A single YX-1980 drops from hyperspace and begins its rapid descent towards the city of Keldabe. Aboard the ship, Kebiin was still adjusting to the role of clan leader he had found himself in some weeks back. As much as he missed his old friend, he also missed the constant advice of the late gunslinger.

The trio of Kom'rk-class fighter/transports came out of hyperspace. Damocles had done a lot of traveling of late, and he was confident there was still more to be done. There were more Clan leaders to visit and support to gain. He had no intention of calling the heads together till he was sure he had given enough of them a reason to support him. Damocles opened a comm line to orbital control, requesting permission for the three craft to land in Keldabe. There was a moment of pause before clearance was granted. Damocles signaled to Escalus and Longinus to follow him down then

The Ba'balut blasts quickly through orbit and jumps to hyperspace en route to Yaga Minor. Kebiin was in a hurry and wasted no time sending any messages out to his clan yet.

In space not to close to Mandalore to cause immediate alarm, the void shatters, revealing a fleet of what appears to be a mandolorian fleet of antiquity. That was in fact not terribly far off from the truth, the massive difference being the antiques had been well maintained and overhauled rather recently. Fifteen ships in total hung in space, warming up their sublights and scanning the immediate area for other vessels. Finding nothing within the designated minimum safe distance, the fleet continued with the operation as planned. The twin Kandosii-class dreadnoughts preceded only by their Crusader-class corvette escorts, radiated an imposing presence into space. The four corvettes hung below the Kans, in a slight arc focused on the space between the two Kans. Three Keldabe-class battle cruisers slide slowly forwards, pacing the slower Kans. The Kels, and their respective escorts, are above and slightly behind the Kans in a steep parabolic arc that focuses on a point just beneath the center line between the two Kans. The whole fleet moved through the system at a leisurely pace, each ship clearly broadcasting II transponder codes. As it moved, the Aliit D'ordinii ships began launching fighters, which began weaving intricate patterns through the capitol ships, putting on a very clear show of skill and professional pride. Had weapons been powered up it might have been a decent show of force too, even for mandalore, but they remained dormant for the duration of the parade.
The fleet came to rest in a stationary orbit over Keldabe, and NCO reading through the local news, noticed that he'd come to late to make a splash in the evening news. Mandalore the Builder had been declared with the support of several of the old clans that had in their own times been great, but were in harder times now. D'ordinii, Carid, and Skirata had however declined to throw in behind the relatively unknown helm. NCO grinned, he might have guessed his vod would shy away from hasty alliance. To many of the last few Mandalors had led the clans down the wrong paths and left the clans in their diminished states. Aya would be careful about choosing her candidate for the Helm. Still, he had enough support to name himself Mandalor, good for him. That was the easy part though. Now the man had to bind the clans together into a cohesive unit. His title suggested he might succeed, if he knew anything of planetary economics and interstellar trade. Time would tell for certain, one way or another. For all the vode sake, NCO hoped this Mandalor got it right. NCO turned his attention to the present as a chime announced that he was due to meet with Aya soon, and had best be on his way if he wasn't going to be late. He walked to the edge of hangar, repulsor aided glider strapped to his back, and stepped out into the void, falling slowly towards the planet below, then less slowly. He activated the glider's thermal shield as his beskar'gam began to glow with the friction. It would just keep NCO from being cooked alive during his entry.

