As the glass turbolift continued its rapid ascent towards the office area, Aderon noticed the smile form on Ifrit’s lips out of the corner of his eye. Indeed, Aderon kee that Ifrit would, at the very least, somewhat appreciate the work that had been put into the surprise he had in store for him. It would be a great addition to the Dark Jedi Order’s power in this section of the galaxy, which could prove important, given the reports of increased First Order activity around the Core and Inner Rim.
Mentally, he hesitated briefly at the mention of Mariah’s praise of his achievements, though his command over the Force his this fact away very well, even from the senses of one as powerful as The Fallen. It was true that his interaction with Mariah had been, for the most part, a positive thing, as he was assigned the very task that resulted in his appointment as Cardinal. Indeed, a large part of his success was thanks to the relative amount of trust that had been put in him by the woman, and he would not soon forget it. Even so, though, impressment was certainly not what he expected, and as a result, it did cause some slight bit of hesitation. Even so, though, it was not as though this would be unaffected. A Midnight Cardinal, especially one like Dooku, could prove incredibly useful to one such as Mariah, especially considering her relative lack of the social skills that being an empress unfortunately required. Such decorum was the hallmark of one like Count Dooku, and as such, was rather useful. Even so, though, for her to specifically praise him out of earshot was quite interesting indeed, making a mental note of this fact, he answered the query placed before him.
“Is that so? I am flattered, in that case. Our last interaction proved to be quite productive, especially in isolating and.... taking a potential risk to the security of the Order off the playing field...”

Location: Outside of Iziz.
The ground forces of the Graceful Savior landed outside of the capital city of Iziz. With a liberation force that included, 80 Low Altitude Assault Transports, 48 All-Terrain Tactical Enforcers, 36 Self Propelled Heavy Artillery units and 16,000 troops. Mark had linked up with the liberation force while still in orbit, Mark and his soldiers were setting up a staging area on the outskirts of the city. He knew that it was only a matter of time before, the Dread King's forces exited the city and engaged them. Mark had a feeling that victory would come at a cost, what that cost was he couldn't say, but he did know that Onderon wouldn't be the same.
Hours later.
Hours had passed and the staging area was completely set up. Mark walked through the staging area and made sure that everything was ready to start their liberation campaign against the Dread King. Mark then signaled the liberation force to start moving on the city, he had also made it known that the troops were to limit the collateral damage to enemy controlled buildings and that their was to be no civilian deaths as they were here to save the lives of their fellow Onderonians.

Location: Iziz's entrance.
Weeks had passed since they had first landed and Captain Chandler and his liberation force had yet to bust into the city's walls. It had been a hard few weeks of none stop battling. The Dread Loyalists were dug in something fierce and the liberators couldn't bust open the wall, which was a good thing and a bad thing at the same time. It was good because it meant that the wall was doing what it was designed to do, but it was bad because if they can't get through the wall then many innocent Onderonian lives were at stake. It was while Mark was thinking of these things that they had a break through, the liberators had managed to blast their way into the city. Mark let sigh of relief out when he saw that they were making head way. Now all they had to do was march into the city and head for the Dread Palace.

In fact, making mention of Mariah's praise was part of a test to see how Aderon would react. Though the context that the comments were made in were far less favorable for Ifrit. Though any hint of that conversation and the events surrounding it never existed. The matter had been dealt with and the spy rooted outSo I have heard... Admittedly, we have you to thank for the addition of a new member. Had you not rooted out that spy and forced her to flee to her master, we might never have found Elniri upon Ruusan... Now, Aderon, what is it that you wish to show me?

