Yes, I did... but specifically I was referring to the idea that people could send Councilors a link to good excerpts from the site for posting.

More or less.
Now to figure out a "portfolio" of sorts that showcases the aforementioned versatility and freedom of expression this medium enables.

Facebook charges $10-$20 a day to advertise. I don't have that sort of cash to burn.
The easiest way to get the word out is to share the page with like-minded folks who might be interested. I've exhausted my friend list, and we're up to 40 likes.
Feel free to send us stuff. We don't need some comprehensive cross section of the site, just interesting shit to post.

Good work so far on the Facebook page. It may take a little while to have any significant impact, but keep at it. I am glad to see these sorts of efforts happen spontaneously -- you may even be more likely to succeed than if we Whills tried to force the issue. You don't need to be an official page in order to do a lot of good on the publicity front.
That said, don't hesitate to ask if I can help you with anything.

Xeonon, Major, and Sinistra all had a few very good ideas: Generate a nerd-trap game, put up writings for exhibition, diffuse certain responsibilities over to writers, and hang Major out in something skimpy to snag new writers.
I never would have known about JvS 1.0 on Facebook if it weren't for those little games. Such a thing might not be as big a deal now (I don't know, I don't play games like that anymore), but I only learned about text-based RP after stumbling on the Facebook threads. I remember being so excited to find something like that as well, like I discovered an entirely knew way to enjoy my love for the SW Universe.
Exhibiting some of our writing is another great idea as well, as long as we put out the right material. Maybe instead of excerpts from single posts, we use posts that go back and forth between characters, showing more of our writers' work at a time.
Sinistra's point about delegating certain tasks to actual writers would allow for more work to get done on our behalf, especially if multiple people were used. It might be nice to give access to the JvS Twitter to a wide range of people, allowing almost anyone to become the face of JvS for a brief time. One place for the thoughts of the writers to be seen. Imagine a stream of feeds that cover the course of an RP'd battle, where each side's writers have put their updates on, going back and forth. That can be an interesting thing for a potential member to see, something that makes them want to "get in on the action."
Putting Major out on display has its obvious rewards. Even if it fails to bring anyone new to the site, we all get to enjoy the view. Win-win situation, that is.

I was thinking about Atia's banner idea, and was wondering if a mutual thread/forum between ourselves and other sites might be beneficial? Maybe we have the sort of RP on our site that anothers' writers are looking for, vice versa, so we can send writers back and forth to one another? I'd have to think more on it to develop the idea, but it's late and I'm tired. lol

One thing is sure: Most sites I have looked at dont have this setup. Most only write on threads based on SL-s, not places, and I must say, our version rocks.
An other thing, and this is a lot more concerning. I made a google search for "Star Wars rp forum", and ... well, I stopped looking after the third page, because who the frack looks past that anyway? So... (this is from a guy who doesnt know how this works, so be kind if I am talking stupid here) Erm... how about trying to get this lovely little site out on google in some way? You know, so people actually find it.

I'm sure someone, somewhere, knows how that works. If it hasn't already been done, we should make that happen. I think it involves not just registering with Google, but paying a fee that gives priority to your particular site. I'm not 100% on that though.

I'm glad to see that a topic called "New Blood" was not vampire related, as I at first feared.

Sorry I haven't had the time to read through all the other suggestions and posts as I don't have much time at the moment. However, if no one has suggested it, I would like to bring attention to the RPG directory, as some of you may know and the title suggests it is a site that hosts advertisements and summaries for role-play sites like ours. It gets a good amount of traffic and has a dedicated star wars section. I think it would be a good idea for one of us, perhaps a whill, to create a profile there. With a profile there we can create our own thread, describe the site and show some examples of the writing we do here

I started writing on the facebook JvS when i was eleven. I've been writing on and off on JvS probably close to nine or ten years now, maybe less, i do remember 1.0, and have avoided Rp writing with others because my schedule is always changing especially these days but I've always come back as I've made this kind of like a permanent hobby to come back to and write on my own time. This idea of a Star wars based writers community has been around and alive for this long. I think we can get another ten years out of this, Jedi Vs Sith won't be deserted.
As for promoting the site and getting the attention of writers i hope this plan is still on going, if so has anyone thought about promoting it on youtube as well, i know a few writers who has channels of their own, perhaps they could be interested in promoting the site.

So here's what I'm thinking. (Yes I know it's bee a while. Hi! :D )
I don't have a specific how to idea at the moment, but I do know that with the new Star Wars movie coming out later this year, fan excitement is and will be on the rise. We could use this timing opportunity to the sites advantage when it comes to getting people interested in RP and populating the site more.
This is a very important issue that I can't stress enough. I mean I can practically sense the tumbleweeds right now and we've gotta do something about that. I agree with the posts I the Pgc thread that we should make this a priority. What do you guys think? This year is going to be a great year for Star Wars fans after all.
Oh and it feels so good to post! Ahhh... It's been so long

YES! That's an awesome idea! I'd love to help out. Although real life has impended my activity of late (understatement of the century...), I'd like to do whatever I can.

I just gave you access to the forum. Feel free to add your thoughts and ideas. It's been a little slow lately, but I am going to give the project a good kick in the next few days.

I really think putting some energy and life into the Facebook side of things will help with bringing new members to the site.
I mean, the star wars fans are there, the writing enthusiasts are there, if we build it, they will come.
Im loving the JvS stuff that does get posted, but we can do a lot more by appealing to the wider SW loving fraternity.
