Caoimhe stepped back as Zion rushed forward and hugged Tigress. She nodded to the interns whom started filing out of the room, freeing up some space to give Zion, Tigress, Amber, and Lyssa some room. Caoimhe then met Lyssa's gaze, as the woman gave a silent nod of approval, signalling that she at least would keep her head on her shoulders for another day. She then returned her gaze to Zion and Tigress, thinking back to the moment when the Farghul had looked up at her. Cammy could tell Tigress remembered her, as evidenced by the sharp inhale she had taken, thus proving the memory transfer had probably worked. She would note it down and try access the logs from the moment to see what happened and whether or not it could be replicated. For now, she remained silent as she moved closer to the door and stood next to Lyssa, allowing the woman to go perform her own formal check up of Tigress, after all it was better to have a peer review of one's results to confirm their legitimacy

Lyssa had waited patiently for the interns to remove themselves from the room before she made her way to Tigress's bedside and began checking the Farghul over. All of her vital signs were perfect for her species and Lyssa heaved an inward sigh of relief at that. While she was still skeptical of Cammy's machine, it had obviously worked because Tigress was awake and talking and in seemingly good health. Stepping back from the bed, Lyssa smiled at Tigress.
"Well everything seems like it's in working order. All of your wounds have healed nicely over the last few weeks and your vital signs are good. I'd say as long as you're feeling up to it you could probably be discharged....as long as Dr. Morviael is satisfied with your progress." She cast a quick glance over to Cammy before meeting Tigress's gaze again with a reassuring look.

Zion had moved out of the way to allow Lyssa to perform her own check of Tigress, another reminder of the distrust Lyssa and Amber felt towards Caoihme and her links to the Cinn Ion. When Lyssa gave Tiggy the all clear, he smiled and placed his hand on Tiggy's shoulder, giving it a bit of a stern shake as he turned his attention back to her. A lot had happened in the relatively short time she had been out for. There was a lot of work to do, both with regards to the Honoghr Temple and dealing with the Cinn Ion. With Tigress back up and moving, her extra pair of hands would go a long way to helping deal with everything, so long as she was willing. And the first order of business, would be to deal with Zacaiah and his so called sisters =Zion Morviael= You missed quite a bit I believe. I do think it'll be easier to show you though. So, what do you think, ready for another adventure? Although he still harboured his doubts, Tiggy seemed resiliant and able-bodied enough to want to go on, and there was far too much going on for him to doubt his actions. After all, there was a member of his family, locked away somewhere, being held against her will, to be used as a pawn in ensuring Braenden's co-operation. The Cinn Ion had indeed struck a blow against him, but now it was time for him to strike back, and teach them why he was worth being considered their top threat

Tigress turned to Lyssa, recognising the woman from some of the memories that the Imprint had shared with her. She gave a nod and remained still as the doctor performed her checks, to make sure Cammy wasn't trying anything underhanded. She smiled and kept her attention on Lyssa, when she gave her ok and updated her on her condition =Tigress= Thank you... She then turned her attention back to Zion as he placed his hand on her shoulder. She gave him a reassuring smile as he seemed to have perked up a little bit in the last couple minutes. She had spent far too much time laying down and doing nothing, she was well overdue for an adventure. It would give her a chance to get back into the thick of things and take her mind off some of what had happened. She swung her legs over the side of the machine, before using Zion as leverage to help pull herself up from the bed and onto her own two feet, pausing for a moment as she re-adjusted to standing up,after having laid down for so long. She winked at Zion when she was finally balanced and feeling confident of her footing =Tigress= I'm a cat, adventure is my middle name...