A fleet of three capital ships pops out of hyperspace in the approach lanes to Mandalore. Big ships, Keldabe-class. IFFs marked them Doomhammer, Shadowblade and Brightflame. In line abreast formation they were flanked by a pair of seasoned Nebulon-Bs identifying themselves as Taris and Serroco. Six smaller frigates arrayed above and below the line, Lancer-Class, were Enceri, Kyrimorut, Suntari, Hyllyard, Mos Eisley, and Tipoca. Flitting among the ships, almost invisible against the black of space were twenty Bes'uliik fighters, the pride of MandalMotors, and more than a match for any other fighter in the galaxy.
The home fleet of Clan Australis had arrived. It had taken almost five weeks to restore and crew the ships, but the extra time had been a gift from Kad, allowing time for exiles to return, and provisions to be laid in. Instead of a pickup fleet with piecemeal armament and supply, the Clan was approaching fighting strength for the first time in years. Commodore Auriana Kryze was the being most responsible for the herculean effort it had taken to assemble the spaceborne assets and get them to Mandalore as ordered.
A perfectionist, she still had a list pages long of issues to fix, shortfalls to manage, and a thousand other minor details that took up the time of a senior commander. Her natural Chiss professionalism and diligence served her ever well in this regard. Even now, her glowing eyes surveyed an array of data readouts even as she supervised the bridge crew on her flagship, Brightflame. Doomhammer was of course Kaine's ship, but seeing as she was in command; responsible for all that went on in the fleet, and the aliit alor was not, she had transferred the flag to her own vessel. And if his lordship objected, well, he could help with the paperwork, she had decided.
Brightflame had a predominantly Chiss crew, and here she felt so much more relaxed. Some of the habits of the more eclectic species on the other vessels still irritated her, even decades removed from the homogenous society on Csilla. Auriana didn't feel obliged to correct minutiae here, and this allowed her to redouble her efforts in other areas of administration. Now, with the fleet approaching readiness, the workload had begun to at least thin out slightly, giving her the opportunity to personally oversee the final approach to the Mandalorian homeworld.
Stepping onto the bridge proper on the Keldabe-class in the center of the formation, Auriana's clear, crisp command voice rang out.
Begin our approach to Mandalore. Outside the bridge viewports, the stars began to move, and Mandalore grew by the second as the fleet's engines pushed them toward Manda'yaim. Auriana amused herself trying to spot the elusive Bes'uliike flying among the ships as the fleet made its approach, though she didn't let it show on her face, keeping a stern visage.
Given the traffic around Mandalore with the Clans in town for the rise of a new Mand'alor, the fleet kept a respectable speed as it made its way closer to the planet. Never the busiest system in the galaxy, Mandalore could occasionally get crowded with the fleets of the various Clans all bringing the vode and their aliit alors to Mandalore, and let's be honest, the Oyu'baat, which was the center of the Mandalorian galaxy, if there was such a thing.
Auriana gave one last order as the ship slowed appreciably and turned parallel to spinward, on station above Keldabe.
Comms, let the General know we've arrived. She left out that she'd managed to bring everything. Kaine would find out for himself soon enough. It wasn't Auriana's style to court praise. The quick response surprised Auriana. What came with it shocked her into silence for a full minute.
Welcome to Manda'yaim, Commodore. My compliments, you are a credit to your aliit, Aur'ika. The General's praise was even sweeter coming without presumption, though his familiar use of the diminutive embarassed her slightly, given the public nature of the conversation. Linking you the details of the next step. Kaine out.
Auriana's eyes went over the transmission from Kaine. They went wide, then got wider still. The curiosity threatened to overcome even this most reserved and professional of bridge crews, and as she recovered, Auriana felt their eyes on her and managed to walk to her ready room without losing composure, though once the doors closed behind her she expressed herself to her shocked 3P0 protocol droid.
He can't be kriffing serious... As it turned out, even 3P0 droids could be shocked into silence, as was this one at seeing the first personal outburst Kryze had ever allowed herself.
Kaine Australis, as it turned out, could still surprise. Commodore Kryze's workload had just gone to a whole new level.

The arrival of the new fleet, was immediately recognized and welcomed. The Fleets of Aliit Austrailis had long since proven themselves both in loyalty and quality. Few could match Aliit Austrailis vod for vod, and the D'ordinii new it. True, they also suspected that they had the best claim to matching that Aliit, perhaps even surpassing that Aliit in due time. Unlike aruetii, the D'ordinii fleet didn't need know why the new ships were here, and didn't send anything more than a general welcome to the new arrivals, lest they interfere with pressing business. A handful of the older hands, sent informal comms to specific ships they recognized trying to reach old friends. To an aruetii, it might seem that fleet already in orbit over Keldabe, Mandalore, had completely ignored the new fleet. Mando'ade knew better.

The fleet of Clan Australis maintained its formation, orbiting Mandalore above Keldabe. Fighters continued to patrol the formation, sticking close to the capital vessels to avoid straying into the path of any of the other fleets present.
Aboard the Keldabe-class flagship Brightflame, Commodore Auriana Kryze was hard at work. Kaine's orders included a very ambitious expansion and re-armament plan that would increase the forces available to Clan Australis beyond anything they had fielded in the past, even at the height of their power. The logistics would be somewhat of a challenge, without a permanent base, but for now Kryze could handle things from Mandalore.
Kryze had already placed orders for the most specialized equipment; being the hardest to obtain, she'd opted to get the ball rolling on some of the trickier purchases. As usual, the ori'rami'kade got first call, being the backbone of what Kaine was calling the Australis Legion. Most of them were already outfitted, but spares were short, and an army needed spare parts as much as ammunition or food.
The part of the plan that had shocked her so much on initially seeing it wasn't the rearmament, or even the ambitious new shipyard to be built right here at Mandalore; she'd placed several orders in that regard too, but it was early days. No, the shocking part was the candidates for the Clan's new headquarters.
Plan A was a beskar plated super star destroyer. No doubt that was a product of some overindulgence in tihaar, thought Kryze. Kaine could be brilliant, he could also be frighteningly stupid. Plan B was a recruiting center and training facility on Mandalore itself. Sensible, with its own pros and cons. Plan C at first glance seemed to be another drunken fantasy like Plan A. Once she got a look at the details and read through the outline, Kryze revised her opinion. Plan C was certainly crazy, but it wasn't quite a drunk's wet dream. It could work.
It would probably stretch the Clan's resources to the breaking point, initially. Scratch that, it would certainly stretch the Clan. Planetary occupations weren't something to be done on the cheap. Still, Kaine had detailed that Plan C was the preferred option, and this Commodore Kryze knew was as good as a direct order as far as the aliit alor was concerned. She knew how his mind worked. Plans A and B were really Kaine's way of showing everyone, including himself, that Plan C was the only option.
From her desk in the ship's ready room, Kryze sent coded orders to the unit commanders detailing the preparations that needed to be made. Less than thirty individuals now had an outline of Plan C. Across the fleet, things began to move...
Brightflame launched several dozen hyperspace probes over the next hour, mostly coreward. Then once they were all launched, two groups split from the fleet, both the Nebulon-Bs with four fighters each, and went to lightspeed on separate vectors, leaving the Keldabes and the Lancers behind with a full squadron remaining.
Once they were away, Kryze commed General Kaine.
Scouting forces away, General. I've placed initial orders on the yard project, though it will be some time before we take deliveries. The special items have been ordered, I anticipate delivery within two weeks. Kryze out. With that, she got up from her desk and went to find lunch.

