Starfighter Squadrons
While individual starfighters must still be purchased utilizing fleet points, larger ships automatically come with a complement of starfighters, the number of which is dependent on their JvS ship classification as determined by their ship length. Please refer to the list of personal ship classes and their point cost here to help determine your fleet's composition. No starfighters gained from this system may be used as Personal Starfighters by Player Characters. They are to be used in combat scenarios ONLY!
If you believe that someone is abusing this system please contact a Whill via PM, Report a Post using the post options button or create an infraction report to be reviewed by the Whill Council.
Upgrading Starfighter Capacity
Each class of ship can be upgraded with more hangar space to carry a larger amount of starfighters. This is done by using more of your fleet points. Upgrading a ship's carrying capacity requires half the fleet point cost of the ship in question. The ship you are upgrading also needs to have the "Extra Hangar Space" special gear using the MAD system or canonically has the potential carrying capacity of greater than the default. If a ship in question does not have this special gear, it only comes with the default number of Starfighters for its ship class. A new sub-class of that ship can be submitted for review and approval by the Databank with the appropriate special gear.
To determine the MAD point categorization of a ship, please refer to the Database of Ships and Space Stations. If the ship you wish to use is not currently listed in the Database, you can create a submission in the Submissions sub-board, following the guidelines laid out in the Submissions Guide. Once it has been approved you are free to use that ship.
The numbers in parenthesis are the upgraded numbers for each class of ship.
Faction Ship (SSD) Starfighter Complements
Factions that have been approved use of Faction Fleet points can also utilize the Complement system, but to a slightly different degree. Any faction class ship's complements are non-upgradeable. This means that there is no option to add an 'Extra Hangar Space' special gear to increase the number of starfighters that come with the SSD.
Below are the complements given to each faction class ship.
Example
Cruiser class ship (without upgraded Starfighter Complement): 16 Fleet Points
Agility (A): 3
Defensive (D): 3
Offensive (O): 3
Speed (S): 3
Special Gear: 2 (Extra Hangar Space, Upgraded Hyperdrive)
Starfighter Squadron Complement: 36 Starfighters
Cruiser class ship (with upgraded Starfighter Compliment): 24 Fleet Points (Half of 16 is 8. 16 + 8 is 24)
Agility (A): 3
Defensive (D): 3
Offensive (O): 3
Speed (S): 3
Special Gear: 2 (Extra Hangar Space, Upgraded Hyperdrive)
Starfighter Squadron Compliment: 72 Starfighters
If a ship is canonically incapable of carrying starfighters, it does not receive any of these benefits. If the maximum number of starfighters a ship can canonically carry is different than its potential JvS allotment, the smaller of the two will be used as the non-upgraded allotment.
Fleet Profiles
With this new system in place, remember to show the number and type of starfighters each ship is carrying on your profile or in a Personal Databank. If you are using a Personal Databank thread for your Fleet Profile, you must still link the thread on your character's profile to ensure easy access to anyone looking for that information.
You may mix and match the types of Starfighters that each ship carries, but must make note of the quantity and model of each different Starfighter type.
Example Fleet Profile
Imperial I-class Star Destroyer 128 points
Starfighter Complement:
48 Starhunter starfighters
12 First Order TIE bombers
12 TIE/sf Space Superiority Fighters
48 + 12 + 12 = 72
This is just an example of how your fleet composition should be on your profile/personal databank. So long as all of the relevant information is included, that is acceptable.

Light Star Destroyer: (901-1300m)
60 - (120 upgraded)
Star Destroyer: (1301-1800m)

These numbers are not a cap for the amount of starfighters a ship can carry. If a ship is capable of carrying more, additional starfighters beyond the non-upgraded and upgraded complement numbers must be obtained using Personal Fleet Points.

Light Star Cruiser: (4001m to 6,000m) (Fleet Point Cost: 2 points)

Star Cruiser: (6001m to 8,000m) (Fleet Point Cost: 3 points)
216 starfighters
Heavy Star Cruiser: (8001m to 12,000m) (Fleet Point Cost: 4 points)
252 starfighters
Star Dreadnaught: (12,001 to 16,000m) (Fleet Point Cost: 6 points)
288 starfighters
Star Battleship: (16,001 to 20,000m) (Fleet Point Cost: 10 points)
324 starfighters
As with personal fleet class ships, this does not mean that the SSD is incapable of carrying more starfighters and other support craft. If a ship is capable of carrying more starfighters, it is able to do so; but any additional craft beyond the included complements must be acquired by using Faction Fleet points.
