for now.
Noting that Officer Aninh, her strained relationship with Atlantis aside, appears quite resolute in her belief that neither of the Vyridian brothers is responsible for this latest murder, I nod after she has concluded by asking that I take the lead where getting the twin's alibis for the evening is concerned, "Of course. Unsure of where Atlantis and Andros might be found, and therefore of how long it might take to complete my assigned task, I suggest, If I am unable to be present for the coroner's analysis, perhaps we can meet later at the precinct to exchange notes so that we are all up to speed? I would also, I add, like a copy of the camera footage from here in the lobby. While taking my comlink from its pouch on my belt in preparation of comming Atlantis to learn where he and his brother are currently, I ask Agent Aninh, Have you viewed it yourself yet?"

The Hallowed Grounds
"No, I did not mislead you to begin with, what I said about being a teacher was true. . .But most of the time, I go where I am needed to go, whether it's to keep an eye on things, or just blend in to get some information, and for that, I do not have the luxury to be in the news' eyes like some you have met today. And also because in the worse case scenario, in case I am caught they won't really know who I am affiliated to, which is why I always downgrade my presence in the Force and act as not being attuned to it. . .Though I truly am sorry if I dizzy you with my verbal dancing, but once you see or hear about what the identical brothers are facing up to this day, I am sure that you will perfectly understand." Franz told her sincerely with a faint smile, which was a topic he did not wish to bring up right now, for they were, after all, relatively in a public place, granted that there weren't a lot of people at this time of the day. Ayodele does her best to appear less amused than she truly feels when listening to Franz, who she has little doubt is actually trying to be open with her despite how very little, in the end, he ultimately says which sheds any degree of illumination on the matter he is addressing, in his fashion. Fortunately for her, Ayodele's tendency to look amused at all times means that the fact she appears so when Franz has concluded trying, or so she assumes, and failing to speak plainly should not seem strange at all.
Thinking to herself that she may be able to make some sense of what Franz has said once she has, contrary to her custom of remaining largely aloof from and ignorant of current events that do not directly affect her, made an effort to at least learn what it is that Franz's friends are facing, Ayodele nods with an amused laugh accompanying her customarily bemused smile, telling Franz, "Oh, I too am ever so sure, dear Franz, that all will be revealed once I have seen or heard," only her skeptically arched eyebrow suggesting that her certainty is entirely feigned.
That Franz has no desire to dwell upon the topic at hand is abundantly clear to her, and so after miming taking a very small sip of her drink, Ayodele asks to present what she hopes will be a more agreeable conversational opening, "So, Franz, when not teaching or going where you are needed to go without revealing who and what you truly are, what do you do to occupy yourself when not accompanying your rather striking female friends to the spa or lounging around the pool with them?"

Nebulosity Apartments - Today
Wiping some imaginary sweat from her brow with a theatrically relieved expression when Delaana says that Elikapeka had made sense despite feeling that she had made none whatsoever, Elika smiles after Delaana illustrates just how well she had understood what Elika had been trying to say, crinkling her nose with a smile as she says, "You got all that from that nonsense I was babbling? Impressive, my Ceesi. I may have to borrow your version in future though, just sayin'," Elika jokes, giving Delaana's hand a gentle squeeze before disentangling her fingers to take a sip of her stim-caf.
Smiling in a way that makes it evident that she understands precisely what Delaana is saying while describing what it is about photography that calls or drives her to pursue it, Elika nods as she says, "That's a really beautiful reason, reaching over to brush Delaana's arm softly as she smiles and says, Far more eloquent than my answer, that's for sure. Glancing towards the landscapes on the walls, Elika asks, So, are any of these yours, my Ceesi? I'd love to see some of your work, if it wouldn't be too much trouble."
Umgul City - Nighttime, sometime after today and tomorrow - Lobby of the building the law office of Varik Monite is located in
Pulling her surgical mask down after lifting her goggles to the top of her head, UPD evidence tech Vinter, a blonde haired Shownarri, stands up with a sigh and, spotting her partner heading towards her, lifts her arms out at her sides while saying, "Nothing over here where the schutta beheaded Monite. Not that looks like it won't match the samples we got from the lawyer's clothing and effects anyway."
Holding up a small vial containing a tiny, dark thread with a triumphant smile, UPD evidence tech Cacracci, a dark haired Morganian, boasts, "I got a dark fiber from where the killer entered the stairwell. I'm betting it's from the cloak, which would mean we could check it against the one recovered from the other scene, and maybe even use it to find a manufacturer or point of sale."
Giving her partner a thumbs up, Vinter says, "Nice. Hopefully you're right. Black is a common color in the business world you know?"
"Don't be a don't bee, Cacracci says with a grin. Walking up to Madieke, Cacracci gives her a quick update, Not much we can definitively conclude just yet. We found one promising fiber in the stairwell, but will have to analyze it in the lab before we can safely say it came from the killer. Having looked at the footage from the security cameras in the lobby, however, we can say that the lightsaber hilt looks like a match to the one used to kill Sike. We'll have to compare the imprint from the Sike scene to the footage before that is definitive, but I think it's almost certainly the same weapon. We'll get our final report to you as soon as our analysis is complete."

