Taung stood by the door for a moment before going over to Mel's door, knocking lightly on it, his helmet hanging on his belt, his gloves stuffed into it. "Mind if I come in?"

Mel had dozed off to the gentle shifting of the ship as it traveled through hyperspace. The hum of the engines and the life support systems were a lullaby in B flat major, forming subtle chords with their cooling fans and motors by virtue of their operation. She had been asleep only a few minutes and the knock at the door roused her awake with a start, her heart sprinting out of the gates to push adrenaline through her body. She relaxed when her sleep deprived mind remembered that she was safe on the ship and not undercover in an enemy territory. She pulled herself off her bunk and ran a brush through her long black hair before she opened the door.
She was not expecting to see Taung there, but she guess she should have. She had been insubordinate in defying his notion that going to Dromund Kaas was their best option. Tiredness had moved her tongue when she knew she probably should have held it. It caused Taung to admit that it was poor planning. She expected some form of retaliation for questioning his authority, but she had come to another conclusion as well. This team forced her out of her comfort zone, it smudged the lines between colleagues and friends. She was used to something far more rigid in the army. She stammered a moment, her exhaustion making it nearly impossible for her to form a coherent sentence with the speed of normal conversation.
"I'm sorry, I was a asleep. Please come in. What can I do for you?" She omitted the sir at the end of the sentence, but she said it in her mind. She felt she needed that honorific to help her compartmentalize the thoughts she had been wrestling with since they walked back from the surveillance the night before. Ultimately, no matter how loose he ran his teams, he was still her commanding officer. There were regulations and protocols, things that gave her structure and mattered to her and yet there were those eyes again. She tried very hard to look professional and not look at his lips or let her idle thoughts wander back to the aching temptation of having his lips so close she could feel their warmth on her own.

After what seems like relentless eternity a certain ship finally reaches it's sector destination. It slips slides out of hyperspace, along upon its happy and smiling way.

Taung stepped in, the light reflecting off her blue eyes, and he almost didnt go through with his plan, but he summoned the courage go continue. He stepped in and let the door hiss shut behind him and, not having anywhere to sit, and not thinking it proper for what he was going to do, elected to stand at one side of her quarters.
"I...uh. I wanted to say thank you. For earlier. For voicing your thoughts on Dromuund Kaas. I was wrong. I hadnt thought of everything, or what the information was worth, just that it was there to get. I would have gotten everyone killed if you hadnt said what you did. And I wanted to make sure that I am grateful for that."
He was silent for a moment as he took a long breath.
"I also wanted to...apologize about last night when I let things get more personal than I should have. I let down my guard and became more familiar than I probably should have, and I hope that I did not offend you or make you feel uncomfortable."
After the official worked out part of the rehearsed speech was over...he was at a loss.
"You are very beautiful and I couldnt help but get caught up in the moment. Its been so long since I relaxed that I got swept away and..." He shut his mouth realizing that he was babbling and probably actually making her uncomfortable now, if he hadnt before. He swallowed, trying not to make things more awkward as his eyes caught hers again and his heart started thumping in his chest, and his fingers and arms tingling in nervous anxiety.

She stood still as he thanked her, her lips parting in awe as he spoke. She didn't quite grasp it all, as she had drifted to sleep thinking that once they arrived back at Lianna, she would be handing in her resignation. She took a deep breath, letting it all out she relaxed her stance.
"There's no need to thank me. I should not have spoken out like that. I'm glad you appreciated my insight but the truth is that I should have approached you in private with my concerns."
He continued on with an apology, her eyes trailing down his face as he spoke. For some reason her palms felt clammy, her mouth suddenly dry. He looked distressed, his eyes looking darker and stricken as though something was pressing heavily on his mind.
"Don't apologize, I wasn't offen..."
She stammered to a stop as he continued on, the word beautiful freezing her in place. He was nervous, and as it turned out vulnerable. She could still feel the ache of her tired body but the one clear thing was in front of her with glowing flecks of silver in a bed of hazel. She put a finger to his lips to silence him, breaking the touch barrier first. She stepped closer, but did not move her finger, her expression softened. Her blue eyes seemed to darken, a stormy look in them as they popped from the lingering mascara she had been wearing the night before.
"You think I'm beautiful?"