The matalok hovered above the forests and terrain below, a half dozen kilometers up, training its sensor biots below. It was looking for something, a rather large something. While it was scanning, Esthh took the time to take a transport to Iziz to find some other creatures that might easily be had.
The matalok continued to scan and sent out its squadrons of coralskippers in efforts to find the large creature that they were hunting. Not being completely free of violent aerial predators the squadrons were ordered to stick with their squadron as they swept out looking for the large beasts. Six hours later the transport returned to deliver Esthh’s purchases, and then an hour later repeated the process. There were three finds on the first day, there was only so much hiding such massive beasts could do, but there was only so much food to go around. Esthh ordered the ship to move towards the nearest beast as a squadron of coralskippers were outfitted with sampling biots on the ends of their arrest tentacles. Esthh only wanted one live creature, they were too large unless he could get the young, but it was little more than that that was needed. He decided to go after the hragscythe in the morning when they could see better and the pilots and crew were rested.
As the sun came up the matalok moved over the nearest hragscythe and started lowering itself towards the beast. Coralskippers took off, one squadron trailing blorash jelly containers as the other two squadrons took off after the other two known beasts.
The coralskipper squadron started by buzzing the massive three headed beast to get its attention, and then flew slower, but higher, letting the blorash jelly containers dangle within striking distance of the beasts long neck and heads. It didn’t take much encouragement to get the apex predator to bite, quickly finding its heads and mouths suddenly enveloped, inside and out by blroash jelly. The creature let out a strangled roar as its mouths were sealed shut, and thrashed back and forth as the coralskippers wiped around and made passes to smash the blorash jelly containers that they were carrying against the beasts legs. The matalok moved lower within easy reach as the blorash jelly quickly worked to begin slowing and immobilizing the creature, before reaching down with its arrest tentacles and wrapping the beast up. The ship lowered itself down until the beast was completely wrapped up and immobilized by the strong arrest tentacles. Shapers took a blast boulder out to begin administering sedatives to the massive creature, start taking samples, and started vacuum proof biot on the creature to start growing and enveloping the creature for its journey.
The other two coralskipper squadrons flew above the jungle, tracking down their targets, zipping in fast and low while a partner flew higher and kept overwatch, directing and counting down the position of the creature. The coralskipper targeting the hragscythe zipped over the top of the creature, its arrest tentacles stabbing out to take samples on the fly, yanking out tubes full of tissue and blood as they zipped out of range. The beasts roared as the coralskippers flew away to look for more targets. This day was just a dna gathering trip, unless they could capture a young creature, or found eggs, if the creatures laid eggs. As it turned out the coralskippers found five more hragscythe, all adults, but it was enough, combined with the other samples that Esthh had already acquired, that the shapers were pleased. At the end of the day the creature was completely covered in its vacuum proof container, with special gnulliths to keep it alive, and the matalok climbed with it attached, and moved into the cold of space, leaving the planet behind.

Day One Hundred and Fifteen since the arrival of Katorri Heavy Brigade...A handful of Imperial Dropship Transports trailed behind a recent run by a squadron of V-19 Torrents, supporting the present battle between Royalists and Rebels. As the IDTs hovered over the advancing brigade below, their doors opened, allowing several DT-series sentry droids to drop down a short distance between the shuttle and the ground. One of them went up in flames as rocket soared from the opposite side, slamming into the cockpit. However, this was after the IDT deployed its cargo of three Imperial sentry droids. Raising their E-11 rifle arms, the sentry droids joined the advancing line of green-armored soldiers, blasting one of the E-Web positions before it could light up their advance.
The center of the defensive trenches had been broken through and the rebel forces were tenaciously holding on. Within sight was the Shatoon Monastery, one of the last strong defensive points of the army supporting the contending claimant, Prince Rolim, head of a cousin branch to the royal family. Behind the heavy brigade, royalist troops of King Xel and his Queen, Haera, advanced along the flanks and following the tip of the spear that was these mercenaries. For what was worth, the Katorri hired guns knew they were worth their weight in gold compared to these lax royalists troops. Only a few of their commanders and units were truly respected for their ability and experience.
At the head of this tip, an orange lightsaber whirled through the air, cutting off the tips of blasters and through the flesh of rebels. This was what the regiment and their commanders lived for: true grit and grind of battle. Not skirmishes, not standing guard, not being escorts. The true experience of war that had long benefited them and their pockets. The lightsaber whirled once more, spinning as it reflected blaster bolts before the Force reached out, causing one of the soldiers to fly forward to be stabbed by the orange blade. Around this individual stood five others, dressed in black and red garbs. Their own orange lightsabers humming among the din of battle.
The vulture-faced leader, a mask of true terror, pointed.Forward! Forward! Today we take the monastery! Tomorrow, Prince Rolim's head! And more so, their pay and earned spoils. A topic that no one wanted to discuss with their Commandant.

