Anya watched as the Field Marshall made his approach, the entourage of soldiers following just behind. Sure, they might have needed to ensure he was safe considering she could have been anybody, but so many in front of their own home? It didn’t seem necessary. Still, her attention did turn towards the two that stood out from the rest. Different than the Knights of Ren or the Imperial Knights by what she could tell, it made her wonder just what all had changed since her departure.
Her attention didn’t stay fixed upon then long as she heard an unexpected statement. Fixing her gaze upon the man, she watched as he and the troopers turned to let her through. No "follow me" or "this way." It took her moment before she finally gave a nod and made her way forward into the building.

A Upsilon-class Command Shuttle glided down through the air, its wings shifting into a landing position as the craft drew closer to the Landing Platform area. It was a day like almost any other, as the Shuttle touched down and its ramp descended. Allowing Harnan Ren to disembark. His black armoured visage almost immediately recognizable by anyone that might happen to be there. While a lot had changed about his temperament where it concerned Nicademus, he still hated these visits to Muunilinst. This place was a constant reminder of everything he had lost and that had happened.
As he strode across the landing platform area, something caught his attention. Causing him to take a moment of pause as he looked at who he was pretty sure was Faina Delvardus , Grand Master of the Imperial Knights and Empress of the First Order

As he strode across the landing platform area, something caught his attention. Causing him to take a moment of pause as he looked at who he was pretty sure was Faina Delvardus , Grand Master of the Imperial Knights and Empress of the First Order Faina begins walking towards Harnan even before she is consciously aware of having made the decision to do so, holding up a hand and telling Voshkie and Nechama, who had taken it upon themselves to act as her personal guard after she had been appointed Grandmaster of the Imperial Knights, to stay where they are rather than follow her in a tone that makes it clear she is giving them an order rather than making a request.
Had she not spent the majority of the day touring the vessel she will be commanding to meet with her bridge crew as well as with Konrad Garver, the retired First Order admiral that she and Nicademus selected to educate her in the art of commanding the Victory II-class Star Destroyer that will be the flagship for the restored Crimson Command, Faina doubts her path would have ever crossed with Harnan's save for if he is present at the meeting with the Knights of Ren Nicademus has planned; and had she not been made aware of the complicated relationship the Knight of Ren had with Nicademus and Illaria, Faina does not imagine that she would have any reason to try and speak with Harnan now. As she closes the distance between her and Harnan, who has no doubt noted her approach, Faina cautions herself not to get her hopes up for anything to come of speaking with Harnan, should he deign to speak with her at all, and reminds herself that it is possible she will only be wasting her time, there being no guarantee that Harnan's ties to Nicademus and, almost certainly more importantly, Illaria will have engendered any sense of concern for Fiora's well being within Harnan.
Once she has come near enough to Harnan to be heard, Faina stops and lifts her hands in front of her to demonstrate they are empty to illustrate that her intent is not to engage in any kind of conflict, verbal or otherwise, as, not one to mince or waste words, she gets right down to what she has come to find out and simply asks in her customarily dry way, her tone as devoid of affect as her stoic expression, "What are the chances you and I can set aside our titles and affiliations for now and just talk like two people who are both concerned about Fiora's wellbeing?"

Harnan had already come to a stop when he had seen Faina, and stood waiting when it became quite clear she was heading toward him. Unlike the Empress, Harnan had no lackey's or guards to call off. Instead, he stood with arms crossed as he waited for her to close the distance between them. Ever since the announcement several days earlier that Faina was to become Nicademus' next wife and Step-Mother to Fiora and Octavian, Harnan had suspected an encounter between them was bound to happen. While he had been pretty certain it would have been in the company of Nicademus and the other Ren, this one on one setting was going to be a much better situation.
Truth be told, Harnan was somewhat surprised she was even making her way toward him at all. Tales of his exploits and rather lacking respect for the Imperial Knights were as commonly known as the campaigns the First Order had waged. That was enough to give him pause to see where this conversation was going to go as Faina drew closer, her hands going up to show she was not about to try take him by surprise. His posture relaxing slightly then as he uncrossed his arms, showing that he was equally unarmed. Arguably though, it would be far more suicidal for him to attack and kill her, than it would be for her to do the same to him I think we both know our titles and affiliations are a little too ingrained in each of us for them to so easily be put aside... But assuming your concern is genuine, then perhaps yes, we can at least discuss the matter away from prying ears. Especially given everything that has been going on lately, it was a discussion bound to happen at some point... Might as well get it over with sooner rather than later... Let me guess, you're going to chastise me about the evils of the darkside and how we are all such lost causes? right?

