Faina nods twice after Nicademus has finished speaking.
Her first nod is tentative, and uncertain, suggesting that while she has heard all that Nicademus has said, Faina struggles to accept all he has lain out for her no matter how logically or rationally he has done so. While Faina is comforted greatly by the fact her concerns are not ones that had failed to surface in Nicademus' mind, she is less comforted by how cavalierly he appears to have set those concerns aside. Believing one is aware of a potential danger is one thing, but Faina feels as though Nicademus believes the danger to be of a rational, predictable variety that he can prepare for, and will therefore be able to recognize when it surfaces. Faina herself does not share his certainty that the behavior or reasoning of those who have fallen to or embraced the Dark Side can be considered as rational or predictable any more than the behavior of any addict can be; for that is what using the Dark Side is in the end, an addiction. No matter how firm the will of an individual addict, no matter how stubbornly they might cling to the belief that they are in control of their addiction, in the end the addiction always wins and consumes the addict entirely. The Knights of Ren and other Dark Siders Nicadmus believes are valued assets may be capable of rational, predictable behavior that serves the First Order's purposes now, but how long before they each descend into their addictions past the point of no return and become, in the very best case scenario, dangerous liabilities to be disposed of as easily as Nicademus believes he will be able to?
Faina's second nod, which comes shortly after the first, is more assured, as though she has accepted what Nicademus has said, and taken some measure of comfort from his assurances. While Faina remains unconvinced that his confidence should be as absolute as it appears to be, she is also aware of two facts that allow her to set some degree of her concern aside for the time being. The first fact is that, when looking into his eyes, Faina had seen no signs of fundamental change in her friend's essential being; for she had seen in Nicadmeus' eyes only those things that had made her believe in him so firmly when they first met, the cool logic, firm will, and charismatic ability to understand others and to find the means to motivate them are all still there in his eyes. The second fact that Faina accepts is that she cannot so easily dismiss Nicademus' assurance that he can remain incorruptible, and will be vigilant enough to elude any danger that might present itself from associating with Dark Siders; for Faina recognizes in herself the very same confidence in her ability to remain incorruptible and to recognize any dangers that might surface. Why, Faina asks herself, can she not then accept Nicademus' reasoning and trust in his strength and insight? The answer, comfortingly, is that Faina can accept those things, and so she does, and her second nod is meant to convey some of her thoughts to Nicademus even though she has said nothing aloud.
"You're right, sir, Faina says, even managing a brief smile. I shouldn't worry, even though I'm fairly certain I always will. I trust you, she adds, keeping her blue-grey eyes on his to try and make sure he sees in them that the degree of her belief and trust in him remains inviolate despite the concerns she had voiced. Turning to look over her shoulder, Faina sees that they have some degree of privacy despite their surroundings, which makes her comfortable with dropping some degree of her formality. Given how long it has been since they have spoken, Faina is not sure that his invitation to use his name when they are alone still stands, but she hopes to make her concern for how he has been personally - rather than as simply a leader - evident, and so uses it now as she asks, How are you, Nic?"

The Supreme Commander reached for his utility belt, pulling out a datapad and handing it to Darth Rebellious. Upon examining its contents, the Sith would easily recognize the project before him. Long ago, the Galactic Empire sought to create mechanized abominations, super soldiers for the Imperial Military. Some were half machine, half organic. Others were thick-armored war droids with an extensive arsenal of weaponry. The Supreme Commander had a small selection of these soldiers at his disposal, but desired to build even more of them for the future of their expansionism. A simple phrase would be listed at the top of the datapad in bold: Resurrection of Project Dark Trooper. Now you see why Nirauan's fortress could be used more extensively for the First Order, Rebellious. Such a boon to the Imperial Military with these assets could propel the First Order to far greater reaches with these assets in our hands. They will be a factor of fear for our enemies... just as they were for the Old Empire. The Darth's gloved hand reached out to take the datapad that the Supreme Commander had produced from his utility belt. Briefly, Rebellious looked over it's contents, details of reviving the Dark Trooper Project of the Galactic Empire. He recalled hearing of the Dark Troopers once. No doubt the name was probably spoken in conversation with his former comrade, Lord Phantom, who had been a droid maker. Although had heard the name before, he had never seen the results of the project, just being told that they were extremely effective in battle. After he finished reading, the Sith placed the datapad in a compartment on his utility belt before replying."Cybernetic-enhanced soldiers. Definitely sounds promising, Commander, I just hope you're correct. A force like that could definitely give us an edge."The Dark Lord was intrigued to say the least. He could see how Cybernetic-enhanced soldiers could be useful as their physical capabilities would far surpass that of a normal soldier, but he was worried about one thing. Those same enhancements would make them that much more bothersome to deal with if they decided to turn on them.