Plans had been drafted and drawn up for one of the most ambitious projects yet. An expansion of the existing MandalMotors yards. What had existed before, had been barely enough to keep the Mandalorians of ages past equipped. With the birth of the Mandalorian Assembly, something new and better would be needed to provide ships for all of the Clans. And Damocles had worked with several of the best designers at MandalMotors to design something that could handle such work.
To account for the scale of the yards, special considerations had been taken in planning out the construction phases. The first stage would be a functional, but bare bones structure capable of producing several capitals ships at once. Smaller craft would be handled by the original MandalMotors yards. The second stage would be a beefing up of the yards, adding several more docks to accommodate support class craft. The final stage, would be the completion of the docks, with several smaller hangars for the construction of starfighters and transports.
Several transports gathered in orbit, towing the initial heart of the yards with them. It was essentially a tiny station capable of maintaining an orbit, with areas for construction to begin branching out from. It took a little bit, but the heart was placed. The workers started exiting the transports and unloading supplies to begin work on the yards

Sometime after the slaying of Yun-Yammka on Zonama Sekot
“My Lord Commander, the beast approaches an unfamiliar system with several crafts in orbit around it.” The villip commander intoned, locked into the handler’s trance. “She does not appear to be comfortable with our current trajectory. It is putting a strain on our rearmost dovin basals.”
The bridge of the Suuv Ban D’Krid, or cruiser, “Ipy’minen” lit up with myriads of bioluminescent synapses, painting its first impressions of the new system and repainting the proprioception projection of herself. Although Suus was connected to the ship himself with his own cognition hood, there were simply too many functions, thoughts and raw visceral impressions to be processed by a single individual. It was too easy to lose oneself in the rhythmic hammering of her hearts, coils of steely muscles arching and flexing, directing the hundreds of dovin basals that allowed her to gallop through the cold void with effortless ease. He felt her hunger and fear, curiosity and hope, anger and longing, as if it was his own. She looked to him to guide her, as he looked to her for protection.
“Brace for the return.”
Stroking the central cortex, With a thought, Suus reined her in and Ipy’minen glided into real space in Mandalorian space. New impressions flooded Suus’ consciousness. They were at the very edge of the system, several hours flight under normal power before they could reach orbit. The planet seemed to shimmer in the glow of the nearby sun.
“Lord Commander, she has recognized these ships in orbit as “Man-da-lor’o” in origin.”
Suus praised Ipy’minen’s caution. A ship like her had not lived as long as she had without becoming wise. The ships appeared to be in a defensive formation around the planet. Hopefully, they would be in range to transmit their hailing message before these Mandalorians decided to attack.
::To the Supreme Overlords of your people; greetings! I am Suus of the domain Shul, humble Intendant and Commander of Ipy’minen. We seek to parlay, resupply and continue our quest, without battle. We anticipate your eager compliance soon. May the gods look upon you with favour.::
The message was intended to be as non-confrontation as a Yuuzhan Vong could be. Suus was proud of his efforts to reach out to the infidels.. er, a thousand pardons Yun'shuno, the other races of the galaxy in his best galactic standard. He hoped that they understood that they meant no harm.

::To the Supreme Overlords of your people; greetings! I am Suus of the domain Shul, humble Intendant and Commander of Ipy’minen. We seek to parlay, resupply and continue our quest, without battle. We anticipate your eager compliance soon. May the gods look upon you with favour.:: Aboard the Brightflame, a Keldabe-class vessel in orbit above the city the class of ship had been named for, the Brightflame's comm officer's eyes went wide as saucers. Being of Mon Calamari extraction, that was some feat. Gathering herself, she called out to the Commodore.Ma'am. Incoming transmission. Appears to be Yuuzhan Vong in origin.Commodore Kryze cut off her conversation with the ensign she'd been speaking with, turned, and came over to Aihda's station. It can't be. Where's it coming from? Reaching the station she looked over the data. According to the reading it was coming from a ship, just a single vessel, but inside the Mandalore system.No. She breathed, still unable to believe it. The Yuuzhan Vong, here. Mandalore had been visited by the Yuuzhan Vong before, and it wasn't an experience any people would care to repeat. She knew she had to confirm something of this magnitude before she raised a general alarm, but she wasn't going to do nothing, either. We need to confirm this. Mark the location for our fighters to check it out. Kryze reached across the lieutenant commander and pressed a key to open a channel to the hangar deck. Squadron. Scramble. Those two words sent adrenaline rushing through the veins of the dozen bes'uliik pilots who heard them. In less than a minute, the entire squadron had space beneath them, moving away from the formation at high speed.Twelve sleek black bes'uliik fighters of Clan Australis raced out of Mandalore's gravity well, outbound at their best speed to get a look at the inbound ship.Kryze also sent a coded warning to Kaine and the other command level officers of the Clan, including the offworld bases. She could go clan-wide with this, Kaine would expect her to. That way if it was a false alarm there was no need to bother the other Clans. Australis prided itself on not only providing timely information, but accurate information.Outbound at their maximum speed, the twelve fighters would soon be approaching close enough to the Yuuzhan Vong vessel to get a proper sensor reading. Each pilot was professional, focused on his task, though the fact they might soon be engaging with the hated enemy was in the back of each of their minds. The bes'uliik fighter had come online after the great war with the extragalactic invaders, and each pilot was interested to see how it stood up against the vaunted coralskipper. Assuming the vongese hadn't come up with anything new, not something they were known for, this time it would be the Mandalorians flying the unfamiliar craft, knowing what the Yuuzhan Vong Yorik-et was capable of, and the crab boys not knowing what the Mandos' shiny new toys could do.

