Vasari's eyes focused on the crystal as his tunic fell open. Despite his impressive age Viox's body was still in superb shape, but it was nothing new to Vasari and so her focus fell on the crystal, the topic of his lesson it seemed and the answer to her question as to how he could control the essence of so many different spirits. She considered him for a moment, and while she had questions concerning his Force Walking experience that was something that she had studied before and so it wasn't at the top of her list of things to ask about. But still the curiosity was there so it might come up in the future.
"I've never used a focal point outside of my own mind..."she mused softly reaching out towards his chest to touch the crystal and the scared skin around the wound. "Though I would assume it wouldn't be that different from focusing ones mind through the saber crystals in combat. yes?"
The connection gave her a bit of hope that it would be that simple, but if that was the case then a talented enough force user could change the tuning of the crystal and take control of the connection between him and the spirits. That made her raise her eyebrow in question but she kept her thoughts to herself as she looked back up at her Master's face. He seemed to be thinking about something else. She paused for a moment and reached her mind out to him attempting to focus enough to read his surface thoughts. Her mind fell to crumbles almost immediately but not before several images of a woman she had seen before flickered through her mind. and the feeling of loneliness soon followed.
"Do you miss her?"

Normally one not accustomed to physical touch, at least from those he either trained or employed, he allowed Vasari's hand to touch the gently pulsing red crystal embedded in his chest, and the scarred flesh around it, while answering her first question. Focusing through a saber crystal to amplify one's connection to the Force, enhance combat reaction time, or simply be more in tune with one's actions was fairly commonplace for most Force wielders, though few might actually admit it. He, himself, was guilty of utilizing this technique from time to time. And while it did require concentration, it could be done well enough with practice and dedication. Utilizing a focus point that was, for all intents and purposes, apart of you, was much easier. Awareness of oneself aided in keeping and maintaining connection with the focus point, much like it was with a saber crystal. It required less concentration when it was apart of you, in comparison to something held in one's hand.
"Similar to that, yes. Easier to focus on, I find..."
He replied, trailing off. Her mental 'intrusion' did not go unnoticed, though rather than resist her, he allowed her feeble attempt to happen. She was weakened and wounded, though the synthflesh seemed to be taking nicely. Mentally, Vasari was a mess, and he knew that. And despite all that had transpired with her, and the fact that he was due back to the fleet to continue the campaign against the Sith Worlds, to turn the Blackguard Reborn into the Imperium he envisioned, he found himself often wondering about Larissa. Together, they had been lovers, partners and possibly even soulmates, if something like that were to be believed. They had endured life, death and parenthood. He had shared his most intimate moments with this woman, a woman whose presence was increasingly more distant and absent. Obviously, his own ambitions and grand schemes occupied his time, and with his slowly fraying mind, he often found himself alone. Without her. Exhaling a noticeable sigh, he replied to Vasari's question.
"At times...some more than others, perhaps..."

Iridonia - Malidris. Imperium Exar-Class Star Destroyer: Starkiller.
As the Exar-Class Star Destroyer settled into position over the Zabrak city, Venom issued his orders.
"This city belongs to the Imperium now. Reinforce our hold over the Dark Diamond Palace, then proceed to push those loyal to the usurper out of the city. Any soldier or civilian that claims fealty to the infidel Vallius is to be executed on sight. All traces will of his existence will be purged from the city!"
As shuttles launched, and the fighters were refueled from their patrols in orbit, they too, were launched and began strafing runs on defensive emplacements and provided cover for the Imperium's landing craft. Among the transports heading to the Palace, Venom was on board one of them, ready to cut the heads off of everyone that allowed Vallius to seize power over the Zabrak homeworld.

Arsus Company Among the landing craft that had been launched and were heading towards the Dark Diamond Palace, Arsus Company had been assigned for the invasion. Formerly stationed in the Golden Room and the rest of that level within the Dark Diamond Palace, Arsus had faced the brunt of Vallius' betrayal and subsequent coup. And while clone soldiers could never replace any of the recruited soldiers, it had brought the company back up to full strength and allowed them to participate in this attack. Several Imperial Assault Shuttles followed Darth Wraak's shuttle towards the Palace. As they approached their destination, Major Vincent Cole addressed his troops."Fate has brought us back here. And the Empress herself has given us the authority to execute any and all loyal to the bastard child, Vallius. Support Lord Wraak and execute your orders like I know you are capable of. Just make the enemy suffer for their transgressions. We owe our fallen that much! Ooh-RAH!"A loud chorus of "Ooh-RAH!'s" echoed through the passenger bay of the shuttle and over the Company's all team frequency. It was time for payback. It was time to let the streets run red with the blood of the heretics. Malidris would be cleansed.