The Epsilon shuttle had golden markings and a new crest, that of the First Order with the initials of the new agency emblazoned in gold in its center. When it landed a group of four Death Troopers exited the ship first, blasters always ready and communications scrambled. Then, was the turn of half a dozen stormtroopers, wearing pitch black armor with golden accents: they formed and lined the way into the hangar proper. Finally, Ju'oda, wearing a dark attire, martial but elegant, walked in, wearing a long cloak over the shoulder. He had the badge befitting a director displayed over his chest.

As it was the middle of winter on Muunilinst, snow and wind blew across the landing pad in equal measure, though in somewhat lesser quantities then as would constitute a full blown blizzard. This, combined with the massive arc lights of the enormous strategic complex, made the landing pad, and the path leading into the base clearly visible to the visitors, alongside a small group of around a dozen or so stormtroopers, arrayed in two parallel lines down the walkway from the landing platform, who had come to greet Moff Ju'oda, alongside one of Garrick's many diplomatic attaches, who was dressed, appropriately for the weather in this part of the planet, an Imperial Officer's Winter Uniform, complete with the dark grey helmet. The rank plaque of a Moff glistened in the faint winter sun, highlighted against the gunmetal colour of the uniform. As Ju'oda stepped off the craft, the attache made the traditional Imperial salute, then walked up to greet him properly."Welcome to Muunilinst, Moff Ju'oda. I am Moff Terex von Strengar, of Mygeeto, and Chief Economic Executive for this oversector. Welcome to Muunilinst, sir, we've been looking forward to having you here. The Grand Moff is waiting for you inside, if you could please follow me?He gestured for him to follow into the building, though as they walked down the path to the entrance, he remained silent. Evidently, Garrick wanted to be the one doing the talking.Upon reaching the door, he opened it, then gestured for him to follow him inside to the Grand Moff's Office.

As the transport carried Xoia to the Imperial Strategic Command, the woman sat in silence, watching the terrain pass by. She wondered just what this new assignment entailed. Once again it was one being given to her instead of getting the choice. However, it didn't bother her. Her time with the Noctis Deep Patrol Fleet had shown her that it didn't matter where one was stationed for all worked to serve the First Order with dedication and worked to be the best. She might not have been on the front lines in any of the major fleets but her skills were being put to the test just as much as the others. In fact, the more she thought about it, the more she realized that with the war over, even the most distinguished fleets, officers, and pilots were either sitting around doing nothing or quelling the random pirate raid. And at one point, it was her fleet mixed with a few other smaller patrol fleets that were called in to do the job of the "better" fleets because they were the least suspected. They all had proven they were just as capable and valued as those of the more well-known teams. That meant whatever her new task entailed, she would uphold it with the same pride and dedication she did everything else.
Not only that, but it allowed her to get back out there and away from her father. The longer she was away, the more she realized the truth about him. And with each revelation, she wanted less and less to do with his perceived legacy. If all went well, she'd be back to gather her things and gone before her father returned from his meeting. She could only hope to be rid of that condescending stare.
It was only when the transport came to a stop that she looked up. Gathering up her things, she departed the transport and stood before the building that towered before her. Once the home of the Emperor back when Muunilinst served as the capital of the First Order, it still stood with equal importance as it originally did, housing some of the most important figures and operations within the First Order and this sector of the galaxy. It was a bit surprising that she wasn't asked to come here. Whatever the reason, she had her destination.
Making her way through the main entryway, she looked around at the different landing platforms. Some were empty while others carried shuttles of varying types based on region or rank. None of which carried the older Lambda-class shuttle. She continued to walk before finally locating the sole ship near the end. Moving over to the crew that walked about the craft, running their inspections, she saluted before addressing them. It may not have been required to salute them, but she always did so as a means of respect to all who served the order. "Flight Lieutenant Xoia Reyes reporting for transport to Imperial High Command on Coruscant."
One of the crew stopped as she approached and returned the salute.
"You're just in time, Flight Lieutenant. We are finishing off a few checks. If you could make your way inside and get settled, we should be taking off within the next few minutes.
Giving a nod, she proceeded up the boarding ramp. Moving inside, she saw this wasn't a typical troop transport but one for carrying dignitaries and the like as it contained staterooms for individual members. Looking around, she saw no others on board suggesting that either this shuttle was specifically for her or they were waiting on the other passengers. Based on the pilot's words, the former seemed to be the reality. Entering one of the rooms, she made herself at home for the short trip.
As she was told, it was only a few minutes before she was alerted to readiness to take off, followed shortly by the movement of the craft. Taking a deep breath, she sat in mediation as prepped her mind for her new assignment as the shuttle pressed upwards into the sky.

