My lord, it would be an honor to further aid our efforts on the planet. What did you have in mind? Lucien motions Abigail over to a table, where the Jedi waves his hand subtly to cause a holoimage projector, in the center, to come to life, revealing the world of Ossus. Upon it's surface were a number of orange circles, blinking, while there were others that were green and holding steady. The High Lord gestures to the planet's floating image. We have been working hard with administration now. It's not as as messy as Serenno was after the Reunification effort, but it is a work in progress. I have done my best to elevate our capable Jedi, our loyal followers, and even natives. However, it is quite the task to ensure all positions are filled and available. One, though, stands out.Lucien points at one of the blinking orange lights which was over Knossa, the capital of Ossus.Baroness Xenia plans to return to teaching at the Praxeum, now that things are in full swing. As such, her position as Administrator of Knossa will be open and available to someone who is capable to take her shoes. It is a tall order, but we will find someone. He looks at Abigail.Think you can succeed her as Administrator?

The Countess sat and thought for a moment as she stared at the holo map. Administrator for the capital city was a big task. And one she was surprised to have been offered, given how junior of a member she had been of the Jedi Lords. But it seemed loyalty was paying off as she turned her gaze back to the High Lord. She gave him her signiture half smile and a single firm nod. If you believe I am the woman for the job, then I would be honored to serve our Order and this planet as the Administrator of Knossa.

It may take a little time to get used to the new responsibility, but the Baroness Xenia was leaving behind a number of good advisers for her successor. There was, after all, a number of minor offices that helped with assisting in administrating Knossa. Those that managed security, economics, social, and such that made up the whole engine, both non-force and force sensitive. Abigail would be given the necessary aid in ensuring she adjusted accordingly. Is there anything you will need upon taking office?Lucien asks, wondering if she would need anything in particular.

Abi's smile widened as she was given full blessing by Lucien, but soon her face became more serious as she started to give thought to what she may need in the coming days. She had brought some of her court advisors with her from Serenno, but most of those versed in administration had been left to help oversee her ancestral lands there. The Administrator thought and soon came to a decision. I would like to fill as many positions in my staff as possible with natives. I don't wish to brake or tread upon any local traditions. And they will know this world and the city better than any foreign experts. So I would like a list of those administering the place from before our arrival. Hopefully I will find skilled people who share our vision for this world.

That first part may prove to be a bit difficult.
The Ysanna tribes had cordial relations with the previous owners of Ossus. There are still many who are indifferent towards us or potentially hostile. Even the Ossus Volunteer Corps has had issues with recruiting from among their ranks. There are eager recruits, but also stark conservatives.
The Ysanna was a tricky situation that needed a very delicate hand. His diplomats were doing their best to maintain the relations, but there were always issues concerning native and local traditions. As well as the varying opinions between each tribe and individual. The diplomats did their best to offer incentives with trade and political influence to help with the Ysanna feeling welcomed and wanted.
I would suggest speaking with... Drasell. Artorius Drasell, he is one of the more successful diplomats with handling the Ysanna. He will likely be of good help in bringing their people to aid in administrating the city. Otherwise, there are plenty of other families, ranging across the board with their species and background.
With that said, Lucien looks at the holomap of Ossus.
You should be made aware that we have a special guest. A Yuuzhan Vong, an Executor to be precise. Nem of the Domain Yin. He is going to be helping us with reviving the planet by renewing the old Ossus Project from Kol Skywalker's era.

Artorius Drasell... A bi repeated the name, committing it to memory. She was about to make her departure, but her attention was drawn by the mention of a Yuuzhan Vong. Abi was paused a moment. She had never met a Vong before, only heard tales from her Grandmother about when they invaded the galaxy. But she had also heard that after the intervention of Zonama Sekot, many had found a more peaceful path forward. The Administrator quickly collected herself and found her smile again, hiding attempting to hide the uncertainty she felt. Very well, I will look forward to meeting him. In fact, if he is seek to aid in the restoration of, Master Thihni. She is a friend of my Grandmother's from her younger years, and has recently began a project I think will be very helpful here on Ossus. Anything else, my Lord?

Lucien felt the emotional reaction to the mention of the Vong. He knew it was a controversial decision, but Kol Skywalker had proven the benefits of Vong terraforming when it wasn't maliciously intended to destroy worlds for the sake of replacing a planet's population with the future Vong generations. Ossus needed to be renewed, it needed to be rejuvenated, it needed to shine as it did before. The High Lord was willing to take this measure to secure that world's future, even if it meant accepting the aid of former extragalactic invaders.
There is nothing else, Lady Bruce. I will keep an eye out for this Master Thihni. As I told Executor Nem, he will likely have to work with some of the galaxy's best minds, Jedi botanists, and the Neti to see this world restored to its former glory.

