The public areas of The Rock stretch from the large public docks and hangar bays to the market and commercial districts within the station. Here is where trade is carried out, and spacers and traders can find goods, food and drink, and entertainment catering to all needs. This is a huge area, active at all hours of the day with thriving market and nightclub districts.
The docks are always busy, though there is plenty of space for freelancers and chancers to wander in and out. Merchant traffic as well as cargo runs for the Vegemite Enclave keep the station a hive of activity.
The Wet Deck is the "downtown" district of the station, comprising an entire deck of pubs, bars, restaraunts, nightclubs and other social establishments. Alcohol and other intoxicants flow freely here, and security turns a blind eye to all but the most violent of brawls. It can be a dangerous place, but it's never boring. The Mad Mythosaur Entertainment Complex and other such venues are located here.
The Scramble is the in-house name for the main docks and fighterbays, so-called because of the ridiculous level of constant activity. Ships are constantly coming and going, or taking advantange of the extensive maintenance and repair facilities on-site. This wide expanse of docks is one of the busiest areas of the Fortress.

Soon after one of many freighters had docked, Duraanir slipped off the shipand easily into the bussle of the Scramble. He was here to find Aliit'alor Australis for a few reasons. High on that list was looking for work, and reconnecting his clan with Kaine's.
Duraanir moved with purpose to his steps, but he didn't have push to get through, most people simply stepping out of his way when they saw him. 'Look for Kaine in the loudest bar on Myrkr.' was all his father had told him when he set out. The Rock was still a relatively new addition to the planets orbit, and as such, he only had to follow the flow of eager people to a bar front. Bright neon assaulted the eye's, garrishly flashing 'Mad Mythosaur as passersby. Pressing his way inside, Duraanir would saddle up to the bar, waving the bar tender to him. When he spoke, it was accented by an older Mandalorian dialect that would not have been heard in some time.
"I'm looking for Aliit'alor Australis."

It's not everyday you see someone walk into the bar with a shield strapped to their back, but then again, perhaps it wasn't so odd considering they were seeking an audience with Australis. Mel sat in a booth, a bottle of tihaar and a datapad of merchandise keeping her company while she watched the patrons of the bar come and go. Her helmet sat on the seat next to her, her armor had seen better days but that was part of her look. Mel was never one for flashy trends. The stranger asking for the clan leader looked not quite human and Mel wondered about where he was from before she turned back to the listing of sniper rifles from her arms dealer. Shopping for Nola's replacement had proven both costly and time consuming but necessary. In the meantime, Mel had been talked into an energy bow and bowcaster. She had taken some target practice with the bow, deciding that the 20 or so year since she last held a bow were just a little too long ago. She had learned to hunt with a stringed bow when she was a child but these days, she was not the hunter she had been, at least not for beasts. She was still fairly proficient at hunting humanoids. She scrolled the screen up as she waited to see if the clan leader would meet with the newcomer.

The Mad Mythosaur was doing a roaring trade in booze and food, as per usual, though there was plenty of space in the large cantina, which had multiple rooms, calling itself an Entertainment Complex, which sounded fancier than the reality. "I'm looking for Aliit'alor Australis." T he Bartender pointed to the man just walking in the entrance. The Bartender turned away to get Kaine an ale, muttering. He does that every kriffing time...Kaine walked in, still in uniform from an inspection tour after his visit to the Covert. He needed an ale, noting the Bartender pointing someone out to him, and figuring said ale was already on the way. Kaine kept a tab running here, mostly for the troops, but he indulged himself whenever he could.

Duraanir gave a confused half tilt of his head and turned to follow the annoyed bar tenders finger. He would catch a glimpse of Melina over Kaine's shoulder, making note of the rough looking stateof her armor. His interest was piqued, but he would have to indulge it later.
His attention would return to Kaine, where he gave a half nod in confirmation. His left hand came up, grasping the elongated hilt coming from his side. He wasn't drawing, and his stance didn't show any intent of hostility. Infact, he seemed rather relaxed, or as much as one could look relaxed in heavy armor.
"Aye. You and I have never met, but I was told that my ba'buir was a mentor of yours...and that you might have work for a go getting, slayer of men, such as myself."

