History was being made alright. From small beginnings so the adage goes. Grace never felt bigger than what she was. And that was a move in the right direction. She felt an odd warmth. A pain on the left forearm. I'm enough to be tattooed. Boland sat beside her toying with a gun as Maureen and The hound played

It was Torna who produced the tattoo gun. He spoke short to Grace and he began. The man was many a thing and a celebrated tattooist was among them. The infamous symbol of the IF was carved into Grace's left forearm. Oglaigh na Irandoideanne go bragh surrounded it. Boland followed. Small beginings....

And that hurt far less than people tried to paint it.... No fuss at all really. And just as she realized that this was her first venture directly into The Land of the Living she was drawn, well more like ripped back into The Otherworld.... "A ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...."

Grace winced once. Maybe twice. But it wasn't such a big deal. Now. The contents of said tatt? Ouch. She remembered tales of An Tiarna as a child Holonet news. He was the boogie man. And now? Well apparently she was the boogie woman. Lighting a cigarette she thought. And watched as Boland became a made man. But nothing was preparing them for the storm. Boland arguing with Maureen was unusual. But this? The girl was having a fit. Then it hit Grace. Butting out smoke she walked over, grabbing the little girl by the arm and dragging her to the table Torna was sitting at. Sitting the girl down the woman declared -Grace- "Mouthpiece here wants the same!" Maureen gave O'Maolchonaire a shite eating grin. Boland behind asked -Boland- "Being a bit tough on her there Grainne?" Grace's only response was to raise a hand defiantly. Boland stood and watched

O'Maolchonaire had done many a strange thing in his time. Seen even stranger he suposed. And the things done among these his own people were strange indeed. So he spoke -Torna O'Maolchonaire- "Sweetheart. Your little arm is not going to work so well with... any of this." But he could see the protest brewing before a word was said. Shrugging he turned the girl around and inspected her back. Left upper to be exact. And there he placed the IF symbol, words and bandaging her ever so delicately then commented -Torna O'Maolchonaire- "Good girl! You know she was the bravest of the lot of you?" Nodding to Maureen he said - Torna O'Maolchonaire- "Run along now." And putting the equipment in a box he returned to philosophical discussion with O'Rathallie . Some night

And there sat our inter galactic Brady Bunch bored near to death hence working on murdering some lung cells. Grainne Mhaol, Grace, call her what you will, sat. Left leg crossed over right, arms resting on thighs, and cigarette dangling from mouth she was the picture of beauty.... When captured from the right. Then one is struck with contradiction on the left. Four hideous scars run down that side of the women's face. The eye is missing, ear lobe severed and a portion of her lips. She manipulates a folded bandana to mask most of the damage but the disfigurement is still visible. Cigarette dangling from mouth she silently thought. Boland stood but a foot behind her also wrapped up in his own mind, burning shag hanging from lips. Even Maureen had smoke bellow around her, care of Boland's irresponsible alibi it deeply caring parenting. The hound too, sitting watchful by The child, had a cigarette dangling from lips. And lastly sat The Raven settled on the the women's blind side shoulder was enjoying a taste of the earthly vice, tobacco. All the makings of a most innovative commercial for the tornado companies A fire of dry native soft woods, foilage and select spices burned less than a meter in front of the group

Whilst the freak show chilled outside, Kieran and Laoch were sniffing around the Utopic Vulture aimlessly. The ship might well be Boland's sandbox, these two schoolyard bullies were kicking dirt in his face. Not literally but the vessel was their oyster. Their careful search in itself was orgasmic even if they were oncovering little if anything of significance. It was the thrill of the chase that took precedence arms and legs over the bounty. Morrigan's personal property sat free from their looting. Setting a box down hard Keiran spoke -Kieran- "You know Laoch, I'm of mind to just us two tripping by Wally World and asking a few pertinent questions ourselves but the idea of that spooky Buzzard and the kid swarming by is humorous - no?" Laoch standing above an open box and looking into it as if I'm a trance, nodded in agreement. But his primary concentration was clearly centered on the contents of the crate now in his hands -Laoch- "Kieran. When you gotta second come look at this shite...."