Taung had kept talking, and stammering as she offered her protests that she had made misjudgements in when she had spoke, and insisting that she wasnt offended, barely hearing her, it was like a two wheeled manually powered transport...once you got going, if one stopped, one would fall off. He froze stock still, partially in surprise and shock. It had never expected her to step forward and touch him. It was so surprising that his thinking stopped mid thought. He managed to think past the blue eyes that seemed to float in front of him, almost on their own, making everything else fade out of focus, to the question...beautiful. He answered with her finger still pressed to his lips, almost a whisper.
"Myeth..." which was supposed to be a yes, but he hadnt done anything to remove her fingers even light pressure on his lips, the rest of his body stock still, her finger on his lips almost like an electric contact point, locking his sensory perception to her fingertip and eyes.

Her finger dropped slowly from his lips, her breath held in this moment as they stood not more than a foot from each other. Her exhaustion made her feel warm all over but her ears practically burned from the rush of blood send by her thumping heart. In that silent, still moment she took the step off the ledge, down the path she could never take back. She moved tentatively forward inclining her head just slightly although her eyes had fallen from his eyes down the line of his nose to his lips. The lips she wanted to taste, the lips she wanted to feel pressed to her own. Her own blues slipped closed as she brushed her lips on his, testing the waters of temptation to see if this was truly what he wanted. She pulled no more than a couple inches away, her eyes open to lock with his. She needed to see the truth of the emotion in his eyes.

As Mel's lips brushed his released a wave of tension from Taung's body, it was such a small touch, but that small touch was just right to send tingling jolts radiating from his lips across his entire body, followed by a wave of heat and relaxation, followed quickly by the desire to feel it all again. He was drawn, like a moth to a light source, his lips chasing that faint touch forwards, his eyes closing to mere slits as he moved forwards to press his lips against hers, his arms reaching up to embrace her, holding her there so the feeling wouldnt stop. As their lips contacted again he felt light headed and warmth started spreading across his body. He could smell her skin and hair now, so close, he hadnt been close to someone for so long, it was as if he were locked in a tractor beam's embrace, with no chance to escape, not that he would have wanted to if the spell were somehow released.

His hands on her hips drew her closer to him as he kissed her and she let the apprehension go. Her arms slid around his neck, her fingers buried in the thick hair at the base of his scalp. Her hair fell in a black curtain, hiding their faces but releasing the scent of her shampoo. It was light and surprisingly floral, something feminine woven into her persona of weapons and duty. She returned his kiss, gently but firmly. She pushed against him, pinning him back against the dull metal wall of her quarters. Her implulse made her more forceful as she forgot her position, her duty and her rank.
It was she who finally broke the spell of desire and pulled back from his kiss. The kiss had cemented the feeling in her gut that she was attracted to him and there was chemistry there. The rush of emotion had receded to a barren plain of uncertainty once more. She could not be his subordinate and have this going on. It brought more complications than she was prepared for but she wanted more. In the moment of passion, she was blind to her options and desperately grasping for purchase on something solid. It was her turn to stammer, her arms sliding back down from his shoulder to rest her palms against his chest plates, her breath quickened.
"Sir. This is a complication that we both know we should avoid. You're my commanding officer and while this is your spec ops team, I am still bound by the code of honor and ethics. So I need you to make a choice. I hereby resign my commission in the Liannan Army, effective immediately upon return to Lianna. If you accept my resignation, then I know you would like to see where this can lead. If you don't, then I know that this is something we're not ready to dive into. No harm, no foul. I just don't want to be hauled in for a court martial if this goes sideways down the road, sir."
Her use of sir instead of his name was her conscience trying to remind her that she had broken the rules. She had been a career officer before this reassignment. She hadn't dated, hadn't ever married. She lived for the service of the Liannan Military and it showed in her drive and devotion to her duties. So strong was her conviction to maintain that code of discipline, she would give up her life as a soldier to avoid any issue of impropriety. Part of her loved the life she lead, but the other half of her was lonely from long assignments and empty houses. She held a small hope in her heart that he would accept it so maybe she could find a new path but practicality told her that he most likely would choose to keep her where she was and let this moment be forgotten. The moments drew out and she stepped back from him to put the distance back in place.
"Take all the time you need to think, sir."