Thank you, my lord. I will inform Master Thihni to contact you and head this way. Then I will begin my roll as Administrator in ernest! The young woman bowed to her friend before turning and heading from the room. In transit to Knossa, Abi contacted her grandmother's friend and fellow Jedi. They would arrive as soon as possible.

Time had passed since Vakim had come to call Ossus home and the Jedi Lords his family. What had it been? Months? Years? Time had moved quickly, so much so that he had lost track. His service had him working as a Banneret, serving the Lords as a type of apprentice. The first rank for those wishing to grow in the world of nobility and leadership. Never before had such a thing been a focus for the Chistori, being the warrior he was. But a new life had awaited him, one that he and his crew welcomed happily. He could truly say that they had found their home and calling.
Once again, as many times as his tenure as Banneret, had he come to the Harcey Palatinate, home of the High Lord Lucien Malvern. Each time he wondered what his next task would be, never once dreading the summons. Standing tall as he walked, passing through the outer wall into castle's dominion.

Vakim was given his due welcome upon arriving to the interior of the castle. There, he was greeted by Yar Sho, the Kel-Dor retainer and commander of the High Lord's personal guard. He was shown through the hallways, brought into the main hall of Malvern's governance. It seemed Lucien was concluding a meeting with representatives of the Ysanna and Neti, ever consulted and spoken with as Ossus was their home more so than any other race. The Lord of Ossus took great care and measures to keep them in good terms, both with each other and with the Jedi-led government. Soon, the pair departed, bowing to Lord Malvern before they left.
Turning away from the representatives, Lucien sees Yar Sho escorting in Vakim Terrek, who the High Lord had the privilege of meeting a few times.
Welcome, Lord Terrek. I just read your report this morning on your aid in disputed territories among several Ysanna tribes. Though many have progressed with the times, there are still tribal lines that can easily divide their communities. It does require a careful, but firm hand at times.
Lord Malvern rises from his seat to approach where the two were.
Tell me, after all this time, do you feel you made the right decision to come and join us?

It interesting to take in, the welcoming he was given upon his arrival. Even at the bottom of the ranks, such a welcome was given. In the Jedi, he just arrived and moved about without much of a greeting except from a few others. Was it good, was it bad? He truly didn't know outside of it being strange to him. Some things were never so easy to get used to.
Reaching Yar Sho, the Chistori nodded to him before being led deeper into the castle. Upon entering the main hall, Vakim sought to remain out of focus as Lucien finished up business with the representatives, though his towering stature made that hard. It was when they left that he felt he could breath a little. Sometimes, he felt he had to hold himself a certain way when in the presence of those they were governing and fighting for. He had come a long way, but dealing with other people and leading was still something he was adjusting to.
"Sometimes, a way of life isn't so easily changed, especially when that way of life exists within one's very nature. But with time and patience, one can learn to open up their minds and see something new. I'm just glad that I could help to discourage more violent disputes. It still feels difficult being the negotiator rather than the warrior." It was this that allowed him to flow into the question asked of him. "It's hard to explain how, but being with the Lords has truly worked to help me change from being a simple warrior to a man of the people, one who can lead. The Jedi were no stranger to resolving disputes, but we were still mostly separate from them, unlike here. But among that, I am able to still remain the warrior I was, able to fight and do what I felt I needed to bring down the darkness and protect those in need. So, yes, I do feel it was the right choice."

Lucien nods his head at the words of Vakim. It was good to see that he felt this way, that he felt at 'home', if one could say it, with the Jedi Lords of Ossus. Though they were warriors, as nobleman, they had to learn other arts. Though crusaders, they had to understand not only how to protect but rule, administrate, and cultivate the land for the betterment of their cause and the people. It was hard to learn, but they were Jedi, they were protectors and benevolent rulers. Though they were nobleman, being a Jedi always came first for those of the Ossus Conclave.
As you may have been told before, there was another of your race that was with us. It is unfortunate that he has left us, but he too understood the struggle to change one's way of life to fit the role he played. It is thanks to him that, for a time, we had a thriving rebirth of the Yavin Praxeum.
It was truly hard to let go of Yavin, but they had to. The students and teachers, who were put in place by Maximus Thrax, were brought back to Ossus. A lot had to be given up for the sake of their consolidation. It was a hard choice, but as High Lord, Malvern felt it was the best decision.
Nonetheless, I thank you for your services thus far, Lord Terrek. You have been a most welcomed addition to our ranks.
Lucien could not say this enough.
I hear you have begun to consider a fleet. Have you spoken with your fleet commanders on a composition?