And As Grace and her lot attempted some spontaneous twisted mix version of a smudging ceremony Colonel O'Dubhui and Sgt Slaughter toiled, once again, over maps. The two had in their memory alone a rich body of information to contribute to their research. The textual matter available to them further advanced their cause. And armed with these the pair leaned into their work

O'Rathallie sat at the table quietly speaking as he aided the two officers with their task. And beside him was O'Maolchonaire, his undivided attention emerged in the ongoing research project of O'Dubhui and Slaughter. Both of the old Sean chai ones two things: to start, it was easy to become captured in such work and lose all track of time. But secondly both men were extremely aware of the need to conduct such work as fast as possible without compromising the integrity of the findings. Seemingly contradictory points but both men were firmly convinced that honoring both aspects of research was far from insurmountable. The pair provided several key elements to the office's investigation. Foremost, O'Maolchonaire and O'Rathallie added an esteemed intellectual voice to this research. Their counsel was simply irreplaceable. But it was in the meat and potatoes part of the work, that being the direct examination of the textual matter and alteration of this evidence into a useable practical rendition that the two scholars shined. And indeed they readily joined O'Dubhui and his subordinate in their work

The bodhran beat continued it's ceaseless beat egging on the Togs instinct to fight. The dead were piling up and all were itching for a fight. Grace, new Lord among the Dubh family, kept her eye on them.... She too felt the lust for blood. Boland looking wearily to his ship quite sporadically wondered what was inspiring the sudden worry. It was then that Maureen spoke matter of factly -Maureen- "Laoch and Kieran are rooting through your ship Boland." The Raven, perched on Grace's left shoulder laughed and Boland softly muttered -Boland- "Pair of morons...."

Laoch and Kieran tripped out of The Utopic Vulture, the latter carrying a box. Walking over to the family not more than a few meters from the ship Laoch roughly cleared a small table of bottles the delicately laid the box down. Both men took a seat. They took and opened bottles. Laoch lit a cigarette. Kieran with right tipped his bottle high downing the contents -Kieran- "Damn! That's some fine brew! " Then setting the bottle beside the box and opening another he spoke quiet and slow -Kieran- "Somebody wanna tell me what this shite is in this fuckin box?" Both men sat waiting. Kieran without losing his gaze fixed on the pair, new bottle in hand, lifted his left and mentioning he spoke -Kieran- "Come over here and we'll chat...."

Torna and Aogan were both on their feet before Kieran even started talking and moving towards him. They carried nothing but their meager personal effects. Aogan spoke to Torna enthusiastically -Aogan- "I tell you tis all right there in the Sacred Texts." Torna nodded quietly. They reached the crew quite quickly and Kieran and were seated. One of the ancient Sean chai commented matter of factly -Aogan O'Rathallie- "So this is where the gatherings to be." It was clear that this was no question but a statement of fact

Conversely, seasoned officers they might well be, neither O'Dubhui and Slaughter were armed with the recognition that both Sean chai owned. That said, upon the call from Kieran.they moved the whole little station that they had set up right in front of Grace. O'Dubhui sat center-right with Slaughter at his side. Lastly, O'cMaolchonaire and O'Rathallie took the left corner

Grace sat silently observing, while Boland sat at her right side. Even The child's attention was peaked but She remained where she was, on The ground but a meter away. The Raven was gone. Or was he? A brindle Staffordshire terrier sat motionless at the woman's blind side. None of this bizarre crew said anything immediately. Kieran setting a chair to the left of Grace Parker his behind, elbows on knees he glared down. Laoch sat at the side of Boland. The Raven, now in the form of Pit bull bolted chasing a fly. Deftly snapping it from the air He spoke -The Raven- "Death to all those who would whimper and cry!" Paw then pointing to the upwards -The Raven- "The Sun's not yellow, it's chicken." Theatrics performed it took up position, sitting at Grace's left