Arsus Company Major Cole and the rest of Arsus Company reveled in purging the courtyards around the exterior of the Palace. Bodies in red armor with black tribal markings painted on, a symbol of their loyalty to Vallius, littered the courtyards and anywhere else around the Palace that they had been found. They had been executed with extreme prejudice. Even had they opted to surrender, they weren't given the chance. After how viciously Vallius's followers had incited the coup against the Blackguard and the subsequent bloodbath that Arsus had endured to escape, they were returning the favor. Violent and brutal, these recruited men and clones alike ensured that Vallius's supporters were put down. Hard.

Shuttle Transition to the Dark Diamond PalaceStanding in the passenger bay of the Imperial Assault Shuttle, the Black Emperor leaned on his wroshyr wood cane. The physical decay and deterioration of his body had set in to the point it was nearly impossible to hide. Previously, use of a holo-shroud could hide the effects. Now, however, the decay had become too great to hide with just holograms. The once well fitted robes now hung gaunt on the skeletal frame of the Zabrak. Looking more and more like a zombie than anything living, the Sith'ari was physically in dire shape. And mentally he was not much better. Though the focusing crystal embedded in his chest as well as refraining from tapping into the Elders' power had slowed the mental decay enough."The Golden Room. My throne contains the information needed to access my lab...soon I will be whole again, my Empress. Despite my frail visage, I am more than capable of leading the Blackguard. And if I am not, then you and my Jen'ari will carry out my vision...either way, my will shall be fulfilled..."At this point, standing on death's doorstep was an understatement. The Zabrak was frail and sickly looking. The once tightened and toned, muscular body was now a hunched over skeleton with some semblance of skin still attached to it. Possessing just enough strength to support his own weight, barely, the Zabrak was physically, practically dead. A weak, raspy voice was all that remained of the once commanding baritone voice he possessed. The once fierce yellow eyes were now almost entirely clouded over. Despite being tattooed over his entire body, age spots had begun to appear. All in all, the image of a decrepit old man on his death bed. But soon that would all change....

The frailty of my Emperor and lover bothered me deeply. However, I knew that this man had a plan, despite everything. His uncanny ability to have a plan for almost any scenario was about the only reassuring thing I could think of. And I didn't doubt that despite his frail visage, he still possessed the strength to lead the Imperium. The real question was: for how much longer? Each use of his powers sapped his life force. His body was becoming a withered husk. A shell of his former self. Were I ambitious enough, I'd feed off of his life force or kill him outright. Though, given my position of power and the prestige that came with it, I knew better than to entertain those ideas. And honestly, I did love the man. It took time to find those feelings, but they were there. His strength, his brutality and his tactical brilliance. All of it was enough to draw me in. Some have described being in his presence as suffocating or drowning. I however, have not experienced such feelings. Another good indicator that I chose the correct path when I was offered to become his Empress. Still, it was difficult, watching him waste away to nothing. And knowing that despite his best efforts and all of his knowledge, Znalost might not be able to correct Viox's condition, was nearly unbearable. I, however, pushed those intrusive thoughts from my mind and flashed him a small smile. "I know, my love. We will get you to your lab and ensure everything is in place to have Znalost do whatever it is he needs to do...or I will die trying." The fact that I was willing to do whatever it took to ensure Viox succeeded actually scared me a little. However, I also knew just how deep his schemes were and just how well planned out everything actually was. As of now, only the selected Overseers and General Xethuys were aware of Operation: FRACTURE. But they were all operating on the assumption that Viox was going to die. I knew differently. At this point, death wasn't an obstacle for him. It was merely an inconvenience. And an inconvenience that could be rectified with the right amount of science, technology and forbidden magics. Only time would tell just how much of each was needed.

