The names came first. Dubh, under any rigid background checks, was not the name to carry. On the other hand, carefully moving around sticky genetic issues presented a problem. Here dealing with a readily traceable child recorded as being deceased was the most difficult. Briget stopped for a moment and began Ciarán Dubh Laoch Bán Dubh The last name Black was discarded almost as quickly as it crossed her mind. Laughing at herself she went back to work. Then it came Kieran Dove Laoch Van Duffy These men were single porters with an extremely vague background, thus making improvisation easy. For two professional con men that worked quite nicely. The other three required some thought. Reviewing their files all fell in line. Boland was a former NCO with the Imperial military. And civil records were chalky at best. Moreover his death had not been recorded. Thus, his name remained unchanged Harry Boland Gráinne Mhaol she simplified into Common. And a daughter was added. Grace O'Malley Maureen O'Malley She then had identification papers supporting all of these names produced. Boland and his common law wife O'Malley had a daughter Maureen. The rest was a piece of cake. Physical identifiers including blood types and finger printing were put together. And the complex was made simple. Boland’s ownership papers for the YT-1300 light freighter The Utopic Vulture were put together. Done. She sat back and sighed. Leaning forward she took a look at the missing piece. The Raven. But no need change a thing. A comment that perhaps the linguistics be modified in open speech was all that she noted. She then relayed a message out and the hardcopy info was delivered

Gráinne opened her Comm. on the fourth buzz -Gráinne- "Ok.... Thanks." As she cut the link the paperwork was being delivered. She noticed an interesting addition. Nommad was a serious, exacting... and from what she observed a sensitive woman. She had included a black eye patch. With a quivering hand she picked it up and put it on then looking at Maureen -Gráinne- "Arrgh!" That stimulated laughter - from the child and around the room. And that was good. She then took Maureen gently on her knee and began explaining all of the paperwork to her. The girl looked at her wide eyed a few times but was silent

Gráinne took Maureen from her lap and standing the girl at her side then stood. Leading her by the hand they walked outside down to the hanger. Walking around the Utopic Vulture Gráinne casually allowed her ring to slip and fall under the ship -Gráinne Mhaol- “Could you pick that up?” At that simple request the ship rose up off the ground and bending she neatly snatched the ring. Slipping it back on she spoke matter of factly -Gráinne Mhaol- “Thank you.” The ship settled back down gently. Her heart beat fast but she made no mention of the incident as she took the child’s hand and they walked away

Briget seeing Gráinne approaching took a seat, tossing her hair back then sighing deeply. It was time to broach a tender subject. Briget was highly skilled at many a thing. She was the equivalent of a doctor in many respects but the bulk of her learning and practical experience came from work among Outlaw Techies. Plastics, both reconstructive and cosmetic, were among these

Gráinne sat patiently in front of Briget. She looked at the woman and flatly asked -Gráinne- “What now?” She sat back staring at Briget

Looking at the horrific scars on Gráinne’s face Briget fought to hold her cool professional air. It was far from easy. Pulling herself together she bluntly asked -Briget- “we need consider how to treat your facial scars.” She followed that up quickly -Briget- “What would you like done?” She sat back and waited. The Military surgeon from her staff, Dr Din Cass sat in the background. Their options were limited on board but they had the capability of giving the woman a prosthetic eye. And they had access to a considerable amount of plastics specialists and equipment among the Outlaw Tech sources they knew

She recoiled immediately as if slapped then muscles on her neck went tight and teeth bared -Gráinne- "I want my face back." She sat back, the eye still in her head filled with hate -Gráinne- "That's what I want." Right hand crossing lips a face now nothing but filled with sorrow -Gráinne- "Excuse me...."

Even the hardened military doctor winced at the woman's reaction. She was a beautiful woman. Cass shook his head. Is. Is beautiful. Cass spoke -Dr Cass- "I will do everything in my power to repair any injury that you sustained." Nommad liked her people - immensely; they may have been what most would call criminal but they were very moral. She said nothing

Sucking up the emotion Gráinne answered a hard look on face -Grainne- "We have things to do and my pretty face is not getting in the way." Nodding upwards -Grainne- "How do we answer if any ask about this?" Her voice was now cold as ice but the observant could catch a glimmer of desperate sorrow in the eyes eye

This they were ready for. Well not her steel, which won a considerable amount of respect from both Nommad and Cass. Here Nommad answered -Briget- "You were the unfortunate victim of an attack on Coruscant. We have manufactured a backstory and have medical records to support the claim." She smiled. It was over and quite easily