Kaine wasn't wearing his helmet, so he couldn't turn and look to see what else had Duraanir's attention. He kept his on the other man. Straight to the point, and up front, Kaine liked that. Mentor, though, that was an easy claim to make, and there was only one name Kaine considered having been his mentor.Work I have. He smiled at the unknown vod. What was your ba'buir's name, ad'ika? If the lad could produce the correct name, well, that would certainly open doors for him. A descendant of Reyn could be considered distant family as Kaine saw it, for no other being had been as close to a father for he, than Reyn had once been. Without Reyn, there could have been no Clan Australis, and all that came after.Duraanir Skirata Mel Tervho

"I would say you know already. I never knew him, but my ba'buir is Reyn Skirata. I'm Cuyan's boy."
Duraanir would shift and bring his hands up. There was a slight hiss as his armor depressurized, before he would slide his helmet off. He had Reyn's emerald colored eye's. He looked mostly human, save for the pronounced brow ridge, and the two boney plates near the top of his forehead. Even his accent was a bit reminiscentof his grandfather. He was Reyn's alright.
"Old man likes to say I got my mother's pretty, but thank Kad for that, yeah?" Duraanir gave a laugh, waving for a drink of his own. "But let's talk about work, hmm? I've put together a bit of a wandering group of people. Few merchants, some technicians, mostly young vod looking to take missions and make name's themselves. We are all willing to work. Might even have a few set up here if you have the space. They'll pull their weight."

Reyn, and Cuyan. Shab, no one would make those names up. Kaine could see the Taung in this young vod. Kaine smiled at the lad's joke and picked up his ale.Wayii, good to meet you. Both Reyn and Cuyan, well, those are names that have more than just my respect. He took a sip of the ale, and went to business.Plenty of work going on. Mostly scout work for now, Galaxy's a peaceful place. First Order and Corellians are squaring up for a go at each other, and let's just say we don't plan to let that opportunity slip if and when it happens. Kaine grinned. Lots of cargo work, patrols, intel gathering, that sort of thing, nothing too dangerous for now. Kaine sipped more ale. Eventually though, war will come again. It always does. I plan for us to be ready for it. Kaine meant Clan Australis and the Vegemite Enclave. He didn't have influence with the Mandalorian Assembly these days, and he didn't see he was responsible for them. He was loyal to Mand'alor, and if Mand'alor called the clans to war, he would come. Until then, it wasn't in Kaine Australis to sit on his shebs and wait for trouble.Duraanir Skirata

Duraanir listened to Kaine as he picked up his drink, downing a good portion of the ale in two draws. He didn't know much about what was going on the the Assembly himself, just that he preferred not differing to the Mand'alor for everything. He held his grandfather's belief that the clans would rule themselves just fine, and that the Mand'alor had very little to do with day to day governance. But he was just some backwater vod from Lehon, what did he know about what it took to rule?
"Sounds like a lot of outfitting and such going on right now. I'm not exactly the most subtle of vod" He would gesture to himself being of a stockier build, and clad in heavier armor then most. "But there are those amongst my people who act as good scouts. That being said, I have a personal project that might you might be able to give me a hand with. I need to get an excavation team to Dxun, without letting too many people know about it. I imagine Onderonians still get a bit twitchy at the sight of beskar'gam, and this project is a bit of a surprise anyway.
As he spoke, he would set his ale down and reach inside of his helmet, triggering a message to go out to his people, signalling for them to bring the ship in to dock.

The young Foundling hissed as she applied the soothing salve to the small burn on his forearm. “Ouch!” he snapped at her. “That stings!”
Eshana Farr merely quirked her brow, unimpressed with the display, and bared her sharp teeth in a sudden—but mild—snarl, “You’re lucky the shot only grazed your arm, utreekov’ika.”
Appropriately taken aback by the irritated togruta, the kid stared at her with wide, watery eyes. Satisfied that she had his proper attention, she bandaged the minor wound and concluded her lecture: “You know that you’re too young to be playing around with blasters like that, Llyr. Weapons are not toys.”
“But it was—!”
“But nothing!” she growled, cutting off the kid’s would-be attempt at spreading the blame. “You were holding the blaster! The blame is yours alone! It doesn’t matter what prompted your actions. What matters—the only things that matter—are the results.”
Finally, the kid hung his head in what looked like proper shame.
Nodding, her tone became more clinical as she brought the impromptu exam to a close. “The wound isn’t serious, so you should have no difficulties in resuming your normal activities. Keep it bandaged for the next day, or so; but in the morning, be sure to change bandages after carefully reapplying some of this salve to the affected area.” She handed him a small tub of the soothing salve she’d applied earlier. “If you notice any on-going redness or swelling,” she added, “come back and I’ll take another look.”
The kid nodded gravely at her and slid off the examination table. “Does this mean I get a pass on class tomorrow?”
“Ha!” she barked, “Not a chance. Now, get out of my med bay.”
Pouting, the kid left her in peace to clean up...
... Just in time for the ship to rumble to a stop aboard what was known as the Rock, a Mandalorian space station that had been commissioned by Clan Australis. Duraaniir, the son of Cuyan Skirata—the one responsible for bringing her into this motley mob of Mandalorian misfits—must have been successful in clearing them for docking.
To her surprise, she found that she was a little excited. She’d never been to the Rock before. The clan she’d long ago been adopted into—Clan Farr—was not big enough to belong anywhere. And the galaxy was a big place. One little errant clan of Mandalorians that kept mostly to themselves was not worth noticing.
“But that was then,” she muttered to herself, musing, “and I guess I’m part of Skirata’s clan now… somehow.”
Clans. What did they even mean these days?
She shrugged, made sure her pistols (Lefty and Righty) were secure in their holsters on either hip, and joined the small throng of people and creatures that were on their way to disembark the Kara’yaim.