Nicademus would glance at Faina when she spoke directly at him... and spoke his true name. There were only a few bold and brave enough to speak the name given to the Imperial at birth. It was like as if speaking his true name would bring about some form of punishment. He didn't mind being called Nic, Nicademus, Sir or Supreme Commander, it was the formal names like Your Excellency or Your Imperial Majesty that usually made the Imperial grimace. After casting aside the Imperial title, it felt like a load was taken off his shoulders. No more extravagant formal names, just simple ones from now on.
Some of the Stormtroopers and Imperial Knights present seemed to stiffen their stance as Faina spoke the Supreme Commander's name, but seeing their superior seem relaxed and composed as always, they too managed to be at ease. Nicademus smiled lightly at the Imperial KnightI am well, Faina. I haven't felt this invigorated in years. The battlefield has always been where I belong, not sitting behind a desk or sitting upon a throne. I was born to lead soldiers and command armies in person. I feel like I am ten years younger in fact!"Cybernetic-enhanced soldiers. Definitely sounds promising, Commander, I just hope you're correct. A force like that could definitely give us an edge." The Supreme Commander continues to eye the fortress with interest. It was such a boon to claim such a well-preserved fortification for the future of the First Order. From this location, the Imperials could easily subjugate neighboring systems and enforce law across this sector of the Unknown Region. It was an ideal place to supply traveling fleets, garrison a substantial military presence and perform future experiments to improve upon the First Order's standing technology. The Dark Troopers are just the beginning, Darth Rebellious. I will need your Military Intelligence to supply a good portion of security to this facility and ensure that no one finds out about our plans and experiments here... Especially when the Dark Troopers roll out, we can't let any adversary know of their origin.

"Good, Faina says, her tone sincerely pleased for Nicademus while also containing a faint note of something akin to envy. I'm happy for you, the Imperial Knight adds, her eyes distant as, trying to determine the source of her covetousness, she is silent a moment while searching her thoughts. Faina utters what may be a soft, short chuckle when she realizes that she envies the invigoration and sense of having regained his youth that Nicademus feels, which is contrast to the weariness and sense of having become far older that she herself feels. It is, Faina reflects, also almost amusingly ironic that despite the variance in what the battlefield engenders within her and Nicademus, they each seem to be drawn to it for reasons of their own. Having a rudimentary understanding of what the First Order's plans for the immediate future are, Faina offers one of her near smiles as she makes as near a joke as she is able to, I imagine you will have no shortage of opportunities to escape desks and thrones in the days to come."
Drawing herself up straighter to resume a more formal tone, Faina tilts her head to subtly indicate the Stormtroopers and Imperial Knights keeping vigilant watch over Nicademus, saying, "It's good to know you still have the Imperial Knights watching your back despite what happened on Muunilinst, sir. And if you ever need another to, she waves her right hand back and forth as though swinging a lightsaber, swat away a few blaster bolts with a lightsaber . . . well, now you know I'm still around."

But, hey, don't you worry or lose heart. Word is we'll be moving straight on to Csilla from here, so you'll have another shot at getting that big head you're hankerin' for in no time at all. Nyra sneered at Nicolina, her widened eyes narrowing. The woman took another step towards the Stormtrooper, trying to peer in through the visor of the helmet on her head."I don't like the cold, or the Chiss. Too blue. And they're beady red eyes. Creeps me out. Like staring into the soul of a lab rat that got in some food dye. I suppose I can suffer the cold if it means slaughtering them though..."Nyra turned her head back towards the mass of POWs that were being amassed and eventually moved out. To where she did not know, or really care. One caught her eye, and she pointed at the soldier as he was walking. There was the glint of blood lust in Nyra's eyes. She had chosen her target. Still, she knew she had to be mindful of her new friends' feelings and rules. Nyra waved a hand at Nicolina to make sure she was paying attention to her."That one. Think anyone would mind if I led him off somewhere more...private?"

