Raxus Prime: Junkyard ClearingThe duelists find themselves lost in the planet world of Raxus Prime. The arena is a basic junkyard portion of the planet, surrounded by mountains of garbage on all sides. The opponents will fight in the middle of the four surrounding Garbage mounds, be creative in what you find and use here, duelists.

Devlin Dewe walks into the opening and sighs.
Why did I have to crash land on Raxus Prime?
At least there was a plethora of scrap to facilitate repairs.
I hope they have A-wing parts.
Walking to the center of the clearing, he kneels and begins to meditate. Calming his mind and drawing the Force into himself.
He wore the traditional Jedi attire: Brown cloak, tan tunic and pants, white undershirt, and dark brown boots. At his belt, near his left hip, a single hilt lightsaber hung. Behind his back, under the cloak, his twin tonfas remained until necessary. Both had phrik hilts. They lay horizontally in line with his belt near the small of his back.

Raxus Prime. Disgusting. Dirtiest planet in the galaxy as far as Johun was concerned. But, one could find parts for darn near any mechanical device here. A benefit of Raxus Prime being a huge junk yard. Johun rounded a corner in the maze of junk piles, to discover he wasn't alone. Johun should have known better. How naive to think he was the only sentient being here. Stopping as soon as he realized he wasn't alone, his right hand instinctively dropped to his saber hilt on his right hip. Johun was dressed in typical Jedi attire, brown outer robes, khaki tunic and pants, and brown knee length boots.

Devlin felt the other Jedi's approach through the Force. He didn't open his eyes.
"What brings you here, friend?"
He really hoped this guy didn't need A-wing parts. As far as Devlin had found, they were rare on this world. There was a sense circling this fellow. Caution, readiness to spring into action, and something else. Disgust? At what? Raxus Prime...perhaps...
Devlin began to wonder what dueling this person might be like. He had encountered some people who felt the only real way to know a person is to duel with them. Devlin wasn't certain he believed that; but, he always felt it good to find time and hone your edge.
...If this man was willing to oblige, who was Devlin to refuse him the chance. But first, he needed to test the waters.
Calmness radiates from the Jedi. He breathes in and out in measured breathes.

Johun relaxed a little, feeling the calmness from his opponent, a fellow Jedi. Johun slightly bowed to the man.
I could ask you the same. But since you asked first, I was looking for specific Astromech droid parts.

Devlin opens his eyes and smiles.
"I'm actually looking for a way off this rock. My A-wing needs parts."
He stands.
"Devlin Dewe."
A polite introduction.
Devlin found there wasn't much on this planet to do besides dig through scrap. He didn't relish the opportunity. In fact, he'd do almost anything to avoid it.
"Care to spar? I could use the practice."
He looks around at the scrap heaps.
"And something to do besides digging through scrap...if only for a moment."

Johun nodded his head in agreementand gave that patented Corellian grin.
I never miss an opportunity to train. I'm Johun Starfield.
Johun held "Vormund", his light saber hilt, in his right hand, in a one-handed grip near his mid-axillary line, angled forwards his opponent, with the left arm held parallel, and his left hand held up in a challenge. His right foot was positioned back, with his toes angled ninety degrees toward his right. Johun's green eyes stared at Devlin, and only then did Johun ignite "Vormund's" icy blue blade. It ignited with the typical snap-hiss of a light saber, and extended across Johun's angled shoulders toward Devlin.

Devlin smiles.
Standing, he unclips the lightsaber from his left side with his right hand. He holds it at his chest and ignites the viridian blade with the traditional snap-hiss. He flourishes his lightsaber in an "X", the traditional Makashi salute. Then takes up his modified Makashi stance: his knees slightly bent, his feet perpendicular to each other, right foot pointing toward his opponent, and shoulder-width apart, and with his body rotated so he presents a smaller target. He holds his lightsaber in his right hand and his arm partially extended in a midguard.
"Shall we begin?"
Devlin takes a step forward with his right foot, then his left. He takes another two steps, same sequence, however, his right arm begins to slowly straighten. Once within range, Devlin steps quickly forward with his right foot and fully extends his right arm in a lunge, aiming to strike at Johun's navel.
Now the fun could begin.

Johun aims his saber downward, diagonally toward his left foot, while simultaneously rotating on his right heel, counter clockwise. This will do two things, one, block Devlin's jab while rotating Johun's body out of the way of the jab itself. Secondly, the rotation helps add momentum to Johun's left elbow that he swings at Devlin's left temple, in a backward elbow strike.

Devlin steps back with his right foot into his modified stance as Johun spins to Devlin's left. The Cardooinian Jedi retracts his right arm, and lifts his lightsaber vertically to stop near the left side of his face. He hopes to intercept Johun's elbow with his blade; if successful, however, Devlin will deftly maneuver the blade along with the other Jedi's arm's momentum to inflict only a shiim--a minute wound--instead of severing the arm (a cho mok).
Devlin just hoped his short step would intercept his opponent's slightly longer rotation...it would be close, though. Sometimes it was better to think two moves ahead, sometimes it was better to fight unpredictably, and sometimes it was just nice to be lucky. Devlin Dewe probably wasn't any of those...
"Defend and attack. Do Jedi attack?"
He was never certain. Sometimes, he thought defending meant attacking. Other times, he was just content to remain in one place while the universe swirled around him.

