Hi all,
It's been a while since I've been active, and I'm sure this might just be a rule-of-thumb thing (can't imagine there being a concrete time period), however what is the site's thoughts on waiting for someone to respond? In my specific instance I was hoping to invade an abandoned planet, PMed the owner out of courtesy, who then wanted to defend (was nearly 2 months without posts). Now I'm busy trying to talk myself down to the planet to cause trouble (can't beat the fleet in orbit, and I'm not suicidal). In one instance I waited 13 days before a response (and that was only when I posted again chasing it up), and now I'm on the 5th day of waiting again, with no sign of posts.
Not to be a pain or owt.

This is more of a courtesy rule of thumb and not a hard requirement, but in an open RP battle scenario, the polite thing to do is to either post IC within 72 hours, or send a PM to your opponent explaining why you cannot post and when you will be able to post.
If the defender is unable to defend his planet at the moment and knows that his responses will be greatly delayed, then one recommended solution would be for both parties to delay the invasion until a mutually agreeable date when both will be able to respond quickly. Another option is for the defender to ask an ally to RP his defense for him.
Given the slower nature of the site in recent years, I would stretch the 72 hour window for a response to as much as a week but I agree that 13 days is excessive.
If you have not already been doing so, I recommend sending a PM to your opponent each time you post, so that he has a more visible reminder.