It was comforting, knowing that his choice to select Natalia as his Empress had been worth it. She certainly had not failed to deliver. My Empress. The Dark Diamond Palace is secured. My forces will be ready to regroup and begin pushing the betrayers from Malidris on your orders. And then the order came. The Dark Diamond Palace was secure. The shuttle carrying the Sith'ari and the Empress veered towards the Palace, as did its fighter escort. Malidris was still rife with battle. Vallius' supporters were entrenched and committed. But that was irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. Whether or not Iridonia bent a knee to the Imperium once more was of little consequence. With the Force in flux and rumors of another galactic conflict brewing, one planet was inconsequential to his plans, regardless of it being his home world. Soon he would be on the ground, heading into the Palace to execute the next phase of his plans.

The skies darkened over Malidris as Imperial transports and their starfighter escorts screamed overhead. Soon, a full legion of Stormtroopers, with auxiliary troops, landed within the capital of Iridonia. The commanding general sought out the leadership of the Iridonians, given the retreat of the local Sith forces. All that was requested was that no further blood be shed, no tensions be allowed to persist, and that Iridonia join the Empire for the greater good of its future. Without many other options, the Zabrak leadership bowed to the requests of the Imperials.

Lord Commissar Brigatea was the first amongst the Commissariat to step foot upon Iridonia. Her personal battalion of Stormtroopers and Judicial Troopers soon followed after her along with the handpicked group of Commissars that were accompanying Brigatea on this venutre. With Viox's doomed Imperium brought to heel, the First Order had conquered the world and brought it back within the fold of the Empire. A mission which meant a great number of First Order personnel were being relocated to the world - whom would have their loyalty to the Empire tested - to govern over a people whom would be introduced to proper Imperialism.
While Zariel and her Inquisitorius were tasked with quelling the last of the rebellious groups lurking upon this world, Lord Commissar Brigatea and the Commissariat would see to the people's re-education. A task which had started with the the display of the symbol and flag of the First Order to replace those of the Sith. The next phase would involve the broadcast of Imperial Propaganda once their temporary local office was set up enough for it. More permanent offices would take time to complete and a Commissar-Captain would need to be assigned to oversee ongoing operations. Brigatea's assignment was very much temporary and meant only to help efficiently begin the process

Brigatea continued to oversee operations on Iridonia where a temporary office was finished being set up as a more permanent office was either found from amongst the existing buildings or a new building site was selected. While much of the new Imperial news and broadcasting was sent in from off world, the Commissariat soon had a local office setup enough as to be able to handle local transmissions. These broadcasts were much more targeted to the Iridonian's. Images of imprisoned and executed Sith Lords were put on display, showing the might and triumph of the First Order over the Sith that had once tried to rule here. Imperial Military recruiting posts were set up across the city to encourage the locals to sign up and train to join the various branches of the Imperial Military Machine. pilots, Stormtroopers, Captains, Mechanics, all sorts of skillsets were needed. And Brigatea was happy to ensure her people spruced the Military to a position of aspiration. A tactic which had been working quite effectively

As the weeks and months passed, a permanent local Commissariat office was procured and setup in middle of Malidris. In its prior life, the tower had served as office space for various businesses. Many of them had cleared out previously, and those that had remained were brought out of their contracts and offered office space in other buildings. Allowing the Commissariat exclusive use of the building. Training facilities, office spaces, broadcasting studios, re-education areas, and even holding facilities were installed to allow ongoing operations of the Commissariat to continue. Commissar-Captain Vennea was also appointed to head up operations on Iridonia going forward, allowing Brigatea to hand over the work she had been doing and take her leave of the Zabrak home world and attend to duties elsewhere across the First Order

