-Savalas- "No idea. Last time we met the Imperial remnant, we were exchanging turbolaser fire. Likely is my personal guess. We can show up in imperial space for a short while before the knowledge of our new aligiences get out without problem I am sure. Old Phoenix Imperium worlds would surely be ready for some central leadership again. Manaan is a question mark. Only link I know about is that Lord Sinistra was once the wife of King An Tiarna Dubh. Since his highness disapearence, she might have rights to the throne."
He took the data chip and put it into his datapad. Kuat, sure, was a nobrainer. Korriban.... that is for the jedi. Bilbringi?
-Savalas- "Put a check on Bilbringi. Place is a ghost system. Literally. Its defences are automatic and nasty. Its lord, an Abyssian with the name of Bacca had the place set. When he died, the automatic defences kickied in. First, one would have to get through an asteroid field set with mines. Without the chart, you cant get through without major losses. Then there is the space station and ground defences. Dont take it personal, but I am not going there. Nobody is, to say the truth."
Eridau, Bastion and corulag... Corulag?
-Savalas- "Senator... Isnt Corulag a Republic word? I know it has strong imperial roots, but as far as I know, it is yours. No disrespect, of course."

The information was useful and Darma took it all at face value.
As long as nothing comes out of Bilbringi, the information you just provided will suffice. Corulag? Yes that must be a clerical error. Is there anything else that needs to be addressed or clarified?
The writer forgot that little SL, and was running off of the now outdated galactic directory. Sorry, about that.

-Savalas- "Yes, parameters. What exactly do you want known? Defences? Warfare production? Do you want surveillance stations set up? Or just number crunching? Do you want to test their defences maybe?"
The old admiral had something in mind. A Military Practice Operation close to empire lines. A Misunderstanding. No shots fired, just someone looking for a way back home.
-Savalas- "Do you want to know how we do it beforehand, or just let us do our thing and get the results?"

Darma considere this question for a moment before responding. For now, all he was looking for number crunching, but if the other data could be collected then that would also be immensely useful.
The most critical thing right now is threat assessment. They claim to be weakened by the Mando crusades, but I doubt that did more than provide public outcry for a stronger more powerful military, and that wouldn't even have required any significant losses on their part. Testing the enemies defences right now is not required, but it's not forbidden either, I'll trust your discretion on this matter.
If this were an ideal galaxy, I'd say tell me up front, but since you're likely going to have to change your plans at least once in the field, I'll save us both some paperwork and request that you inform me of what you've learned and let you do your thing as you see fit. My only caution is that an out right war is not in any of our best interests right now. So long as that is avoided, in this matter you have an effective carte blanche, I don't recommend you abuse it.
Any other questions?

-Savalas- "None. It was intresting meeting you, Vice Chancellor Darma."
He reached out his hand to shake. When done, he would leave as he came. Munching on a lollipop and wearing sunglasses indoors.

Darma shook his hand firmly, well as firmly as a desk jockey can, and thanked him for his time.
Thank you for arriving so succinctly, and being amiable to a politicians whims. The force be with you Admiral Savalas.
Darma watched him leave, and smiled. He was confident that the man would get him the results he needed. Probably in ways most would balk at, but his enemy would use every tool in their arsenal against them, and he could not afford to be picky about his methods when so few options were on the table to begin with. Darma sent off a quick message before heading off to meet the Chancellor for the next session of the galactic Senate.

Darma returned to his office the next day, refreshed somewhat by the previous evenings relaxation, but also pensive and somewhat annoyed at the current storm of media haranguing anyone they thought they could for more information on the war crimes Crom'nen had admitted to on a live broadcast... Stepping up security at the ports would be a good idea, but it would also send the wrong message... leave it then, and make preparations for the worst. And so Darma set about organizing his office and preparing it to receive his successor, which might be elected much sooner than expected. Though to be honest, his term as senator would come to an end next year anyway. Darma wondered briefly if he would still be alive when his term ended, but quickly dismissed the thought as defeatism and continued his work. He wasn't about to throw Crom'nen to the wolves, sure what he did was the direct cause of many new problems, but Darma knew the Twi'lek was only doing what he thought he had to do. Darma might not agree with Crom'nen on what that was, but he wasn't going to fault him for it either just because the two disagreed.
Apparently some Jedi scholars had rewritten the charter, and a copy was available for him to look over. Darma read it carefully, and was pleased with what he read. He made a note to make this the first item of business upon the senate's reconvening. Next he looked to see what else was in his inbox... interesting, a charity ball to be held for Ryloth, that would make for some nice publicity, perhaps the Jedi could even show up and, hopefully, mingle with the senators in a friendly manner to show support for the victims and unity to those seeking to sow discord. Hmm, perhaps he should schedule a visit with the Jedi, and get their take on events and their opinions of the events to come. Yes that might be a good idea, if only he could find a way to work it into his rapidly filling schedule. Well, first send the request, if it is accepted then work out the scheduling.
Darma thought over some of the decisions made during the current term, and recognized that many would not be popular, but had been, and still are, necessary to the republic's survival. If the people could see just how vulnerable they are they might not be so eager to bicker about the hows of their security. Oh well, that was the fate of most republics, the populace got to comfortable, and their enemies exploited the weaknesses that arose from their comfort, and the rest, as they say, is history.