Nicolina tilts her head to the side at an inquisitive angle after Nyra asks about the possibility of being permitted to cart off one of the POWs on her own. Nicolina is pretty sure what Nyra has in mind, and entertains the possibility of granting the request only because of the fact that allowing the woman to slake her obvious bloodlust on an enemy soldier seems preferable to courting the possibility Nyra, if denied, might just start looking for other ways to vent that put First Order personnel in danger of winding up on the menu.
Wait here, Nicolina says after deliberating for a moment, having reached her decision. So long as the POW that has caught Nyra's eye has no strategic value, Nicolina sees little reason not to offer him up to Nrya's dark appetites if it means lessening the possibility of those appetites getting out of control. After a brief discussion with the leader of the squadron of Stormtroopers moving the group of POWs the poor sod that Nyra pointed out is a part of, Nicolina, having confirmed that said poor soul has not been deemed of any value in terms of intelligence gathering or other usefulness, returns to Nyra with the POW in tow. He's all yours, Nicolina tells Nyra. Take him away.

Especially when the Dark Troopers roll out, we can't let any adversary know of their origin. The Dark Lord smirked as he turned his sight from the imperial leader once again to the Hand of Thrawn. Delvardus shared his plans with him and expressed his need for the Darth's aide to keep those plans under wraps. It seemed that he and the Imperial Security Bureau were gaining prestige in the eyes of the Supreme Commander. Not only did it appeal to his sense of pride, it also stoked the flames of his own ambition. It appeared that an opportunity to expand the Sith's power base had revealed itself, as well as an opportunity to express the ISB's needs to keep up with the growing First Order."Well, Nicademus. I'll take that as permission to start recruiting more extensively. As we grow, the ISB will need more men to accommodate our needs. As well as a few other things."Rebellious paused momentarily and his smirk faded. He spoke the Commander's given name, not to undermine him as he held the man in high esteem, but to let him know how serious he was in his requests."I need my agents planted on every vessel under the Navy's control and stationed on every base we hold. It's imperative that we are able to monitor everything that goes on within our controlled space as well as beyond. Which brings me to another request. The facility on High Port is good as is our hub in Strategic Command, but I feel that with the current process of expansion going into overhaul, the ISB needs a mobile command center to put us where ever we need to be. Something that can be out in space for long periods of time as well as something that we can launch military operations from. I recommend a Star Destroyer with modifications for stealth and surveillance. What do you say Supreme Commander?"The Darth was ambitious, but his dedication to the First Order and Nicademus' vision of galaxy-wide order and stability remained unwavering. They gave him a continued purpose. What was the use of power without a purpose to exercise it?

*Karo stood in the middle of the hallway, hands folded behind his back in military fashion. His dark eyes watched the exchange of the POW between Nicolina and Nyra. All emotion was obscured by the mask he wore, the one he never took off in front of anybody, at least those who were still alive anyway. Curiosity finally over took him as to what was going on. Reaching out with the force, he sized up the feelings of the two. The trooper was composed, if not a little on edge. The other, the one he knew as Nyra, seemed wild, anxious and...There it was, the feeling of blood lust. The reason for the exchange, what fate was to befall this prisoner. With purpose he moved forward, not to intervene of course, but to get a better reading of the two. His footsteps were military in fashion, each one moved him forward with purpose. Officers and troopers alike stepped aside, not one making eye contact with him, seem barely even seemed to notice that he was actually there. He came to a stop a good distance away, not close enough to intrude but close enough to hear the conversation.*

Once the exchange of the POW has taken place, and Nyra has disappeared with him to fulfill whatever dark needs that drove her to ask about the prisoner in the first place, Nicolina does her best to put the entire affair out of her mind so that she can focus on things that she understands, and that need to be done in the aftermath of the successful campaign the First Order has concluded. Nicolina tells herself that she can worry about whether or not she should feel guilty about what she has done later, and turns to find her platoon sergeant, SSG Solberg to begin giving the orders necessary to get her platoon prepared to depart from Nirauan when the time comes.
Situational awareness a quality any professional solider should cultivate, and a skill which Nicolina herself works hard to continually hone, the fact that she, or perhaps the exchange between her and Nyra, seems to have drawn the attention of a masked individual does not escape her, nor does the fact that many others seem to be unconsciously unaware of the masculine figure. More bold by nature than may be, occasionally, wise, Nicolina gives the mysterious masked figure a nod of her helmeted head that serves as both a greeting to a fellow member of the First Order as well as a tacit acknowledgement of the fact she knows she is being, or at least had been, observed by him for whatever reason.
Once her silent gesture has been made, Nicolina waves Solberg over and tells her platoon sergeant, Get Reizian and Calenda on the comm, and tell them to start prepping their Larties. I want them ready to pick us up as soon as our platoon receives the order to begin withdrawal.