The Fury-class made its way through the skies over Iridonia as it approached Malidris. With each passing second, he grew closer to seeing his family and finding out the truth of his recent nightmares. Hope remained that it was in his head, but deep inside, he couldn't shake the feeling that he was in for a rude awakening. A piece of him wanted to fly away and let the feeling fade or bury it deep inside. But he couldn't. He had to know why he was being shown these things.
Reaching the city, Karnac brought the ship down into a cleared landing zone in the spaceport. Taking a transport, he headed to the district where he once lived. He thought of simply heading to the home he remembered but had to acknowledge they might not be there anymore. After all, it had been fifteen years since he left to become a Sith. While some contact was there when he resided with the Blackguard in the Sith academy on Iridonia, it all ceased the moment he left for the Resurgent Sith Conclave. For all he knew, his parents moved or were dead.
He asked around, and his thoughts were realized when he heard from residents of the area that they had moved to the outskirts, just outside the city. It was strange to think they went there. Did the fall of the Sith and the rise of the First Order have something to do with it? Did his departure bring them to ruin? These questions began to swarm as he went to the home his parents now had.
Reaching the door of their home, he saw it was a bit run down. He couldn't help but feel this was his fault. Still, after a moment of debating the matter, he finally knocked. His anxiety began to surge as the seconds passed, finally catching in his throat with a sudden breath as the door opened. Greeting him was a female Zabrak, his mother. She was much older now, and he could see the marks of stress and worry. An awkward smile came to his face as he looked down on her, his height making her look small.
"Hey...mom. I'm home."

The woman's eyes stared up at him with focused confusion and uncertainty before widening slightly as the reality began to sink in.
"Duvrax..."
Karnac nodded, his smile softer than any would ever see. For just a moment, the Sith didn't matter, being a prodigy, the Eternal's Champion, none of it. For this moment, he was that small child who came home to a loving family after a long day. It wasn't the childhood he knew, but after so long, he now understood that feeling of family. "I came back to see you and Dad."
She didn't reach up to embrace him or offer that same smile. Her head dropped as she turned, allowing him to enter as she moved inside. He followed, closing the door and taking a look around. Until he left for the Sith academy here, they had lived with a fair bit of luxury. It was strange seeing all that glamor gone. Had he continued as he had when he first left, he'd have been appalled at the sight. But after seven years of training with Gavin and his comrades, living with barely more than the clothes on their backs, he knew this was more than enough.
His mother returned to the kitchen as he stood at the edge of the counter that separated them. There was a silence that hung in the air as Karnac sought the words to say. One would think it was easy after all this timeโthere was so much to talk about. Yet, how did he go about it, especially when she had said nothing more than his name?
After a moment, she finally spoke up.
"You have been keeping up with your training as a Sith?"
It was all she said in a nearly flat tone. Karnac let his gaze fall a bit as he nodded to no one. It was what she and his father pounded into him for so long. The Force blessed him, and he would be a prodigy. Of course, she'd want to know he was still pushing himself. "Yes. It's been a long road with many obstacles, particularly failing orders. But I have risen to Champion of the one I'm with now. I haven't been with them very long, but they already recognized my power and capabilities."
Not once did she stop chopping as he spoke. In fact, it almost seemed like each second made each chop hit harder and faster. He could also swear he felt swelling frustration if not pure hatred. He didn't want to believe it was coming from her, but no one else was around. He took a breath and figured now was the best time to rip the band aid off. "Actually, I wanted to talk to you about something. As of late, I've been having nightmares. They are completely incoherent, but I know I'm a child. I hear voices, yours, Dad's, and others. They speak of many things: experiments, prodigy, a means to an end. There's also pain in such a way I can't describe." He took a breath. "I want nothing more than to chalk it all up to simple nightmares, something just trying to test and break me. But I can't shake the feeling that it's more than that. It's like forgotten memories trying to resurface. So, I need to know about my early childhood and what these dreams mean."
He stood there with eager eyes, hoping she would tell him the truth and grant him peace on the matter so that he could turn his focus on what he needed to do next.

Silence consumed them for a few moments as the anger Karnac felt seemed to hit a breaking point. His mother's hand tightened upon the knife before she slammed it into the counter. When she did speak, her voice hissed with hatred.
"You wretched child. Even now you exist only to torment us. I curse the day I agreed to bring you into this world." She turned to face him, eyes locked tight upon the man. "You want to know the truth?! We never loved you! Nothing more than a means to an end: an experiment for another and a luxury for us. Do you think you were blessed by the Force? A lie to boost your ego and make you feel superior to those around you. Everything about you was bestowed through selective breeding, alchemy, and magic. You were created to be like this. And when you had completed your training and proven yourself a success, we would have become like royalty." She scoffed as the knife she still held against the counter slashed across it, sending the food she was chopping flying as the blade was now pointed at him. "It all was going to plan. The pain and suffering I bore to give birth to you, to build you up as this false prodigy, weathering your temper tantrums and outbursts in the Force, losing the ability ever to bear children again, it would all be worth it. But then you had to become an apprentice to that psychotic bitch of a master that took you from the Blackguard during that resurgent coup. At that point, you were deemed a failure, as were we. What we had been given by agreeing to the deal and raising you was taken from us, and we were nothing. It tore at us for years, almost destroying us, before we finally found peace in our situation. But just as we do, you show up again to destroy what life we cobbled together."
The woman's breath was extremely heavy as she glared at Karnac, each second a fragile line of whether she'd lash out at him or not.

