Ali's and Ares' Suite — That Evening After The Talk
Sitting down on the couch in the middle of the room, Ares had his head in his hands knowing the damage the revelations he had made were irreversible. From the ashen looks from his brother and his sister, to the torment it had caused and would further cause to the others that were intimately, or even personally linked to them. Ares again felt guilty, so much that even if he had a year head start compared to his siblings, the effect of saying those things out loud were still poignant as ever.
And now here he was, couldn't escape fate at all, and yet he still had that guilt look on his face, in his eyes when he looked at Alisha, in silence. Ares knew that there was a pending matter between them, at least there was something on her mind that this morning he had clearly decided not to visit just yet. "Ali...?" He called out her name, and usually he would use an endearment when it came to her but right now, no, because he wanted to set, or at least hopefully set a record straight, by just talking with her here, and right now, just the two of them.
"You have been there, here, for me the whole time, and I haven't been there for you." Ares began to say, maybe she would contest that, and maybe he was wrong, but either way, that was how he was feeling right now. He had been so wrapped up in his issues, in the pending doom that his family, and not just his, was facing, that he felt like he had disregarded all of Ali's feelings one way or another. "How are you feeling?" He asked finally after a certain pause, and he stood up from the couch and walked in her direction, he took her hands and just held them gently, more for his benefits, to keep himself tethered to someone that mattered a whole lot to him.
"Sometimes, and a lot of times recently, I wished I never put you in this situation, and now because of me, you are in it..." Ares sighed softly and closed his eyes before releasing her hands and wrapping his arms around her. "Is it selfish of me to say that I cannot let you go, that I don't have the strength to walk away when I probably should, so you can have a chance to a happier life, to a future with a husband and kids?" Ares was speaking lowly, and every words coming from his mouth seemed like they were gutting him, it saddened him.
Everything just made him feel lost, he did not regret any moments he had spent with her, all of their time together, everything. He just wanted to do right by her and still he wanted to leave her that choice, that choice where she could still walk away, just call off their engagement and go on their separate ways.
That would be the logical way to go on by, right? His mind was telling him so, but his heart was screaming no, ergo why he tightened slightly his arms around her in the fear of losing her...