And if you ever need another to, she waves her right hand back and forth as though swinging a lightsaber, swat away a few blaster bolts with a lightsaber . . . well, now you know I'm still around." A smile crossed the Supreme Commander's face, assured in the loyalty and dedicated of Faina Nikulin among the Imperial Knights. She was integral now, along with Anya and Panno, who formed a trio in which Nicademus found the most trusted and worthy among the ranks of the Knights. If it wasn't for their loyalty, the Imperial would have been dead long ago, killed by assassins or would-be usurpers. Despite the changes since the days of the Imperial Remnant, Nicademus would continue to rely upon the Imperial Knights as his loyal bodyguards and enforcers; devoted persons who saw a leader in Nicademus and a visionary.
The Imperial sighs contently before looking once more at the fortress.I am glad to hear, Faina. I need loyal and capable people like you at my side... otherwise, I am vulnerable. Everyone has their role in the First Order, yet the Imperial Knights have the most important role; protecting the Supreme Commander's persons just as you all did when he was Head of State for the Imperial Remnant and Galactic Emperor of the Fifth Galactic Empire."I need my agents planted on every vessel under the Navy's control and stationed on every base we hold. What do you say Supreme Commander?" The Supreme Commander ponders upon the request made boldly by Darth Rebellious. True, the High Port was an ideal facility to be used for various purposes, such as the training of personnel that would serve the ISB as the First Order's frontline in espionage, infiltration and intelligence. Yet the proposal made was not at all without good reason; the growth of the First Order and the firm establishment of the ISB would facilitate the rise of more people joining Darth Rebellious and his organization. This would then lead the need for the ISB's own ships that it could utilize as both a mobile command center and to launch operations from.
The Imperial would momentarily glance to see a pair of Stormtroopers subdue a rather stubborn Chiss before dragging him away after the rebellious person was arrested and subdued. Nicademus began to speak without looking at Rebellious.Your proposal is not without good reason. As for what you want, we can discuss further about this on Muunilist at the Imperial Strategic Command center. The battlefield is not a good area to determine such matters. Visit me when you can, Rebellious, it will give me time to consider options for your mobile command center. I assure you, I will ensure only the best ship or ships for the ISB.======================================= Within hours of the Hand's surrender to the First Order, a general mobilization call is made across the main frequencies of the First Order military. The fleet and army were to be prepared for departure with a substantial garrison left to keep the peace and secure what remains of Nirauan's sectors. A new target was presented to the victorious Imperial forces... a target that would prove to be the climatic end of the Unknown Region campaigns: the Invasion of Chiss Space.

Helmet tucked under an arm, Nicolina takes a last look at the five towers comprising the Hand of Thrawn fortress before turning and boarding her LAAT/i, as always the last of her platoon to step off a field of battle.
"Take us out," Nicolina tells her perpetually dour looking female Nagai pilot, WO1 Calenda, and then heads aft to the deckplate as the gunship's sliding side doors hiss shut. Moments later the LAAT/i, joined by the second LAAT/i used by Nicolina's platoon, adjusts its course to continue on upwards to orbit where it will dock in the SD that will take them back to High Port, the orbital city of Muunilinst, where Nicolina and her platoon will resume the final stages of their training under Darth Rebellious before they begin their new roles in the First Order's security and intelligence department.

It did not take long for Nirauan to find its significance within the First Order. As planned out before the Unknown Region campaigns, the planet and, more specifically, the Hand of Thrawn would be revitalized as a military research facility for the Imperials. Its proximity within the Unknown Region ensured its purpose was masked even with a heavy presence of military units upon the surface and orbiting the planet. Chiss scientists, some of the brightest acquired, worked alongside Imperial ones as they worked day and night on various projects. The most significant and successful was the rejuvenation of the Dark Trooper project. Though in small numbers now, the Dark Troopers now served a great purpose within the First Order as vanguard soldiers and heavy shock troopers. Experiments were done on artificial intelligence, robotics, military technology, and even organics. All done for the greater good of the First Order.