A myriad of thoughts flashed through Taung's mind, and quickly boiled down to he didnt care about any of the negatives enough forgo the positives. He didnt just think about him though. She had told him that she would basically sign over her life to be with him, to see if this spark would turn into the full fledged flame of a long term relationship. If it didnt work out, well she wouldnt have to worry about money, Taung was the kind that if she was willing to give up her career and livelihood on a chance of love, well he could give up something too if things didnt work out. But if she was confident enough to do so, so could he be to give it a full and honest try.
He tilted his head down to stare into her blue eyes, the silver flecks in his glittering as his head shifted...and then he spoke a single word.
"Accepted."
He stepped forward and kissed her, pressing her back to the bulkhead, but not hard enough to trap her there should she decide that his advance was too sudden, or that she wanted more time to think as well, or had second thoughts, or whatever, but hard enough to show his passion, still aware that he was in almost full armor and she none. He had made his decision and didnt want to look back.

She barely had time to react to his answer when he stepped forward and moved her back against the bulkhead. There was no hesitation in either of them now, as they pressed on. She was too caught up in the sensation of his kisses, the hint of mint candies still lingering on her tongue as they dove back into the turgid depths of repressed emotions and destruction of the loneliness that had surrounded them so completely that they lost themselves to their careers and duties.
Laying in her bunk on this trip, she had thought of Taung here and there, dismissing the thoughts altogether whenever they arose. He was all business and rarely showed emotion to anyone except his daughter. To her, he was soft and caring, a very overprotective father which always seemed a little strange given his Mandalorian heritage. But the love for her shone through all that. Mel had stared a little too long, and always convinced herself that there was nothing beneath his helmet except another helmet.
Their careless flirtations were the first time she was given opportunity to push the boundaries of that little fascination she had but be protected by the facade of keeping cover. To be standing in front of him and realizing that it was no cover had utterly ripped apart her assessments of his actions previous. Was there something she missed before? How did she not see? Or was he so skilled at hiding his affections for others that there was no tell for his bluff?
The kisses paused only long enough to move to more comfortable positions as the bulkhead in her back quickly became a nuisance. She helped him shed his armor plates, leaving them in a heap on the top bunk. They were resting on their sides, still clothed in their gear for the most part, laying on their sides and admiring each in the dim light. She traced the lines of his face with a fingertip, in between kisses and looks. Neither of them spoke much in these quiet moments of letting their guard down, the ship and world beyond the door lost and forgotten.
Pulling back from one of these deep, long, slow kisses, she adopted a suddenly more serious expression. "I might have given up the army, but don't expect me to give up Lola."

Taung lay in front of Mel, one hand resting on her side as she traced a finger on his face. It seemed like the rest of the universe didnt exist, the ability to let down his guard, at least to the point that he was able. There were still recesses in his mind that he kept closely guarded, but it was not to protect Mel from anything, nor really to keep her in the dark, there were secrets that he still needed to carry on his own for a bit. Most involving Gaeza. Her powers were still developing, and he still hoped that she would develop them a bit more before he was able to let down every shield...or she got to the point where she could likely just read him like a book. He was as lost as he could be in the moment, and was soaking up the peace that was washing over him, knowing in the dark recesses of his mind that it would be over all too soon, until the next delectable moment. She pulled back from him with a more serious expression, and for a moment a fear surged through him that the moment might already be over. He was relived at her statement about her Verpine Sniper Rifle.
"Give up Lola? Are you kidding? I love Lola."
He gave her a contented smile, he'd never ask someone to give up the weapons...or ships, that they loved as long as holding onto it would cause more danger to those he loved. And Lola kept those dangers at a long arms reach.

She chuckled and leaned in for another drink of his intoxicating lips, his hand on her hip making her practically vibrate with shivers of nervousness. She wanted him to like her, needed something to make her feel alive again rather than endlessly watching the years tick by through the end of a scope. So far, she felt more in the last hour than she had in the last year. Duty and honor held sway but they felt empty at times in the lonely quiet house she kept in Lola Curich. Nothing hanging on walls, nothing personal around. She felt as though she was losing grasp of her humanity through the barrel of her rifle, one slug at a time.
She pulled back, serious again. The blue of her eyes seemed grey in the light, the blue washed over with clouds as her thoughts stirred tumultuous swells in the depths of her mind. She looked into his eyes, and longed to speak the thought that started to eat at her. When she could avoid it no longer, she blurted it out with it landing between them like an insect landed in the middle of delicious meal. "You can ask me, you know. Why I would give up the army after just a kiss? It must seem awful sudden to you. I know it does to me."
She rolled over on her back, his hand trailing from her hip to her stomach as she moved. She looked up at the top bunk over her then turned her head to look him in the eyes.