Vakim remembered the mention of another Chistori that had called the Jedi Lords home when he first arrived. It had been his intent to meet him if not possibly serve under him. However, such an opportunity had not come to pass. And now, with his departure, it seemed that it would be outside the realm of possibility for quite some time.
"Perhaps it is something that people like us can help better show others what can be accomplished if one truly wishes to see what else could lay beyond one’s horizon. It is a shame, though, that I was unable to meet him while he resided amongst the Lords. Perhaps fate will be kind enough to offer such a chance in the future."
It was then the mention of a fleet came into play following the welcoming of him in the ranks. He had given it thought, but outside of question about the types of ships the Jedi Lords fielded, there was little to indicate his curiosity.
"I have begun to think of it, though I’ve told none of this interest outside of simple curiosity into the ships that could be gained. I know that once I finally grew in rank, it would be time for me to take my place as a proper leader and as such, would need to be capable of fully defending this place with me at the helm. For now, I’ve been able to simply aid those in charge with what I have. However, I’m still uncertain of what kind of fleet I would choose to field. As such, I have haven’t brought it up to them."

Perhaps the hardest decision was one's fleet composition. Lucien knew that well, considering how much his personal squadron had changed over the years from a simple defense fleet that orbited his patch of territory on Serenno to a full-blown sector and planetary defense force, now situated in orbit over Ossus. The pride of the fleet, his Orion-class, could be seen, at times, through the clouds and beyond his reach. Sometimes, he missed his days as Lord Commander.
Well take advantage of those who have joined us. Once before, we had shipwrights from Mon Cala after its fall. Now we have skilled hands from Fondor, Corellia, and Selonia flooding in after the Coalition's demise. Work has begun on plans for an orbital facility to serve as a means of ship production and maintenance. Aldar also are capable with shipbuilding too.
Lucien remarks on the subject of vessels. He then rises from his seat, descending from the slight elevation to join those standing before him. Yar Sho bows and proceeds to return to his duties as Malvern motions for Vakim to walk with him. To an open window where fresh air could be felt and breathed in.
Your progress with us has been carefully noted and valued, Lord Terrek. You joined as a Banneret and eventually rose to that of Baron. You gained your ability to plant your roots into the ground and have sprouted since. As I said when you first arrived, all who are capable and have the determination will always find a place with us.

There was no greater truth. For some, a fleet's composition was easy. But there were so many options and styles and though he had led the crew of the Fireblaze since his master's passing, he had never been one to be that kind of leader and commander. It was changing all so fast and he was working hard to keep up. He had seen multiple options he liked, from a few Mon Cala designs, to a Republic over the years vibe, a confederacy configuration, and even focusing entirely on the ships conceived by the Lords, particularly the ones designed by the Aldar and the Bruce family. But ship types were only half the issue. Then there was size. He had to be conscience about the number of people that would serve him. That was certainly finite. So did he go with larger, yet fewer ships or down-size for a much vaster quantity? But for now, he would think further and see if anything stood out over the other.
"I'll most certainly do that. I'm sure I can better understand myself and what it is that makes a better fleet by consulting with them."
When the High Lord stood and motioned for him to follow, Vakim did so, staying a few steps behind. Yet, something surprised him. The mention of his place as a Baron. For a moment, he started to speak up confused as to the mention as he was still a Banneret and had yet to rise the rank. For a second, he thought this was his promotion through the ranks, just through a subtle mention. But before he could, he remembered that the rank had been given to him. He had been so focused upon adapting to this new life, working hard under those he served to show his worth. So much so that it was as if that memory was forgotten or at the very least, the elevation didn't register.
Taking a breath to focus himself once more, he nodded as he allowed his gaze to focus out of the lands that surrounded the Harcey Palatinate.
"I am only glad to have found a place where I feel I can fully express myself and my purpose while upholding the promise made to my former master. It is through her teachings and the very nature in which the Lords hold themselves to that have allowed me to grow as I have."

Lucien turns slightly and makes a sharp whistle through his teeth, causing one of his attendants to walk over. The High Lord politely thanks the servant who brings him some sort of rolled and sealed document. The Jedi Lords kept the formalities of both a Jedi and a Noble. Vakim deserved what was in the hands of Lord Malvern as he turned to the mighty individual and showed him the sealed document. Everyone deserved to be recognized for their abilities and their deeds.
Well, as of today, you are no longer a Baron, Vakim. I hereby elevate you as Count.
The document is handed up to the reptilian Jedi.
A High Lord knows his people. He wants to see merit be rewarded, the dutiful be praised, and the righteous to be recognized. For your duties, thus far, on Ossus and in the name of the Conclave, I hereby name you, Vakim Terrek, as a Count of our ranks. Your land grant is to be enhanced with this elevation. Those who are to be your vassals welcome your presence, both native Ysanna and other minor nobles and officials.
Lucien hoped that Vakim would accept this honor and continue to serve the Jedi Lords well as he had done thus far.