Making its pass over the city of Harnaidan, the Lambda-class shuttle made its way towards the Imperial Strategic Command. Its path had been clear, making for a smooth and quick trip from orbit towards the landing area before them. Finding their designated landing zone, the shuttle touched down and the boarding ramp lowered as the systems began to power down, the pilots' current task now at an end.
Leaving her room, Xoia first made her way towards the cockpit as the co-pilot made his way out. "Thank you for the ride. Would it be too much trouble to ask to set up passage once more? I'll need to head to Foerost at the end of the week."
Listening to Xoia's words, the pilot stood at attention as he responded.
"There will be no need for that ma'am. Vice-Admiral Lurkan has already gotten in touch with us to ensure you get there when required. We will be here and waiting then."
Nodding, Xoia turned. "Thank you." With those final words, Xoia departed the shuttle, signaling for a transport that took her home. There was much to do and little time to prepare.

Reaching the landing area of the Imperial Strategic Command, Xoia moved down the walkway, her form tall and strong as she had freed herself of a burden that had been weighing on her for so many years. From here on, she was truly and fully living for herself and the duty she held herself to. She was now a captain in charge of a special unit. The name she would make for herself would be her own, completely severed from that of her father and that thought made her smile. She no longer lived under anyone's shadow and could now grow as she wished.
Reaching the zone that held the shuttle, the shuttle crew saluted her as approached them. Motioning for those helping her carry her things to load them aboard the shuttle. Her hands now clear once she set her bag down, she returned the salute. "I hope I'm not running behind. I ran into a small issue that needed to be dealt with before my departure.
"Not at all ma'am. We are just running over the final check again to make sure we are ready to go. If you wouldn't mind boarding, we can be on our way."
Xoia gave a nod of understanding as she turned and boarded the shuttle, moving a few things to her room as the crew loaded up and closed the ramp. It was barely a minute before the ship's engines came to life and the craft lifted off of the landing pad and began its ascent into orbit.

A military shuttle approaches a landing platform. Its wings gracefully lift and its landing legs deploy. Within moments it is on the ground and hissing machinery lowers the ramp.
Two individuals exit the shuttle. One was a smartly dressed man in his officer's best, the standard issue military grey of the imperial navy. On his breast sat no rank placard, and no insignia other than the First Order badge. Not so unusual for the I.I. Next to him, stood a man dressed peculiarly for the First Order. Perhaps in his mid 30s, this individual was dressed in black. His flowing hakama pants, his gi top, his obi around his waist, utility belt worn over the obi, and black shiny boots. The man's face was hidden by the billowy shroud that he wrapped himself in.
As odd as he seemed, any non-force user, or mentally untrained person awed by him, would quickly feel their memory of him dim and grow faint, as if everything about him was ordinary and forgettable. Though he stunk of death, no weak-minded staff would be able to recall this if asked for their impressions later.
The pair submitted to the various security checkpoints. The well trained troopers at these locations scanned them. Their clearance codes were called in and verified. Their security search revealed they were carrying sidearms and no explosives. Havok and Malice had the proper credentials to pass, and retain their weapons. According to their clearance and credentials, they were not visitors, but top echelon leadership.
The Two entered ImpCom, and made their way to Imperial Intelligence.

