Since comm signals outgoing from the planet were jammed (especially the mines, since it was the main target) only the subspace communication went through. And that wasnt friendly either. A mans voice, a mans who sounded irritated and filled with hybris. A man who had a thausand better things to do then talk with anyone calling him right now.
-Admiral Blackadder- What is it?

Geor-Dan-Lor spoke back to the admiral with his usual warm Tiss'Shar nature. But, his voice was slightly confident that the message was sent out to the Hoth Cartel on Tatooine or even on its relay base on Hoth. For where the cartel got its name. And, as an added bonus, the Hoth cartel was one of the founding criminal organizations of the Exchange. Which means Kessel's space mine was an Exchange asset which could bring on the attackers, the Blood Rage Pirates and the Death Watch.
However for this time around, the Tiss'Shar was ordered to keep the mines at all costs.

Hearing the horrible hissing, the Admiral whinced and changed channel.
-E. Blackadder- General Malchett, this one is yours.
With that, the admiral was out of this mess which aspired to become moderately horrible. The Victory I Class and the Acclamator closed in on the mines escorted by two Ardents. The next voice on the channel was that of someone very confident in their abbilities and vocal cords. The man SOUNDED to have a bushy moustage, big nose and red cheeks. Or at least this was the kind of person you imagined hearing when he started yelling into the comm.
-General Malchett- THIS IS GENERAL MALCHETT WHO THE HECK ARE YOU AND WHAT DO YOU REPRESENT?
The screaming was justified by the ammount of mechanised infantry that was about to invade the mine site in the background Aboard the Acclamator.

The Tiss'Shar hissed at the yelling.
We represent a business of sorts, this is a cartel operation. I am sure you have heard of the Hoth Cartel?
The Tiss'Shar kept a bit of the truth away from the one who he was speaking with. The cartel was really a member of the Exchange. A rich and powerful criminal syndicate with the Hoth Cartel as the primary group within it.
However, this was Ex's venture and he placed it under cartel directives. Albeit, giving the name away was not part of protocol. But, Geor-Dan-Lor was banking on the notoriety of the cartel.
This operation could not fall into the wrong hands.

*Ships still were closing in.*
-Gen. Malchett- Oh, heck yeah jellybeans, I heard of the Hutt Cartell. Do you think I am stupid?
Usually, people asking that question were kinda... stupid. Lets see if that was the case here.
-Gen. Malchett- Well, mr Hoth Cartel. If you would be so nice as to get your people out in whatever you call a courtyard or a mess hall, I would love to chat some about the Hutt Cartel and boloball and whatever else you want to chat about. Without weapons... chat is not so fun with weapons.

The Tiss'shar hissed back sharply.
That'ssss Hothsss Cartelsss. Orss bettersss knownsss asss thess Exchangesss.
Geor-Dan-Lor was not dumb, instead he was smart. He graduated top of his class in intergalatic business but chose a life of crime instead. The Exchange and the Hoth Cartel and its countless other groups claiming allegiance to it were growing. And, that's where business was good and so enters Geor-Dan-Lor into it all.
The Tiss'Shar hissed back at his two top officers and makes his way with them to the main entrance. The mines were to be staged as a last resort hold out.

-Gen Malchett- Now son, you better decide if you are Hutt Cartell with a lisp, or Exchange with lovehandles? No matter, ETA is about two minutes.
As all imperials, he was right on time. The moment the ships landed and the ramps were halfway down, the A5 juggernoughts were rolling out with their compliments of AT-type walkers and AAT tanks. In two minutes, the entire mineing colony if it can be called was surrounded with one column going to the source of the comm transmissions from Geor-DanLor. When the three A5s drove up to the main mines entrence, with a LAAT above to make sure nothing bad happens, and its doors opened, first you would see the verpine in their minimal clothing and armour. This enviroment was no different from their homeworlds, so they were the perfect coice for this. The only one who looked a wee bit different was the General himself, a man with red cheeks and bushy moustache, clothed in formal space-ware. He was imperial, they could look formal in underware if they wanted. Besides the General was a twilek female slave. The slaves collar was well visible through the visor of her spacewalker outfit, and was also armed with an E-11 blaster and a katana-like vibroblade. She seemed to stand a bit behind the general.
The general walked up to the main entrence, and buzzed in. He was one of those "Do it yourself"- generals in some situations (like, when he had three A5 Juggernought loads of friendly verpine drone soldiers, a Banshee, a LAAT in the sky and orbital bombardment support around him). He buzzed, and used the intercomm button.
-General Malchett- "Little Pig Little Pig, open up, or I will huff and puff and blow your house down."

