Hi guys I have just joined this board and have a few questions mostly regarding my character
I am making a young Sith descended from my character in Star Wars the Old Republic. My character is a part of Alderaanian noble House Kaiser (I was thinking of the head of the House being a duke) which supported the Sith Empire during its occupation and were a part of the Great Houses of Alderaan. Following the Republic's liberation of Alderaan from Sith Rule the members of House Kaiser were exiled however they continued to claim their previous titles. One member of the house at the time of the Civil War, Lord Xakire was a powerful Sith Lord and after his death a prophecy foretold that in X number of years the next First Born of the House will become a great Sith Lord and lead his house to greatness once more. The character I am making is this son and is named Xakire in honour of the original Lord Xakire. Then thousands of years later House Kaiser begins assembling a fleet of star ships many former Imperial Ships.
Anyway my questions so far are:
Were their titles such as Duke on Alderaan?
Is their anything wrong with my background so far?
Is their a plot summary somewhere on this board? (I'm guessing there probably is and its being right in front of me the whole time but I still cant find one)

First of all, Welcome to our little mad corner of the interwebs!
Now, to answer your questions. I am sure that there was a title of Duke on Alderaan, before it was turned to an asteroid belt by the Death Star, as there were too many ties to modern day monarchy with princesses, kings, counts, and the like populating the Aldera Royal Court. So I think you're safe there.
In regards to your background, I'd say it looks fine. Though being the lorewhore that I am, I tend to say go big or go home. lol
Anyways, as long as you take note that JvS is loosely set in the Legacy Era of the EU/Legends Star Wars timeline, you're golden to do whatever tickles your fancy.
Finally, the Plot summary. I can tell you right now that there isn't one - mostly because those of us that are vets have differing takes on what happened on the boards in both of our past incarnations that nothing ever really stuck. I can say however, that if you login in at the right time, and ask the right questions in CommChat, some of our more reminiscent members will pull out a chair and tell you stories beginning with "Back in my day..." (Myself included.)
Well, hopefully that helped. If you have any more questions, feel free to post them here so that others - whenever they feel like it - can chine in and say hello. Or, if you'd like, feel free to send me a message and I'll do my best to get back at you later on in the day.
Until then, Cheers & Beers!

Seems Darth "Bells" answered all your questions before I could, so other than buying you a drink at the Welcome Bar, I'm not sure what else I'd add except, well, welcome. To further reiterate his Plot Summary point, there is definitely no set site-wide plot. People here pretty much create their own thing, and that 'thing' usually stays within our own little RP bubbles, only affecting our characters and those groups we write with, should they choose to let it affect them. A lot of writers (myself included) have been here for a very long, long time, and we carry a lot of JvS history with us. So you do or be what you want, within reason of course, and when you find others to write with, talk to them Out Of Character about your background and what you'd like to accomplish, and that's how you find ways to make two (or more) very different story-lines work together. Your background looks great so far! But Belial made a good suggestion. Definitely check in with Chat! Sometimes it's dead, sometimes it's too busy to follow, but if you pop in at the right time, you'll get real-time answers. There are lots here who'd love to sit in their proverbial rocking chairs and tell you what's happened in the past here. Who knows, maybe you'll find further inspiration! Anyway, here if you need any further compass-spinnin'. Not that I know much about that Force stuff. But if you ever need somethin' smuggled, well... *winks* -Rana

I am working out what classes of ships I will have in my fleet and was wondering if I would be better of with 2 Victory II-Class Star Destroyers or 2 Harrower Class dreadnaughts? Also would 2 Terminus Class cruisers be weak considering how old they are?
Would a TIE Interceptor count as Light, Medium or Heavy Star fighters?

What most people do, in regards to old ships, is mention that they have been retrofitted and brought up to current technology standards to keep the playing field even should your character be caught in a skirmish with another writer.
As to the ships themselves, while it's not written anywhere people can see - I think the old ruling for what determines where a Starfighter belongs was does it have shields, projectile launchers, and etc. So a TIE Interceptor would be considered a Medium... I believe. If not, someone will correct that I'm sure. And for the choice of Victory II or Harrower, I'd say that's entirely up to you.
If you were going with the Terminus Destroyers, I'd say the Harrower's for a more thematic fit.

I think I will go for Refitted Terminus Destroyers and Harrowers because my character is supposed to be a descendant of my SWTOR character so it would be entirely plausible if my characters House knew how to build those ships.

Use the coding to put pics in your profile. I'd recommend having them be around 600 pixels wide at the maximum, as it tends to ruin the layout of your page if you go any higher.

Do the starfighters that are supposed to be carried by certain ships count towards the fleet point thingy?

Yes, they do. Ships do not get their starfighter compliments for free; you may either use points to include starfighters which you are welcome to have docked on the capital ship, or you may opt to use the capital ship without its usual compliment of starfighters. I hope that helps answer your question.
Oh, and welcome! My apologies for being a tad slow on greeting you; school has been keeping me rather occupied of late unfortunately. Regardless, it is always awesome to see new players come to the community; always feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Thanks, and yes that does answer my question perfectly.
Another question: Are you allowed to have a smallish personal space station in a remote and possible uncharted location to act as a base?

Unless it is a group/faction HQ, the answer is probably no. Honestly, there is a bunch of planets that kind of go unused that you could probably use instead to fill such a role.

well, for the most part, everything looks pretty alright. Obviously it goes without saying that the effects of Drain Knowledge, Torture by Chagrin, and Deadly Sight would need to be agreed upon between you and whoever you were using the powers on, but since they are noted as apprentice level powers, I don't imagine you'll be using them often. whilst it is in an archived location, and no longer "enforced", this thread: boards.jedivsith.com/thread/669/force-power-regulations will give you a good idea of things that are likely still not so cosher in open RP as far as force powers go.