Karnac listened as she spoke, dropping the truth on him like a heavy weight. It felt like he'd be crushed beneath it as she kept piling more on. His whole life had been a lie. He was meant to be nothing more than someone's pawn, his abilities given to him by another Sith's will to undoubtedly serve some greater scheme in which he had no choice. He wasn't meant to amount to anything.
Through this, his family despised him. They tolerated him only for their greed and desires, the only driving force for his existence. So what did that make him? A puppet? A tool? Was he a true Zabrak or just some Sith-spawn creation shaped by alchemists?
With each thought, his breath grew heavy, and his head spun. He could barely keep himself upright as he began to stumble backward. He almost tripped and fell as he ran into a few things before gaining enough sense to turn and run from the house. Faster and faster, he ran, unable to see what was before him. It didn't matter anyway. He kept going until his legs finally gave out, causing him to fall flat onto the ground. The most he could manage in recovering himself was getting to his knees in a hunched position. And there he stayed as the thoughts ran through his mind, his breath and hearts erratic, too overwhelmed even to cry.

As the Zabrak knelt there, unable to move, his mind flooded with new thoughts. It was as if a door had been locked in his mind, sealing away the painful memories. That was until his mother's confession, which served as a key, allowing everything he had forgotten to come racing back. No longer were these blurry nightmares that left only a lingering sensation but vivid images and sounds of a time long past.
Rapid and panic were each breath as everything began to swell and build within him. The pressure inside was ready to burst at the seams and threatened to destroy him if he didn't let it go. Letting everything blend with his power, he unleashed it into his fists and arms as he began pounding the ground with everything he had. Each impact shook the area around him as the released energy caused the ground to crack and give. One hit, two hits, three hits. Each time his skin touched the ground, it gave way to him, slowly forming a crater. Four hits, five hits, six hits. The further he went, the more of his power he began to unleash. Lightning began to manifest over and around him, charging the ground and nearby trees. He kept going and going until finally, after the tenth hit, he yelled in a primal scream, a Force Destruction wave flying out in all directions, gathering up the lightning, amplifying the damage.
When all was said and done and the pressure within finally released, the spot where he knelt looked like ground zero of a small yet powerful explosion. Nothing remained except the crater and soft dirt. Yet, while the release allowed him to reign himself in a bit, it did nothing to quell his emotions. But at least now he could think. Letting the words of his mother and the images of his past fill him once more, all else began to fade aside from a single feeling: hatred. It was clear what needed to be done. For their deceit and manipulation, only one path was clear: death. Calmly, he stood and returned to his family's house.
Reaching the door, he lifted only a single hand before effortlessly letting the Force slam into it, causing it to fly off the hinges into the building. A scream was heard as Karnac entered, followed by a man's panicked voice. His father had come rushing to his mother's aid, saving the Zabrak the trouble of seeking him out. He couldn't make out what was said, nor did it matter. Soon, neither of them would be able to speak again. Lifting a single hand into the air, both of his parents levitated off the ground, almost touching the ceiling as he began to choke them. He could have crushed their bones and organs in an instant, but what pleasure would he get from that? No, a slow death full of suffering was what welcomed them. The choking sounds of them gasping for breath, of them begging for their lives, were almost like sweet music.
But, suddenly, a feeling washed over him, dumbing down the surging anger. It was then he heard a voice in his head, a voice that had no sound.
~Feed me.~
He couldn't quite place it or figure out what it meant. But he thought back to the crystal he acquired and his promise to it. Was it communicating with him? This far from his ship? Perhaps it wasn't the crystal but some other essence seeking their lives. But his thoughts of the crystal made him dwell on his weapon. He was missing a piece, one he wasn't sure how to go about obtaining. But it seemed he had been given what he needed right here: blood spilled in hatred. They would do wellโa final act of sacrifice on their part.