The surprises kept coming as no sooner than he allowed himself to recall the elevation to Baron some time ago that he was rising up to the rank of Count. Upon taking the document, the Chistori simply looked at it in silence for the longest time, unable to speak. Times were changing and it was truly time to grasp that change and embrace the person he had become. Which meant he needed to put focus into setting up a fleet to better serve the Lords and the planet he called home.
Even more was the enhanced land grant. He had gotten it upon his rise to Baron but hand set it aside, living within the temple or with which lever Lord he sought to serve for that time. Outside of the Jedi, he had never thought much about a home, always wandering. Even as a Jedi he never thought into planting roots somewhere. Now, it seemed, was that time. He would finally find a place to call his own. A place that he could comfortably reside and train others that came into the ranks of the Lords
It was time to embrace himself as a Jedi Lord, Count Vakim Terrell.
It was the. He dropped to a knee before the High Lord, his head bowing.
"I accept this honor and elevation with great humility and gratitude, my Lord. It has been my pleasure to serve and even more shall I seek to serve the Jedi Lords of Ossus, to protect the people we govern, and to bring to a knee all those who would threaten the light and the peace we strive to maintain so that they may be punished according their deeds."

The Chistori is urged to rise by a motion felt in the Force. Lucien would not have those of the ranks bow to him for too long. He was no King after all, simply a Jedi with a noble cause and righteous souls at his back. This was not a kingdom, but a cause, an order dedicated to the expulsion of the Darkness and ensuring the stability and ever-present warmth of the Light. Vakim, like many, deserved to be recognized for their merits and accomplishments, no matter how big or small.
Arise, Lord Terrek. Arise and be recognize as Count.
Lucien smiles as the Chistori knelt as a Baron and rose as a Count. He hands him his new grant, signed and documented, in hand, by the High Lord.
Be aware of something though, Vakim. Your enhanced grant will put you on the path of the Vong's terraforming. Be considerate and acknowledge their presence, aid them where they are needed, and simply stand to the side when it is warranted. They have been considerate of the Ysanna and ourselves, even going so far as to understand the sacred icon that is the sapling of Ood Bnar. The same should be shown in return.
Lucien made sure Vakim understood this. Not everyone agreed with the presence of the Vong terraformers, but they were doing quite the job with reviving Ossus. They were to be trusted. After all, Malvern knew of the World Brain, one of the last of its kind, was aiding the warriors and biotechnicians of the Yin Domain in this great work of theirs. If Ossus was to truly be splendid one day, the Jedi and the Vong needed to cooperate.

Rising to his feet at the urging. It was official now. He was a Count. The thought was still ethereal in nature, seeming more akin to a dream than real. But it was, the documents being handed to him the proof. He then listened as Lucien spoke, taking in the instructions. He knew of the restoration project that had fallen over Ossus. Attempted once before, it seemed that this time things were going well. They would simply have to keep their eyes open to ensure none would sabotage the attempts a second time.
"I understand. Any who would stand in the way of this project would be a fool, no matter the feelings of the Vong. Without the terraforming, this world would remain a barren one. Whatever I can do to help, either offering aid or stepping aside, I shall do my part and be aware of where I establish my new residence."

Lucien was pleased that Vakim understood. The High Lord did do his best to have his vassals, his fellow Jedi, and others to understand that the old prejudices of times before were best kept quiet and in the back of one's mind. There were certainly those who weren't happy and felt that the Vong were given too much liberty and trust. And yet, the war had long been over. The Vong had come willingly and desired to see the Ossus Project renewed. This time, with better cooperation and understanding than before.
You may have to deal with the Ysanna though. We are still having some trouble with tribes who aren't cooperative or desire to remain isolated. They haven't been too... forward, but there grumblings are well known and we have had issues with them stopping transports and harassing our research teams.
Just enough to make the message known, but not enough to warrant force in retaliation. Something that Lucien wanted to avoid.
There are several allied tribes though that are ready and willing. Make good friends with them and utilize their educated and skilled well. I want them to still feel like this is their world as much as anyone. We want to make this a home for the Jedi, for the refugee, for the citizen, and the Ysanna. For all to benefit from.