Two Days after the Sack of Shatoon Monastery...
Imperial warships in orbit?
The words were repeated, not through a mask, but a bearded face, white haired from age, but still in his prime.
=Juurra= Indeed. Arripio-class Star Destroyer and a formation of nearly thirty vessels. Who knows how many starfighters and troops as well as any reinforcements on the way. I moved the fleet to the dark side of the planet and kept well out of their weapon's range.
The holoimage of his fleet commander, the Hutt who lost to him in Sabacc, stood before the Dark Jedi in all his corpulent glory. His skill as a ship captain had never been in question, given his fast reaction. Marsenus was glad to have an attentive mind and person commanding his small fleet that had been painstakingly put together through sheer luck and immense funds from their contracts. So the fleet was safe, but the presence of Imperial ships was alarming... the First Order was extending its influence into this sector was news to him.
Either the rebel prince called in some favors... or our present employer doesn't plan to pay us in full.
Marsenus was already quite upset with how the royal troops were doing their best to make off with the loot of the monastery and ensuring his brigade, which broke through the final lines of defense, were kept out of the way and on 'standby' orders. The Dark Jedi was brooding deeply and did not like how this was happening. An Imperial Fleet, an employer who'd rather hoard gold and treasures than keep his word, not to say the rebel prince was any better. He was a tyrant versus his cousin who was lavish and lax.
Keep an eye on the Imperials. And keep your distance.
The orders were given and the transmission ended. Marsenus sighs lightly, stroking his beard before looking outside his temporary command post.
Things were about to get very interesting it seemed.

Not long after landing craft and fighters issued forth from the fleet. The main body of troops was being sent to Iziz, while the smaller contingent that Zariel would be joining once Lotus arrived, headed into the jungle to establish a small covert meeting location. The "Peace Keeping" Taskforce under Lusani Miz's command set down outside of Iziz fortifications and as out of range of the cities defenses as possible. While troops were disembarking and vehicles were deployed within sight of the planets capital, Zariel sent out a transmission on all open local frequencies. People of Onderon, the First Order has seen your plight. In the interest of preventing the spreading of this Chaos, a Peace Keeping taskforce is being deployed to your capital. I will myself arrive shortly to assist in a peaceful and mutually beneficial transfer of power. The Imperial troopers are your friends and allies, and I encourage you to not interfere in their peacekeeping duties. Thank you, people of Onderon, and Long Live the Empire! Zariel had dropped her usual cold and emotionless facade for the address, allowing herself to emote more and try and sell the "benevolent" mission that she and her forces were here to perform. Truly she didn't care if the powers that be on this planet would come together or not. Ultimately her troops would easily occupy the capital with likely little meaningful resistance from the locals who had been infighting for nearly half a year. The only thing Zariel was truly curious about was this mercenary company. Her people were already working to identify the signatures of the ships, but it would take time. Perhaps these mercenaries could be bought, so long as they didn't possess any of that annoying honor the Mandalorian's were constantly going on about.

Back at the Shatoon Monastery's outskirts, Marsenus gritted his teeth as him and his commanders listened to the transmission from the arriving Imperials. Peacekeeping force they proclaimed themselves to be... and yet they had landed directly within the vicinity and reach of the capital. Evidence enough to the Dark Jedi that his employer had likely been the one to contact these newcomers. Lazy prick... likely got a good deal to not only end the war on his terms but perhaps a clause to backstab the Katorri Heavy Brigade mercenaries and their leader. As the transmission was repeated, there was already a murmur among his lead officers, wondering what was the next step. They still had orders to eventually march upon Kira Fortress alongside the Royal Army in order to end this war. And yet, could Marsenus trust the Royal forces with the sudden arrival of this Imperial army? He always felt he couldn't trust them anyways cause they were just men and women in pretty uniforms, hardy a true fighting unit.
Walking out of his tent, the Dark Jedi looked out at his own regiment before further out towards the royal encampment where the sounds of feasting and celebration could be heard. The third day in a row in fact. As if the war was over and they had done all the work themselves. And yet they were the support, they flooded breaches made by his troops and then exploited the advantage, ensuring they took the full surplus of the loot. His own men had received just a trickle of what was promised. The thought of which made him grip his lightsaber firmly. One of his Dark Jedi commanders, a man named Graccus, came up to him from the same tent. The long time comrade noticed the gaze of Marsenus.Graccus... tell the commanders tonight. They should be drunk enough after this third day. Hardly in fighting shape.Graccus turns to Marsenus and then nods his head. Things were finally coming to a head and Lord Carrion was getting fed up. If these supposed allies of theirs were backtalking, backstabbing, and hoarding like any royal tended to do, Marsenus would make sure to charge through the door and make them understand the error of their ways.