The Ipy’minen glacially drifted toward Mandalore, her dovin basals devouring the space around them and smoothly maneuvering the Suuv Ban K’rid at a fraction of her potential. She was impatient to be underway. It had been weeks since they had last made planetfall and she was hungry for more than reclaimed, re-enriched waste. Suus too was wearing from the waiting. They were undertaking a new mission, unlike anything they had done before and he was anxious to start. Ipy’minen’te Maw Luur gurgled again and Suus felt her impatience mirror his own, albeit for different reasons.
“No word from the planet?”
“None, Lord Commander.”
“Curses! Making scabs of their maggots, are they?”
The bridge laughed, a harsh grating sound, muffled by their cognition hoods.
“Lord Commander! Crafts approaching our fore, four, no twelve Yorik’et-class at frontal breach speed. Their Yaret’kor’te are hot.”
“It would appear that they chose to walk the path of Yun’Harla and use the time we have wasted to warm their cannons. Heat the Yaret’kor and alert our pilots to attend to their Yorik’et!”
Ipy’minen already knew what needed doing. The beast’s bowels rumbled as molten magma rolled into the cannon arrays that lined her. Her ventral flaps arched gently, allowing the coral skipper’s noses to edge out before spitting them out into space, deploying all forty of them within moments, allowing them to swarm away, into holding formation over the Suuv Ban K’rid and clustering their shield over the cruiser.
The Ipy’minen began sliding backward, her Dovin Basals clustered to protect her bows and allow her to exit. Incidentally, also disrupting the space around the ship and effectively jamming any sensors in the area and interdicting the nearby space lanes.
::Once again, we… eager compliance… our mission… may the gods…::

The Fighters - Approaching Ipy'minen
The squadron leader of the flight of bes'uliike brought his formation directly in at the cruiser-analog. On his display, the ship's silhouette resolved just briefly before his display went insane, with contacts all over, then none, then all over again. He swore in disgust and hit his comm on the squadron frequency, knowing the fleet would be monitoring.
They've got some sort of jamming. Craft is definitely Yuuzhan Vong, cruiser size.
Outside, he saw the telltale specks separate from the larger craft and appended his statement. They've deployed coralskippers. Get the word out. We're going in. Squadron, on me. We'll hit the big ship then split by wingpairs. FOR MANDALORE!
Following his own command, he threw his fighter into a looping roll to avoid any incoming fire and jinked left and right to make targeting as difficult as possible. The other eleven pilots did their best to match the maneuver. Each pilot targeted manually and launched a pair of concussion missiles at the cruiser, twelve pairs of exhaust streaked away, even as six pairs of fighters broke in a different vector away from the launch point and made to engage the coralskippers.
Twenty four concussion missiles each bored in on a manually targeted trajectory aimed at twelve different points along the cruiser-analog's hull spaced from bow to stern.
The Fleet - Mandalore's Orbit
On the bridge of Brightflame, Commodore Kryze had ordered the comm feed from the squadron put on the overhead.
"Get the word out. We're going in. Squadron, on me. We'll hit the big ship then split by wingpairs. FOR MANDALORE!"
With that, the Commodore's doubts were erased. War, it was. Kryze signalled the overhead feed to be cut and turned to her adjutant. Her voice was as grim as her crew had ever heard it.
Initiate the Borleias protocol. Despite the gravity of the order, the adjutant didn't hesitate and fairly ran to his console and began sending transmissions to every Clan and outpost of the Mandalorian Assembly. The Yuuzhan Vong had come again. Kryze turned to the bridge crew. The ship had gone to Red Alert at the order of her XO, saving Kryze the time wasted in giving that order. Set a course out of the gravity well. Plot a fleet microjump to the intruder's vector, optimum screen formation please. Doomhammer is to hold position.
That order would have the six Lancer frigates arrayed in front of the two Keldabe battleships on the outbound vector, allowing them to protect the larger vessels from starfighters with their combined fire. The single battleship left behind was to defend the world in case this was just the opening feint in a larger assault.
With the ships on high alert, the eight vessels powered out of the gravity well of the planet, and by the time they were clear, the navigation staff had calculated the microjump to the Yuuzhan Vong's position. They would emerge within seconds, just outside weapons range of the enemy ship. As soon as the ships were clear of Mandalore's mass shadow, all eight jumped to hyperspace for the instant it would take to transit to the outer system.
They emerged as they had entered, six frigates arrayed in two rows above and below each other in front of the two larger ships. With shields up and weapons powered, they moved in toward the enemy.