Caoimhe was quite pleased with herself when Lyssa confirmed her findings, at least in so far as Tigress' physical condition was concerned. As for her mental condition, that would require real-time observation and study of the scans taken by the machine, for now though, she had no reason to keep Tigress around. She turned her attention to both Zion and Tigress, whilst inputting a couple of commands into her datapad to take care of the discharge procedure =Caoimhe Morviael= Well, she seems healthy enough, and I have all the documentation that I need recorded in the machine. Just make sure you keep an eye on her... She then turned her gaze towards Amber briefly, knowing that although the woman distrusted her, that she was probably the best situated person to keep an eye on Tigress

Amber kept her distance from the others as they semi-crowded around Tigress, turning her attention between all those who were speaking, since she had nothing to really contribute to the discussion. She noticed when Cammy glanced over at her, giving a short curt nod back She had spent many years as a servant to the Morviael family, and could tell when one of them was giving them a directive of sorts. True enough, she didn't like the woman, but she knew that she was better equipped to keep an eye on things than what Zion was, especially considering his current state. If anything, she would need to keep a close eye on Zion, to make sure he didn't push himself too hard

Zion smirked at Tiggy's comment, quite relieved by her eagerness to get moving again. He couldn't help but wonder though, if Tiggy's middle name was adventure, if perhaps his must have been trouble, considering some of what he had gotten up to in the past. And now, it seemed, it was time to cause some more trouble for his enemies, starting with questioning Zacaiah. He then took a hold of Tigress in order to help her maintain her footing, knowing one of the first things that would need to be taken care of was securing her some new clothes. Zion then lead the way across the room, nodding towards Amber for her to follow, before he turned his head back towards Lyssa =Zion Morviael= I'll have the DNA samples sent over as soon as possible... He then lead the way out fo the Room and through the Medical Center back to the Hangar Bay, where the LAAT Gunship was waiting for them. For now, he would focus on his mission and worry about any doubts he had later, after all he needed to be confident in his decisions for the time being at the very least, since there was people counting on him

The nurses wheeled Shay into one of the private rooms, taking a moment to quickly hook him up to some monitors, before leaving Cammy and the other two crew members alone, with Cammy taking a moment to note down a couple of readings from the monitors before turning to the other two men =Caoimhe Morviael= Well, your friend seems to have made it through the surgery. We managed to remove all the metal fragments and patched up a few other wounds, but we're going to need to keep him in for observation and give his wounds some time to properly heal... Do you have any questions?

Post by Nayara Selene on Apr 18, 2015 17:16:57 GMT -8
It was another day, another planet. Another exam table with a half dozen needles poking into Nayara's arms and legs. And then there was the medical scanner running constantly as she lay flat on her back. This place was much nicer than the Felucian setup though. For one thing, table had a cushion on it. The medical droids were also very quiet. A lot of other places had the machines buzzing and chattering constantly, like they had to fill the air with some kind of noise rather than letting people stew in silence. Nayara supposed there were people who wouldn't want to be left in the dark about their health and their prognosis, but she liked the silence. The endgame was a foregone conclusion in her case. It was the journey she was most concerned with.
One of the major stipulations of the Jedi to allow her training to continue was that she submit to regular scans and tests on different facilities. Galaxy hop from one hospital and award-winning doctor to the next to try and solve this mystery herself. Nayara respected that wish, even though she thought it futile. Not out of despair or grief, but practicality. There were trillions upon trillions of sentient beings in the galaxy. Disease and poisonous wildlife was endemic to almost every habitable world. She was realistic over the fact that wherever Sly had found the creature that stung her foot all those months ago, she was unlikely to find its home world.
The twitching in her foot started up as she lay and watched the overhead scanner move down the table. Involuntary and quick, but not painful. The quick movement seemed to catch the scanner off guard, forcing it back and forth in a loop, unable to complete its task while it tried to track the movement. Nayara forced her thoughts to still like her meditation teacher taught her- going deep inside her own mind and body. Will alone couldn't stop a physical reaction to an invasive parasite, but it slowed the twitching just enough to let the machine do its job.
She was going to get a nasty cramp in the foot from forcing it to stop, but she'd deal with that then.
For now...
"Doc?" Nayara inclined her head to the side toward the instrument panel. "It's been an hour here. How is it looking?"