The takeover of the Kessel mind went without incident. The defenders soon understood how overwhelmed they were when they saw the slim and fast Verpine with their horrid shatter rifles, and saw the huge hulking gamorreans in power armours and full plates. The ringleaders of the Exchange were rounded up while workers and craftsmen were locked up. The ringleaders got an old ship that was docking in one of the hangars, enough food and fuel to reach a civilised star system, and was bid adieu.
In the coming weeks, Juvexian craftsmen and entrepeneurs were flown in, people working for the company. All of them once went through the same screening and same talks with supposedly the same Patrick Bateman, CEO of Juvex Imports Exports. They all agreed to registration and the secret infrared tatoo. They were corporate hotshots now. The other kind of people flown in were branded with real tattoos, wore not suits or hardhats but chains, and were paid in food just enough to keep them working. In two weeks, Kessel mine turned into a concentration camp, a ghulag. Just as it was meant to be. They were registered as employees, all of them, with real pay and real benefits, witch all went to different bank accounts, from where money was syphoned back to the Company. Juvex Import Exports. Incredible ammounts of profit and tax money went back to Juvex.
And the spice?
Oh..... it was mined. Mined like it was never mined before.
It was under these two weeks that the Inner, one of the two Herkeles-class Escape Corvettes landed on kessel, The Nightsisters named Atia stepped out with her retune of Banshee slaves, and went down into the depths.
-------------------------------------
One day, a little one man asteroid rover was roving over the dunes and craters of Kessel. In it, after "volunteering" to a "special mission", sat Captain Percy Kevin Darling. He was very nervous, and jumpy, because he knew he was on his way into a minefield, heading towards the mandalorian encampment armed with nothing but a sidearm and a white flag.

The research station had been on alert for nearly two weeks now. In orbit above a Rapid Response Fleet was waiting. The station & the Fleet had managed to get into contact with each other, but little info had passed either way. As of yet the invaders had made no move against either the Fleet in orbit or the station on the ground. But with research on hold until things were more clear, if wouldn't stay that way for long before the MMC stepped in, in force.
One of the sentries spotted a lone figure crossing the minefield waving a white flag. Sending out a pair of guards to collect the figure before he blew himself up, the security control room deactivated kept a nice tight circle of deactivated mines around the guards. The circle was too small for a vehicle to fit safely, & the guards made sure to pass over enough sensors that any attempts at hidden figures would be revealed. Once through the minefield, the guards quickly stripped him of everything he had, scanned him to an extreme degree & handed over a pair of worker's coveralls before ushering him into one of the meeting rooms.

Percy Kevin Darling was not a strong man. He wasnt even a real soldier. He was a graduate, who went to military school, learned a lot of red tape and fancy strategies and learned the command lines. He was smart enough to command a ship and could act courageous. When the REAL soldiers came about, he was a wreack surrendering at once and going through the entire thing with a scarred face. THis didnt mean that he couldnt keep himself together when they well headed back, but this again fully marked his weak little soul to Admiral Blackadders joy.
And to say the truth, he kinda fancied himself to be rather dashing in those workers coveralls.

Inside the meeting room was a man who was apparently in charge of the research station. The the only thing that denoted this fact on the coveralls that were otherwise identical to the ones the newcomer was wearing was the name patch that said "Martin Grey" with "Kessel Research Station Director" directly below it.
-Martin I assume that you are here as a negotiator of some sort. I also assume that it took which ever group you represent the last two weeks to solidify your hold on this world.

Well, no. Captain Darling was sent here to state that they wanted to negotiate. Yes, this is a rather illogical statement in a world where entire star systems could communicate with eachother electronically, but... Darling faced the facts. His commander didnt like him much. In turn, Darling didnt like the commander, and the only way to resist was to actually DO negotiate. With no actual Empire behind them, there was no threat of court marshalling for disobeying orders. They were after all as the Admiral many times told with large ammounts of melancholy and irony in his voice: Pirates.
-Captain Darling- "Yes. I am Captain Percy Kevin Darling, captain of the Percy I. I am here on behalf of Both the Glass Eye fleet, and Juvex Import Exports. We wish to come to a... understanding."

-Martin Martin Grey, Station Directer. To be honest, I can't say that I'm familiar with either of the groups you listed. But that isn't too surprising as the galaxy is a large place. Care to describe the scale of these organizations? Regional? Sector-wide? Several sectors? Quadrant wide? It would be rude of me to offer you anything beneath your time, but it would also be foolish to bother with too large of an offer.
In truth, the names were being checked against the station's own stored records. However with the communications black-out unless their was a history of operations in this sector, they probably wouldn't be listed.

No history of neither in this sector.
-Cpt Darling- "Juvex import export is a transport company. We operate in many sectors, but have not yet entered the Hutts own untill now. It is a respected and legit company with large profit marginals and morals. Our action against the mines were sanctioned by Juvexian Law, Basic Human Rights section Fifteen to twenty seven. In short, slavery is against our doctrine, and we decided to end Kessels suffering once and for all and give these people a chance to make a life for themselves as free men and women.
The Glass Eye fleet is more known though. Battled many battles, including mandalorians over the planet of Duro, successfully I might ad.
Well, thats that. Who do you represent?"