Admiral Auxitius watched from the bridge of his Kandosii-type Dreadnaught as the skirmish between the Yuuzhan Vong cruiser and the Clan Australis forces began. He had missed the Yuuzhan Vong's grand invasion of the galaxy. But he had read of it. Glorious war had been waged by both sides. But the invaders had been defeated, and pushed back. Nought had been heard from them since. Until now that was. And Auxitius was eager to see how their organic ships fared. That was, until the image of Damocles materialized upon the bridge two feet from where he stood "Auxitius, report at once! What is going on up there?" He sighed. He was certain this was not going to end with him getting to happily watch this fight unfold "It appears battle has been joined between a lone Yuuzhan Vong cruiser analogue, and the fleet left by Clan Australis..."
"On whose orders? The last transmission I received was the Yuuzhan Vong seeking parlay, permission to resupply, and continue on their way..."
"Australis sent starfighter forces to scout it out. Perhaps the Yuuzhan Vong got spooked by the mechanical menaces, as they view them... or so I have read..." Damocles sighed. Of all the things he had on his plate, he did not need a war sparked between two sides by people getting spooked. He looked down at a display, before returning his attention to Auxitius "Monitor the battle. I want to know what moves the Yuuzhan Vong make..."
"Very well Mand'alor..." Damocles closed the line to Auxitius. Before opening a line to Kryze Australis, the woman he understood to be in charge of the Australis forces "Kryze, I ask that you stand down... if not, try and keep some of them alive. People are hard to question when they're dead ner'vod..."

==MandalMotor Shipyards SL== <106 PP; O7 Sector, Mandalore>
Coming in from opposite side of the system from the small skirmish, the cluster of Imperium ships were not in any danger. They did, however keep a careful eye on their sensors to ensure the fight wouldn't head their way. The small fleet was an even dozen of the humongous factory template Lucrehulks. Each had the manufacturing capabilities of a massive industrial complex, with the added benefit of being able to move to where they were need. Following these were another five Lucrehulks, though these were the basic cargo templates. Like all Imperium Lucrehulks, all seventeen of the ships lacked the central sphere module. Flying in formation about the Bulk Haulers, 10 of the Crusader Corvettes provided the defense for the convoy. The original plan for them had been as gifts & sales to various clans in system to help build ties & help improve those same clans. But on arriving, they were rerouted to the growing shipyard area. More cargo ships were already in route with additional resources, but the few they they had with them would make a good start.

On board the Ipy’minen, there was little time for meditation or thought as the enemy fighters approached. Jun An, High Priest of Yun-Harla, knew it was his place to seek insight, from the Yun’o and shape those around him in the True Form. He twisted his limbs into ritual positions of pain, the scraping agony of ligaments and burn of muscles blanked out his fear and worries, hollowed out his mind and sense of self. Into the vacuum formed through pain, Yun-Harla’te wisdom and cunning flowed.
He spoke, his voice harsh but clear and precise.
“Though others may deal us treachery, Yun’Harla’te trickery is greater yet. The Yun’o have formed us, And granted us the form to defend our lives, As holy and gifted by Yun-Yuuzhan.”
The bridge of the Ipy’minen was silent, hanging upon his words. They had all vowed to seek the True Form and to bring its truths to the rest of the galaxy. Fundamentally, this respect for life meant that killing any other life was abhorrent. After all, once dead, a creature could no longer aspire to reach their full potential and the escalation granted by the gods. This one was a broken form, a life wasted. Only in preserving and escalating living beings could the escalation of the Yun’o and, in turn, the Yuuzhan Vong, occur.
However, in a hostile galaxy, their small numbers had to be protected when peace was not an option. Jun An must prepare his people for battle once more, and beg the Yun’o for pardon. Jun An intensified his torments, and cried out his petition in a voice hoarse with anguish:
“Yun-Harla grant us cunning, To outwit those who seek us harm. Yun-Shuno, grant us pardon, Should we take a life. Harm not our Forms, Curse us not with their blood. Yun’o, Great Ones, Shards of Yun-Yuuzhan, Preserve your faithful ones alive.”