Havok and his staff left the I.I. Building. Major Sevet and Lomm headed towards the landing pad with the waiting VT-49. Admiral Malice and Captain Hyze headed towards the military shuttle that Havok and Malice arrived on. Havok entered a speeder that would take him to the Skyhook.
In short order the Iron Maiden II and the Military shuttle took off, steeply climbing out of the atmosphere and into space.

Sometime in the past. . .I think we both know our titles and affiliations are a little too ingrained in each of us for them to so easily be put aside... But assuming your concern is genuine, then perhaps yes, we can at least discuss the matter away from prying ears. Especially given everything that has been going on lately, it was a discussion bound to happen at some point... Might as well get it over with sooner rather than later... Let me guess, you're going to chastise me about the evils of the darkside and how we are all such lost causes? right? What little hope Faina had that the change in Harnan's posture - the uncrossing of his arms and slight relaxation in his posture seeming to suggest a willingness to, if not set aside at least reign in any of the overt hostility or disdain his well known opinion of the Imperial Knights might otherwise engender - gave rise to is quickly dampened when he speaks; though the tone of his voice is somewhat difficult to gauge accurately with how his helmet alters his voice, and without the cues being able to see his expression would provide, his choice of words alone gives Faina all the clues she needs to know that attempting to reach any degree of understanding with him will be difficult at best, and may simply be a fool's errand. Whether or not she is wasting her time, Faina's love for Fiora makes her determined to try all the same, and so she forges ahead with her decision.
While she has no helmet to conceal her expressions, and is accustomed to keeping her body language in mind at all times, which she knows can make her seem remote and dispassionate, Faina's overall demeanor gives little clue as to her thoughts or reactions as Harnan finishes speaking. Save for the small nod of her head to acknowledge Harnan's point that their respective positions and beliefs may prove difficult to entirely set aside, and an arching of her left eyebrow suggestive of incredulity when he questioned the sincerity of her concern for her daughter, Faina had otherwise kept her posture relaxed and her expression impassive. Whether the remark about her concern for Fiora had been intended as an insult or simply a verbal jab, Faina sees little point in protesting or attempting to verbally convince him of just how deep and unfeigned it truly is; the mere fact she has approached him, in her mind, evidence enough.
Though the undeniable and inevitable consequences of calling on the Dark Side of the Force play a part in Faina's decision to try and reach an understanding with Harnan, she knows that there would be little point in reproving him, and if she thought that all who call on it were lost causes she would have fought tooth and nail to prevent Fiora from having anything to do with the Knights of Ren; experience having taught her that there are always degrees to which individuals succumb to temptations and perils of making use of the Dark Side. Addressing Harnan's concern that she is here only to argue a point neither will ever agree upon, Faina replies simply and dryly, "No, and proving just how sincerely she means not to, immediately moves on by, allowing her expression to reveal her genuine curiosity and desire to understand his decision, and her tone of voice chosen carefully to make it clear the question is not meant as an insult to his abilities but rather an attempt to understand his motives, Why you, Harnan? Her tone making it evident that her use of his name is not meant to suggest a familiarity between them that does not exist, but to demonstrate her desire and willingness to set titles aside for now, she goes on, Why do you want to be the one to train Fiora?" Though she suspects that Harnan's reasons for being the one to train her daughter lay within his relationship with her birth mother, Faina cannot know that for certain, and hopes that, should he elect to answer the question without any more verbal jabs or dismissive quips, Harnan's answer could go a long way towards setting her mind at ease.