His grip on them lessened as they could breathe again, if only a little. He couldn't afford to let them die now. He needed them fresh for the ritual, but he had ways of ensuring they'd remain subdued until then. Before he could speak, however, another voice spoke up. This time, it was audible, a faintly excitable tone of a male coming from behind him.
"Well done. You certainly have grown quite powerful, haven't you, Duvrax?" The Zabrak turned to see three others standing there: two humans and a rather imposing Zabrak. A human who stood in the front chuckled before speaking again: "Please, don't let us interrupt. By all means, let your anger and hate flow. Kill your parents and further embrace the darkness within you."
Karnac let his parents settle on the ground, though he didn't release his grip. Burning sulfuric yellow eyes stared at the trio as he took them in. "I should start by killing you for this interruption. But I'll grant you a single chance to speak. Who the hell are you?"
Another chuckle escaped the man's throat before he answered.
"My, my, such terrible manners. We are the ones responsible for your existence. You should be thanking us. Because of us, you have been gifted with a strong body and immense power." He then motioned to the Zabrak. "This man is your true father. Your mother was also an exquisite specimen genetically, the perfect match for such a fine Sith. A being capable of matching the Sith'ari would be born through their union, alongside some alchemy and magic."
Finally letting his parents go, he fully turned towards the Sith. He wasn't concerned about his family escaping, as fighting to live took all they had. Right now, he had a much bigger problem that he was far from amused with. Still, if they were a part of this elaborate scheme, his hatred for them burned just as fiercely. And one could never have enough blood for his upcoming ritual. "Well, if you are the masterminds behind this little game, then death is all that awaits you."
"Such an unruly boy. Don't worry; we'll beat that out of you soon. After all, you've had quite a few hiccups stunting your development, starting with that terrible excuse of a teacher. What was it? Gavin Phoenix, I think? He made you soft and tear down what your parents built. Then, your defiance in defecting to the Resurgent Sith. You were deemed a failure, yet you found your way here again. Getting things back on track will take some work, but we are glad your mother contacted us regarding you. But for now, you need to be punished." With a snap, the Zabrak with the group stepped forward.
Karnac couldn't help but scoff. Such disrespect for the man he called master. While he could let the rest of everything slide, as Vesperia was a rather cruel and insane master, this was one thing he couldn't. And he'd give them a little display of what that "sad excuse" had taught him. "Oh, so daddy needs to discipline his child. Is that it? Well, come on then, big guy. Let's see if you got what it takes to tango."
This remark seemed to piss off the Sith as he moved in quick and threw a punch at Karnac's face. He didn't dodge, allowing it to impact his face. It made him stumble a bit, but otherwise, he was unmoved. The Sith didn't make another move, allowing Karnac to chuckle and return his gaze to the man, a sinister grin on his face. "Well, I kind of felt that. But if that's the extent of your strength, then the failure here is you." Stepping forward, he sent his fist into the man's gut, forcing him to lean into him. With his free hand, he straightened the man and delivered an uppercut that sent him into the air a couple of feet before collapsing on his back.
But Karnac wasn't finished. With the Force, he took hold of his "father" and slammed him hard into the ceiling before dragging him across it. As he reached the back wall, Karnac released a Force Burst at him, destroying the wall and further battering the man. Then, with a quick pull, the man flew back towards the group, his neck finding Karnac's hand before getting fully slammed into the ground. It was enough to cause him to pass out.
With a quick turn, he grabbed the other two and slammed them into the ceiling and the ground. Chanting a quick spell he learned from Mystia, he let his hands spread out as the spell surged throughout the area, one that would affect the mind. "Don't worry. I will not kill you. I have special plans your each of you. Now sleep." That was the end; all five present now fell unconscious. Stumbling a bit, he wiped the blood from his mouth. He had to move quickly.
It was quite the trip getting back to the starport. Now, within his ship, he flew over the city to where his victims lay silent. He needed to get them boarded fast and hooked up to some IVs. Mystia wasn't the only one whose influence rubbed off on him. Etherra was an assassin, familiar with poisons and other concoctions. As such, he had some stuff that would keep them under until he got to where he was going.
Once loaded, the ship lifted into the air and blasted off into orbit.