Pointing out. Preview. Game would be up.
"Good man yourself, Madieke offers the uni supportively as he heads out to give the press the statement they have discussed. Nodding her head after Roma asks whether she has seen the cam footage from the lobby cameras, Madieke says, Most of it. Pointing out the areas of the lobby where the events she describes occurred as she speaks, Madieke explains, Perp walked in the entrance there, force pushed the lone lobby guard into a wall over there, beheaded Monite right about there, and then entered the stairwell over there by the elevators. Looks like he then made his way out of the building from there by avoiding any more cams, or he changed forms and got out unobserved that way. We'll send a copy to your datapad, Madieke says while glancing towards Nuala to let her deputy know she's been given that responsibility. Looking at her wrist chrono, Madieke tells Roma, We'll comm you when we know what time the coroner will do the autopsy, and if you can't make it we can all meet at the precinct when you're done verifying the Vyridian's whereabouts."
As she and Nuala start towards the exit after speaking with the Jedi Master, Madieke stops when the forensic techs offer her a preview of their findings so far. Nodding when Cacracci has finished, Madieke says, "Good work, get that report to me as soon as it's complete. Taking her cigarettes and lighter from a pocket as she and Nuala head outside, Madieke says, Saber'll match the imprint. This was a response to the fact it got out that Atlantis and Vos have a way to use their powers to view events that take place in the mist. Wanted to be sure a twin was seen on cam and by wits this time."
"Agreed, Nuala says, taking her lolipop from her mouth and gesturing with it as she speaks, And I'd bet any future killings will be the same from now on for the same reason. Unless we can prove there is no way the twins were involved with this fast. The game would be up."
Madieke nods, lighting a cigarette, "Be interesting to see what our perp would do then. Reaching her speeder, Madieke says, Get with the O.C., see if they know of any local players that arrange hiring assassins and that kind of thing. Maybe see if you can pull any records of shapeshifting assassins that operate in the Mid Rim while you're at it."
"On it," Nuala says, getting into the passenger's seat of the speeder and then taking her laptop dataterminal from her shoulder bag to get to work as they head for the coroner's office.

I'd love to see some of your work, if it wouldn't be too much trouble." Lana laughed softly before rolling her eyes playfully and teasingly nudged Elika's side. "I assure you, none of it was babble to me, my Shakal," Lana reassured her sincerely before nodding knowingly. "Or perhaps I just that faculty to understand what people want to convey." Winking playfully Lana and releasing Elika's hand, she just felt content here and now, and was certainly glad that at least they were spending some time alone, with no one around, at least perhaps this would just allow Elika to be herself, and they could talk more without prying ears. Whatever made the Architect comfortable, it was fine by Lana. "You don't have to borrow it though, since it's entirely yours to freely use."
It was how Lana saw it, she just read between the lines and often knew how to interpret a person's sentences, speech, because after all, it was what she had been taught to do anyways, at least back then and now she was just applying what she knew and right now even if she and Elika didn't know about one another that much, Lana knew Elika enough to understand.
Smiling warmly when Elika compliments her about her choice of hobby which was photography, Lana looked at the landscapes over there on her wall and shook her head. "No, unfortunately, those aren't mine." Lana said with a playful pout before explaining further. "Those were on the planets that I was before, and have been traveling to, I have found those very appealing, that I have decided to put those there." Taking a sip of her caf, until she put the cup down on the tray, Lana nodded and lifted her index finger to indicate she needed a moment. "Not printed yet, but I should have them on my holocam. Give me a sec," Standing up from the couch, Lana walked over to another room, her bedroom actually, and retrieve the holocam there from her closet until she came back to the living room and handed it to Elika already having the first picture she had taken, all of those were the landscape of Umgul, actually. "Enjoy, although those might be bland, you'll be the judge of that, but sometimes when the sunsets, I like to set off and take photographs, or even in the early morning."