For some things, Mel was a creature of habit. She put in an order for Verpine shatter rifle and closed her tablet, preferring to watch the meeting between Kaine and the newcomer, who had yet to introduce himself, though he did name drop a couple of people that Melina had heard of before. She poured herself another glass of tihaar and sipped it slowly as her eyes played over the bar. She had been at the Rock for about a week now, hanging out and going to fights, but she would need to figure out what she was doing soon enough. Not that money was a problem, but she was restless. She flagged down a waitress and ordered some food, her gaze turning to the holonet news bulletins that were popping up on her datapad.

The Kara'yaim had finally docked and Lynris was quick to exit ship. She enjoyed the life of travel but too long on a ship made her stir-crazy. Her inherited BD-Unit droid, JD-54 sat perched on her shoulder pauldron, its large "eyes" taking in the surroundings with what appeared to be curiousity. JD was colored almost camo looking. Most of his body being made up of a pale green with darker green markings. Lyn had toyed with the idea of changing his eyes-plates for yellow-hued ones instead but the little droid seemed wary of the idea. She joked that they would match in appearance if she did.
Lynris' strides were long as she too took in her surroundings with a curiosity matching her droids'. Lyn did not wear much in way of armor, opting for a lighter style allowing her movement. She donned a simple darkened green, nearing black, breast plate that appeared to have a few lighter grey markings, pauldrons of the same coloring adorned with the Skirata symbol, and her helmet which she carried casually in one arm. Underneath she armor, she kept it just as simple, mostly black clothing.
It wasnt long before Lyn found herself in conversation, she barely even stepped foot of the ship. Two human looking workers were having a light conversation about a Holo-drama Lyn was invested in. After a few minutes of conversation she sat casually on a storage box, swinging her legs back and forth.
"You cant be serious. You seriously think the senator is better for the Princess than her bodyguard! Did you not see the way they looked at each other when he saved her from the assassination attempt!"
Her eyes glanced over to the ship to see Eshana exiting the ship which prompted a quick good-bye to the two humans as she hopped to the floor and bounced over to the Togruta.
"Heard you got caught up." Lynris said with a smile which soon turned into a playful grin as she eyed Eshanas face. "Bet ya could use something to eat, hmm? Wanna hop down to the wet deck together?"

Cuyan emerged from the ramp standing on the platform of his repulsor sled, the bed stacked with barrels and boxes of bottles and a crate of weapons, his usual order for the Mad Mythosaur, and a smaller order for Sangria and Sin, a new establishment catering to more...advanced interests then the simple gambling and drinking of the Mythosaur. His baroque beskar'gam of green and gold, along with a wampa fur mantle covered his body, and the famous helmet of mandalorian warriors covered his head. He was lightly armed, by his standards, bearing only a brace of blasters, beskad and kal. His son was making introductions to Kaine, as he had been told, so Cuyan could freely go about his errands.
Dur'ika was a fine lad, but he recognized the thirst for glory that had driven him at the same age. So far he had shown more sense than Cuyan had at his age, and had not forsaken clan for a fool's crusade. Kad willing, he would maintain that good sense.
As he was leaving, he saw Eshana and Lynris talking, and smiled beneath his helmet. While Brynden was chieftain of the Skirata, Cuyan felt an alor's affection and responsibility for the other misfits who couldn't fit in with the other clans. Clans and warriors who did not even eschew the sorceries of siit and jetii, let alone kept to the wisdom of the great philosopher warriors of ages past.
If my father lived, he would be ashamed of what we have become. I am pleased at least that Kaine seems to remember things as they were. I hear Marev is even a force user. Such a sad state of affairs.
Cuyan consulted the map stored on the wristcomp incorporated into his vambrace, and plotted his course. First he would deliver to Sangria and Sin, then to the Mythosaur, then he would go to the covert and meet with the local Armorer, who was supposed to have charge of a shipment of refined beskar ingots for him, which he would trade credits, blades, blasters, and a veshok barrel of aged tihaar. Perhaps he would take in a bit of entertainment at Madame Gyselle's establishment, as he had been in space for a long time, and had been even longer without the touch of an eager hand. He smiled to himself as he started off through the tunnels of the Rock.
It was good to be among others again, he had not had an adventure in far too long, and places such as this, or The Nexus where he mad met Dur'ika's mother, filled him with the old thrill of possibility. Once more, he was just a simple man trying to make his way in the galaxy.