There was an unspoken assent of all those serving aboard the Ipy’minen. The fighters would be soon within range and the battle would commence. Suus would not deny to himself that he enjoyed the thrill of combat, the struggle for dominance, but now it was tempered with a newfound respect for life, his own and that of other forms of life. Through Ipy’minen, he could see the fighters and he looked at these, no longer as infidels, but as those that had not yet realized their calling, had yet to aspire to their full potential or seek the True Form.
However, their righteous quest would not be stopped, not by indifference nor by weapons. They were fully authorized to strike down those who would dare to attack them - such was the way of the gods, the galaxy and, therefore, the Yuuzhan Vong. Now, though, he must be even more cunning than in former wars - he must seek to keep his crew alive, while minimizing the number of attackers he destroyed. Suus couldn’t help but relish the new challenge. There was a pleasing...efficiency in preserving life that simply destroying it had lacked.
Suus touched Ipy’minen’te mind, and that of the others also linked to her, listening as they described how the fighters approached, the missiles arcing toward them, where they anticipated they would hit and Suus showed her what he willed and she complied. The Suuv Ban D’Krid backed away from the system, the polarity of the dovin basal reversing to push her away from the planet and oncoming fighters. Her Yaret’Kor cannons swelled with molten slag before spewing the fiery rocks forth. Simultaneously, the coralskippers fired their cannons. As the balls of magma entered the gravity rip generated by the dovin basals, they were ejected by the gravity wave and spread in a rapidly expanding cone directly in front of Ipy’minen. The cannons fired again and again, forming a tsunami of flaming debris between Ipy’minen and trajectories of the missiles and the fighters.
Some missiles exploded in the unexpected meteor shower, while the rest closed the distance, exhaust trails receding then vanishing completely. The Suuv Ban D’Krid continued to retreat, with its guardian coralskippers swarming over it. It would seem that the dovin basals had swallowed the missiles whole and crusier had thankfully escaped completely unmolested from the attack.
Suddenly, there was a flash as an explosion appeared amidships, coral fragments blossoming into space. Liquids trailed and froze immediately, streaming in the cruiser’s wake. Few of the coralskippers broke off and landed on the cruiser, shielding the breach directly with their dovin basals and were clearly attempting to staunch the wound.
“We have restored atmosphere to the spiral valve and shapers have been dispatched, Lord Commander. She will still fight and the Yun’o have been merciful.”
Suus growled in affirmation. He had come to the similar conclusion as his helmsman, and he felt her raw wounds, the girdle of tissues and bands of muscles torn, ripped with hundreds of fragments and perforated as the concussive impact ruptured capillaries. The ship stank of burning skin.
“Villip commander, I pray you have found a vector…”
“More ships approaching, in a headlong strike formation! Our cone of fire will engulf their ships...”
“I pray you have found us an exit vector!”
“Indeed. She will be able to make a brief step before returning.”
Thank the gods for small mercies...

Mandalore's Orbit
Rocketing up from Keldabe, a single black bes'uliik fairly shot up into space. Directly past the Doomhammer hanging above Keldabe, the fighter bore outward, exhaust flaming, to the edge of the atmosphere, the planet's gravity well, and into deep space. Towards the battle.
Aboard the fighter were General Kaine Australis himself, and Sidara Vercopa, his newest drinking companion. General Kaine had recieved word of the Vongese incursion, and having lived through the invasion of the Yuuzhan Vong as a teenager, he intended to be part of the welcoming committee for their return.
The Battle - Outer System
The unorthdox tactic by the Yuuzhan Vong vessel took the Mandalorian forces by surprise. They'd been expecting return fire, but the gravity whip effect hurling the molten projectiles away from the big ship was an unexpected nasty shock.
Of the twelve bes'uliik fighters, three were hit, one exploded as it was blasted from the sky, the others sent tumbling away trailing smoke, out of control, too damaged to fight. The fighters were as tough as Mandalore could build, but far from invulnerable. The remaining eight undamaged fighters pressed home their attack on the escorting coralskippers, spraying blasterfire and their remaining missiles at targets of opportunity. The fighter battle raged around the retreating Yuuzhan Vong cruiser, the remaining Mandalorian pilots taking care to keep well clear of the cone of doom.
Commodore Kryze copied the transmission from the Mand'alor himself even as her fleet elements engaged the enemy. It overrode Kaine's orders, but the Mand'alor was allowed to do that, especially here around the Homeworld. She sent a quick acknowledgement to Damocles, as she modified her plan slightly to account for the new orders.
As the capital ships of Clan Australis entered weapons range, they began taking shield impacts from the molten debris spewing from the Yuuzhan Vong cruiser.
Lancers to the flanks and engage skips. Shadowblade is to put everything she has into the cruiser's outbound vector, let's discourage them from running. All batteries, bear on their stern. Fire at will.
The six Lancer frigates broke to port and starboard, leaving a clear line of fire for the two Keldabe battleships. Each frigate's 20 quad-laser turrets began targeting coralskippers, efficiently blanketing the sky around each one, the tactic intended to overwhelm each fighter's dovin basals. To port, Shadowblade's twenty five turbolasers opened up ahead of the Yuuzhan Vong's bow, pouring out a torrent of turbolaser cannon fire that would intersect the Yuuzhan Vong cruiser if it continued on its present course. To starboard, Brightflame opened up with her armaments directly toward the Vong vessel's stern.
It was well known among the people of the galaxy that Yuuzhan Vong ships propulsion and defence were both handled by the creatures they called Dovin Basals. Massive extragalactic invasions that caused the deaths of trillions lived long in the memory, after all. In fighting the Vongese, the Mandos knew that if you made them protect themselves, they weren't able to run away. And they could be exhausted given enough work to do. Kryze aimed to tire the vessel's defences to the point she couldn't protect herself, and the choice was surrender or die.
To that effect, the Commodore sent a transmission to the Yuuzhan Vong.
Yuuzhan Vong vessel, you have violated Mandalorian space. You will halt your vessel and prepare to be boarded. This is your final warning. Surrender now, or be destroyed. Out the bridge viewport, she watched the shield impacts of the incoming fire contrast with the bright flashes of outgoing turbolaser fire from the big ships.
Both the Mandalorian vessels were twice the size of the Vong cruiser analog, and Commodore Kryze didn't expect the enemy to last long under the pounding she was receiving. She added an extra element to the battle, which she hoped would make her point to the enemy about leaving.
Engage tractor beams. Both Keldabes' five powerful tractor beams lanced out to hold the Yuuzhan Vong vessel. Kryze was unsure how the tractor beams would interact with the Dovin Basals' gravitic effect, but she was interested to find out. Even if they were only partially effective, that would be enough. If the enemy didn't surrender, they'd be annihilated in short order.