Johun's elbow stopped before any damage was don, but his outer robe did manage to get singed.
There are no rules against being offensive, just against striking out in anger and hate.
Johun rolled forward, putting distance between himself and Devlin.

Devlin watches Johun roll away to his left and steps to his left to continue to face his opponent.
"True. But it is a fine line we sometimes tread."
Part of him wanted to wait, to see what his opponent would do next. Only a small part.
He reaches out with the Force into one of the four surrounding junk piles; the one on Johun's right. He concentrates and pulls a small piece of wreckage from the top layer of the pile. He pulls the scrap--a piece of X-wing s-foil with red markings--quickly toward Johun's right temple in an attempt to incapacitate him.

A quick flick of his left hand downward drove they incoming scraps into the ground, grinding to a halt just feet from Johun. Johun looks at Devlin and wags his left index finger at him.
It won't be that easy.
Johun stood, facing Devlin and once again assumed Soresu's opening posture, light saber hilt in his right hand, in a one-handed grip near his mid-axillary line, angled forwards his opponent, with the left arm held parallel, and his left hand held up in a challenge. His right foot was positioned back, with his toes angled ninety degrees toward his right. Vormund's icy blue blade ignited and extended across Johun's angled shoulders toward Devlin.

Devlin smirks.
"I'd be disappointed if it was."
He walks slowly toward Johun, the same pattern as before. Right. Left. Right. Left. Narrowing the gap, he speeds up. He digs his toe into the junk and flips it upward. He hopes to distract his opponent. Then he steps forward into a quick lunge. This time, however, he feints for the navel and then switches deftly toward Johun's left inner thigh.
Again, he attempts only to strike a shiim.

Johun used his right wrist and forearm to spin his saber clockwise while stepping back with his left leg. This caused his saber blade to rise from his feet in an attempt to sweep Devlin's saber upward as he stabbed at Johun's naval. Conveniently this motion would also take care of the actual attack on Johun's left leg in the same manner, which was now out of the way. Johun ignored the junk flung at him. It wouldn't hurt nearly as much as the saber. A piece or two struck Johun, but were of minor inconvenience. With his left had, Johun attempted to Force Push Devlin back.

Devlin's reaction was nearly automatic. He had been training his use of Force Absorb for years to be at a level where it could save his life almost as fast as he needed it. Unfortunately, this extensive training meant he was lacking in other areas. Nameing Force Healing. The best he could usually manage was a Healing Trance. Not very useful as a battlefield medic.
Devlin uses Force Absorb and absorbs Johun's Force Push. He feels himself brimming with energy. His skin, veins, arteries, hair tingle with power. White light outlines his vision. He can barely breathe. Closing his eyes against the torrent, he quickly reaches out with his left hand toward Johun's chest--first to fingers and thumb point up, last two fingers pointing toward Johun--and releases a Force Push of his own. Powerful. More powerful than he first realizes, due to the wellspring of Force energy cascading through him that he needs to release.

Force Absorb, Johun hadn't expected that. As Devlin made his hand gestures, Johun braced for whatever was about to be thrown at him. The Force Push that Devlin released was more powerful than Johun expected. The force of it pushed Johun back about 60 feet but because he had braced himself, it didn't knock him down. Johun concentrated, feeling the environment, swirling the junk in his mind's eye. The junk was heavy and resisted, but it would yield, eventually...

Eventually was a time Devlin did not want Johun to reach.
He quickly rushes toward the other Jedi. He stabs forward with his blade in an attempt to poke Johun between the eyes--expecting a block--he will, again, only attempt to land a shiim...if he hits at all.
"Ever been to Raxus Prime before? I'm interested in tourist sites."
Devlin hoped to distract his opponent enough to score a hit or, at least, get in past his guard.

With his saber in a two-handed vertical grip, Johun strongly sweeps his saber to his right trying to very strongly deflect Devlin's saber that direction. Johun's concentration had been lost on the junk, but it was only a minor detail. Johun headbutts towards the bridge of Deviln's nose. He was no where close enough to actually make physical contact, but he was well trained in projected fighting, and should be able to use this style of "phycial" fighting, in combination with his knowledge of Teräs Käsi, to his advantage...

Devlin lets his momentum spin to his left with Johun's block. He bends his knees and changes his levels. He whips his lightsaber underneath Johun's in an attempt to slash the other Jedi's legs.
The projected fighting was...unexpected.
Stars dance before Devlin's eyes. He loses control of his precise movements. He stumbles. To falters to his right. His attempted shiim now more dangerous and potentially a cho mok as his arm swings widely outward to his right in a sweep toward Johun's legs.
Not at all what the Cardooinian intended.
He raises his left hand and carefully probes his face for injuries.
"I'll take that to mean this is your first visit to this tourist trap."
