Z'har wasn't sure if the pun had been intentional or not. He really didn't know the man well enough to have a bead on his sense of humor. Of course it was obvious the eyes were artificial, very few people could tap on organic eyes like that. He was somewhat surprised that they were removable though, as that was rarely an included feature. Most people didn't want to be able to take their eyes out.
-Z'har They are very well done, I couldn't even tell they were artificial. I take it you can remove them so that you can plug your backup eyes in? Or do you have other sets with additional features?

Clem smiled slightly, the eyes were of his own design so hearing that it was hard to tell they were artificial was always nice. It didn't last long as Z'har continued though.
Um well.. not quite. These are my only pair, for now. And yes I do know that that's not the brightest idea. He had in fact only just gotten them replaced at the RDMC, after not being able to see for the prior three months. I initially designed them just for the basics of being able to see as i was going blind rapidly. I didn't consider throwing in additional any features as my concern was elsewhere. Clem in considering the numerous possibilities these options presented became fairly still, it wasn't sudden nor complete by any means, however the longer he was allowed to think, the more obvious it would be.

Z'har shrugged easily.
-Z'har That is understandable, there are a number of interesting sensors & other fancy little bits of tech small enough to fit in an eyeball sized device. For most of them you wouldn't even need a pair, as just a single eye would be just as effective. Of course, I doubt most of them could be as easily disguised as organic as those are.

*The blue and silver swirls of hyperspace seemed to crackle around the ship as it hurtled through the void. The Vaycun was a rusted out old hulk and it creaked and moaned every time it lurched into the space between worlds. But yet it remained intact for one more ride. The crew thought it was only a matter of time before they were sucking void.
Syren drummed her fingers on the console. She was on watch, but watching for what? An interdiction cruiser? The remnants of the Empire had not been chasing after smugglers for decades. Pirates and slavers didn't mess with Franzez crews, usually. Not to mention it was hard to come by gravity well generators last she knew. Nevertheless, Syren was on watch, and she was bored. She wasn't that great of a pilot, just babysitting the controls while Will snoozed like a baby.
The kid was just pushing 15 but he was a crack pilot. Ser had wanted him killed at first, but you don't lose talent like that when it falls in your lap. Syren vaguely let her mind wander towards Will's family ties. She had been hunting down his family for Ser for a long time. It felt odd to watch over one of the Reeds now. Not that she was really watching over him, Ser had schemes for her on the planets they visited.
She glanced over the instrument panels and the nave computer began flashing at her briefly about the planet they were aiming for. Jabiim. Syren raised her eyebrows at this. Talk about a backwater world. Ser had clients there?
She sighed and dug the datapad out of the pouch at her hip. This probably meant she was supposed to kill someone. She felt a tiny prickle from the collar around her neck, and a sharp pain along the ridge of her skull where the piece of her fractured mind as held in thrall by the mind prison. Syren had to stop herself from growling. There was little point to get upset. Ser knew everything she thought and would only derive joy from this torment. Silencing her emotions, she took a look at the information scrolling across the data card.*

With Clem and Z'har deep in conversation, Han went about the work he had to do of stripping out the droid bay and building a pressurized pod. Once the old yoke was removed, he cut several pieces to shape, before welding them together, almost creating an empty droid body. Once that was done, he started running cables and putting in all the control panels needed to replace what the droid would have monitored. There was also a number of systems that had much smaller components that easily replaced the functions an astromech was used for. Although, at the same time, people tended to use astromechs to replace the need for a copilot in starfighters. What Han was doing, was the exact opposite of how starfighters were generally designed. Once the computer systems were connected in and cables up, the piece was lifted up and welded into place.
Han hopped inside his new copilot position, and did a quick check of all the systems to make sure they were all cabled correctly. There was also a handful of controls to allow Han to pilot the starfighter from his position as well. With that done, Han moved onto making and shaping the dome atop the cockpit. Once that was set in place, he moved onto the final job of placing some armor plate on the bottom of the starfighter to cover up the spot where the droid would have used to be put into place. And also installing a rotating dual blaster turret system

Z'har had been keeping an eye on the work being done on the starfighter. In all his years, he hadn't ever seen someone turn the droid socket into a cockpit. He had seen droids permanently grafted into the slot, but not a full cockpit rig. Then again, he had limited experience with species small enough to fit in that space. He tapped on the side of the craft to get the attention of the jawa.
-Z'har What did you have planned for the original cockpit?