Ipy’minenHer entry vector had been unassuming, far from the planet and its traffic and now it had become the scene of a pitched battle, littered with the fragmenting carcasses of destroyed fighters and battle debris. The unassuming Yuuzhan Vong cruiser, and its escort was faced with overwhelming odds as the Mandalorians masses their defenses. Within the Ipy’minen, the Yuuzhan Vong tenders fought desperately to pump glyhircc on the dovin basal arrays to keep them alert and moving smoothly, muscles burning and labouring to breathe through their gnulliths, in the darkness generated by the singularities that ripped away any nearby light. The team of shapers had reached the wound, where the concussion missile gored the ship. They cut away chunks of burnt skin and gelatinous slabs of meat, rolling out new sheets of fibers that melded on touch against the ruptures and sealed the weeping tubes shut. Grayish tissues began to turn red again. The magma cannons had shifted away from blanket fire and were now acting as a point defense system, working in tandem with the dovin basals to deflect the brunt of the firepower directed at the ship. Ipy’minen’s craggy krahtine outer and rostrum was becoming progressively more pitted and burnt by the sheer volume of turbolaser fire. Suus’ consciousness melded with his crew mates, seeing the carnage being repaired, the other tender’s fevered labours and the Yorik’kor gunners keeping the heated rock smoothly blasting at their threats. Ipy’minen masterfully guided each their personal battles, each becoming a seamless part of her operation, in step with her mind, marching to the beat of her immense heart. How long could they manage to keep her enemies at bay? The preparations to escape to hyperspace were nearly complete but what of their mission? Had he mistaken Yun’Harla’te injunction? Suus mulled these questions as he unconsciously rolled a blaze bug between his fingers, it’s hot abdomen scalding his fingertips in a pleasantly distracting way. His transmitter villip contorted to replace his face, that had been repeating his message, to an approximation of Commodore Kryze red-eyed visage: Yuuzhan Vong vessel, you have violated Mandalorian space. You will halt your vessel and prepare to be boarded. This is your final warning. Surrender now, or be destroyed. Forefinger skin melted. Was this the answer that he sought? “Halt!” Suus commanded and the Ipy’minen reluctantly slowed to a crawl. She knew already what he intended to do and the Suuv Ban D’krid was having none of it. The old war charger had tried not to strike up an engagement but now that it had kicked off, and the enemy was coming at her thick and fast, she intended to give it as good as she got it. “What are you doing, Lord Commander? We must run or fight, but to show our belly spells death! Let us break through their ranks and board their ships - allow me to lead the charge. We have offered our sacrifice for their lives and now we will make them pay!”Ah, Viez Kwaad, an intendant that knew followed the law and missed the spirit. Suus would have dearly loved to use the opportunity to point out there was no shame in sparing life, even though it stuck in the throat to do so, especially an old foe. “Silence, Viez of domain Kwaad! Prepare the villip. Now hear this::: To the Supreme Overlords of the Man-da-lor’o: we accept your petition and will extend an immediate cease-fire. We will discuss the terms aboard our the Ipy’minen with your commander. ::Ipy’minen shuddered as the tractor beams locked on, bringing her to dead stop. The low-powered dovin basals did not have the power to interfere with the tractor beams, but now allowed them to transmit their surrender clearly to all in the system.