Deep in the jungles in a make shift clearing that was currently devoid of life after the bombing runs and flame troopers were deployed, landing alongside the other landing craft, the Mephistopheles arrived. The Grand Inquisitor strode down the landing ramp, holding a briefcase that rattled with the sound of hundreds of credit chits. She wouldn't have to wait long, as Lotus' own personal craft was landing as well, kicking up dust and ash. Zariel had intended to betray and dispose of Lotus once and for all here, but with the presence of this unexpected third party on planet, Zariel thought it perhaps best not to have three potential enemies to fight for control of Oderon.

Lotus smiled widely as they proceeded down the ramp of their yacht. Arms held wide open, as if they expected Zariel to come running in for a hug. They of course knew Zariel would never do such a thing, but liked to tease the always dour Grand Inquisitor. Behind Lotus were two of her strongest crew, carrying a large crate, the very thing that had brought the pair together again after so so long. I see you have the money! So, why don't you just toss it over here and we can be on our way!

There was a roar of vehicles approaching where Lotus had landed. The orbiting fleet, belonging to Marsenus, monitored where she had gone as that would likely mean that whoever else had just intruded upon the planet would be there as well. A platoon of 125-Z Treadspeeder Bikes, one of which was piloted by Marsenus, drove over from their war camp, deciding to invite themselves than to expect an invitation. The treadspeeders roared into view, ripping up the ground before congregating just off the point where Zariel and Lotus were meeting. The Carrion Lord didn't come unprepared as a handful of his best men, both Dark Jedi and soldiers, came too. They kept to the bikes though as the masked commander got off his treadspeeder.
However, instead of approaching, he decided to kick back and watch. His vulture-like mask eyeing the two of them. Not that he trusted either as Lotus looked out for herself, as to be expected, while this new individual, this Zariel, was an Imperial. She had backing, good backing, prominent backing... her pockets would be deep.

As Zariel moved to toss the credits over and be done with this unpleasant business, the comlinks buzzed to life. It seemed a platoon of speeders from an unidentified faction were fast approaching. While Zariel maintained an air of unphased disinterest, her annoyance was piqued. She and her guard turned to face the direction where the man in the vulture-like mask. As it seemed this transaction would have an audience, Zariel decided to hurry it along and slung the credit laden case toward Lotus. While waiting for the pirate to transfer the goods to Zariel's men, the Inquisitor kept her eye on the new comer. Into the comlink she gave the order that if they were to step any closer unbidden, then they should be shot down immediately.

Lotus smiled as it became clear who the new arrival was. They gave an enthusiastic wave toward their occasional business partner but more often rival. The smile only grew as a huge amount of credits almost literally flew into their arms. After taking a quick peek inside the case to confirm it was in fact credits and not skulls or something (you never knew with Zariel). Next the mercenary signaled to the crew carrying the crate. The crewmen crossed the no-man's-land between the two forces and set their burden down before the Inquisitor before retreating back to their side. Well... If you are satisfied, it looks like my next client has arrived to peruse some of my other items on offer.

Marsenus simply watched quietly, observing from where he stood. Eventually, one of his commanders came and stood beside him, the long-time right hand, Gracchus, who observed the trade between this Imperial Inquisitor and Lotus. It was Gracchus who spoke first.
=Gracchus= How long you think she has this sort of connection?
Marsenus glanced at Gracchus through his mask.
Several years I suspect. Lotus has a way of knowing the underworld and getting in touch with all manner of people.
Question really was why the Imperial Inquisitor had come here. Why did she interrupt a civil war that was profitable for him and his mercenaries and instated martial law and imposed security through her forces? Why come to this planet? Marsenus grits his teeth slightly, beneath his beard, beneath his mask. All of this could potentially ruin his opportunities.
Blasted Imperials... she better not be staying for long.
Marsenus mutters as he sees Lotus concluding business with Zariel