Han was finishing up the fit of the blaster turrets, when Z'har got his attention, asking what he planned for the main cockpit. The Jawa had not given much thought to it, since that was where Juuma was going to be piloting the starfighter from. But if he ever got the chance, he had a few ideas for what to do That's for the hot shot... but maybe a breakfast bar...

That didn't make much sense to Z'har. But then again, he had always been in the business of reducing the number of people it took to do a job. In different parts of the galaxy, different forces were at work.
-Z'har Why use two people to fly one fighter? With that much spare room you could mount one beast of a cannon.

Han had expected such a reply, well the first question. Perhaps not the cannon part though. But perhaps that was just the way their new crew mate always thought. He wondered if his translator might hold up, but if it didn't, it would only serve to prove his point droids make mistakes, take too much space to be a glorified rolling nav computer. Two people more reliable... For some reason, his voice sounded like a thick accented man originating from {Russia}, which was unusual Might add a cannon one day... If Juuma leaves...

Looking over the fighter, it was already a far cry better than many of the X-wing designs he had seen, though it was still the better part of fifty years old.
-Z'har That is understandable. You could also more than double the shields on it if you went that way. Or you could boost your sensor feed to that of a dedicated scout ship. Or do a little bit of each if you can't decide.

The Zabrak cook certainly had some interesting ideas for what Han could do with the X-wing. There was definitely more to Z'har than he had let on to them when he had joined the crew. He was a decent cook, but Han suspected he was also a decent tech Also possible. Something to think about... You're the most interesting cook I've ever met...

-Z'har Everyone needs a hobby. I like to dabble in a little bit of everything. What about you?
He could actually upgrade the fighter in any of the ways he had mentioned, years spend flying on his own in his youth had given him a fantastic grounding in practical mechanics. Of course, his cover wouldn't have those skills, so he would have to play it off as just theoretical knowledge. On the other hand, he could always spend some time with the diminutive engineer. He might even pick up some new tricks.

Han couldn't deny that everyone needed a hobby. Some people liked to broaden their horizons a lot, others not so much. Everyone had a different level of curiosity. Z'har definitely seemed like he was on the higher level of the spectrum. His suggestions were certainly something to keep in mind for one day Mechanic by trade and play... Anyway, I need some rest, and it's not long till we arrive...

Post by Chase Hargrave [Retired] on Jun 29, 2017 12:36:14 GMT -8
The Majestic-Class Heavy Cruiser, Cryptwalker hurtled through hyperspace, destined for Raxus Prime. Having picked up a well-known smuggler and pilot, Vice Admiral Hargrave had made the necessary preparations for help carry out a daring plan to help the Alliance over Taris, where the First Order had dug their Imperial boots in and dared the Alliance to come in after them. Obligingly, the Alliance jumped at the opportunity to strike at the First Order. This time, however, information recovered by the First Order on Jabiim had allowed them to be well prepared. And so, knowing that the Alliance needed to pull off a win using unorthodox means, Hargrave took it upon himself to search out a highly skilled pilot and concoct a plan for getting through the Imperial blockade to aid the few Alliance forces on Taris' surface. Hopefully they'd arrive on time to be of some help...

The Serene Moondancer punched through to hyperspace, its engines propelling it along its path to Bothawui. Han finally turned back to look at the others as the freeze frame of the attackers remained in front of them all. This was about to become a very interesting discussion. He pointed to the people he didn't recognise Some uninvited friends?

Z'har smiled knowingly at the group.
-Z'har Yes magic & not the common jedi type either. Real Magic. Don't make me go get my Wizard Hat.
He nodded as if that settled the matter. Looking over the collection of people, he didn't recognize any of them, but that meant exactly nothing. He had a feeling that Brick probably knew some of them, & a quick glance in her direction confirmed that when she replied with the Herglic facial tick that was the equivalent of a nod in a human.
-Z'har I can safely say that I haven't personally done anything that someone might have found questionable enough to require blasters. Err. At least not on Mon Calamari.