MandalMotors Shipyards - Under Construction - Mandalore's Orbit Several transports gathered in orbit, towing the initial heart of the yards with them. It was essentially a tiny station capable of maintaining an orbit, with areas for construction to begin branching out from. It took a little bit, but the heart was placed. The workers started exiting the transports and unloading supplies to begin work on the yards Work continued apace on the ambitious expansion of MandalMotors' shipyards. From a steady stream of transports coming in from hyperspace came the materials to expand the early construction efforts. From the surface, shuttles brought the personnel and droids that would build and run the yards.Long, girder-like sectons began to be welded into place, as a docking ring was built above the initial station. Completed by moving pre-built sections into place and assembling them, then securing them into a single structure, the finished ring would allow up to ten heavy transports or capital size vessels to dock simultaneously. This would allow the pace of construction to increase, and continue to provide a useful docking area for MandalArms once construction was complete. From the contributions of Clan Australis, several heavy transports at a time were docked with the station, leaving plenty of spaces free for other traffic.
Below the original station, box-like hab blocks were maneuvered into place and assembled into a cube shaped structure containing housing for a couple thousand workers, as well as basic amenities. This meant that the yards' workforce could begin moving in. Slowly, the hab blocks filled up with MandalMotors construction crews. Again, once construction was complete, the hab blocks would house MandalMotors' staff. With the addition of a large docking ring, and the first set of habitation blocks, the Yards now had the potential to grow further outwards, and maintain its own workforce in orbit, increasing efficiency by no longer having to transport workers to and from the surface, or from other vessels. The tiny original station was still incorporated into the Yards' superstructure in such a way that the yards could still be expanded in many directions without interfering with the added construction. The Battle - Outer System The entire bridge crew on Brightflame heard the Yuuzhan Vong's response.:: To the Supreme Overlords of the Man-da-lor’o: we accept your petition and will extend an immediate cease-fire. We will discuss the terms aboard our the Ipy’minen with your commander. :: Commodore Auriana Kryze's response was as instant as that of her comm chief, not needing a verbal order to broadcast on an open channel. We accept your terms. Remain in position and await his arrival. Even though he'd be advised against it, and she'd protest vehemently, as would the other senior commanders, Kryze knew there was no force in the galaxy that would keep Kaine Australis from dealing with the Yuuzhan Vong personally. All Clan forces cease fire and remain in covering position. Kryze added an addendum, knowing the Yuuzhan Vong could hear her too. If they move to escape, or fire so much as a single cannon, take them down. Outside, space returned to blackness as the bright flashes of turbolaser fire died away, and the marauding starfighters ceased their deadly dance and broke away from the Yuuzhan Vong cruiser analog. The remaining eight bes'uliik fighters kept clear of the enemy, but circled in case they were needed further. Three rescue craft launched from Shadowblade to rescue the downed bes'uliik fighters and their stranded pilots, taking advantage of the cease-fire. The two battleships remained in position, covering the halted cruiser, and holding her in their tractor beams. The six frigates stacked to either side, out of the way, but able to cover them from coralskipper attack.Kryze took a moment to consider the options available to her. She knew Kaine was on his way, and he'd want to lead the boarding parties personally. She'd get him as much support as she could, seeing as how the foolish man was going to go aboard despite anything she would say. Kryze would make him as safe as she could, and he could hardly protest extra security when Yuuzhan Vong were involved. Further to this, she contacted the ship's barracks.Captain Bronzi. I want a dozen of your tra'kad boarding craft ready to go in ten minutes. Down in the bowels of the ship where the scruffbag commandos liked to lurk, Captain Bronzi's squads all got to their feet at an order from their Captain. Bronzi let the bridge know they'd be ready.Ready to ramble in ten, Commodore.Kryze's response was predictably icy. This will be a professional operation, Captain Bronzi, not some disorganized and undisciplined ramble. Is that clear?Bronzi's contrite response was almost believable. Understood, Commodore. We'll get it done.In Brightflame's hangar, techs began preparing the twelve modified tra'kad craft. These were of a type that had been modified with a dozen plasma jets around the airlock cradle. The jets allowed the craft to essentially 'weld' itself to an enemy ship's hull and make a seal. It made the craft useless for space combat or any other task, but they were a sturdy and effective way to get troops aboard an enemy ship. In minutes, Captain Bronzi Australis had his troops assembled in the main hangar. He addressed them. What is this?A professional job! The troops responded in ritual unison. What isn't this?A fug fingered ramble!Who we doin this for?FOR MANDALORE! They all roared, and boarded their tra'kad craft. Twelve tra'kads with ten men each, 120 commandos wasn't a lot for a cruiser this size, but it was enough to keep the General relatively safe once he arrived to take charge. The dozen craft launched one by one from Brightflame's hangar. This was the most dangerous part of the op. The craft were lumbering and vulnerable, with very little maneuverability. If the Yuuzhan Vong wanted to blast them out of the sky, they wouldn't have a chance.General Kaine was on his way to personally meet these Yuuzhan Vong that had so boldly entered Mandalorian space.

Aboard the Ipy’minenThe villip that had been modified to receive non-standard messages relayed Commodore Kryze’s message carefully, exaggerating each word, as if the biot was unsure if it had relayed the message clearly: We accept your terms. Remain in position and await his arrival... All Clan forces cease fire and remain in covering position... If they move to escape, or fire so much as a single cannon, take them down. “They will use your opening to destroy this mission!” Viez Kwaad cast an accusing finger at the tactical display, showing the Mandalorian vessels enfolding the craft. “We will not be allowed to continue - they will kill us or incarcerate us to discover our secrets.”The host of Intendants and workers aboard the Ipy’minen were swarming around and through the command center, busily repairing the myriad microfractures or preparing their battle kits, listening as the worst case was being spelled out. This mission was the first of the ships to leave Zonama Sekot and the first in the long history of the Yuuzhan Vong to attempt anything as ambitious as this. “Are you afraid, Viez? Yes, they might kill us. Worse, they may try to imprison us. We all knew that this could happen. What else can we expect when trying to land upon an alien planet without killing them first? As long as these creatures are alive, they are a danger to us, as is natural. They do not understand the Form, so they cannot welcome it. The only way to the Form is through pain, and so pain we will suffer - either in bearing with these unformed ones in peace, or receiving pain at their hands. In either case, the Form will be realised.”
“However, your warning is battle-wise. We will not meet them unprepared.”Suus let the words settle in and summoned the villip to respond. :: As the Yun’o will - we will receive your party. Marking your approach path now. :: The Suuv Ban D’krid began to rotate along its x-axis, raising its bow and dipping its stern, even though multiple tractor beams had locked on to her. Dovin basals dilated, the cruiser’s muscles rhythmically rippling. An opening presented itself to the boarding craft at the edge of the Ipy’minen. A pair of antennas telescoped, shifting through multiple hues to attract the attention of the landing craft and directed them to them to an approach to Ipy’minen’s cloaca.