Where O'Rathallie had to stifle a laugh O'Maolchonaire just stared blankly at the beast's antics and grumbled -O'Maolchonaire- "Ah.... Yeah. Then howled roughly -O'Maolchonaire- "Silence beast!" Looking back to the group he lit a pipe and his partner took up the voice of the two setting the scene straight -O'Rathallie- "This is the battleground for the hearts, souls and minds of people." Right index accenting his words -O'Rathallie- "But their is no war; all we have is the truth." Quickly off the philosophical he added -O'Rathallie- "As far as mapping goes we can parade on and off that planet with ease...." Enforcing the point O'Maolchonaire stated coldly -O'Maolchonaire- "Blindfolded." At that point his college asked -O'Rathallie- "And where exactly are Iniquitous and Piteos?" Was a bit of a pink elephant that one. That painful query made, both of the men stared momentarily at The shape shifting Raven, now Dog. Then Maureen. Both men wondered. Imagined. They would make for one terrifying duo.... Of course some arrogant fool might, purely out of ignorance and ego, wind up being left nothing but a piece of overcooked meat in their wake.... The minds of the two became lost in history. And the spoke. Conversed. History. A subject reviewed far too little. Read. But that might be like waking a sleeping bear.... But the topic was swept aside as O'Rathallie glanced into the box, which Laoch an Kieran had stole or rescued, depending on who's interpretation of the act you heard, from Boland's own Utopic Vulture, and gasped. O'Maolchonaire turning attention to the box himself sat froze for a long second. Then reaching into the crate he then withdrew the hand now holding a green rock with a incandescent glow. The aged man muttered -O'Maolchonaire- "Cloch beatha...." Both himself and O'Rathallie stared at stone wordlessly. Placing it back into the container O'Maolchonaire's attention returned to the discussion at the table

O'Rathallie and O'Maolchonaire may well have show great interest in the odd finding presented by Kieran and Laoch. Boland found it odd how the pair had found said items whilst snooping around in his ship. Shiny stones get kids all excited he mused. However, the words used by the old man identified the rock perked the attention of all at the table. The pair of Sean chai again fell into a quiet discussion. Conversely, Grace turned to Boland and asked -Grace- "Did I catch that right? He said 'Life Stone'?" The man nodded as he spoke - Boland- "Is ea." The couple stared at each other blankly for a time before anything was said. Then with but two words the woman captured the shared feeling betwixt Boland and herself -Grace- "Fuck me...." All attention had escaped the animals and the little girl. Walking by The Raven, now in the form of a pit bull, The hound nor Maureen showed any shock at the abrupt transformation . Funny that children and animals in many ways are able to process what adults simply cannot

O'Rathallie's thought was suddenly overwhelmed by a question that seems to cause great torment among males of the human spieces, namely: size. Oddly the mind of O'Maolchonaire became locked in the same question. Abruptly the latter declared -O'Maolchonaire- "You may never hit bottom hence make beating the sides trying your goal...." Nodding in agreement his brethren added -O'Rathallie- "Indeed.... & don't forget the latter fooling yourself into believing that you actually achieved something." Both men busted a gut laughing. And Torna shot back -O'Maolchonaire- "Now that a chara is The Art of the Small." And they cuckled once again. In their jocular moment something was lost....

As the two men senselessly rambled the little girl with right hand stroked the pit bull on the back. And right there a miraculous metamorphosis occurred, to both beasts Devine. Which move happened first was hard to determine but as The Raven became bird once again the child sublime shrunk and straddled the majestic bird. And like that The Raven took flight.... With Maureen sitting on his back. Grace standing to her feet shrieked but otherwise remained wordless. Boland's first thought was to shoot the bird but he shelved that hair brained solution as fast as it formed. The hound sat watching with tail wagging.... Hair blowing in the wind Maureen wrapped both arms around The Raven's neck and clung for dear life. Brave she may well be but stupid she was not. Across the sky high the pair carved a path. Boland wondered at the beauty of those evolved to greatness quite naturally. Indeed the little girl was among that few of many. Boland abruptly asked those around him -Boland "Ok.... Am I the only one who wonders how immediately following Order 66 the Jedi, omnipotent indeed, were struck down like total punks?"

And the two Elders watched. Watched and thought. And thought inspired conversation. They spoke at length of The Girl and The Raven. Natural And Supernatural. The par excellence of Our Own and the Other world. Now One. An idea began to form.... And they spoke of the great error being formed from emotion triumphing over common sense. What was once Home now overrun by the Faithless and Foolhardy.... A Great Collision was an inevitable. Indeed it was being planned