Taung rolled slightly towards her, letting his hand remain on her flat stomach, feeling the toned muscles beneath her uniform, and tilted his head towards her ear.
"Because you desire more in this life than killing. Something to make all the sacrifice, the pain, the long days and longer nights alone, the stress, the strain, the lives, the nightmares, the aches, injuries, the blood...all of it. What does it all mean if you give up everything you had hoped to be? To pass on? The hopes, the dreams, the wild fantasies of quiet nights sitting by a fire with someone and knowing the galaxy is quiet, and that children and friends you care about are able to do the same in peace and happiness. Hope my dear...you're giving it up for hope."
He was quiet for a long moment.
"I know because that is what hides in my chest, a small flame still burning in all the darkness, beating...burning...screaming within behind my breast. The hope, and despair that my daughter and any other children I may have, won't have to do what I have and will. To leave something good behind, to leave something for the future."
There...another barrier was broken, torn asunder, the flood release of pent up feelings, feelings buried deep down, further down than most, Force Sensitives could radiate feelings to others, he was aware of this, but also their was Gaeza. She was far stronger than he was, and he knew that if he didnt keep his inner fears hidden as deeply as the human psyche could manage he might make her worry beyond what she should, and not provide the superman image, the untouchable, unbreakable steadiness that she would most likely need as she matured and grew and learned with both her powers and her life...but he couldnt bear all of it without an outlet at some point, lest it eat him up from the inside. Maybe that was what he saw in Mel, a partner to stand with him, beside him, not behind him as his soldiers did. It was his place to be out front...and it was lonely. So lonely. There was a time when he wanted nothing more than to have a homestead, a ranch and farm, a place rich with natural resources and to raise a family in peace. Fate had denied him that dream. Perhaps he could yet make that dream come true for others...after...

"I guess we have more in common than I thought." She reached up and pulled him closer to her, to feel his breath on her skin, the warmth from his body alongside hers. She whispered, not because she didn't want to be overheard but because she felt vulnerable. To speak her wish any louder than a hushed voice would affirm her weakness of spirit in the face of her chosen path. Her eyes locked with his, loneliness filling back up the blues as she considered how true his words were. They had hit their mark dead on. "Would you hold me until I fall asleep?"

Taung moved his hand over to her hip and rolled her towards him, slipping his other arm underneath her head, letting it take the place of a pillow to support it, and nuzzled as close as he could to her while not having to balance, nuzzling his face in close to hers, and whispered.
"As often as I can..."
With that he let go of her hip and brushed a lock of hair out of her eyes and over her ear, letting his arm hold her gently to him, taking comfort in her closeness, hidden in a small cabin, on a small ship, drifting through the vast expanses of hyperspace...and started to feel that maybe fate hadnt completely ignored him.

The Midnight Shadow took her leave of the Smuggler's Moon, Leeza piloting the freighter with an almost textbook precision which was fairly remarkable considering that she had a drink, was trying to deal with a unknown variable and an unhappy captain. The ship cruised through the orbit until it neared the edge of the hyperspace lane. The ship was ready, locked and loaded and she slipped the headset on again, hitting the button on the intercom. "Prepare for the jump to hyperspace." It was pretty formal and polite, when the terribly uncouth phrase in her head was "Hang on to your butts." She punched the controls and the Shadow barely skipped a beat, launching into the swirling blue auras of the hyperspace. Leeza always found the lights mesmerizing but there was no time to sit and be tranced out by the passing of the galaxy outside the window. Now that the pilot work was done, she was free to lend Adrien a hand if he needed it in the back. Fenrir nodded as Adrien invited him aboard, showing that even he was holding a weapon. It was to be expected that they would be suspicious of him, afterall he had just randomly turned up and asked to join the crew. He then made his way up the ramp and on to the ship, briefly nodding to Leeza in greeting, before taking a seat opposite Adrien=Fenrir Asikari=Sounds agreeable to me. I am happy to submit myself to your questioning and scrutiny, So is there perhaps any questions you'd prefer to ask first? The jump to hyperspace always made Adrien feel more at ease, perhaps it was the slimmer possibilities to be caught or captured, or maybe he just liked blue streaks. Either way it was peaceful and he liked it. It gave him at least a few hours of complete security in which he could relax, except this time of course, right now he had two virtual unknowns on his ship and if experience has taught him anything it's that variables like that have a tendency to cause more problems more often than not and at the moment the thought didn't sit well with him. After all, he was taking a huge leap of faith on allowing just one stranger on his ship, but what was he to do? He needed the crew and these two came knocking. He figured that Leeza probably knew he was suspicious of her, but it was nothing personal, the last woman to track him down put a blaster in his gut and pulled the trigger, if he were human that would have killed him for sure. This time he wasn't taking any chances and she would just have to understand that. But she wasn't the real issue here, it was this guy who showed up out of no where. Leeza didn't seem to know who he was but still, the convenience of the whole thing rubbed him the wrong way, gave him an uneasy feeling in his gut and his gut was rarely wrong. He stared at the man in silence for a moment or two before opening his mouth to speak, "You can start with your name." He said plainly and somewhat pointedly.