Clem was interested in how Z'har would reply. He wasn't expecting quite such a response however and was frankly a bit nettled by the entirety of the response. A quite skeptical expression came over Clem's face as he formulated his reply. Sure... Magic... As a practitioner of what some lesser informed people may consider "Magic" I hope you can understand my complete and total disbelief in your statement.
As he finished this statement he swept his right hand and and waved it horizontally from left to right, unintentionally lifting the slight pillow on the cot and flinging it right at BB Awesome. Startled slightly at this unintentional action he looked over to BB Awesome. Sorry about that. BB-Awesome squeaked angrily at Clem as the man flunk a pillow at him. He extended an electric prod then and zapped it a couple times in the force users direction. Han sighed, seeing that the pair were off to a good start there. Meanwhile, Z'har seemed content with continuing to taunt Clem with the idea of Magic. He'd long since learned that there was no such thing as Magic. Not the Jedi, nor the Mystics of Tatooine, or even the Witches of Dathomir could perform Magic Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic... He hadn't meant to say that quote aloud, but at least his translator unit had got it correctHan watched the Herglic nod, before turning his attention to Penny and Clem, wondering if one of them recognised the people Penny watched as Clem seemed to attack the droid with a pillow. Clumsy as ever. She then returned her attention to the hologram before them"They look like some of Mace's goons... my former 'boss'. The other's I've not seen before..." Well, Penny was at least forth coming. He considered for a moment whether he should be honest. In the long run, it would prove better to make the others aware of their pursuers I'm afraid the others are after me and Awesome.

Z'har shrugged, a little threat wasn't too bad. It made life interesting.
-Z'har So we have on minor planetary level thug gunning for us, probably Penny & Brick in particular. & one threat of unknown abilities gunning for Han & Awesome. So how much do you know about the one gunning for you?
The question was obviously aimed at the Jawa. Without a serious grudge to fuel them, it was unlikely that the Mon Cal gang would be any threat at all while the crew was away from the water world. He doubted the gang there would remain intact much longer as their boss had been well on the way to bleeding out when Z'har had cut the feeds. That only really left the group hunting the Jawa.

Han brought out a datapad and paired it with the closest panel. He opened a number of files then, with the Industrial Automata logo on them. He had no idea if his translator would hold up, but at least with the files showing, they'd understand what they were up against. He brought Obadiah Bridge's personnel file to the fore front Obadiah Bridges, head of R'n'D at IA... That is who is after us. He'll use as many resources as he can. Be he won't risk open attacks... He cycled through the files then, letting them get a sense of all the projects he'd worked on with Obadiah, and the number of former associates that were now deceased. While IA had let him go, Obadiah viewed it as a personal betrayal. Han also had copies of wire transfers to mercenaries Obadiah had hired on the down low

As BB-Awesome sparked in his direction Clem emphasized his apologetic nature by half raising his hands in surrender and repeating his apology quietly. Turning back to the conversation and silently shaking his head in the continued disbelief of Z'har's use of "magic." More likely than not, Clem assumed, Z'har used some tech he was unaware of, and from the sounds of it Han thought the same. Viewing the frozen frames Clem couldn't pick out anyone he knew and didn't this it was likely that any of them were after him in particular. Mace's goons coming after Brick sounded likely, and that Han had people after himself surprised Clem a little.
Clem nodded in agreement to Z'har's summery of the situation. It would seem his travels with this crew wouldn't be without a few opportunities to learn a few different things and get some experience under his belt. Han then brought up the information on Obadiah prompting a pair of raised eyebrows from Clem. Interesting company you invited along. So stealth attacks, random targeting, mercs, and maybe the occasional war machine. Can't quite say if this is normal for a shipping crew or not. He shook his head slightly spotting BB-Awesome again. Out of curiosity when you built BB-A over there you did make sure to remove anything that could have been tracked as Mace's property right?
