This was an idea I ( Aerandir Calmcacil) had been toying around with way back on 1.5 a little while before the crash, but for whatever reason didn't get around to trying it out. Maybe for the better, since then it was more of a random scripted thing I'd do for the heck of it, but I've got hopefully a better idea for it now that can maybe spark some spontaneity and creativity and generally just have a good time. Basically, redcrested cougars were presumably extinct after the Yuuzhan Vong bioweapon terraformed Belkadan. In my timeline, I write Belkadan as having that history, but the terraforming had been later reversed. Redcrested cougars were still believed extinct, but enough survived and slowly regrew their population, unbeknownst to the planet's inhabitants. There's probably some scientific issue with this somewhere but who cares. Basically they become territorial and angry at the human population of the planet, and scattered attacks begin. Bruce here, Aerandir's old Master, receives report of two students who'd ventured off into the forests near the base and barely escaped with their lives, then finds that there were more attacks upon other settlements and the city. Seeing as Belkadan no longer boasts the Jedi and military presence it once had, there's no way he can fend off everything himself. This is where everyone else comes in. There's no planned end to this, just a backdrop, and I wanted to see what kind of interest I could gather in this story. Whether it be hunters and poachers after the rare creature, darksiders wanting to stir up trouble, fellow Jedi willing to help, medics to aid the wounded, or mercenaries or smugglers who have whatever reason to get involved. Heck, if people want to write cougar packs or something, that'd be cool too. Why would all these people show up just because of cougar attacks? Do all RPs have to have a reason that makes sense as long as the goal is to have some fun?  Anyone interested? |

Im with like all my alts, mains and such. Be it an angry shade (good way to get around that whole science thing), a group of Stormtroopers and an Imperial Knight. Plus writing as a cougar could be fun.
What all their roles will be when I get there, I dont know but I can find a place for all of them.

I could add a nightsister poacher out for new pets. That would also constitute the "darksiders stirring up trouble". Maybe even angering up the cougars to lure out the jedi and other poachers that does not respect these animals as the twisted nightsister code prescribes.
something like that.

Atia could hire Cag to do the catching, and just send a nightsister to watch and make sure he delivers under the pretext of 'helping' him.

Thanks for the interest! Glad to see this is a well-received idea so far. I was thinking about requesting for a temporary thread to be added so it wouldn't be as cluttered, but I'm not sure. Belkadan doesn't have many threads, and I hadn't requested a couple old threads since I knew I wasn't really intending on using it much, but what do you guys think? I could ask for at least one temporary thread (probably the city and it'd be the only thread I'd think we'd need added), but that's if you guys think we might need it. |

I'm going to assume everyone is fine with the thread count then, of course if people speak up that can be changed.
Monte, I am unsure what appeals to your character's strengths. Are you good with animals? Or maybe just organizing protection for the inhabitants or students and whatnot? I plan on the RP being pretty open-ended, so just about anyone can contribute where they see fit.
That is something I'd like to emphasize, that there's no script or real restrictions with this, other than the natural laws and common courtesy of course. Meaning there's not gonna be a rigid roster, people can jump in at any point. I'm not sure when I'm thinking of starting this, but probably soon, just wanna give a little more time for people to figure their things out, ask questions, or see who else expresses interest before it begins.

It wouldn't be completely out of the question. I imagine that when the HoloNet message goes out or whatever, there'll be some calls for aid and people would be free to assume they made some agreement to come help and get compensated for it.

I don't know if it's a fit for your character, but I could see the Republic sponsoring a relief mission. The Republic would expect you to work alongside the Jedi, but that doesn't mean you couldn't personally be irritated with the Jedi or blame them for letting it happen or something.
