My problem with Star Wars games has always been the half-assed finished product. I'm forever thinking "Man, that was good! But it could have been WAY better by doing this that or the other thing." It has never been hard to see what SW games lack, but the direction Battlefront was always heading for me was to a place that would top games like CoD and Battlefield, which both do certain things really well.
CoD is a rather smooth multiplayer game, it's drawbacks being that it lacks any sort of physical realism beyond stamping brand names onto the weapons. On the other side, Battlefield has always been a great MP as well, though their single player campaigns lag at times, and they can't seem to avoid crapping on MP with minor corrections that were unnecessary (anyone who's played BF3 and the recent BF4 knows that the helicopter controls did NOT need fixing. The BF3 controls were perfect.)
What I would like to see is Battlefront taken in that direction, but only in incorporating the best of those games, and expanding in other ways that supersede them both. The potential has always been there, but with Lucasfilm being sold and what not, I'm not sure it will be any time soon before that happens.
SW games have always been behind the curve, and that robs them of really taking advantage of the potential.

Well ideally it would take bits and pieces from all the major fighting games of this time. GOW cover system, weapon system. Halo like campaigns, and MP (user friendly and you don't walk around corners and die right away. Game types, and so on). BF/Red Faction physics and such (crumbling buildings and envirmoental destruction) and of course the COD fanbase.

That's a winning combo there. Though BF's lack of fully destructible environments has bothered me. It just breaks the immersion ensures the battlefield only "evolves" in the same way, each time. Looking into it, a system that allows complete environmental change would not take much more effort or time to design. The same algorithms simply need to be applies to all aspects of every structure. I don't like being just satisfied with a game, I want to be impressed.

Next Battlefront game should have:
-ARMA type open world campaign as shown in the cancelled BF3 --^With the ability to transfer between land, sea and space seamlessly -Better first-person mechanics --^With character-based HUDs and first person compatability for Jedi -Battlefield destruction physics -The Force Unleashed system for lightsaber users -COD class and weapon system --^So you can pick up guns and stuff, customize classes, etc. -The Old Republic character customization system -Vehicle customization for personal vehicles -Open ended multiplayer with tons of factions and more than two on a server --^NOT dictated by era. IE, Clones vs Stormtroopers. Tuskens vs Rebels vs a whole team of Sith. -And Republic fucking commandos.

I agree with ALL of that. The only thing I'm not so sure about is dictating things by era. I never minded that. I believe that a baseline level of equipment be set by era, and only those items and characters that appear in multiple eras be included in those eras. Like one weapon system falling out of favor but carrying on in certain ways through to other time periods.