A Chance Meeting Some Time Ago...
While the Orders they served stood as seemingly polar opposites in ideology, the pair shared a lot in common. Both had their own methods by which they showed no emotion or clues by which others might manipulate them. They both stood as relative leaders and... icons, for lack of a better word. But most importantly, their fates were both currently intertwined with that of Fiora. For better or worse.
It was true enough his words had been intended to get a rise out of the woman. Nicademus had made him aware of the Empresses expected resistance and attempt at dissuasion. Somewhere deep down, a small part of him did wish that she had perhaps been more successful in her quest. But it was the smallest hope, for he knew Fiora's fate was unavoidable, and the Imperial Knights would never be able to truly grant her control, command, and understanding of her power that she needed. The, truth be told, he wasn't entirely sure he could do that himself.
Her next questions were not entirely unexpected. Many that did not know or understand Harnan had the same questions. He had asked the same question, lately just of himself, but to someone else once. His tone seemed to change, despite the electronic interference of his helmet's systems It's not so much about my choice to be the one to train her, it's about my duty and the oath I swore to her Mother... Not to mention the more important question: who else amongst the Ren could be trusted with her training? It was, perhaps, a rare moment of honesty and sincerity from Harnan as his previous annoyance fell away for the time

Not now, but then. . .
The faintest suggestion of a furrow appears between Faina's brow as Harnan cites duty and keeping an oath as the reasons he is to train Fiora, giving her pause in part because she would never have imagined either concept would mean anything at all to a Knight of Ren, and in part because both are so much a part of her own personal code that it almost seems as though his answer was constructed with that in mind. "You can answer that better than I can," Faina says evenly, primarily as a way to recover her equilibrium after Harnan's answer had, by accident or design, thrown her off balance. Faina recovers quickly enough, realizing that the idea that Harnan would be concerned enough about what she thinks to fabricate an answer that might make her feel more at ease about her daughter's safety and future seems patently absurd.
Accepting Harnan's motivation at face value, Faina considers pressing for more detail about the precise nature of his oath to Fiora's birth mother, but discards the notion as she imagines that the subject is a loaded one and trying to delve into it would be like deliberately walking blindfolded into a minefield. Briefly at a loss as to how to press onward, Faina wonders whether there is any need to do so at all; does she really think that Harnan, no matter how truthful he chooses to be, will be able to say anything that offers her any reassurance at all about Fiora's well-being? Even were Harnan able to set her at ease with her decision not to fight against the future Nicademus has chosen for their daughter to any degree, why would he? Faina could, rather than seek assurance, assure Harnan instead that should anything happen to her daughter she would move heaven and hell to make him pay, but the threat seems not only implicit, but also histrionic, a waste of both their time; and pointless, in Faina's mind considering that the danger that most concerns her is one that Fiora's training to become a Knight of Ren entails by its very nature. That thought leads Faina to her next question.
"What happens if Fiora fails? What if she isn't suitable Knight of Ren material because of something in her character, or because she rejects the teachings? Faina lifts a hand to prevent Harnan from protesting before she has the chance to prevent him from misunderstanding her, I've made an oath to Nicademus that I will not do anything to try and ensure that would happen; I won't teach Fiora anything, moral or otherwise, explicitly or implicitly, that would set a foundation you would not be able to build upon. And I will keep that oath," Faina says, electing to leave out the price she has paid, the difficulty she had in making that promise to Nicademus, and the frustration she feels by being bound to it when it involves not only sacrificing something integral to any parent's relationship with their child, and the consequences made possible by what she has agreed to accept, even though some or all of those things are evident in the unconscious clenching of her left fist and the equally unintentional, faint note of bitterness in her tone.