Thanks to her montrals, Eshana felt Lynris before she saw her—and she smiled toothily as the young mirialan flitted over to her side, effervescent as always.
“Yeah,” she confirmed. “One of the newest batch of Foundlings felt like establishing dominance with a ‘borrowed’ blaster, and got himself burned as a result.” She waved dismissively, adding, “Certainly nothing to interfere with grabbing something to eat.”
She took a moment to stretch in the comparatively larger space within the space station. “Where is the Wet Deck?” she asked, taking the opportunity to pat JD by way of greeting. Much like how she felt about its owner, she was quite fond of the little BD-unit as well.
After a pause, she continued, finding herself to be suddenly starving, “And what kind of food do you think they offer?” Her eyes glittered molten gold as she voiced a sudden thought, “Think I can find something nice and juicy?”

Lynris laughed as she heard the story of the foundling. It was nothing new for the younger to want to prove themselves in often the wrong manner. Lynris had unfortunately been at the bad end of such behaviours growing up more than she would like to admit.
"Hopefully after getting chastised by you he'll learn from his mistake." Lyn said with a slight grin as she watched Eshana pat JD who gave a satisfied chirp in response. Lyn almost wanted to curse whoever decided to make some droids seem so adorable despite being all mechanical.
Lynris rocked back and forth on the balls of her feet as she listened to Eshana. She liked the togruta. And though she would not admit it aloud had found an odd attachment to her. Perhaps she reminded her of her mother. She hope not dwell on it too long.
"Ehehe I hope they have some good sweets! I've been craving a nice pastry." Lyn laughed before adding "I'm not quite sure where it is. I haven't been here before either."
She glanced around hoping to find some signage to point them in the right direction. Below one such sign, she saw Cuyan stalking off.
"Hey" she whispered in a playful tone "bet he knows the best places and he's heading in the direction. Maybe....we could also head that way."
She paused and smirked. "Ya know, not follow per se but if we...happen to see if he heads into somewhere tasty..."

Eshana followed Lynris’s gaze over to the disappearing form of Cuyan and raised her eyebrows with another toothy grin.
“Sure,” she agreed, “but if he catches us, I’m just tagging along as your—what’s the word?—your… chaperone!”
After all, they didn’t really know where the older Skirata was headed. Maybe he wanted to spend his time alone while their relative freedom lasted. Maybe he was headed somewhere less-than-savory—although, the sled full of items for trade suggested otherwise. Either way, while the plot promised a lot of fun, she couldn’t shake the feeling that she was agreeing to do something… naughty?
Oh, she lamented to herself, I hope none of the Foundlings see me acting so childishly...

"Actually, Kaine, we will talk about that a bit later. I just spent the last week, hiding on a bulk freighter to make my way here."
Duraanir would give Kaine's shoulder a firm pat before he would grab his mug of ale and return his gaze in Mel's direction. He was keen enough to have caught her glances over, but was as curious about her as she was him, or so he thought. Then again, he was talking with the man largely responsible for everything around them, but there was only one way to find out. He turned and walked towards her booth, giving off a smile as he approached, inadvertently showing off his almost tusk like bottom incisors. He stopped on the other side of the booth, leaning on the seat rather then inviting himself too far into her space. He gave a vague gesture to his face, mainly the non-human bone structure.
"It's the face right? Other vod expect human, then get this."

"Nah," she replied as she took a sip of tihaar, her head shake barely noticeable. "Just not used to seeing someone walk around with a shield strapped to their back."
She gestured to the bar and door leading out to the rest of the wet deck. "Plenty of non-human faces around here."
She gestures to the seat across from her, raising her glass from the table to drain it before pouring another. "What brings you to the Rock?"

"Of course it's the shield"
The man would give a chuckle, unslinging his shield and kad-ra'gr, and leaning them both against the booth before he would slide into the seat across from her. His bulkier armor made sliding into the booth a bit awkward, but once settled in, he seemed comfortable enough. He took another long draw from his mug of ale. He set if off to the side and smiled as he leaned forward on to the table.
"Travel and work. I'm from the Lehon colony of clan Skirata." That explained why is accent was a bit different from others born into their culture "Wanted to come check with Kaine before I brought the ship in. "Looking for work myself. I'm from Mandalore, spent some time on Lianna, and bouncing around the galaxy lately." She poured a glass of tihaar, swirling the liquor around to see the legs of it spiral down the sides of the glass.
"Do you have a name for yourself, Lehon colony of clan Skirata, or should I make one up for you?" There was a sarcastic edge to her voice, paired with a smirk and a raised eyebrow.
She held out her right hand, palm up so as she spoke. "I'm Mel Tervho.