While the Hand of Thrawn was being utilized by the First Order to great success, deep within the planet's surface, far below the activity of the Hand of Thrawn was a massive laboratory complex, dedicated solely to Cain's research. As per Nicademus' original agreement, Cain was granted a place to study and conduct his experiments in secret. On orbit, Cain's fleet patrolled for any sort of disruptions and kept the planet secured in the name of the First Order. Beneath the planet's surface, Cain had several garrisons of Stormtroopers protecting his assets. Every single trooper stationed within his lab complex was a permanent part of the daily operations. Secrecy and containment protocols were of the utmost importance, and the Supreme Commander had added extra emphasis on the 'containment' portion of his statement. Cain's research was too deadly to be released without specific controls in place. While the Dracus parasite was able to be mentally controlled by Cain himself, there was still too much room for error. And with the vast resources of the First Order at his disposal, Cain strove for perfection when it came to his parasite. After the events on Csilla and the subsequent ass-kicking he received from his former master both on the planet's frozen surface and again by his new apprentice, Cain knew he had to do better. And he was going to. With years of research beneath his belt, as well as years of learning how to contain something that could think on its own as well as access the mind of its host, Cain knew how extreme he had to be with his containment protocols. He was the only being allowed to leave the facility, and that was only if the Supreme Commander needed him. While Cain did miss traveling the universe, he was perfectly content where he was. Everything that he needed was supplied. If he discovered he needed something new, then it was delivered shortly after he requested it. Nothing could go wrong at this point. His lab was far enough beneath the surface to survive orbital bombardment. And it was nearly 100% self sufficient in the event that something actually happened to the surface of the planet.

The main lift brought Cain to the surface of the planet, inside the Hand of Thrawn fortress. Cain disembarked the lift to find Major Tagge already waiting for him. He spoke to the Major, wheezing as he did so.
Cain Dracus:"Major Tagge. I trust you were informed as to my purpose for being topside? I have very specific parameters to meet. I have faith that you will not disappoint me."
As Cain waited for the Major's response, Cain could feel the presence of his apprentice approaching the surface via the turbolifts behind him. Soon he would be able to explain everything to his apprentice. Soon.

C'thulu stood nearly motionless as he was being raised up the Hand of Thrawn. Now in his new custom made robes with one lightwhip on each side of him he occasionally clicked one against his side's. As he reached the top he stepped off the turbolift to see his master and an unknown figure. Upon getting closer to the unknown man C'thulu nodded to him to acknowledge his presence.
"You wished to see me master?"
C'thulu saw the man and noticed he was a higher ranking military official. Thanks to the military based and warlike culture of his home planet he could tell he was a Major but nothing more.

Soon he would be able to explain everything to his apprentice. Soon. Major Tagge was a veteran of the Supreme Commander's staff since his inauguration as Head of State for the Imperial Remnant of the Deep Core. The Imperial Human, whose origins were from the House Tagge in the Tapesi system, became well known to Nicademus as a specialist in security and defensive operations. This quickly elevated him to the rank of Major and granted command over a new security force, the Nirauan Defense Force, which was in charge of defending Nirauan and overseeing the delicate experiments in the Hand of Thrawn. This fortress was now turned into a research facility for the future of the First Order.
When Cain came to speak with the Major, Tagge was overseeing the production of a new line of Dark Troopers, Phase I models, that would be needed in the military operations to come. The middle-aged, dark-haired male turns to the Sith, nodding slightly.Aye, the Supreme Commander told me of the arrangements made. Now tell me the details so we can get this underway.

Cain merely nodded to acknowledge his apprentice. As the Major spoke, Cain withdrew a datapad from his belt. He tapped on it twice, then handed it to the Major.
Cain Dracus:"I need specimens of near perfect health. Those of which need to be as close to flawless in genetic make-up as possible."
Whatever else needed to be explain would be on the datapad. Once read, the pad would go into details of how specific Cain needed his specimens to be. He had also included what little information remained from the previous time he had begun live experimentation. One subject in particular, Sascha, would stand out. The pad would go into detail about how she was brought up on the streets of Tyr on Rhommamool. How despite that, she remained perfectly healthy. Despite lacking the social graces someone of the Major's caliber would possess, her intelligence was on par with many of the scientists now employed by the First Order. What she lacked for in social etiquette, she made up for in raw animal instinct. Living on the streets put her in survival mode and that brought out these qualities. And those qualities were something Cain could use to his advantage with the upcoming testing.
Cain waited for the Major to review the datapad and escort them to wherever it was these exact specimens were being held. As Cain waited, he mentally made note of an interesting side project he could use the washouts from the Darktrooper Project for, provided they were still alive and possessed the ability to function somewhat normally.

C'thulu stood there listening silently.
C'thulu wondered about what was on the datapad but more so wondered about what specimens his master was talking about and what they were for. He figured he'd learn when necessary so he stayed silent.

Cain Dracus:"I need specimens of near perfect health. Those of which need to be as close to flawless in genetic make-up as possible." The Major did not question the order presented by Cain. He turns away, snapping his fingers to a scientist nearby who brings the Imperial a datapad. He then hands it to Cain. Within it were available specimens of various races, mostly nonhuman, that were available for experimentation. All of them were labeled as either domestic terrorists or prisoners of war.Take what you want from there. Supreme Commander's authority allows it.