A Chance Meeting Some Time Ago...
Her response gave him all the information he needed as to what Nicademus had or had not shared with Faina regarding the Ren and what had happened out in the Unknown Regions. Or perhaps she had not yet pieced together everything. He studied her a moment. It might be a wasted effort to explain it, but he would at least provide her some more details Perhaps... You are aware of Kortos' death are you not? and the circumstances behind them? As much as I admire and care for my brothers and sisters amongst the Ren, they are all adherents of the Shadow that once ruled over us... A shadow that sought to manipulate and use us. His war with Illaria is why you sit the throne now as Empress. Soku, Neith, and the others... They all primarily trained and learned from him. His influence cannot be allowed to be upon Fiora. True enough, I bear the name Ren, but I merely joined them much after my training had completed with Zakuul... The next question she asked was something of a natural progression. He knew the answer that would have been given previously: that she would have been forced to comply and moulded into the blade the Ren needed. Harnan would have had no recourse but to follow and obey such orders. But things were different now. The one threat to Fiora and the hostage situation that would have been used against him had been resolved. Details that were not really of concern or need to be explained now Then she will be free to leave, if that is her choice. Fiora will decide her own fate, regardless of what either of us wants. The truth of the matter is that you, or Brock, or any of the other Imperial Knights could try interfere all you like. But the day will eventually arrive when I come to begin her training and offer her the choice to follow the path of the Ren, as her mother intended, or if she would rather choose a different path forward. If she agrees, I will do everything in my power to train her and prepare her for what is yet to come until she becomes a Knight or fails and wants to leave. I will not force anything upon ou... her child... He managed to barely catch himself. There was a great deal more at play here that Harnan knew, that he was not about to just let slip in front of Faina. He'd spent more time around those who could peel back the veil and peer through time than he cared to have. It was a curse to have such knowledge thrust upon you, knowing what did and will happen and being unable to prevent their current conclusions. He just had to try guide decisions and choices upon the paths with the best outcomes. A herculean task for someone such as himself all things considered

When then was now and now was yet to be. . .
There are times when those engaging in a conversation assume that those they are communicating with know more than they actually do, resulting in a distortion of the message being conveyed that alters the understanding taken from what is said, the alteration often one neither party is aware of. Unbeknownst to Faina or Harnan, their conversation now is one of those times. While Faina was made aware of the fact that Kortos and another Imperial Knight had assisted Harnan in killing the Shadow that once ruled over the Ren, ironically she is not aware of the precise nature of Kortos' sacrifice, nor of how knowing of it would not only help her to understand what Harnan is trying to tell her, but also how her understanding and assessment of Harnan would change as a result. What Faina takes away from Harnan's brief history lesson, therefore, is that he sees himself as less evil than the shadow had been, and had been so unwilling to allow that shadow to influence Fiora that he was willing to work with the Imperial Knights that he has made no secret of despising. What he says about being trained on or by the Zakuul makes little sense to Faina, as evidenced by her confused arching of an eyebrow, given that what she knows of Zakuul is little beyond the planet’s history, and has no way of knowing that Harnan had been a part of that history over three thousand years ago. Assuming that the training he refers to as military in nature, Faina takes from the statement that Harnan is telling her that he was not always a Knight of Ren, and therefore is not as corrupted by the Dark Side as his brothers and sisters; which does, in fact, make her reassess her understanding of who Harnan is, or at least sees himself as, to a degree.
Fortunately for both Faina and Harnan, what he says next invites no unintended misunderstanding. Faina's relief when Harnan states that it will be Fiora's choice to become a Ren, or to leave should she later fail or decide to part from their ranks for whatever reasons, is unmistakable from her expression and the way her posture, typically guarded and precisely controlled, relaxes. Her relief is so great, in fact, that Faina ignores the sting, intentional or not, the repeated emphasis on Illaria being Fiora's mother causes, and entirely misses the tiny slip of Harnan's tongue that accompanies the last such instance. While Faina is aware that the possibility exists that Harnan is lying, she once more discounts it as she cannot imagine any reason Harnan would lie to make her feel more comfortable with the inevitable.
Her relief and gratitude evident in her tone and expression, Faina says, "Thank you, Harnan, for telling me. It's . . . she smiles briefly and shakes her head as though in disbelief that some of her fears have been lessened, and waves hand searchingly as though unable to find the words to explain the cautious hope she feels for what lays ahead for Fiora now, or how to make him understand what he has given her by offering that sliver of hope and lessening of her fears to her. In the end she settles for simply repeating, Thank you, as she visibly collects and composes herself. As she is trying to think of how best to part ways, Faina recalls a certain phrase Harnan had used, and, aware she may be pressing her luck or trying his patience by pressing for more than she already has, tilts her head to the side inquisitively as she asks, You said you wanted to prepare Fiora for what is yet to come. Did you mean that in a general sense, or is there something more specific you meant?"