Zariel turned away from Marsenus and his squad, leaving her own guards to watch the two separate mercenary groups. As she moved over to the crate she mused why they had come here? The capital was being secured as they stood in this clearing, so if they were here to protect this world, they were doing a poor job. Zariel could taste the darkness radiating off of the masked leader from here, it was more akin to hers than to Lotus. The differences between a true feline predator rather than some rabid and uncontrollable beast. The crate was locked. Zariel sighed and rolled her eyes, one more prank from Lotus who no doubt had the galaxies biggest shit-eating grin at the Inquisitor's first attempt to open the crate and inspect the merchandise. Not wanting to give Lotus the satisfaction of asking for the code to unlock the box, Zariel called the lightsaber at her side to her hand and in one swift slash, activated its blood red blade to cut the locking mechanism in two. It swung open and revealed to her exactly what she had hopped to see. She motioned for a pair of guards to take it aboard her own craft. I am satisfied. But I do think I will stay and witness your next transaction. Fair is fair after all, he did get to witness our business. This was a test, to see if Lotus was intending to sell this man secrets about Zariel or not. The answer was one of great interest to the Inquisitor.

Lotus had indeed been smiling smugly as Zariel attempted the locked crate. They almost made a comment about charging extra for the damages to the crate, but decided against it, as Zariel was already fuming. Instead they just smiled in response to Zariel's declaration that she would be sticking around and then turned again to the birdbrain watching from a distance and very animatedly began to wave for Marsenus to come join them in the clearing proper. Go get the samples from the hold. Lotus commanded one of her companions who disappeared back aboard the ship where waited Lotus' main source of income.

Through his mask, Marsenus gave a sharp whistle before holding out his hand as a soldier came up with a box. Credits that he had pulled from their funding to pay for the slaves if they proved worth his time. The Dark Jedi proceeded to look down at the bronze, silver, and gold Imperial Credits, only currency right now that was worth its weight in pay. Marsenus handed the box to Gracchus as he waited for the samples to be brought forth. When they did, the Dark Jedi began to look among the handful with Lotus. He grabbed their arms, punched their chests, gave cold hard stares, the routine repeating itself as he went down the line of captured individuals.
Your wares seem a lot less than usual... someone giving you trouble these days, Lotus?
Marsenus remarks as his carrion mask looks at the Near-Human female.

Zariel watched closely as Marsenus approached. She studied his movements, his posture, everything. He was human, or near enough, and had a presence of command about him that only came from a long and successful career of leading soldiers. The Inquisitor could taste the darkside radiating from the man, he was strong. Likely a match for Lotus, but if he could match the Grand Inquisitor... the was the question. It was the only question that mattered to Zariel upon meeting a new Force Sensitive. How much of a threat did they pose to her or the Empire. Based on what had been observed from the size of his fleet, he didn't command many men, but they were disappliened. And it was impressive to see that some of those very people may have been earlier acquisitions from the Zeltron slaver. Perhaps there could be a use for someone like this. If he truly was a mercenary, then she just needed to make a better offer. And ISB had funding to spare for "security contractors." But for now Zariel continued to observe the interaction.

Lotus had the stock lined up, slaves from across the galaxy. Some bought from the markets, some traded, and others simply taken from their beds in the night. The Zeltron pouted as Ol' Bird Face found the current selection wanting. The pirate walked around and mock acted faint, catching themselves on Marsenus. Oh! You old buzzard! You wouldn't believe the trouble I go through anymore. The Civil War has everyone on edge, it's so much harder to sneak up on an unsuspecting village anymore! They dropped the faint act and quickly pressed themselves up against the old mercenary, leaning in and whispering in his ear as their Zeltron pheromones went into full blast. I'm sure if they won't do for combat, some of your people could use... comfort and entertainment. The pirate leaned back out, though now had their arms hugging his left. Hells, I've seen you turn farmers into commandos in no time, whaddaya say? Give 'um a chance? Lotus didn't know if the puppy dog act would work, but if it didn't it would annoy both Marsenus and Zariel, and that was a for sure a win in their books.