Dr. Linden was staring, completely baffled, at the holoscreen on the scanning machine. The young woman, Nayara Selene, who was laying on the exam table had contracted a very highly aggressive mystery illness. According the her medical file from various doctors and healers across the galaxy, there was no known treatment or cure. The only thing keeping the disease in check was the fact that the young woman was Force sensitive. Looking at the scans again, Dr. Linden was at a loss on what to do for Nayara so doing what any reasonable doctor would do, he sent a message to Dr. Lyssa Ramaela to get another opinion.
After a few moments, Lyssa came walking into the room dressed in her usual colorful cartoon printed doctors scrubs. Glancing from Dr. Linden to the exam table, she saw a young woman laying there hooked up to several machines. The woman was fully conscious and alert, so Lyssa was a little perplexed as to why Dr. Linden had called her in. Leveling her gaze questioningly at Linden, she folded her arms across her chest and spoke. "So what's up? Why am I here? What's the big emergency?"
"This is it." Dr. Linden looked away from the holoscreen for a moment and handed her the datapad containing Nayara's medical file before continuing. "She has contracted this disease that releases fungal spores into the system from a bite from some kind of creature that practically nobody has ever seen or heard of before so there is no known treatments or cures as of yet. Apparently the only thing keeping her alive thus far is the fact that she's Force sensitive...a Jedi in training. It seems the Force has kept the disease in check so far."
Lyssa took the datapad he handed her and began reading what the young woman's previous physicians had found and the conclusions they had came to regarding Nayara's condition. Looking over the notes on several of the symptoms, Lyssa noticed a movement out of the corner of her eye and turned to the young woman in time to see Nayara's foot start twitching. Raising an eyebrow, she looked up to the holoscreen again and saw the monitor spike a few times with each twitch. Turning her gaze to the young woman, she watched the twitching for a moment before smiling warmly and speaking.
Nayara, I'm Dr. Lyssa Ramaela, but you can just call me Lyssa. As for your question....I'm not going to bullshit you. I have never seen anything like this in all my years as a doctor. From what I've just read in your file, it honestly amazes me how you're still alive. How long ago did you get bit, and is the twitching a new symptom or did you have it before?"

Lyssa's arrival was a subtle distraction that kept Nayara from shutting down her foot's twitching completely. Doc Linden was a good guy if a little bookish for her tastes. In Nayara's experience with doctors they came in two types. Either they were all smiles and rainbows, or they were tight lipped and guarded their thoughts like a Hutt guarded its money. Nayara could deal with the quiet ones. The sugary sweet doctors just got on her nerves, and her teachers always chided her about how easy it was for Nayara to get annoyed with those professionals.
"Hey Lyssa. I'd shake your hand but, you know," Nayara shifted her head, indicating the medical scanner hanging over her. The machine let out a warning beep as it registered the movement (Of course you wouldn't beep when my foot starts moving...) "Ah, anyway. Yeah. I get the whole 'You should be dead' thing every now and then. A couple of Republic marines got stung by the creature right after I did. They were gone within a few days."
Nayara had to shudder as she remembered the sight of the men and women. They were being treated in the same shipboard medical suite she was in, but within days of her waking up, their bodies began to contort and shift in ways that couldn't be comfortable. Their limbs clawed at the air until locking in place, unable to move, becoming living statues somehow. The worst part? She could look and see that their eyes were still moving as their bodies froze in those positions. Their chests would rise and fall ever so slightly as the bodies became oxygen deprived. Whatever was going on inside their bodies, as they were locked in place, they were still aware of their surroundings. Still lucid. Living sculptures, twisted in ways that looked agonizing but had no way of communicating whether or not they were in pain. And they waited like that, for minutes or hours until the poison got to one of the critical organs- heart, lungs, or brain- and poof, like flicking off a droid's power switch, they were gone for good.
Later, after the autopsies, the doctors found that the creature injected some kind of fungal spore into the victims (or if it wasn't a spore, it was a venom that behaved damn near like one) and the talk of contamination to the whole crew started. The parasite had already died from some pathogen, but without any true containment unit aboard, the captain ordered the creature's corpse to be incinerated to keep the crew from inhaling any spores. A thorough disposal, but in the end unnecessary.
So the only medical records for the creature's poison came from four autopsies and cursory notes on the creature that were taken by an intern rather than a true xeno-biologist.
Nayara had to consider herself as formally "up the creek" now.
"I was bit about 18 months ago, now," Nayara said. "The twitching started about 8 months ago. It comes and goes right before the fevers. Usually followed by a nasty muscle cramp too. Why? What're you thinking, Doc? No bullshit."