Free of the pilot's seat, Leeza moved from the cockpit, her boots falling heavy on the metal decking of the ship. She found Adrien and the new guy sitting in the common area, Ade's blaster across his lap. Still on edge. She didn't blame him, certainly didn't begrudge him his suspicion. Of course, she was a little on edge as well. She searched him out to join up with his crew, now on board a ship he claimed was his, it was mysteriously empty. Where was his crew? Was this his ship?
Nothing about this didn't stink. She took up a position behind the new fella, so she could see both him and Ade. Leaning against the wall, her arms crossed over her chest, her blaster hanging at her hip. Answers were the special of the day and Leeza had a couple she needed from Ade before that duffle of hers moved an inch off the floor in the hallway from where she dropped it. She'd been in dicier situations than this before, but she had been wearing armor and carrying a saber and had full use of the force. Right now, she had a blaster, some hand to hand training and her wits. She almost liked this better.
She didn't speak as she watched the pair, it wasn't her place to. She didn't trust the nameless one, and she certainly wasn't going to question Ade about his missing crew until they had solid ground beneath her feet so she could cut if she needed to.

Fenrir was never really phased by the jump to hyperspace, neither liking or disliking it. The first few times he'd done a hyperspace jump, his senses had been thrown out of wack, leaving him a little unsettled for a few hours afterwards. Since then though, he'd managed to hone his senses so that he wasn't as affected by it anymore. Fenrir couldn't help but feel like he was the most at comfort person in this situation, despite his aversion to working in groups. But perhaps that was why he was so at peace, because no one was 100% willing to trust one another, which on a smuggler crew was a good thing. It did mean that if he needed to press his agenda, there would be a better chance he would come out on top without too much violence. Fenrir could sense Leeza as she stood behind him and leaned against the wall, his heightened senses allowing him to smell and hear her without ever looking at him. But he kept his attention fixed on Adrien, as the man asked his first question, a simple enough question, which he was sure he could provide his real name in response to =Fenrir Asikari= The name is Fenrir of the Warg...

The Warg? Who the hell are the Warg? He thought to himself. He also took note of Fenrir's reaction to Leeza entering the room, it was subtle, the kind of thing only one predator would notice in another. It lead Adrien to the belief that the man sitting in front of him wasn't a man at all, given his somewhat feral appearance and general demeanor. Of course Adrien didn't know of the Warg species, thinking that Fenrir was referring to a clan or faction of some kind, so his belief that Fenrir wasn't human was only speculation at this point. Adrien did, of course, wonder if this guy had simply made up a name on the spot or had a cover ready, but that was just his general distrust of people he didn't know.
He glanced to Leeza for the first time since she came back into the room, nothing special of course, just acknowledging that he knew she was there. She had taken a good tactical position in case this guy tried something, but she didn't seem quite ready for a fight if it came to that but something about her seemed almost excited. Adrien remembered what that felt like, the rush he used to get in situations like this, but now that was gone. For the most part at least, he got that thrill every now and again when the situation was just right. Returning his eyes back to Fenrir and shifting his position slightly as the hard surface of the seat began to become uncomfortable, Adrien nodded, accepting the man's answer, "Fenrir," he said as a greeting of sorts, and now he supposed it was time to get introductions out of the way, "I'm assuming you already know my name, and you've met my pilot, Leeza." He paused for a very brief moment, not allowing any sort of word in from either of them, "So you're handy in a fight? Got any qualifications or am I supposed to just take your word for it?"