A Chance Meeting Some Time Ago...
Perhaps under different circumstances they might have been more friendly toward one another, and Harnan might have perhaps explained the exact nature of what happened to Kortos. He might have perhaps even explained in greater detail the oath he swore, or gone into greater detail as to the exact nature of his training. But such was not the case. Instead, she would need to, for the most part, question Nicademus for more details that he perhaps had not given her in the first place. Much as he despised Nicademus, especially because of what happened, there was at least some common ground upon which they agreed. And much like with Nicademus, such common ground would perhaps exist between himself and Faina.
Indeed, there was no real reason to lie to her about the future. In fact, it would have been more likely for him to lie to her and make her believe he would force a fate upon Fiora which she did not want, if only to panic Faina. But he was not that cruel, despite his hatred of the Imperial Knights. The truth was a much easier tale to tell, and he did not fancy driving Faina toward trying to kill him here and now. He had much yet that needed him alive.
He remained an impassive statue, as she thanked him and composed herself again. If nothing else, he has at least helped ensure she would keep to her oath and not try interfere with his own plans moving forward.
His gaze remained upon her, as she then sought clarification about the threat yet to come. He let out a barely audible sigh, such that his helmet did not pick it up. But the slight shift in his stance may have indicated that which she did not hear. Even were they friends, such a question was not one he would have been willing to provide too much detail about It is dangerous to peel back the veil of time and look upon what is yet to come... A great many possibilities lay before us, all of them as possible as the other to happen at this moment in time... My advice? don't worry too much about specifics. Just ensure you prepare Octavian to fight and control his powers, and he too will be ready...

Ren and Impy, long ago . . .
Faina suppresses the laugh she feels threatening to escape her lips when the subtle shifting in Harnan's position reveals that her guess about him nearing the limits of his patience with her was correct, though what he says next is frustratingly vague enough that any surprising amusement she felt is quickly quenched. Pragmatic by nature, Faina has never put much stock in prognostication, and on the rare occasions that circumstances have required her to dwell on the topic she has found the inherent paradoxes and uncertainties invited in so doing are headache inducing. Only the fact that the possible future events concern Fiora enable Faina to recall what she knows of prophecy, and she is silent a moment, her expression pensive, after Harnan finishes speaking. Harnan's suggestion that she not worry about specifics is a welcome one, Faina finds after she thinks about the well worn adage about how efforts to prevent a possible future can often, paradoxically, result in bringing it about, and she almost but not quite shakes her head as though to clear it from any of the confusing clutter that dwelling too long on the nature of divination of the future often incites.
"Sound advice, Faina finally says, her tone hinting at her frustration, once she has had enough of thinking about the nature of prophecy. Electing not to affirm that she will do all she can to see Octavian is trained and prepared for whatever future dangers, prophesied or otherwise, he might one day confront, which she would be doing even without Harnan's cryptic warning, Faina instead goes on, asking rhetorically, Can I assume you'll let me know if and when I need to worry, for Fiora's sake, not mine? Nodding as though he has agreed, Faina, deciding that it probably best that they leave on their present state of having come to a degree of understanding of one another that has probably exceeded both of their expectations, says, I think there's nothing left to say, for now. Unless there's anything you'd like to add, she arches an eyebrow inquisitively, I'll stop keeping you from whatever has brought you here."

A Chance Meeting Some Time Ago...
Harnn was certainly of the mind that he would have preferred to not have the knowledge that he did. But at the same time, he had long ago come to terms with his inability to change events yet to pass. Years living with a Seer had long ago taught him that, especially seeing her many failed attempts to try change the future. Thankfully, it seemed, Faina was happy to accept that she was better off not knowing too much. He inclines his head slightly to her question Ours will be the greatest burden to bear, when the time comes. Fair well, Empress... He gave another shallow incline of hi head, before moving around Faina and heading inside of the Imperial Headquarters to locate the meeting he was here to attend