Lyssa was already bringing up the info on her datapad about the Republic Marines while Nayara spoke. Reading over the the findings and conclusions that the ships doctors had came to regarding the marines' rapid deterioration after being bitten/stung by the mysterious creature caused Lyssa to pause a moment as she chewed on her lower lip thoughtfully. Almost from the moment the marines had been infected their entire systems began shutting down one by one. Some were lucky enough to die within a few hours, while others death took a few days to release them from their agony. According to the head doctors notes, the symptoms like Nayara was experiencing had progressed much more rapidly in the marines' bodies causing a painful drawn out death as muscles and organs began to atrophy. All the while the marines could still feel the pain, were still aware of their surroundings and of what the disease was doing to their bodies but the paralysis in the third, and last, stage prevented them from even crying out.
Looking up from the datapad, Lyssa listened with great interest as the young woman told her that she'd been bitten 18 months ago, the twitching in her foot had started about 8 months ago and was often followed by muscle cramps. Also, the twitching was usually a precursor to a fever. Pursing her lips, Lyssa folded and arm across her chest and rested the other arm atop it while putting a finger to her mouth as she thought over what Nayara had said for a moment.
"The Republic ships doctor, and other medical personnel, kept decent enough accounts of this but...." Reaching over, Lyssa swiped one of the holoscreens off to the side with a hand and brought up another page of Nayara's medical file and compared it side by side with that of one of the marines.
"...without an expert in the field of xeno-biology, I'm not entirely sure how they came to some of these damn conclusions about how the infection works exactly. Lucky for you, I do, however, have experience in DNA. If we can isolate the genetic markers of the spores - which, by the way, I'm not entirely convinced it's actually spores without further testing - but if we can isolate the genetic markers we might be able to find, at the very least, an effective treatment that will possibly keep the symptoms at bay and you alive for a few more years." Lyssa began removing the needles from Nayara's arms and legs then pushed aside the scanner that was hanging directly overhead so the young woman could sit up if she wished. Folding her arms across her chest, she met Nayara's gaze before continuing to speak.
"There are drawbacks, as with everything in life, that even with the genetic testing we still might not be able to find a viable treatment in time. It sucks giant bantha balls, I know....but I seriously think it's worth a shot."

He rested a hand on the mans shoulder.* "Jak. I'll be outside if you need anything." *Jak made a sound that Jonas let pass as acknowledgment. Jonas turned and left the room, leaving Jak to watch over his brother. Letting out a sigh Jonas leaned up against the wall out in the hallway. His thoughts drifting back to his time with the Republic, and all the brothers and sisters he had lost.*

With her work done for the time being, she signed off on some paper work, before heading out of the room and letting the nurses know to check in regularly on Shay and let her know immediately if his condition changed for the worse, but she was fairly confident the man would pull through just fine. With that, she returned to her normal rounds

@count was finally brought to one of the private rooms to recover from his surgery, at which point, his aides were allowed to come and visit him. One of the nurses gave them a brief overview of what was done, but were informed that Doctor Van Buuren would stop by and brief them in more detail once the Count recovered and woke up from the surgery. Until then, they would have to sit tight and wait...