Nodding along with Briget as she spoke Gráinne calculated what was next in her head. Pirate queen so they say.... And so they would see she thought. All was coming together and her mind moved a mile a minute

The boys stood ready, itching to move. Move. Ciarán considered the meaning of the word. To go in a specified direction or manner.... To change position. He feared that the universe was static and would die a slow death if things did not soon change.... And there he stood still thinking of that. Irony.... It was Laoch who spoke up -Laoch- "Grace.... When are we moving?" Ciarán snapped out of his tired inner dialogue; he was getting sick of himself

It took a moment to calculate that it was her he was addressing. Head lifting she gave no immediate answer but the wheels began turning. Finally she winked at Ciarán. That was enough; she was on it. After some time she pulled them into a map. There she lined out points - on the map and basic facts. Places known to be sparsely if not wholly unmonitored by Imperial forces. Places that simply were not monitored and those where policing the sky against anything but a full scale assault would simply be impossible. It was a universe dominated by the Empire. It was not an impenetrable fortress; far from it Maureen watched close. And she did not escape the eye of Grainne. Manipulating the girl was the farthest thing from the woman's mind. Using the girl's strengths to their advantage was another thing. Gráinne looked away then her head shot back. The child was levitating maybe an inch off the ground. She turned her attention back to the map and she spoke -Gráinne Mhaol- "We travel soon.... Smartly. Very Smartly." They were running low on supplies. The woman quickly spoke to all individually, Boland being last. Coruscant was the logical place to pick up supplies. Just about anything. Boland fired the ship up and it lifted slowly off the ground. And like that it was gone

Ripping into the hanger Boland parks the sucker almost on the exact spot from whic they lifted off. Pitching the sunglasses the woman remarks -Gráinne- "Wasn't that a lovely trip?" Boland answered fast -Boland- "A few more drinks might have helped." Skipping by that the woman asked a question that had been troubling her -Gráinne- "Ok... are we still trying to figure out what the 2nd order is going to be?" Answering fast -Boland- "I think that we need figure out what the first order is... first. Then we can worry about the 2nd." The pair nodded to each other and lit cigarettes as the dog and child stared at them. Maureen got bored and sat down then took to playing with a droid. She handled the tools as a child yet the skill and knowledge was freakish

So, the idea with Maureen was to encourage the girl. Simple thing really. A simple thing that a whole lot of adults seemed to drop the ball attempting to achieve with children. Briget wondered how she would contribute to any of this business. Then she watched the girl become mesmerized investigating the droid. Briget smiled as she went down cross-legged beside the robot with Maureen on the other side

Maureen looked up at Briget cautiously; this was her toy and she might not be so happy with her playing with the thing. Ducking her head she went back to investigating. Eyes thinning she pointed to a piece -Maureen- "What's that?"

Bridget smiled and began talking. She was an excellent teacher. The child was young but obviously wise far beyond her years. Wise and very smart. So The secret was communicating complicated facts in a format that was understandable. So Briget explained in a manner that fell somewhere between Polka Dot Door and a university seminar. The kid seemed to be ingesting it like candy..... And Briget was having a field day

Gráinne Mhaol and The Raven watched as Maureen enthusiastically spoke with Briget. As Maureen soaked up the information Gráinne nearly began taking notes herself, not on what was being said but how it was being said Boland bounced over just as Maureen seemed to be becoming bored with the droid lecture. She ran to him and put up her fists, tossing a wild jab. Boland observed -Boland- “Right handed eh?” Boland stood in a stance, front foot straight and flat with the rear turned, standing on the ball of the foot. His left hand was raised at the chin ahead of the other, which sat back level with his jaw -Boland- “Do this Maureen. Keep that right in the pocket” The little girl followed his instructions, mimicking his position -Boland- “Good! Good! Now foot work….” He moved gracefully and again she did as he did. Basic dancing The Raven and Gráinne -Grainne- "We're creating a bloody monster....."

Gráinne’s mind moved past the scene in front of her, with Maureen playfully dancing around with Boland. Planning. They were wanderers. An Lucht Siúil. And the ship was now home. Making it such was next. Now As she thought Boland continued play fighting with Maureen -Boland- "Keep your thumbs in and straighten out your wrist. Putting out a fist he showed her -Boland- "See that? You keep your thumb under your knuckles and the wrist straight." Again the little girl followed his instructions. The younger the kid the easier it was to form good habits. They danced about as the woman's mind danced to a beat of its' own. Briget was becoming comfortable and Grainne wanted that. A team. And this was home base