At this Martin had to deeply suppress the urge to pinch the bridge of his nose. Basically, from what he heard it was a shipping company either equal or smaller than Blue Shift Transportation, with a private military company of unknown size backing it up. In other words it was a low end major power that had unknowingly just pissed in the soup of a moderate major power. For a moment he could only look at the other man. The discrete notice he got that said neither had any history in the region finally got him to respond.
-Martin This stations is under the domain of the MandalMine Collective. Your superiors either knew who we are, or are cautious enough not to attack an unknown enemy. That is something you should be very thankful for as The Admiral is not a very forgiving sort. From what I have heard, the last group that attacked a MMC station was a group of pirates. Every member was put to death. The leaders were flayed alive & hung up in display in their home towns.

MandalMine. Intresting. While Darling kinda spoke to save his life, his head was spinning with possibilities. What kind of bonuses could he get from the company if he manadged to strike a deal with the MMC? A LOT was the answer.
-Darling- "Oh, you dont know our supperiors. They are rather reckless and whatnot. Mainly because pirates are small fish for them. They hunt sith as a hobby you see.
Well then, your dick is large, so is mine, and crossing them would not fit my sexuality, so how about we put them away, huh? I only have one final question. This is kessel. It has mines, but it is not MandalMines that harvest its resources. Why?"

-Martin Not too practiced at negotiations are you? In short, MMC stays within the laws of the region when it operates there. Sure the spice has a high profit margin, but most of the places it could be sold it is illegal to do so. Additionally, many see anyone connected to the spice trade as being less than desirable. It was decided that the profits gained would not be worth the potential losses in other sectors. The planet did, however, did have some interesting ruins that were suited to long term research & study. MMC bought a research contract for some minor university on He takes a moment to check his data pad Decallis. Basically they fund a good bit of the research & in return they get a copy of the data & the first chance to buy anything we might decide to sell from the dig at a discount. MMC on the other hand gets the small but present chance of discovering some lost ancient super tech or something else of worth, while someone else foots most of the bill.
That was the official story. The official story was true. It was not, however, the whole truth. The second part of the operation here was to discretely transport the spice off the planet to another group somewhere else. They didn't bother with trouble of refining or the risk of actually selling the product, but they got a healthy (if under the table) sum of money for each shipment. The best part was that the region of space they took the spice through, it was legal to do so, so they weren't even breaking any local laws either.

-Darling- "Back in the day, we had a nice little diplomatics corps doing these talks, you see. I am more of a down to dirt kinda captain.
So, I guess you have a nice little operation going down here with over the top security for just a couple little ruins. Cute. Lets say I buy that. You do your digging, and we do ours. We dont need to ever meet, now do we? Like two neighbors that work in different shifts. It didnt bother you at all that under your feet dirty slavers were running a ghoulag, mining spice?"
Said the helper of dirty slavers.

-Martin Frankly? No, it doesn't. Mandalorians are a practical people. While not all of the employees that work for the company are Mando, it was founded by Mandos, the guidelines are Mando, & a fair number of the higher-ups are Mando. It is understood that other feel that the spice is worth the effort. We also know that all attempts at mechanizing the mining process have failed completely. We are nearly half way across the galaxy from the sectors directly under MMC domain. It would be pointless to get involved in what is primarily a local issue. Even if that wasn't the case, it is not seen as distinctly wrong by Mandos to own slaves. Some do, some don't.
Martin was trying to decide whether to seize control of the 'negotiation'. On one hand, the other man was shedding an impressive amount of light on the stance of an otherwise unknown group. On the other hand, they had gotten a little sidetracked fairly early & showed no signs of swing back to terms. He decided to let it play out a little longer, just in case the other man was setting something up. After all, if this one proved unfavourable, they could always kill him & then say that he tried to take one of the guard's weapons.

Martin had no idea how unbelievable that notion would be, if he knew Percy Kevin Darling. Darling was never a true fighter. And yes, he was setting something up.
-Darling- "That is intresting to hear. So, what you are saying is that you are more then capable of taking care of small attacks like pirate raids and the such, you have nothing against spice trade, and you happen to have military power. Well, that sounds like a good deal to me,
You Have a sizable fleet, and I am sure it has enourmous costs to uphold. I am ready to give you fifteen percent of the anual income that the mines are producing in exchange for privacy, protection, and maybe a little bit of that mandalorian tahiir or what that drinks name is. To sweeten the deal, we will make MMC the primary importer of our needed mining hardware.
Do you believe that deal would go home well with your superiors?"