Nighttime, sometime after today and tomorrow - Entin and Orlov Residence
Excusing himself from the Sai'korachan he had invited to Umgul for the benefit he is hosting to raise awareness of the recent tragedy on Ryloth, as well as to raise funds to add to his own not insubstantial donation to aid in the relief and repair effort the Twi'lek people have been undertaking, until now, alone in the wake of the Republic's demise, Lyov turns to Doran Healy when the stocky holo-news editor appears to be trying to get his attention.
"I understand, of course you must go," Lyov tells Doran after the editor has explained that something newsworthy has happened in the city related to the allegations facing the Mist Order and the Vice Governor, and that requires him to go to work to help work on the story with his staff. Though he outwardly appears as concerned as any citizen of Umgul would be expected to be upon hearing the news, Lyov is inwardly furious. As he had sanctioned no further actions so soon after the murder of Sike, Lyov suspects, correctly as it so happens, that Helaine has taken it upon herself to add her own touch to their plans without so much as consulting him. A discussion of the matter, however, will have to wait until the benefit has ended and he and his apprentice are alone.
Helaine, her arm around Lyov's waist, frowns convincingly as though she is concerned about events that she actually not only set in motion, but also finds highly entertaining, says in her breathy and childish voice, "Oh, yes we do understand, Doran. Patting Lyov's chest with a hand, she moves closer to the tall Epicanthix as she asks, Don't we Lyov? Using the phrase she had chosen as a subliminal trigger to prompt Doran to at last publish the editorial she had subtly led him to write, Helaine says, It really does seem as though the concerns you've expressed about the Mist Government were founded, doesn't it, Doran? How frighteningly prophetic they have proven." Helaine smiles up at Lyov, knowing full that she will need to face his judgement later for having set the events of the evening in motion, but she is not afraid. Far from it, Helaine thinks as she and Lyov return their attention to the Sai'korachan once Doran has departed, for the murder of Varik Monite took place while she and her Master were very much in the public eye, which should make the Jedi of the Mist Order question their certainty that she and Lyov are involved in the plot against the Vice Governor. She should be rewarded, Helaine thinks to herself as she leans closer against Lyov and does her best to appear interested in what the Sai'korachan is speaking of with her Master.
The UPD's Organized Crime unit will be able to inform Nuala of the fact that there have long been rumors of a secretive, well concealed broker of information that is extremely selective about the clientele he or she or it will work with, and who also deals in weapons, smuggling, and numerous other enterprises highly sought by criminals, and which is suspected to include a network of bounty hunters and assassins. The existence of the broker, however, is far from certain, and the unit has had no success in their efforts to uncover the identity of the alleged broker of criminal services. The unit is somewhat more helpful where the list of assassins known or suspected to be shapechangers is concerned, sending a list of those they are aware of.

All the drama. The sharing type. Jolly ol' Nic.
Leaning against the hood of her speeder after parking outside of the coroner's office, Madieke lights a cigarette, takes a drag and then exhales as, after having listened to Nuala explain what she had learned from the Organized Crime Unit during the trip from the law offices, she says, "We'll go over the list later. Killer might be on it, might not. Mystery information broker slash procurer of criminal wish lists is something I want you to get on. Find him or her, they might know who is behind all the drama being tossed at the Vyridians. Taking another drag off her cigarette, Madieke exhales through her nostrils while shrugging and saying, Might be working with the mastermind, or if he or she is as good a information broker as the OC unit believes, know who they are or at least have some ideas."
Unwrapping a lolipop, Nuala points out, "He or she or it, assuming we can find them in the first place, isn't likely to be the sharing type. There's the whole not wanting to implicate themselves thing, for one, and then . . ."
Laughing ruefully as she takes a final puff from her cigarette before dropping it and grinding it beneath the toe of her shoe, Madieke says, "True, and we'll deal with that when the time comes. Nodding her chin towards the building entrance, Madieke begins walking towards it as she says, Let's go see what jolly ol' Nic has for us."

Crinkling her nose and smiling self-deprecatingly, Elikapeka tells Delaana, "I'm pretty sure it's that faculty to understand what people are trying to convey one, my Ceesi, since I am equally sure that my babble is usually all but incomprehensible. I mean, Elikapeka closes her eyes with a chuckle, shaking her head as she notes, And I'm doing it again now, so I am going to stop."
"You don't have to . . . Elika lifts her free hand and, as Delaana is already up and walking towards another room, shakes her head and stops her protesting since it seems silly to do so after having asked to see Delaana's work in the first place, when Delaana says that she will go get her holocam so that Elika can see some of her work. Telling herself silently to try and relax, and that she really has no reason to be nervous or worried when she and Delaana have gotten along so well so far, with Delaana not seeming to find Elika's quirks annoying or offputting despite Elika's everpresent fears to the contrary. The nature of her social anxiety makes it virtually impossible for Elika to succeed in entirely dispelling her concerns and fears and general trepidation, but she has managed to relax just a bit by the time Delaana returns with her holocam. These are really amazing, Elika says sincerely after scrolling through the images stored on the device. Beginning to go through the images once more, more slowly this time to take in more of the details, Elika's interest and absorption in Delaana's art enable her to relax a bit more, and she chatters easily and unselfconsciously while doing so about what she finds appealing about some of the pictures, and occasionally about theories about perspectives and framing and other techniques that she imagines might inform the art of photography as well as painting. Laughing and returning the camera back to Delaana, Elika says, Sorry, I was babbling again, wasn't I? Sorry my Ceesi. You should definitely frame some of those sometime, Elika says, standing after picking up her caf, unaware that she begins pacing as she asks, So, um, when did you first get interested in photography?"
